HFM BPMA web

Hi ,
We are on Hypeiron 9, I know I can access hyperion planning and HFM through workspace, can anyone tell me whats the web address for HFM like planning http://server:8300/HyperionPlanning/LogOn.jsp...
In workspace I can navigate in webanalysis but I did not see anything related to HFM...So I want to try a direct link of HFM

this "direct link for HFM" is for development troubleshooting purposes ONLY and absolutely NOT for production users.
There is no "direct link for HFM" as there is for planning, that is meant for production users, in HFM releases since the Workspace integration. The only method of access from 9.3.1 + releases is via the Workspace.
please do not give out this URL to anyone who is not an administrator, and do NOT guarantee that all features will work through this direct URL. not every module of HFM has been tested to work like this by Quality Engineering teams.

HFM - log that shows if a user has loaded data via web form or excel load.

I can see any data loads that are coming from FDM, but is there a log that shows any data entered into HFM via web forms or submitted through an excel file? Any input is appreciated.

You could enable Data Audit to capture data changes made by users, though this will not capture which method users chose to change the data. That is, HFM can show that data changed, and who changed it, but cannot tell whether the data was changed through a form, grid, smart view, or FDM. If you want to prevent users from changing data through forms, grids, or smart view, you can secure those input methods, but you cannot capture which one is used.

HFM 11.1.2.3 Configuration - Issue with Consolidation Administration

Hi,
This is regarding a new/fresh installation EPM 11.1.2.3 and have an issue with configuration on HFM; the deployment is distributed as below
1) Server 1 : Foundation,WebLogic Admin(/OHS) - Workspace/Shared Services/Planning/Calc Manager/EAS/APS
2) Server 2: Essbase
3) Server 3 : EPMA/HSF/HFM(FDMee/DRM-Yet, to be installed and configured) - Hadnt used these products and this is totally new to me.
We have issues with HFM - and while opening the Consolidation Administration.
We get an error as below, in workspace
An unexpected error has occured.Check server log or contact your system administrator for more information.
The web app logs suggested below errors- This is only part of the error log

I hadnt configured 'Configure Cluster' during the HFM configuration; this was a mistake being new to HFM.
On a further readup online on OTN etc, found that an application cluster is a must have on HFM, even if it is for one server.
Have one confusion now for fixing this,
Do a configuration only for 'Configure Cluster', and restart services to fix this issue
or
Do a configuration for 'Configure Cluster'and then again re-Configure HFM components

Re-Configure > Financial Management — Configure Application Server
Re-Configure > Financial Management — Configure Web Server
Re-Configure > Financial Management — Configure Web Application
Re-Configure > Financial Management — Enable Smart View Provider

Re-Configure > Financial Management — Enable Web Services

Got help from Oracle Support, and this problem is now resolved. The HFM app server was configured fine, earlier.
Had to follow below steps on the EPM configurator.
Stop Services
HFM - Configure Cluster
HFM - Configure Web Server
HFM - Deploy to App Server
Foundation - Configure Web Server.
Start Services
Refresh workspace

Help on Migration from Hyperion Enterprise 6.5.0 to HFM 11.1

We are planning to upgrade our system from Hyperion Enterprise 6.5.0 to HFM 11.1 and would be very grateful if you can help us in answering the below questions as I am novice in Hyperion.
Current Environment:
We have one Hyperion Enterprise 6.5.0 server and Hyperion 6.5 client is installed on two Citrix servers. We use Citrix servers to publish Hyperion client which users can use to access the Hyperion application. I have been planning the Citrix upgrade for Citrix servers and due Hyperion 6.5 incompatibility with Win2008 R2, we are also planning to do Hyperion upgrade to either 6.5.1 or to HFM.
Having no knowledge on HFM, I found out that HFM is web-based application and users can access HFM application through browser unlike Hyperion 6.5 which is accessed by Hyperion client.
I have following question if you can help me, please:
1. Do we need any client to access HFM or all the feature are web based?
2. If it is web-based, do we need any web-server or IIS can be used to provide access to HFM application to users?
3. How many servers (application, web-server, database server etc) would be suffice for 270 users, any estimate?
My questions might be very dumb for this forum but, I would really appreciate and thank any kind of help provided.

You should not proceed without expertise in HFM. The installation and configuration requires a much greater technical knowledge and support than Hyperion Enterprise does. Also, you should not perform a straight migration of Hyperion Enterprise to HFM since you have to consider the differences in dimensionality. I recommend you engage someone who has already done such a migration and has good experience with HFM.

