HFM: Sample applications and tutorial

Does hyperion have a sample applications? Because as of now i am using the HFM applications and i'm not connected to workspace. But i dont have sample data or applications.
If you have some tutorial can you please give me.

For 9.3.1, you can choose to have sample application during installation. In 9.5, the sample apps are copied during installation.
For 9.5, you can see sample applications in C:\Hyperion\products\FinancialManagement\Sample Apps.
For the sample apps, you have to load the data into HFM on your own, including profile, security, metadata, rule file, data, journals,..etc to review the content.

But when I tried opening the application, I do not see the sample application and also got an error saying,"cannot connect to server".
When I tried creating new application I got an error saying,"there is an error retrieving the user management project list.Please verify that the project exists".
All I want to do is, to provision the shared services users to the HFM sample applications. Could you provide some suggestions to overcome this issue? I'll appreciate your quick response.

Missing EJB application and tutorial sample in workshop 8.1

HI,
I just installed workshop 8.1 from the BEA CD. I wanted to follow the EJB tutorial
that's available in e-docs on the web, however, i don't see the Enterprise JavaBeans
tutorial (the Band example) in the list of new Applications (under tutorial).
I also don't see a new application template of Enterprise javaBeans under 'All'
(not sure if there should be one).
Could someone please let me know why I'm missing the Enterprise javaBeans tutorial
and how I can get it? Also, why don't I see an application template for EJB Application?

Do you know where can i can the instructions on how to load the sample applications?
Because it says on the hfm_admin pdf that:
Instructions for loading the sample files are
included in the Documentation folder of each application.
does anyone know where can i find the instructions?

The instructions will be in your HYPERIONHOME\APP\Sample Apps\ directory.
Go to your Financial Management server change into that directory and there will be a .doc file in a Documentation directory.
For instance: D:\Hyperion\FinancialManagement\Sample Apps\Comma\Documentation

CRAZY!!! What would cause my system to start magically deleting random applications and files???
An improper shutdown or restart can cause the filesystem corruption.

The repair permission errors are innocuous. Dejavu is looking for the volinfo.database which is missing. This database keeps a record of permission enabled and disabled mounts (disks).

Sample Applications and/or obtaining apps from Influxis

Anyone have a list of other sites providing example apps
and/or free applications for download? I also was interested in
getting some of the apps from Influxis to test with. Has anyone
been able to get any of those? LEt me know.

I have used their services before. You can get the
applications from influxis by registering with them. Those
application are free included in the registration fee. However, you
will get only client code (flash fla files) and not the server
code.

Problem with packageing and deploying a sample application

HI,
I have tried to download and install the server in my system. I am able to deploy a sample application using autodeploy utility.
But when i tried to package a new sample application and deploy i am getting 404 error. For application server i have used 7070 port and not the default 8080 port will this a problem to package & deploy sample application provided with this software.
The error is as below:
HTTP Status 404 - /hello1

message /hello1
description The requested resource (/hello1) is not available.

Btw, verify that the url you are trying to access is correct. For instance, assuming you deploy app. without --contextroot option. By default, the url is http://<host>:<port>/<web module name>/<value of url-pattern in web.xml> if your app contains servlet. If your app has jsp then it's http://<host>:<port>/<web module name>/<value of url-pattern in web.xml>/<name of jsp>

Problem with ur sample Application

i developed an application to do basic authentication with the Database using a JSP. i was able to sign in proper but when i sign out of the application , i can't sign out ie the session variables are not clearing out and then i went to ur sample application and test it , it also works the same way ie it doesn't clear the session variables. Can u refer it and give me a suggestion. If u want to know the exact problem this is it.
U have a sign-in url in ur auctions application . After u sign-in ,it is converted in Signout url . But if i click on it , it does show the sign-in but shows the sign out only.

Before running bankapp, you must set the BLKSIZE parameter in the bankvar
file to a multiple of the machine file.
The README file explains how to set BLKSIZE.
For HP-UX, BLKSIZE must be set to 1024 or to a multiple of 1024.

Authentication Scheme for sample application in Oracle Express

All, I recently installed Oracle Express on linux and I was browsing the sample application and when I look up the Authentication Scheme for this app I get the message
No authentication schemes have been defined. You can create a new authentication scheme starting with the Create Scheme button above
Now when I click "Authentication Status " I see

Yet when I run the app I know it is looking up the data in the demo_users table. What I don't see is where the function custom_auth is defined for this app as the function to call for authenticating users. Can someone point me in the right direction.
Also has anyone upgraded apex in express to 2.2. Any issues?

I think i found it when you are in list view no schemes appear. However, when you switch to detail view then I can see the custom scheme.

Running LiveCycle sample applications

I have a new LiveCycle installation on Ubuntu (8.04) following "Preparing to Install LiveCycle ES (Single Server)" and "Installing and Deploying LiveCycle ES for jBoss" with sample applications and mysql as database.
I'm starting jBoss with "./run.sh -c all -b 192.168.0.11" and I can access the admin interface from "http://192.168.0.11:8080/adminui", but i cannot access samples on "http://192.168.0.11:8400/lcds-samples/" . The server is not listening on port 8400 on any interface.
How can I access the samples?

I think there is a little confusion here.
You mention installing LiveCycle ES on Unbuntu.
My first question is: Do you really mean LiveCycle ES (Enterprise Suite) or LiveCycle DS (Data Services)?
I am assuming you mean LiveCycle ES since you mention that you can access http://localhost:8080/adminui. In this case, I would like to forwarn you that Ubuntu is not a supported environment for LiveCycle ES. We support Suse Enterprise Linux or RedHat Advanced Server for Linux flavours. Having said that, I would like to clarify that the sample applications that come with LiveCycle ES are accessed from the following URLs:
http://localhost:8080/workspace (Process Management Web UI)
http://localhost:8080/FormsIVS (LiveCycle Forms Installation Verification Sample)
http://localhost:8080/ReaderExtensions (LiveCycle Reader Extensions Web UI)
http://localhost:8080/contentspace (LiveCycle Content Services web ui)
http://localhost:8080/edc (LiveCycle Rights Management Web UI)
The sample URL that you are referring to (lcds-samples) is not provided with LiveCycle ES since it is part of the LiveCycle DS (Data Services) installation.
