HFM Server / Cluster Registration

Is there any way to run this utility silently? If we are to deploy the client to remote workstations silently i would think there was a away to configure the cluster per workstation as well.
Any input is appreciated.
Thanks.

You could capture the registry entries and DCOM entries.
Usually you only put the HFM client out to a handful of application admin people which would make me wonder why you need to automate it.

Start->Run and enter dcomcnfg. On the component services app open Component Services->Computer->My Computer right click "My Computer" and select Properties. Go to the Default Properties tab and verify that you have "Connect" for Default Authentication Level and "Identity" Default Impersonation Level.

Set up the HFM cluster on the FR Studio machine.
    1. Go to Start > All Programs > Hyperion >Financial Management >Server and Web Configuration
    2. Go to the Server/Cluster Registration tab.
    3. Enter the computer name of the HFM server used to get cluster information or the name of the single server if using a non-clustered environment. The HFM server needs to be referenced exactly as it is on the HFM server (hostname/IP/FQDN/clustername, as well as case-sensitivity for any letters).
    4. Apply and OK.
    5. Restart FR Studio.
Note: if HFM client is not on the FR Studio box, it will need to be installed prior to set up of the HFM cluster as listed above.

  • Error Registering server cluster on HFM web server

    Hi,

    (Wed Apr 06 17:57:48 2011) Starting RegisterServer

Please let me know if any one has solution for the above issue.
    Thanks,
    Bhargav

    Hi,
    I Don't know your version
here is a detailed way to do the same:
Hyperion Financial Management - Version: 9.2.1.0.00 and later [Release: 9.2 and later ]
    Error
Failed to register server: Access is denied.
    Line:3809 File: .\CEPMWindowsConfig.cpp Error code:0x80070005
    Error: Access is denied.
    Cause
Windows Server Group Policy settings for DCOM block the HFM registration to Shared Services.
    Solution
HFM requires full access for ANONYMOUS LOGON in DCOM Limits Configuration.
This can be set up as follows:
Open DCOM configuration console: run 'dcomcnfg' from Run or Command Prompt
Open up Component Services / Computers
Right Click on My Computer and choose Properties
In the Launch and Activation Permissions, click the Edit Limits button
This button may be disabled using Windows Security Policy. To enable this button the following Windows registry keys must be removed:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\DCOM\MachineAccessRestriction
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\DCOM\MachineLaunchRestriction
Once these keys are removed and the system restarted you can use the above steps to add ANONYMOUS LOGON in the Edit Limits section. Once this is done, open Configuration Utility and register HFM to Shared Services.
    Follow step by step,
tell me if it doesn't work

  • Is there any way to create a VMvmare server cluster?

    Hi,
I have two machines which don't support install ESXi, these machines are running centos 5 with no X and I installed vmware server 2.0.
My question is, is there any way to create a vmware server cluster like is possible create in ESX?
I know in ESX once you create a cluster, the resources are increased since resources are added. Is there any way to do same thing with vmware server 2.0?
Also is there any other option for my machines, I don't want to install X since the machines don't have much resource.
    Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the COmmunit - With VMware server each environment functions independently and there is no way to pool resources as you can with a DRS cluster - and remembering even in a DRS cluster the VMs swill only run on a single host at a time as they would in VMware Server machines/
Also just because it is not suppported does not mean you will not be able to create a VM with an unsupported OS -

  • Shadow Copies on 2012 R2 File Server Cluster

    Hello all!
I've inherited a two node physical 2012 R2 file server cluster that contains a few SMB shares on a single clustered disk.  I'd like to enable shadow copies for this shared disk but want to store the shadow copy data on its own shared disk
as per shadow copy best practices (at least on non-clustered file servers).
I created a second cluster disk, assigned it to the same resources as the SMB clustered disk.
Now historically I've enabled shadow copies through computer management but I want to ensure the shadow copies are cluster aware so in the Failover Cluster Manager I open Storage | Disks and right click the SMB cluster disk and click the Shadow Copies tab.
From the tab I can Enable shadow copies, this sounds like what I'm looking for, unfortunately it does not give me an option to choose a disk/volume to store my shadow copy data, so this can't be right.
My next step was to connect computer management to the cluster virtual server name (NOCFS4) and through the System Tools | Shared Folders | All Tasks | Configure Shadow Copies it shows me the correct number of shares on the SMB cluster disk plus
I can see the Settings button for configuring the location and size limit for shadow copies, however once I tweak the shadow copy location and size settings, click Ok and click Enable to turn on the shadow copies I get a long pause and an error about
not being able to create a schedule. So it seems connecting to the cluster virtual object is not the answer either.
That leaves using computer management to connect to one of the physical server nodes of the cluster. When I open the shadow copy interface on the physical node I note that it shows a 0 for the number of shares it detects on the SMB clustered disk.
This doesn't surprise me since this interface isn't cluster resource aware.
So I'm stuck. Does anyone know the "Microsoft way" to enable shadow copies on a clustered disk while storing the shadow copy data on a second cluster disk both attached to the same cluster resource?

