HFM 9.3.1 & IE8 on Windows 7

We are in the initial stages of testing a possible deployment of Windows 7 to our end users and running into issues with our current version of HFM since Windows 7 will not allow you to run IE 7.
We have tried using the Windows XP Mode, however that is painfully slow and the general process of having a second enviroment to work in will be a burden for the end users trying to complete tasks in HFM.
Using IE 8, we have gotten farther than in prior versions, it appears that everything works with the big exception of the Reports, you are able to run one report, but then all of the tabs freeze and you need to close out of IE.
Has anyone had any luck in getting this to work?

Not yet. There is expected to be a patch release (9.3.1.5) sometime in CY2010 based on what I have heard (though I expect it will be after the release of 11.1.2).
There is a workaround posted at [http://www.metavero.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=44:making-ie8-work-on-hyperion-11x&catid=1:latest-news&Itemid=50], but keep in mind this is not an Oracle supported solution.

  • Problem with ADE, IE8 and Windows 7?

Encountering issues downloading ADE eBooks using IE8 in Windows 7?  Is this a known issue and are there any fixes?  Error states "Unable to Download. Unspecified Error."

That's one informative message from Windows, eh?
Some issues regarding Win 7 security have been discussed in the forum.  If
I remember correctly, at least one issue related to granting ADE permission
to pass through Win 7 security and then finding out that, at a lower level,
it was still blocked.  Try doing a search on the Forum and see if you can
find more specific information.  Sorry I can't pinpoint the post - I'm on
    Win XP.

  • Embeded 3D PDF not showing up in webpage on IE8 with Windows XP

    Hi,
There seems to be a compatibility problem with embedded 3D PDF and IE8 on Windows XP. The PC that is experiencing the problem runs on Windows XP Professional Edition with Service Pack 3; it also has Adobe Reader X Version 10.1.3 installed.
This compatibility problem can be demonstrated with the following screenshots.
The first screenshot shows a blank space with a small red "X" at the lower left corner which was taken when IE8 was being used. This blank space is where the embedded 3D PDF is suppose to show up.
The second screenshot shows how the webpage is suppose to look. It was taken when Firefox 14.0.1 was used to browse the same webpage.
Here is the URL for this testing page:

What can I do to have my XP computer show this website correctly on IE8? Or is this a problem for the webmaster of this website?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

  • Pages not displaying correctly in IE8 on Windows 7

This site (http://www.pandakotadiveservices.ca) looks fine on IE8  in Windows XP and Windows Vista, but in Windows 7 the photo is missing from the home page, and all other pages show column positioning problems to the extreme! The left column is covering the right column...HELP! Does anyone have a solution for this?
    Sally

Images are showing up fine with windows 7.  I checked ie8 and ff.  Now there is in ff, and perhaps in ie as well, the ability to trun off images...is it possible you have done that?

  • Jinitiator & IE8 On Windows 2008 R2 x64 Server - Please Help!

    Hello All -
I am wrapping up configuration of a Citrix Xenapp server for a presentation to my manager. The ONLY thing that I cannot get working is jinitiator for our Oracle apps. It is running on IE8 on WIndows 2008 R2 x64.
I have done a lot of research and replace jvm.dll from Java, but haven't been able to get that to work. My guess is that it's either because I'm downloading the incorrect version of Java (which I extract the .jvm file from) or that i'm running x64.
Please give any suggestions to help. I've spent hours on this project and if I cannot figure this out and have to go back to a different version of OS, then it's all lost -
    Thanks!

    Great - Thanks.
Will this need to be something that it installed/configured on my machine with IE8 installed or will changes need to be made to the actual Oracle server? We don't manage the server so hopefully it will be the client end.
Thank YouAs long as you have the necessary version of JRE installed, you should be good. Necessary application changes/configuration must be made in order for it to use JRE.

  • How to install IE8 on Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter?

    Hello.
Can anybody tell me, how to install IE8 on 2008 R2 Datacenter?
I've downloaded this http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/internet-explorer-8-details.aspx for "Windows Server 2008 64-bit and more..", removed IE11, IE10, IE9 from installed updates, and runned "dism /online /disable-feature
    /featurename:Internet-Explorer-Optional-amd64".
And nothing helps. I've got a message "Internet Explorer 8 is not supported on this operating system".

    you can't "install" IE8 on WS2008R2, nor on Windows7 - because those OS's shipped with IE8.
IE is an OS component, and so when you "upgrade" or "downgrade" IE, you are affecting an OS component.
What this means is that the "IE8" download you are trying to apply, is actually IE8 for WinXP or maybe WinVista.
You can usually "downgrade" Win7 back to IE8, by uninstalling the newer "upgrade" of IE - this causes the OS to automatically attempt to revert to the prior IE version.
This reversion assumes/requires a healthy OS and component store (CBS), including all the pkgmgr file needed to revert to component.
Sometimes, the component store is damaged, or is missing files.
you may need to check the CBS logfiles, and may need to perform SFC /scannow
You may need to use CheckSUR to repair system health.

  • IE8 in Windows 7 crashing with flash frequently

    Hello,
I'm running a brand new install of Windows 7 (formatted with Windows 7 on a brand new drive, not upgraded from a previoius OS).  I'm running the 32 bit Internet Explorer 8.0.7600.16385 on a Windows 7 Ultimate x64 with all the latest MS patches.   I have flash 10,0,32,18 installed.    I can browse many flash pages but about 1 in 12 will eventually crash IE8.   I can go back into IE8 and open the same page that crashed flash/ie8 but it is very frustrating to browse the web and have it crash so often.

    Some troubleshooting for flash player:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html
If you follow all the steps, this will usually lead to http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/408/kb408620.html
The second link includes steps for developers and then steps for users (not sure why they didn't list the users section first). Skip to the users section and follow those steps.
This will fix many flash errors, however there are still some flash videos that are just broken. You should record the URL of the sites that cause your flash player to crash IE.