Problems with web client system 9.2

Hi,Check your cluster configuration in HFM Server/Web on the server.I had the same issue. My HFM cluster was not setup properly. Also make sure that you enable the DCOM button.ThanksAzmat Bhatti

Urgent: Error in registering HFM with Shared Services while configuration.

I am installing HFM 11.1.2 on a 64-bit Server 2008 platform with my Foundation Services server is on different
Machine. I have installed installed HFM client, Web Application and Services on both the server.
But i have configured "Deploy to Application Server" on Foundation Server to have a single domain.
All other configurations are done on the HFM Server only.
But during to Deployment to application server my "Register with shared services" part fails.
My foundation services are running. Do i require to Configure DCOM on foundation server also.
Please suggest me some ways to solve this problem.

HFM Performance

Hi all,
Does anyone have any recommendations/best practice type information for improving HFM S9 performance?
Version 9.2.0.3
Windows 2003 SP2
1 server - Core Services / Shared Services / License Server
3 servers - HFM/FDM web behind a load balancer
5 servers - HFM app cluster
2 servers - FDM/MDM/HAL
3 servers - BI+ webapp (weblogic 8.14) behind load balancer
3 servers - BI+ reporting/print/web analysis
DB: SQL 2000 SP4 2 node active/passive cluster (MSCS)
2000+ users
400-500 concurrent
Some of the things that we currently do are
-making sure that the HFM error log files aren't too large
-truncate the HFM error log table from the database when it gets large
-reboot our environment on a weekly basis
One of our major issues is HFM becoming sluggish while performing our application maintenance. While multiple consolidations are running all HFM App server CPUs are at 100% (20 cpus) though when consolidations begin to stop and CPU utilization falls off it appears that the HFM app servers are still sluggish until they are rebooted. Also during quarter close when system usage is heavy there are general complaints that the system is slow/sluggish.
Something I'd like more information on is the task audit and data audit database tables. Ours are quite large (10 million+ rows) I know that these should be cleared out periodically from within HFM but we are trying to figure out the best way to do that and still keep the historical data.
Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I suggest two elements...
1/ get a review of your infratstructure - this, with very detailed information on your network, application, utilizasion and more has been done by many Hyperion clients using Triometric.
2/ think about your processes. Should you automate standard routines (ie consolidate/translate; process management; log management; 'dead' sessions) and more. Have a look at http://www.epmmaestro.com and see a tool that is helping many HFM clients resolve issues just like you are experiencing, while at the same time creating efficiency and saving hours of admin time.

Splitting applications between HFM servers/Cluster

We have 12 HFM applications in our HFM cluster. There is one big application out of 12. During busy time of the month the HFM performance gets pretty bad and all the applications are affected.
I am thinking to split applications in different HFM servers. Has anyone done this before ?

I have the below recommendations for you to improve the performance:
Tuning:
Please kill the following process and re-try.
1. HsvDataSource.exe
2. HsxService.exe
3. HsxServer.exe
4. CASSecurity.exe
1.The size of the hsveventlog file should not be more than 25 mb and if it grows beyond 25MB we would rename the existing hsveventlog file when no users are logged in and the HFM application/web servers are down so that a new file gets created on the re-start of the server.Perform the same to the hfm.odl.log as well
2.Check out the number of records in the HFM database tables <Applicationname>_DATA_AUDIT,<Applicationname>_TASK_AUDIT and HFM_ERROR_LOG table.
If the number of records is gone beyond 500,000 records in the above mentioned tables, please take a back up of the existing HFM Database and Truncate the records in it which would increase performance.
3.Ensure that the HFM management service on all the HFM application servers are kept in the stopped status.
4.Cross check the number of records in the HSV_ACTIVITY_SESSIONS table, let me know how much it returns

Registering an application with Shared Services

I just used HfmCopyApplication.exe to migrate an application from out production environment to a newly installed test environment. However, when I open in the HFM System 9 thick client in the test environment and try to "Open Application", I can see the new application listed (so I know the migration was successful), but I get a message saying "+This application is not registered with Hyperion Shared Services. Please contact your administrator.+"
Can anyone provide some insight? I don't know how to register an application that was migrated from another environment, and I'm hesitant to create a new application with the same name because I don't want to accidentally wipe the one out that was just migrated over. I've looked through the documentation for the HfmCopyApplication, but it only says that I need to register the migrated app with Shared Services... It doesn't tell me how.

