HFM Metadata File deleted automatically in 11.1.2.3

Hello All
I have created HFM Metadata Manually in the Manage Metadata (Client), When I am saving the changes for the 2nd time, I got "unexpected error" and automatically deleted my Metadata file which I have created.
I faced this kind of error for 2 times, and its deleting my Metadata files which I have created. I could not find my Metadata files even in Recycle Bin.
I have spend 3 Hrs for Building HFM Metadata. My Efforts are gone to waste.
Is this is Bug in 11.1.2.3 Version?? Do I need to apply any patch for this??

Hi. Have you assigned the classes to the entities within the metadata? If so, how are you checking that there is access or no access - data grid? The user may still see the other entiies in member selection dialog boxes unless you've checked the enable metadata security filtering within application settings.
Regarding [default], have you assigned classes to EVERY metadata item? If not, and it's common not to, then give All access to [default].

Error Parsing MPEG metadata file (repeatedly!)

Hello, I am getting the error message "Error parsing MPEG Metadata file. deleting or renaming <pathname>\cache\temp_transcodes\ss_aJstrm_5\ss_AJstrm_v5.m2v.xmpses" will allow you to import, but any markers will be lost". I have a fairly simple DVD (I think) ..one menu (PAL_Projector-MENU) and 9 slideshows of JPEG images. I start to build a DVD or DVD Folder (tried both). I get "no errors detected" when I do a Project check. I keep cycling through these error messages hoping I am eventually going to get to the end. I delete the files as it suggests, and restart after it forces a save. I have gone round the cycle about 10 times - not sure when it's likley to end. Help anyone? XP Pro SP2, Pentium 4 CPU 3.00 GHz, 2GB RAM. Thanks Mark

Like I said, i don't use encore for slideshows, so I can't really give expert advice on this one. However I do 90% of my video productions with adobe software and 10% with pinnacle. I have had WAY too many issues burning DVD's and Playback issues and rendering issues with pinnacle, however their music video/slide show automation is by far the best out there. Aside from software we'll get back on topic. I would recommend starting a whole new slideshow from scratch. Create a new project, import new photos, etc. Start with the basics to do your trial and error. Don't use a menu, don't loop anything. Just import, set your title button to the first picture, and set the end action to stop. Then try to burn, however instead of wasting discs, try writing an image file, or even just build the dvd folders. Other than that, I'm not too sure what direction to head, but start basic and trial and error everything from that point. Remove caches file's automatically if you delete a folder from your drive???

When i remove/delete a folder in bridge, where will by the cache file of this folder??
Does it also Remove/delete automatically, ????
Or should I in the preferences box, tick on the (automatically Export Cache to folders when possible) option???

As the others say, no, the backup copy won't be deleted immediately, but it will eventually.
If you want to delete all backups of a selected item, such as for space or security reasons, see #12 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.

Music files are automatically getting deleted.

I am copied the music files from my hardrive to IPOD using itunes, but the files are automatically getting deleted after some time in IPOD. Can some one help me on this.

- How are yu adding the music to the iPod? Are yu syncing or manually managing music?
- Are you doing antything to the iPod when the music disappears?

I have been using Encore for about 4 years: 1.5 -> 2.
Recently I have had problems with projects exported as an avi file from Premier 2 and used in a simple menu and timeline in Encore 2. Typically projects were about an hour long. Chapter points were added in Encore automatically every 3 mins for general navigation assistance. I checked the project was OK and pressed Build. After watching the video transcoding progress bar creep to 100%, the error message appears immediately the process appears to have completed - "Error parsing MPEG Metadata file. Deleting or renaming filename.m2v.xmpses" will allow you to import, but any markers will be lost". On the previous occasion I went back to the assets, highlighted the avi file and transcoded it manually (automatically). No error message. I then built and burned the DVD.
I have sometimes cured problems by removing any info from the final chapter point - delete the visible info. This may have just solved this last problem despite the initial build being reported as being free of problems. Following the first problem I rechecked and was told there was a problem with the final chapter point. I deleted the chapter point info and it has built and burned satisfactorily.
Two questions.
What is causing this problem. I have burned lots of DVDs over the years with Encore. Is the use of chapter points the cause of the problem. There have been quite a lot of reports of this in other (Matrox) forums. I am using Matrox RTX100. How can I prevent this huge waste of time - a build may take me a couple of hours.
Is it better to export the Premier Pro2 timeline as an avi and use Encore for the transcoding, or is it better to export a trancoded file from Premier directly and just include this in the Encore project. If yes, which format should I export it in. I have the Premier and Matrox transcoding options.

Not sure if this is causing the error, but since version 2 Encore automatically adds a chapter point on the last available GOP. It could be that the last of your 3 minute chapter markers is closer to this final chapter point than 0.4 seconds. The DVD-Video specification requires chapter points to be at least 0.4 seconds apart.

Load HFM Metadata using VB 2010

Yes you are correct. Dimensions are different in HFM and Planning. I understand why we need different targets but my concern now is since Option B is correct and lets say I am extracting Net Income (Under Account Dimension) rollup from EBS into Shared Library. Will it automatically update Net Income in HFM and Planning both? (Note:-Net Income Rollup exists in both HFM and Planning) or I will have to manually drag and drop Net Income from shared library to HFM and Planning application?.
In other words does it update the Shared Library and applications at the same time?

Problem while creating metadata files

I created metadata files to add styles to Photoshop Elements 8 (in Windows 7) and included them in the C:\Program Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\8.0\Photo Creations\layer styles folder. The first several worked great and successfully showed up in the Styles Palette. Later, when I was trying to add more styles I received a message in PSE 'Could not load styles because the file could not be found'. I closed PSE. Now every time I open Editor I receive this message and it locks up the program. The only way I can close PSE is through Task Manager.
Any suggestions on how to correct this?

