HFM Application Manual Migration w/o LCM

Hi Gurus,
I want to migrate the HFM 11.1.1.3 application running on Oracle 11g database from Production to Development environment. Both system are running on Windows 2003. The LCM is not an option here due to some internal issues. I need help how to move the application manually from one environment to the other and looking for help from you Gurus.
Regards
Shashi

Chris,
I tried to run the Copy Utility but getting message "You must migrate the application using BPMA instance". Can I use any other manual method like database export import and moving the Application File System etc ?
Thanks for reviewing and suggestions.

  • Application content migration manually from EP 6.0 to EP 7.0 EHP1

    Hi All,
We have EP 6.0 portal system running on windows 2003 server and oracle .We have another EP7.0 EHP1 portal system installed on AIX 6.1 and oracle. The present portal is connected to BW, CRM and ECC systems and
also lot of customization is done in NWDI. The customer is requesting for manual migration of Iviews, user, roles, customized applications etc. from EP6.0 to EP7.0 EHP1.
Is it possible to go ahead and do?
    Any implication are there?
Please provide your valuable suggestions and feedback in this regards.
    Thanks & regards,

    Hi,
I don't think so it is possible because version of both the portals are different. So, might be you can face some issue.
    Thanks

  • Loading metadata into HFM application through EPMA - Beginner

    Hello,
I have an HFM application which was created in a classic format and then later on converted to EPMA. I would like add more metadata in it now either manually or any other way. I tried to create a few members manually through dimension library but when I see it in the actual application, the members are not seen. Is there anything else to do like deploying it or anything? It would be great help if anybody could tell me how to add members manually and in bulk.
    Thanks

Yes. You'll need to deploy the application to see the changes outside of EPMA. Since EPMA is your metadata management tool now, you'll make the changes there, and then deploy (or load) it to the application. There are several ways to make metadata changes in EPMA:
    1) Directly in the Dimension Library as you have done
    2) Using the Grid Editor functionality in the Dimension Library (right-click any dimension label and you'll see the option)
    3) Using the EPMA File Generator (this is best for building new apps and regularly occurring changes)
    4) Using LCM (this is my preference for bulk changes)
Shoot an email to the address in my profile and I'd be happy to get you some further info.

  • Manually migrate iPhoto 8 Library to iPhoto 9.5

Hi, I have a new MBP. Instead of using the Migration Wizard, and I want to manually move documents from my old MBP to the new one. I want a clean system, as there is a lot of cruft on the old machine from many prior migrations from machine to machine.
My first attempt at moving the iPhoto Library did not go well. I got the Unreadable Files error (1300 files) and iPhoto just hung thereafter. So, I want to try again. But, perhaps I'm not clear on the process of how to manually migrate the iPhoto Library. I did the following - is this correct, or should I have done something else?
Carbon Copy Cloner backup to external HD
Copied iPhoto Library from backup HD to /User/Pictures/ folder on new MBP
Opened iPhoto. It started importing and I went to sleep.
Awoke to review iPhoto import: Result was Unreadable Files error and a hung iPhoto
I had the following folders in /Users/Pictures: iPhoto Library_2 (this is what I copied from backup), iPhoto Library.photolibrary
    System details:
    Old MBP:
    OSX 10.6.8
    iPhoto 8.1.2
    New MBP:
    OSX 10.9.4
    iPhoto 9.5.1
Should I have followed a different process?
    Thanks in advance.

You screenshot does not display for me so I'm answering with the benefit of seeing it.
Opened iPhoto. It started importing and I went to sleep.
Did you try importing the iPhoto 8 library into a new library or just try to open the V8 library directly with iPhoto?
Get a fresh copy of the library from the EHD into the Pictures folder on your new Mac and do the following:
1 - copy the iPhoto 8.1.2 application from the EHD to the desktop, rename it iPhoto 8.1.2.app and place in your Applications folder.
2 - launch iPhoto 8.1.2  with the Option key held down, select the library and try to open.  If it opens OK close iPhoto 8.1.2.
3 - launch iPhoto 9.5.1 with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window. Be sure to follow the circled recommendation in the screenshot.
    3 - run Option #4, Rebuild Database.

