HFM to pass data into Essbase

Hi
One of my clients requirment is to pass the data from HFM into Essbase after doing teh journal entries. Is EIS the only way or is there a better way of synchronizing HFM and Essbase together. Also, if EIS is included with teh license deal with Essbase and HFM

HFM has the internal feature to eliminate at a common parent point, so that sales data remains at lower levels.
If you use pre Sys9 HFM and Essbase, without any ELT tools, how can you replicate HFM elimination feature inside essbase using HFM base data?
Does a calc shell exist to traverse ragged hierarchies to do the same elimination in essbase?

Loading data into essbase - can't stop the loading process

Hello Everyone
I have built an interface which loads data into essbase.
The interface was working great until last night, don't know why it got stuck in the stage of loading data into essbase
(This is my bonus question, why? does it have anything to do wit hte fact that I have refreshed the database via planning)
Any way, we have tried to kill the loading process by clicking stop on the interface execution in operator, and even after we killed the
session in essbase it was still there in essbase.
Does anyone know why?

I can't answer your questions but ...
I'm really familiar with the fact that trying to stop an execution fail.
The only solution I found is to pass by an agent for all my executions.
With an agent if I have a problem, as an emergency I can stop the agent it will stop the execution...
I'm sure that it is a bit dirty but it works...
And that is better than nothing...
The ugliest and only way I found without agent to stop an execution was to drop a table used by the job (like a I$ table) it forces the failed...
Sorry no more clue.

Error while loading Data into Essbase using ODI

I am very new to ODI. I have installed ODI and working on Demo environment only. I havn't done any configuration. I am using Essbase Technology which is coming by default.
I have created one sample outline in Essbase and a text file to load data into essbase using ODI.
Following my text file.

I am getting the error. I have checked in Operator. It is giving at step 6 i.e. Integration SampleLoad data into essbase.

No dataload.err: Using ODI to load data into Essbase

Hi,
I am using ODI to load data into Essbase. In the load data KM options, I select the rule file and mention that errors be logged.
After executing the data load through ODI, I get a log file and an error file. But the error file does not have the bad record like the "dataload.err" has when I load data through EAS and use the same data and rules file.
Am I missing some option? Is there some option to log the bad data to the error file or some option to generate a dataload.err file while using ODI?

I have set LOG_ERRORS to Yes and given a file name. A file is generated everytime the interface is executed, but the file is blank.
I have also set the Log_enabled to Yes. The log file is generated and has the error in it. The error line in the Log file ( not the error file) looks like this -

Unexpected Essbase error 1090004 while loading data into EssBase

Hi Friends,
am tring to load data into Essbase the following error am getting..
"Unable To Open File [C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\tempfile6051912_1.txt]
Unexpected Essbase error 1090004"
but there is no such file("tempfile6051912_1.txt") in that file path
Can anybody help inthis..

Am loading data with out selecting any rule file as it's the data file which is extracted from Prod envirement and loading into QA.
I have followed your procedure as i kept data file in (E:\Hyperion\products\Essbase\eas) ,because there no analyticalservices folder as we are using 11.1.1.3 version of hyperion.
still am getting the following error"Unable To Open File [C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\tempfile605252012.txt]

Dynamically passing data into a running while loop from a DAQ assist. in an ouside while loop

Hello, I'm currently a student working on a senior project and I'm trying to do a state machine that will turn off and turn on a compressor depending on time and coprocessor failure.
In the run state, wich is #1 on the case structure box I placed the DAQ assist. Which takes in data from an accelerometer. If the accelerometer's value is above the limit four times it will end the loop or if the time runs out it will end the loop.
The problem I am having is that i need to run four compressors. I was thinking about having four case structures all within the outside loop, but I can only have the DAQ assist in one location. This means that I now have to move the DAQ assist out of the run loop or run all four compressors in the one case structure. If i remove the DAQ assist. I can only get it take in data once when the loop starts and never again. I understand why, but is there a way to dynamically pass data froma DAQ assist. into a running loop?
Also on a side note, i can't find a tutorial on how to really create a state machine using Enums. Does any one know where to find this.

in labview choose file->new... then pick standard state machine and there are instructions.
you can create a custom control and either use an enum, text ring or menu ring. Edit the values and then save the control and drop into your vi and you can wire this to your case structure

Passing data into a variable

Hi,
All I want to do is pass numerical data into a variable, and then access it later.
Specifically, I use the Read Vector Space Position VI to find the X and Y positions of my motors. When I press a button, I want the X and Y position at that moment to be saved, so that I can access this information later.
I would like to do this in a subVI.
I have read tutorials on functional global variables, but so far they have been quite confusing. Specifically I do not know how to place/use uninitialized shift registers.
If someone could create a simple example code, that would be extremely helpful. I am using Labview 2011.