I put a copy of the third party styles in the Photoshop Elements Preset/styles folder and in the Photoshop Elements 8.0/Photo Creations/layer styles folder. From the Photo Creations/layer styles folder I selected an existing metadata file and copied it to my desktop. I changed the first part of the file name to the name of the new style (example: glitter 001.metadata). I then right clicked and opened with Notepad. When I found the name of the existing file I was using, I changed the name before the equation sign to the name of my new layer style with no spaces between words. Then I changed the name after the equation sign to the name of the new style with spaces between words (glitter001=glitter 001). I then deleted the lines below this except for the line /PSEContent leaving one space between the lines. I saved and closed the document. I then put the saved file in the Photo Creations/layer style folder. When I started PSE I held down the sift key when I selected Editor. As I said, the first two I did showed up fine. The next ones is where I had the problem.
I did all of this in the Admin account. When I go into my user account, PSE works but now I am afraid to try to add the layer styles.

ERPI - cannot run extract for HFM metadata rule

Hi,
I'm in the process of configuring ERPI for FDM/HFM, no EPMA, version 11.1.1.3. Things are working fine until I created an HFM metadata rule and wanted to run the extract.
I see the extract ID and I can look at the process details and see it in there, but nothing is happening: no processes in ODI Operator, no log entries for the process ID in ERPI.
Can somebody tell me what I'm missing? Also, is there a log file with information on what's going on behind the scenes, in case the process doesn't even get to ODI?

N85 picture deleted automatically

I have nokia n85. Recently I am having a problem. The pictures that I take with the camera are deleted automatically after some days. for xample I took a few picz about 2 weeks ago. I used to see them until today. But today they are gone. When I go via file manager, there is no pic. but in the gallery, only the title of those pic appears. But i have the pics of 3 months earlier. they r stored perfectly. only the recent photos r deleted. plz someone help.

What network are you on? Often the network will shrink down MMS messages to smaller sizes during transmission, to save themselves (but not you) some money.
That's a pretty tiny image, though, I don't think anyone's shrinking them that much.

Import metadata file for FDM

When I import the metadata file (including mapping) for FDM, I find that the mapping are not replacing the existing ones, but merging instead.
Is there a way to clear all the mapping tables before importing the new metadata xml file ? Thanks.

Hi,
You can log into the FDM web console, and Delete mappings for each dimension in the Activities -> Maps screen.
There is a Delete All button located on this screen. Note - this deletes by dimension.

What it the upper limit on metadata entries supported per metadata file in a file sync provider ?

I understand, Microsoft file sync provider metadata file is nothing but a Microsoft CE database, which cannot grow beyond 4GB. I also came to know that this metadata file is nothing but entries (aka details) of the files in the file system.
Does anyone know, how many entries would this knowledge file could contain considering only file additions ? (forget about updations and deletion tracking).

Dont bother posting to this one. I have checked plenty of other posts and there are millions of them. The basic problem is that apple don't seem to understand the meaning of sync. Sync usually means the meshing of two databases so that they match, instead this band of half witted, jean wearing, morons decided that the software should basically default to deleting one database and replacing it with another.
In every other post the answer always given is gee why didn't you have a back up, that's why I was trying to sync in the first place you dim witted moron.
ITunes *** the big one and is obviously there solely to lock people in and sell, sell, sell! This seems to be the apple mantra.

Metadata presets, deleting erroneous names

Metadata Preset list contains five metadata file-names I created... three of those are in error. How does one delete these list-names? I've right-clicked, left-clicked, file-searched, etc... and continue to draw a blank.

Here's what I continue to find with Windows' Vista Ultimate:
under (username)-Pictures-Lightroom exists two folders plus one I've found before named "Lightroom Database" (about 43KB). It is not a "Folder," but carries the "LR" designation. Clicking on the file simply opens Lightroom where I was last working. But there is no way to get into that Lightroom Database file, nor any listing of previously created metafile listed names.
While Lightroom Database is highlighted, under "Properties" the Attributes "Read only" and "Hidden" are unmarked.
I remain totally baffled. While in Lightroom and working with an image I can create a NEW "Save as New Preset" Metadata profile/name... but I can't delete any of the five I previously created.

DART file deletion

This is not my area of expertise - so please bear with me.
I am an ABAP programmer - and the financial people are asking me this question.
We have entered OSS's and I am looking through the documentation and code to try to figure it out - but I thought I would try this as well.
Hopefully I have this in the correct forum.
I understand that in DART you create extract files, then these files are archived to some kind of optical disk and then these files can be retrieved later if need be back into SAP.
That is the basic idea of DART.
In our system the files are written to our unix system. For example, this was a test we created:

After creating the files the next step is to archive them.
We used transaction FTWL the export to archive button.
A job is started and it says it ran successfully.

Reading the documention and looking at the logs through FTWL - status 4000 means it ran successfully.
Now to the question.
What they are telling me is after this job finishes - the files should be deleted from the unix directory.
At least that is how it used to work.
But the files are still there.
We have had several unix changes - and we have upgraded from 4.6C to ERP 2005 - so we are not sure when the change happened.
My question is - what actually deletes the files?
Is it a program inside SAP?
Or is the the archiving system?
Or should the files be automatically deleted and we have to delete them by hand?

Archiving data extracts does not delete them. Once an extract has been archived, it cannot be used in queries. To delete, you need to use FTWK (Delete data extracts). Be careful though of using FTWK (like any other deletion utility).