  • Manual Migration

A bit of a philosophical question, perhaps, possibly to be filed under "old dog can't learn new tricks", but I've gone through seven Macs and more OS radical updates I care to count in some 25 years, we thought going from OS 6 to the famed "System 7" was terrifying, almost a millennium bug thing, in those days...
Well, it was a breeze then, really, but things got a lot more complicated with time, if you still want to move your essential System and Application related files to a new computer "by hand". It was just a matter of copying a couple of Preferences files, maybe an Extension or three, and Bob was your uncle then, there's a million places with bits and pieces these days, and you can't even find your own User Library anymore (not easily at least), can't begin to fathom why...
I know there's a Migration Assistant supposed to deal with that, and it's not even that I don't trust it... well... old habits and all that...
I guess the basic problem is that I don't want ALL files from my old computer moved to the new one, I'm not sure how far I can "fine-tune" the Migration Assistant in that respect and I'm not sure how to go about that hardware-wise, either...
Starting point is a 2007 iMac 24", stuff to be moved to a current Mac Mini, so no FireWire direct connection is possible (I guess...).
All workfiles are being moved via an external LaCie HD (Thunderbolt/USB3) and/or a USB3 pendrive (you do forget stuff ). Further shareable item is a NetGear modem/router, still boxed (got that yesterday).
Well, summing up, and sorry about that bit of a rant, I'd like to know if there's anything like a "Manual Migration for Dummies" type of guide somewhere, but tips about using the Migration Assistant would be welcome too... I DO still want to learn new tricks, I just find it a bit hard

Unfortunately the information below won't help much if the hard drive damage prevents access to the files and folders you need to copy. If you have either Disk Warrior or Tech Tool Pro you may be able to repair the damage or at least repair it enough to get your data. If not then you may need to use data recovery software such as ProSoft's Data Rescue II.

  • How to delete HFM Application Tables in SQL

    Hi Gurus
1.How to delete HFM Application Tables in SQL?
Manually its deleting but each application having 120-150 tables? how to do this in a single shot?
I have deleted few applications using workspace/ shared services, but still its showing under HFM server under SQL Tables.
    Please help me
    regards
    Smilee

    Hi Smilee,
    1. If the application can be opened in Financial Management web interface, go to the Manage Taskflows module and make sure that no taskflows still exist for this application. Delete any existing taskflows.
    2. If the application exists in Shared Services, right click on the application in Shared Services and try to delete the application from there
    3. Stop Hyperion Shared Services and all Financial Management Windows processes and take backups of the relational database schemas of both.
    4. Check the relational database repository of Hyperion Shared Services, in the table "ces_apps" and make sure that there are no more rows containing the appname "EXAMPLE". If row still exists you should seek help from Oracle Global Software Support to clean up the Hyperion Shared Services before proceeding.
    5. It is possible to remove all content for a deleted application from the Financial Management relational database. Extreme care should be taken when manually manipulating database tables as permanent damage can be done to the intended application and other applications if the wrong content is deleted.
    a) Begin by deleting all tables, indexes, sequences and package objects that begin with the application name
    b) Delete any tables beginning HSV_appname_xxxxxx
    c) Delete any rows from the HSX_CLUSTER_xxxxx tables referring to the application.
    d) Delete any rows from the HSV_ACTIVITY_KILL_USERS, HSV_ACTIVITY_NO_ACCESS, HSV_ACTIVITY_SESSIONS and HSV_ACTIVITY_USERS and HSV_USERS_ON_SYSTEM that refer to the application name.
    d) Delete the row containing name of the application from the HSX_DATASOURCES table.
    6. The next time all the Hyperion services are started again, the application should be safely removed from Windows client.
You can contact your DBA to write a query on how to delete it.
    Hope this helps,
    Thank you,
    Charles Babu J

  • How to Keep Alive a specific HFM application

My PRD landscape has 2-3 applications. Whenever any application loads for the first time in the memory, it takes quite some time before it is loaded. Once the application is loaded, the response times are pretty quick and acceptable.
During specific parts of the day / month, a specific application becomes active. During this time, other applications may or may not be used, but one specific application is definitely used. I want to keep this application's cubes loaded in the RAM, so that response times are quick, whenever the user needs it - whether for the first time or otherwise.
How to keep alive a specific application's cubes alive and loaded in RAM? I am not looking for general solution like setting the "FM Service" to Automatic (currently it is set Manual) - setting this to Automatic, will affect all applications. However, I am looking for a specific application at a specific period of time.
I am ok with a custom solution if required. Let me know, what are my options.

