HFM - Matching Daily FX Translation of P&L Accounts in PS Ledger

Has anybody ever come across a requirement to have FX translation on P&L accounts in HFM (which holds trial balances - not transactional data) at daily rates instead of a monthly average rate?
The only way we can see doing this is by having USD overrides for each of the P&L accounts (a USD overrride loaded for each account, entity, icp, etc. POV) or by having a weighted average calculated off-system and loaded for each of the P&L accounts (more work than USD overrides).
WHY???
We have a client that is implementing PeopleSoft multibook and HFM concurrently. FX remeasurement (local currency to functional currency) and FX translation (functional currency to reporting currency) will occur daily in PS using a daily spot rate (more precise than using a monthly average). B/S accounts at month-end will still be translated at EOM in PS but the PS team does not want to build in functionality to translate P&L activity to a less precise monthly average rate to be in synch with HFM. The dilemma is that building a HFM to use USD Overrides for all 300+ p&l accounts will add design, build, test, increase interfaces, increase load time, increase database size, decrease performance, increase maintenance -- in the HFM system - the central book of record for consolidations and reporting to the street.
We want to still have translation in HFM b/c of the need for a translated cash flow and dynamic translation of top-side adjustments to occur in HFM. There are also entities that are not accounted for in PS for which we want to have better processes / controls around FX translation between functional and reporting currencies.
Thank you in advance

  • I am trying to activate root account on my MAC.  The directions I've seen do not match what is in System Preference for Accounts or Users

I am trying to activate the root account on my new Mac Book Pro.  The instructions that I have found do not match what I have in System Preferences.  What is the process when using Users and Groups.  When I click on Join the Network Account Server- Open Directory Utility I don't see a option to  activate root user as the instructions say at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1528
    OS X Lion
From the Apple menu choose System Preferences....
From the View menu choose Users & Groups.
Click the lock and authenticate as an administrator account.
    Click Login Options....
Click the "Edit..." or "Join..." button at the bottom right.
Click the "Open Directory Utility..." button.
Click the lock in the Directory Utility window.
Enter an administrator account name and password, then click OK.
Choose Enable Root User from the Edit menu.
Enter the root password you wish to use in both the Password and Verify fields, then click OK.

Do you mean you cannot select "Enable Root User" from the "Edit" menu as shown below?
Why do you think you need to enable the root user? I've never needed it in the history of OS X.

  • How can I sync purchases from my old account to my iTunes Match I set up with a new account?

I signed up for iTunes Match with my current apple id (@gmail.com) but also have an old itunes account on which I purchased music back in the day (an old email address). I am trying to get purchased music from old account to sync to match because it includes some of my favorites. Help please!

Purchases made with one Apple ID cannot be transfered, or "synced," to another Apple ID.
If you are in a country that allows it you must download the previous purchases from the other Apple ID to your computer so they are in the iTunes library, then login with the current Apple ID and purchase iTunes Match. You may need to wait 90 days after doing this. The music from the previous ID will be "matched" or "uploaded" and will then be available in the cloud.

  • ICloud and iTunes Match forced me to create a new account?

I've always used one account to login and purchase from iTunes. It was just a username, DAVEINLA. With this recent migration of MobileMe to iCloud, I believe I have two logins. When migrating I tried using the daveinla account and it said that the account name should be your MobileMe e-mail address. It didn't seem to create any problems, until I turned on iTunes Match on my iPhone, it says I've not signed up for iTunes Match. I believe it's because I purchased iTunes match with my original DAVEINLA account.
    So now I have:
iTunes Match on my DAVEINLA account
    iCloud on my e-mail account
What do I do so I can use iTunes Match and iCloud on my phone?
Any help would be appreciated. I contacted support and they gave me a curt "you cannot merge two Apple ID accounts". Really? Then you shouldn't have forced me to create one with the mobileme to iCloud conversion!