Use the call syntax ...
empTest.Details(to_date('10-DEC-01','DD-MON-RR'));
.. or better yet ...
empTest.Details(to_date('10-DEC-2001','DD-MON-YYYY'));
As you are passing a date you do not need to use the to_date function in the cursor SQL statement.

--Your sub report should be placed above your calculations in main report. ie. after processing of your sub report only you get data into your main report.
--While writing formulas in sub report or in main report you will have to use Whileprintingrecords; to get get data into your shared variables. Eg:
Whileprintingrecords;
shared numbervar x;
x:=x+fieldvalue;
--When you create a formula in sub report it should be plced on your sub report, use the same variable name while creating a formula in main report.
Make sure that the shared variable which you are calling in the main report should be in the below section of the sub report. If you want to pass the sub report to the main report in the same section then insert section below the sub report

Error loading data into Essbase from the SQL Server

Hello experts!
I've got another urgent and confusing issue. I am loading data from an SQL Server view into Essbase (which is reversed with multiple data columns) using ODI 11.1.1.5 and I get the following error at +"3-Loading -SrcSet0-Load Data"+ step:
ODI-1227: Task SrcSet0 (Loading) fails on the source MICROSOFT_SQL_SERVER connection.
+Caused By: java.sql.SQLException: [FMWGEN][SQLServer JDBC Driver][SQLServer]Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'View'+
where "View" is the name of the dimension (non-data) column in the SQL view.
Please help me with any hints! Thank you so much!

Your answer is exactly correct!
"View" is an object name in SQL Server so this word cannot be used as a column name in SQL Server tables. Once the name of the colunm changed from "View" to another, the interface runs without errors!

Error while load data into Essbase using ODI

Hi ,
I'm getting the following error while loading measures into Essbase using ODI, I used the same LOG nd Error file and file path for all my Dimensions , this worked well but not sure why this is not working for measures....need help.

Are you definitely running it against an agent where that path exists.
Have you tried using a different location and filename, have you restarted the agent to make sure there is not a lock on the file.

Passing data into event

Simple Question: I have text controls that I wish to take values from when a button is pressed. Using Events, how do I get values and store them...

Are the values needed in any other portion of the program other than when the button is pressed? If not, you could place the controls within the event structure so that their values are only read when the button controlling the event structure is read. Note, though, that if the values are passed from the event structure to other portions of the program you need to determine the best approach for passing data when the button is not pressed (perhaps passing through a value from the last event).
In the event that the controls are needed in other parts of the program separate from the event structure you can use local variables to read the current value of the controls.

Unable to load data into Essbase cube using Essbase Studio

Hi
We are creating an essbase cube using Essbase Studio using flat files as data sources.
We have taken different hierarchies into different flat files and created one fact file having dimension intersection along with data.
We are able to create the cube and the hierarchy but not able to load any data.
We are getting the following error
Failed to deploy Essbase cube.
Caused by: Unable to perform dataload from more than one flat file.
Could anyone please help on this?

Oh this was killing me, so I did this test in 11.1.1.3:
1) Excel 2007 format -- no go, Essbase didn't see it
2) Excel 2003 format, three sheets -- only the first sheet was read into an empty rule
3) Excel 2003 format, one sheet -- the first sheet was read into an empty rule
4) Excel 95 format, one sheet -- the first sheet was read into an empty rule
The lesson?
1) Excel 2007/2010 sheets don't work (no surprise there as the .xlsx format isn't supported).
2) Excel 2003 and lower (hey, if you have Excel 4, I'll bet that works as well) work, but only the first sheet is recognized.