I think you are looking for an inappropriate solution to your problem. Most HFM applications take a few seconds to start up. If your application takes such a long time to start up you really need to examine the root cause. Start by removing the Sub NoInput and Sub Input routines in your rules to see if this is the reason the application takes so long to start.
If the removal of those routines does not significantly change the startup time, look through the event logs for possible causes. It is possible you have a connection problem with the Oracle database for example, or you have an environment configuration problem where the HFM application servers have a very slow connection to the database server, or possibly the database server performs poorly.
I strongly suggest you investigate these root casues first before trying to make HFM behave in a non-standard way. Certainly you can start the HFM Management Service, which will start all of your HFM applications and keep them all up and running. This approach does not allow the applications to shut down on their own though. Only use this if you have exchausted your investigations (as I suggsted above).

  • OBIEE 11g - Application role migration from DEV to UAT or to PROD

    Hello All,
there are blogs which mentioned about application role migration from dev to UAT or Prod..
Kindly provide the correct path of below two files which we use for application Role migration
    1. system-jazn-data.xml
    2. jps-config.xml
I have searched these files but noticed there are 3 or 4 files with same name under different paths.
    Kindly help. TIA
    Regards

if you mess up these files, your system will get corrupted.
You need to take proper back up and then get it done.
another way where you can avoid this risk is to manually enter the roles. Creating roles is one time effort unless you keep deleting and creating new roles. If you manually do it you will have more control on migration and you can fix if there an issue easily. Note, the migration of roles does not map the groups to roles . You still have to manually map them.

  • How to Query/Lookup Data Target HFM Application in FDMEE Import / Validation Step

    Hi Experts,
We are using FDMEE 11.1.2.3.500 to load 2 sets of Flat Files - ICP Trial Balances and Non-ICP Trial Balances. The ICP Trial Balances will be loaded to Target HFM Application first using FDMEE and then the remaining Non-ICP Trial balances Load would follow
We have a complex business requirement wherin we want to check if the Non-ICP Trial Balances for a given ENTITY, ACCOUNT, [ICP None] combination in the Trial Balance File matches the already loaded ICP Trial Balances for ENTITY, ACCOUNT, [ICP Total]. If it matches then this record has to be skipped from our data load else it has to be loaded. To elaborate with an example:
                                                                  Entity    Account     ICP              Amount
    File 1 (ICS_TB.csv) - Record 1  ->          E1          A1           P1                  100
    File 1 (ICB_TB.csv) - Record 2  ->          E1          A1           P2                  300
    Above File Gets Loaded First
File 2 (Non_ICP_TB) - Record 1->          E1          A1          [ICP None]      400    (Record to be skipped - It matches the above already loaded File)
Is it possible to validate this during Import or Validate Step in FDMEE? if yes, can you please throw some light on how this can be done?
    Thanks!

As far as I am aware there is no seperate Java API reference manual for FDMEE, you are limited to the information available in the Admin Guide for now. If you feel that it is not comprehensive enough perhaps you could raise a ticket or enhancement request via Oracle Support.
The sysntax for the statement should be dmAPI.executeDML(String query,Object[] parameters) according to the AG, I wouldn't put 100% trust in that as it can often be incorrect, but give it a try. Ensure the 2nd parameter is a Jython list.
I don't think the method supports passing a Stored Procedure and there doesn't appear to be another native API method listed that would do that. You could initiate the connection using standard Python or Java libraries and then use a cursor and prepared statements to execute the sql or the callproc method of the Python DB API

  • Manual Migration vs. Migration Assistant

I am finally going to upgrade my Mac Pro to Mavericks. It is currently running SL 10.6.8. I will definitely perform a clean install and then reinstall all applications manually. But I can't decide if I should use the Migration Assistant to move my data over or if I should do it all manually.
Reason for a completely manual migration:
A clean start. My system currently contains over a decade's worth of clutter. My user library folder is several hundred GB in size and I have no idea what most of the stuff in there is. It's a mess and it doesn't feel right.
    Reason for using migration assistant:
It basically guarantees that nothing important is forgotten and - more importantly - it automatically takes care of stuff that can be very troublesome to transfer manually, like Mail data for example. The Migration Assistant seems safer in this regard than a completely manual migration.
    What do you think?

I would use neither of those, and use Setup Assistant instead. Setup Assistant is available right after you boot up from your newly upgraded system; it asks you if you want to transfer your data over. Answer yes. It will be quick and easy. Answering no and attempting to do it later, whether by Migration Assistant or by manual copying, is usually a mistake in my experience.