    Hi guys
I spotted exactly same problem right now on Windows 2012 R2 with latest updates.
Enabling Shadow Copy via Cluster Manager on disk will enable schedule and snapshots but schedule is not-cluster aware (is created locally on node) and "Previous Versions" are visible only locally but not via shared folders (UNC path accesible by
    clients)
When I spotted this behavior I tried different way going via Computer Management and cluster resource name but console always hangs for me when using "Configure Shadow Copies". After many minutes configuration window is opened (Hurray!) but any
action there will hang whole console again. Enabling Shadow Copies will fail with "0x80004005: Unspecified
error" for creating scheduled task but "Next Run Time" column still shows "Disabled". Checking disk resource via Cluster Manager shows it is enabled and ?local? scheduled task is created.
Computer management console still shows DISABLED and any action freezes whole console (only when cluster resource name is used).
This fix I found, unfortunately, is not applicable to 2012 R2 OS: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2894464
To sum up there is a major bug in MS implementation in Shadow Copies for Shared Folders when clustering is used or it is still not supported in 2012 R2? Doing it outside cluster works as it should (without freezes and Previous Versions are available via
    UNC)
There is no documentation about FileServer Clustering on 2012(R2) unfortunately.
Could someone from MS clarify it?
    Many thanks
    Filip
    EDIT:
    Ok, one correction:
Scheduled task is not created in "Failover Clustering" hive of Scheduled tasks as user may expect but failover of fileshare to other node will unregister/reregister it on active node only.

  • Install Oracle 10g on Windows 2003 Server cluster (MSCS)

    Hi all
How do I install Oracle 10g on Windows 2000 cluster (MSCS installed)?
I have a 2-nodes Microsoft windows 2003 server cluster and I want to install Oracle 10g,
    Do I folloow this order:
    1. Install the software on both without the database
    2. Create the database from the first node
in this case, The second node can see the database as it is available?,
and what about the IP adresses?
If you can point me to some documentation, or help in any way, I would appreciate it.
    Thanks for any help.

Oracle Fail Safe comprises multiple components: Oracle Fail Safe Manager, Oracle Services for MSCS, and server components specific to Oracle Fail Safe.

So I don't know how you can achieve this without Fail Safe.

  • Can anyone help me?Creating the shadow copies in the file server cluster ,there are some errors occured, OS version is WSS 2012

I construct a failover cluster(file server,AP module) for sharing files by WSS 2012,and I want to use the shadow copies to backup my data, but when making  a shadow copies on the volume which  is added to the cluster(not the CSV,just add
it to the cluster and use it to share files,it plays the role of file server),there are some errors occured, these errors result in the shadow copies failed, error likes the following pictures:
1: the disk F is added to the cluster, first I make the shadow copies by click the right key of mouse on the disk F,and chouse the configeration shadow copies, and click the settings, then click the schedule , and I wait just a few seconds, the error is appeared, like
this picture 1, the wait operation timed out,and then ,
I click the schedule button once again,a different error occured, like the following picture," the object already exists",if i don't set the schedule at first ,use the default shedule, and click the enable button also the same  error must
    accure
but the only diffrence is that, a shadow copy time point is created, also ,you can make the shadow copies by click " create now", that is creating the shadow copies manually. Although it can succesfully make the shadow copies, but when I select
a time point to revert, error  occured, "A volume that contains operating system files or resides on a cluster shared disk cannot be reverted"
In a word, all the errors above make the shadow copies by schedulling failed, except making the shadow copies manually, but what makes me confused is that I have ever maked the shadow copies succesfully by schedul a policy,I don't know what makes it succesful,
it's small probability, most of time ,it's failed. No matter what kind of situation, revert must be failed.
I'm sorry for my pool english , it's the first time for me getting help in forum by english ,I don't know if I descripe my question clearly, also ,other method like the link
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc784118(v=ws.10).aspx I have tried, but the same errors occured. Can anyone tell me How can I make the shadow copies in File Server
cluster(AP module)? And I make a mistake in operating? Looking forward for your reply. Thanks!

    Hi,
Please check the following 2 places:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Cluster\Tasks
    C:\Windows\System32\Tasks
First please compare permission settings of the folder C:\Windows\System32\Tasks with a working computer. Correct permission settings if anything wrong. Specifically, confirm you current account do have permission on this folder.
As it said "object already exists", find the schedules you created before, backup and delete all these schedules in both registry key and folder.
Then test to create a new schedule to see if issue still exists.
Meanwhile what kind of storage device you are using? The issue could occur on specific storage device, so test to enable shadow copy on a local disk to see if that will work.
TechNet Subscriber Support in forum |If you have any feedback on our support, please contact [email protected]
Thank you for you reply. On the local volume, all of these errors will not occur, but the volume in the file server cluser. There is no value in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Cluster\Tasks. On local volume, everything goes well about the shadow copy, so I do not
think something is wrong about the permission settings of the folder C:\Windows\System32\Tasks.Storage device  is a SAN,we use RAID6 and provide the LUNs to the NAS engine, and the make the volume on these LUNs, Is Angthing wrong? Hope for you