  • Translation of G/L account description

    HI all,
can any one explain  the steps for doing translation of GL account description in t.code: OB_GLACC13?
    regards,
    ramesh b

    Hi Ramesh
This transaction is to do a Mass change on with the same values for all the g/l accounts you selected.
Like change all the fields status group for these account in ZZZZ
The translation you have to do with the normal transaction for de master data G/L acounts.
When you habe a lot of entries you can create an LSMW for it

  • Translation of Balance Sheet accounts at Period End Rate and Income Stateme

    Hi All,
I have a requirement of Transalation of Balance Sheet accounts at Period End Rate and Income Statement Accounts at Average Rate.
How can we achieve this in oracle r 12.1.3
    Regards,
    Chirag

    Hi Chirag
As per Oracle following are the rules that has to be followed for translation.
    1. For Balance Sheet Accounts (Asset & Liabilities) GL as a default uses the YTD rule.
    2. For P&L Accounts you can choose between YTD and PTD rule. So in your case you can use the default PTD Rule. (Profile Option 'GL Translation: Revenue/Expense Translation Rule')
YTD Rule = (Translated Period Amount = Period-End Rate x YTD Ledger Currency Balance - Beginning Translated Balance).
PTD Rule = (Translated Period Amount = Period Average Rate x PTD Ledger Currency Balance)
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Gautam

  • Dial-Peer matches but fails to call out

    Hello,
Am trying to get my CME configured for Callcentric.  I have both an inbound and an outbound plan.
With my dial-peers configured for standard 11-digit and 10-digit dialing, calls go to fast busy after all digits except the last two are dialed.  Debug shows a dial-peer match initially, then states no match and the call fails.  If I change the destination pattern to match my cell phone number exactly, I can dial all the digits but the call still fails.  Anyone have a suggestion?
    Here are my dial peers:

  • How to handle iTunes Match with multiple libraries (one account, 5 family members)?

How would this work, in the situation below ...
Everyone has their own iCloud account (for their own syncing purposes).
But we (family) ALL share the same iTunes account (for purchasing).
How will this work, since we all have our own iTunes libraries?

One person sets up Match on their computer using the iTunes account.  Uploads everything to match.
I would recommend waiting until that person is done, and do computers one at a time.  No particular reason, just seems sensible.
Next person sets up match using same iTunes account details.  Uploads their stuff.  They will then see everything the previous user put into the system, unless you select "Hide music not on this computer" in the view menu.  Previous user will now see their stuff too.
    Rinse and repeat.
This is how it worked with my multiple machines anyway...  As long as every computer uses the same iTunes account for the store, you all get access to the same Match account.

  • Mis match in attributes of item category B and Blanket PO item details

    Hi
I could not able to create a Blanket PO with document type FO and item category B (limit).
Normally for a blanket PO, GR is not allowed and IR is mandatory. So, I could able to see these checkboxes for GR (not set and grayed) and IR (set and grayed) in the item details of the PO in delivery and invoice tabs. But I end with an error message that 'GR is not set is used is not allowed' (exactly i don't remember but some thing like that)
Before creating a blanket PO, I found that in 'attributes of item categories', that for the item category B, GR is set and IR is not set (in customizing-OMH4). Of course, one cannot change the attributes of item categories.
I suppose due to this mis-match in the attributes of item categories and that in the PO, I'm getting an error message while creating a blanket PO and could not able to save.
Also I have checked all the system messages for the message displayed. No where(i.e. in any message class or category and for that message number) I found any such message defined with error in 'attributes of system messages' for purchasing, material master, inventory, invoice verification etc.
I suppose this error message is coming somewhere from the application program for the PO.
So, what can be the solution
    waiting for your reply.
    thank you

Thank you for your answer. I haven't mention this point in my thread but I have already tried this.
I have tried matching the GR and IR controls of account assignment category with PO GR, IR controls and also with item category B, GR, IR controls. Still i am getting the same error and could not able to save the PO
Also I have checked the field settings for PO for all categories like transaction relevant, item category relevant, etc in customizing.
Main problem is both GR and IR controls are being grayed in PO. Other wise I could able to change them as per my wish and could able to avoid the error even though the GR and IR controls in PO are correct as per the process requirement.
If possible, please check the GR and IR controls for item category B (in my system it showing that GR is set with binding and IR is not set with binding). But it should be reverse as per the process requirements and in limit PO it is showing correctly. i.e. with GR is not set with binding and IR is set with binding.
    thank you