  • Show and Share with IE8 and Windows 7 64bit

So we are running 5.2.1, and we create a live event. We have a Windows 7 64bit machine running IE8 in 32-bit mode. Everything appears to start fine, the video plays, we get audio, slides load, the different frames pop up etc etc. However, after a time the video will halt and slide updates will stop. It's almost like it just drops the connection due to inactivity. If the user shuts down the browser completely are goes back to the page it will display fine once more only to stop after so many minutes of playing once again. I've messed around with the flash settings to no avail, and have yet to find anything in IE that could account for this. Maybe I'm overlooking something, anyone have any ideas?

Well now it seems that I have another problem too. Now my iTunes can't find my iPad at all, no error messages or anything.
Now the error message was one of these 4: (0xE8000065)(0xE800000a)(0xE800006b)(0xE8000001)
I can't remember which it was because I can't get any error messages anymore.
By the way, here is a list of what I have done already to make things work.
-uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes 9.1 many, many times in different folders too.
    -updated all my drivers
-checked that windows can find my iPad and it does.
-Shut down my F-Secure firewall ect. and trying to connect iPad then.
-I have done everything what you possibly can from this site http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3221
-my USB ports work fine with every other devices like my 500gb harddrive, mouse, keyboard ect. and I have tried to disconnect every other USB devices except iPad and still not working.
I'll try deleting my USB drivers now, reinstall them and even if after doing all that and iPad still not connecting to iTunes.. well then it's our of my league, I don't know anything more to do.
Oh, and by the way. I called to Apple support and they only said that there shouldn't be any problems with Windows 7 and iTunes and they couldn't help me very much.. And my iPad works fine with other computers that are in my house.

  • How to run IE8 on windows 7 professional that already have IE10 ?

    Dear all,
I am using windows 7 professional and it already have Internet explorer 10  , but i want internet explorer 8 .>>....>> how to make it possible?
    Please give some valuable suggestion.
    Regards,
    Vinay Yadav

    Hi,
I uninstalled IE10 in my win7 (enterprise)for a test, and it just rolled back to IE8. Maybe something is different in your machine.
Have you tried the FIX IT in the KB that I mentioned before, or how about manually uninstall IE9 by command? does these make any difference?
When you uninstall Internet Explorer 9, the previously installed version of Internet Explorer is installed. If the previous version of Internet Explorer is not Internet Explorer 8, you can install and then configure Internet Explorer 8 from
    the following Microsoft website:
    Download Internet Explorer 8

  • Remove IE9 and reinstall IE8 on Windows 7

    Hi Guys,
We have an issue were we have some Windows 7 running on it. We need to access an old System that doesn't support IE9 or any other bowser except IE8, IE7 or even IE6. Is there a way to uninstall IE9 or even install IE8 Along side IE9?

Niki Han is incorrect in his statement, “if Internet Explorer 9 is pre-installed on Windows 7, it cannot be uninstalled”.
The closer to the correct answer is the one from Little Sheep, “IE8 is a built-in feature in Windows 7. You can turn it on or off from Windows Features.”.
    Wayniak… Follow these steps:
    Go to
    Start, Control Panel,
    Programs
    Click on
View installed updates under Programs and Features section
Scroll down the list in the Microsoft Windows section and find
    Windows Internet Explorer 9
Select this item and click on
    Uninstall
When prompted to confirm click on
    Yes
    Restart your computer
OEM installs of Windows 7 Pro I have seen have some with both IE 8 and IE9.
In both cases, the OEM install usually comes with updates, hot fixes, service packs, etc. installed just like you and me would do in their factory image.
They are in a little bit different place… but they are there!
You will have to run setup wizard for IE 8 when you openthe browser back up the first time.
And I did have to do this twice on one machine but it did work successfully the second time around.
You do have to remember now, when you run Windows Updates the next time, to make sure you mark the update
    Click on
Tools on the menu bar and select Windows Update
(You may have to activate the menu bar or type Windows Update from the Start button)
    Click on
Check for updates on the left
When updates are ready click on
the XX important updates are available in the center of the screen
    Uncheck
Windows Internet Explorer 9 for Windows 7
    Right click on
Windows Internet Explorer 9 for Windows 7 and select Hide update
    Click on
    OK
    That should do the trick!
This has worked perfectly for me each time I have come across the issue.
    Good luck!!

  • Downgrade IE10 to IE8 on windows server 2008

    Hi,
I have installed Window server 2008 R2. I think the default IE i.e IE8 is upgraded and showing IE10 now.
My application doesn't support IE10, so i need to downgrade IE 10 to IE8.
I have searched in "Installed Updates", but didn't find IE10 under Installed Updates.
Can someone please suggest the steps how to downgrade to IE8.
    Thanks
    Krishna

    Hi,
Have you checked the IE version on the newly installed Windows Server 2008 R2?
Which version of Internet Explorer am I using?
If we have IE 10 installed on Windows Server 2008 R2 and want IE 8 back, please uninstall IE 10 in
    Programs-> Uninstall a Program ->View installed updates.
And if IE 9 is also installed before, we need to uninstall it as well.
Besides, you might want to take a look at the below link:
Toolkit to Disable Automatic Delivery of Internet Explorer 10
    Hope this may help
    Best regards

  • How to get Adobe Flash 10 to work on IE8 on Windows Vista?

I've tried downloading the newest Adobe Flash Player 10 on IE8

I've tried unistalling and installing it (several times)... I've made sure that Shockwave is enabled under Internet settings... I've also tried unistalling IE8 and reinstalling without the updates... and still nothing.  I even tried installing Flash 10 on IE7, still nothing worked.