that usually means that Workspace has not been configured to know that HFM is in the environment as well, or that for some reason you don't have access to that option.
On the machine where Workspace web component has been installed you will need to run the System 9 configuration utility and choose the task "Reporting and Analysis" and "Configure Web Server". When you get to the screen which asks you to specify the hostname and port of the individual web servers (Financial Reporting, Web Analysis etc) make sure that HFM is ticked on (checked) and that the hostname and port for the HFM web server are correct (should be port 80). Complete the steps with Next Next Next and Finish, then restart both the Apache http server and the Workspace web server (Tomcat/Weblogic/Websphere etc). After that, the next time you log in to Workspace and go to Navigate->Administer you should see the options relating to HFM.
If it is still not there, go to Help->About->Version Details and check that a version for Financial Management component is displayed. If a version number is displayed then it something to do with your access rights (maybe a Creator / Administrator group has been set in the HFM Server / Web Config utility, try to remove it and try again?). If no version number is displayed then Workspace still doesn't know about HFM component (the above step hasn't worked).
If you are not sure speak to the person who did the installation, or if you have a support contract with Oracle then contact Oracle support.

Can Essbase be registered with Shared services if they both belong to different versions

I am analyzing a situation whether Essbase can be registered with Shared services and continue to interact with other components like HFM, FR, Web Analysis, FDMEE, DRM etc, where Essbase will be of one version (possibly 11.1.1.3 or 11.1.2.3) and rest of the products will be of a different version (11.1.2.4). I would like to understand if they can coexists and interact with each other in the same landscape and the possible issues or risks associated with it.

Based on that the 'official' answer would seem to be "no", but whether it works is another question (I don't know).

Hi Shekhar,I am also new to Load Balancer. Our Network folks have set it up for us. I gave them the cluster address of our 2 HFM Servers and they gave me a Virtual IP or VIP. So i have provided the VIP to my users and the Load Balancer works as a Round Robin (Network Term). So it know if one server is heavy on load, it will switch to the other server.I have not had any success so far with the Load Balancer yet. Maybe my settings in HFM Server / Web are not right. I have to work them through. In the mean time my users are using the hard coded url's.ThanksAzmat Bhatti

How to disable Account, but retain historical information?

We are running HFM 9.3. What is the best way to disable an account but retain the historical information? We have an account that has had historical data loaded to it. We wish to disable this account so that no future data can be loaded to it via FDQM (nor should the account be allowed to have a mapping to it in FDQM), as well as prevent it from having data input into it in HFM via web forms, etc.

I would use the NoInput() rule to selectively disable the account from some point in time onwards. The historical periods will retain their values, while for the new periods the account will be disabled for input and data load.

BI+ DataBase Restore Error

Dear Experts,
Good Day.
We have already installed the Hyperion software(ss,hfm,fdqm,fr) in the servers. We are using 4 different servers i.e., shared services server,HFM server,WEB server and DB server.
Now we have to restore the BI+ db from our old environment to current environment. How we can do this restore???????
Is this something like this we have to perform export LCM utility in old environment and import the same db to current environment.
Please correct me if i am wrong and suggest me some solution, how to do the process...

HFM Web Sever Configuration--Keep Alive and Session Time Out Optimal Config

We recently implemented an HFM 9.3.1 environment. We are using Windows 2003 Enterprise SP2 servers with IIS6. We have two HFM Web servers connecting to an application cluster with two application servers in the cluster. We were getting some errors when trying to unlock HFM cells in Workspace, but we were able to perform the functions fine on the application using the WIN32 client.
I opened a ticket with support and they recommended modifying the subcontext.properties file located in %HYPERION_HOME%\deployments\WebLogic9\servers\Workspace\webapps\workspace\conf. They recommended changing the following settings:
#KeepAliveInterval=30
#SessionTimeout=60
From what I understand, these settings are for the communication between the HFM Web Servers and the application cluster servers. I'm wondering how changing these settings may affect our environment. Are there negative effects and/or trade-offs for changing these settings? Is there a recommended threshold or maximum value?

This cannot be achieved without development enhancements to some standard SAP framework component, to introduce a "keep-alive" concept. If you are using a CMS for CTI or email integration, you need to ensure it supports keeping the communications session alive also.

Unable to open the HFM web server link

I am gettng the following error while connecting to the url "http://<servername>/hfm/home/LaunchPage.asp"

I have tried setting the Full permission at the website level to the Windows Admin user as well as IUSR and IWAM. but it still didnot work.
how ever, i was unable to find the Connection timeout tab when i clicked on HFM->Properties.
Please throw some light on it.

you didn't specify the version of HFM. I am assuming you are talking about a 9.3.x or 11.1.1.x release.
In HFM 9.3.0 and 9.3.1 and above, there is no direct link to HFM web. You must login to the BI+ Workspace and use the "Navigate"->"Applications"-"Consolidation" menus to launch HFM.
This is unlike Planning where there is still a direct link straight to planning.