  • Sales Analysis report does not match Cost of Sales Account

My client is running SAP B1 8.81 PL 6.  He has set all items to standard costing method.  He has discovered that the difference between the Sales Amount and the Gross Profit amount on the Sales Analysis report, which should equal the Cost of Sales for the Items, does not match the Cost of Sales G/L account on the P&L report.  If you look at a sample of rows, the above difference divided by the quantity equals the standard cost of the item.  There are no manual journal entries that affect the COS account for the posting period that is being analyzed.  I cannot see any mathmatical difference or problem with the above analysis, nor can I find the problem.  There is about an $85K difference between the reports.  The Sales Amount on the Sales Analysis report matches the revenue account on the P&L to the penny.  Has anyone ever compared these 2 reports?  Thank you for your help.
    Bill Turek

If you right click on an Invoice and choose "Gross Profit" it will give you a setting on how you want to calculate the Gross Profit for that invoice.
In the accounting point of view the "Base Price" should be "Item Cost" so that the Gross Profit will be (Net Selling Price - Item Cost = Gross Profit). This will give you the same Gross Profit amount between P and L and Sales Analysis Report.
However, SAP B1 gives the user the ability to select a different base price other than the Item Cost.
This gives the user the flexibility for the Sales Report. Example (Net Sales Price - Vendor Sales Price = Gross Profit). People do this sometimes because  the item's cost fluctuates if you use FIFO or average cost and they want a uniform cost to calculate their Gross Profit.
In summary if the Base Price is not set to "Item Cost" then there will be difference in the Gross Profit between the P and L and Sales Analysis Report.

  • Currency translation differences with an effect on earnings

    Product Version: SAP R/3 46.C
    Componente: EC-CS-CSF-E Currency Translation
In currency translation program of ECCS (tx CX40) the prior year portion of translation differences that affects earnings is posted in current period in the earnings retain item (ER) which according to SAP documentation "Currency translation differences with subsequent consolidations" is correct, however when we run the currency translation on subsequents periods this amount is posted again generating a multiplying of differences on each period.
In accordance with section u201CBu201D of SAP note 553586, the carryforward item (retain earnings) was assigned to translation key 5, to avoid multiplications of this difference in every execution of currency translation for current period. This correction was applied successfully, however the problem is now generated when we run the currency translation in every subsequent period.
SAP notes 582815 and 553586 was applied succesfully.
We also verified SAP note 1045402 changing the translation key 5 to 1, for balance carryforward item (retained earnings) this avoids the difference effect on subsequents periods, but  generates a translation differential effect undesired on this item, since this is a historical item that not must be altered by currency translation.
Additionally we read SAP note 509509 and we think that this issue corresponds whit symptom 2 of that note.

When run the currency translation in the new year 1-2011, the prior year portion of translation differences that affects earnings is posted in current period a credit to earnings retain and debit to account difference in SET for this account. This amount is same on special balance sheet item 251200, in tx CXD3, also found on the statistical FS item.

    Hi,
just a information how I did a workaround about this:
The opening (movement type 100) of the balance sheet item "differences of currency translation" is customized with "don't change...".
Every increase  to "differences  of currency translation" works with e.g. movement type 120 and will be carried forward to 100.
Maybe this is a scenario you can use...

  • ITunes match with multiple libraries

I can't seem to find a satisfactory answer to this.  Namely, how does iTunes Match treat multiple libraries on the same Mac.  In my case, I spent a lot of time segregating my music.  Thus, I have a rock library, a classical library, an instrumental (Windham Hill and Narada) library, an ambient recording library.  It makes sense to me to do this rather that dump everything into one pot.  That way, I can load a Touch with a specific library and don't have to create a zillion playlists.  Using the same iTunes login, how will Match treat these different libraries?  Will it only concern itself with what it finds in the currently open library?  How will it treat different iPod Touches that are linked to a specific library?  Will it want to push the wrong music to a Touch? Would appreciate any thoughts.

I have old email address's I used for iTune music purchases and cannot change password on several old accounts. Now some of the music I purchased I can not download and authorize it on my device. What can I do password security does not match my birthdate on two of the accounts. Apple can not send me email with a password authorization on several current accounts that I have with them. How can I contact Apple with this annoying problem I can not fix.

settings - app/iTunes store - sign out and sign back in with your new id.
Note - if your older apps needs an update it will use your old apple id and password, as Apps are tied to the apple id that was used to purchase it.
    You can't merge apple id.