  • Listener service not start automatically after reboot in Win2K server Clust

    Hi all,
I set up a two node Server Cluster with Microsoft Windows 2000 server cluster service. Hardware are two HP DL380 servers and HP MSA500 (the shared storage). The cluster's IP address is 10.1.241.65. When I shut down both servers and restart the primary server, the listener server service will not start automatically. The listener log is:
    Started with pid=1108
    Error listening on: (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=10.1.241.65)(PORT=1521)))
TNS-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist
    TNS-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
TNS-00515: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist
32-bit Windows Error: 49: Unknown error
The service is set up automatically start. I suspect the cluster virtual IP is not available immediately after reboot. So I tried setting the Recovery after first failure and second failure to 3 minitues each, and setting up Dependencies of the listener on the cluster service in the Win2K Service panel. Neither worked.
The service can be manually start.
    Any suggestion?
    Frank.

The command to start automatically the listener is :
    lsnrctl start
check the parameters in : <ORACLE_HOME>/network/admin/listener.ora
check the IP address or host name

Do the following to check the SMS self-signed certificates
    Start MMC.exe
Add/Remove Snapin -> Select Certificates -> Select local computer
    Locate the SMS folder
Find the SMS Signing certificate and SMS Encryption Cerrtificate - check if they have expired. If they have expired - delete them.

  • Content server cluster

    Hi,
The doc. seems to indicate that the content server is not cluster-aware. When we use WebLogic we don't want to rely always on the WebLogic's cluster failover capabilities. There are too many things running on WebLogic.
Can I access a content server cluster that is separate from WebLogic ?

  • Create directory on a two-node Oracle server cluster

    Hi,
How can I create directory on a two-node Oracle server cluster (2 identical servers running the same Oracle database instances with shared disks)? Both of them run Windows 2008.
I know this works for Oracle running in a single server. How about in failover cluster environment?
    CREATE OR REPLACE DIRECTORY g_vid_lib AS 'X:\video\library\g_rated';
    Thanks.
    Andy

Using 11.2.0.? Using ASM? use ACFS - it is a SHARED file system.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E16338_01/server.112/e10500/asmfilesystem.htm
    create [big empty disk group]
create ACFS volume {container file that lives in that diskgroup]
    create ACFS file system
    mount the file system.
Now, all nodes in the cluster can access that shared device at the OS level just as if it were any other device.

  • Regarding shared file system requirement in endeca server cluster

    Hi,
Our solution involves running a single data domain in an endeca server cluster.
As per the documentation, endeca server cluster requires shared file system for keeping index file for follower node to read.
    My questions are,
Can I run the endeca cluster with out shared file system by having the index file on each node of the endeca server cluster?
Can dependency on shared file system be a single point of failure, if yes how can it be avoided?
I really appreciate your feedback on these questions.
    thanks,
    rp

    Hi rp,
The requirement for a shared file system in the Endeca Server cluster is a must. As this diagram shows, the shared file system maintans the index, and also maintains the state of the Cluster Coordinator, which ensures cluster services (automatic leader election, propagation of the latest index version to all nodes in the data domain). A dependency on a shared file system can be a single point of failure and requires to run a backup, -- this is a standard IT approach, that is, it is not specific to the Endeca Server cluster in particular.
See this section on Cluster Behavior, for info on how the shared file system is used (the topic "how updates are processed"), and on how increased availability is achieved.

  • Print Server cluster role removed

    Hi All,
One of my customer is asking as to the technical reason why print server cluster role has been removed in server 2012 and R2. Or in other words, why Microsoft has removed this feature. Through VM clustering, we can do HA but why not directly. Can anyone
    help me on this.

_I've got no official source for this_
Print server clustering introduced a couple of pitfalls. Many (most) print server clusters I've seen don't really have better availability than a single vm. That is partially caused by driver hell caused by admins taking a working printserver for granted
and not following recommended procedures to add printers and queus to the cluster, and partially because vendors really don't care about clustering.
I can imagine that from Microsoft's point of view this was very hard to support. As Hyper-V introduced HA without the need to exchange drivers over multiple hosts, this is far more easy to implement, maintain and support.

  • Backup File Server Cluster

I have a windows 2008 file server cluster.  We have an issue with our backups in backupexec where the jobs were decreasing performance on our network.  We have our backup server configured for a new separate network.  The file server cluster
is configured for our data network.  Is there a way to make the file server cluster configured for both data network and backup network?  I am trying to get out backup job of the file cluster to not degrade performance of our data network.

Sure! You can make your file server "listen" and respond to multiple networks. See all options listed here:

    Good luck :)
