HFM v11.1.1.2

Hi All,
I have a client that is currently on HFM v11.1.1.2, they work with Shared services, FDM, EPMA, Financial reports and WebAnalysis on a 32-bit distributed invironment, SQL2003 is their repository. They now have a requirement to upgrade as their servers is reaching end of life, will be on windows 2008 R2, SQL 2005/8 and 64-bit, can anyone guide me to the required documentation that would show what the minimum hardware requirements would be? Any help would be appreciated.

Windows 2008 will not support both v11.1.1.2 and v11.1.1.3 of EPM.

Smartview reports do not open in HFM v11.1.2.1 after upgrade from v9.3.1.

Smartview reports when I attempt to open in HFM v11.1.2.1 (after upgrade from v9.3.1), points me to launch v9.3.1 workspace. Any advise pls... Thanks, Mark

I still don't fully understand the issue. Smart View is not launched from Workspace -- it is instead run from within one of the Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Are you instead asking about Financial Reports? These are run from the Explore menu within Workspace. You can view these as html or PDF.
A little more confusing is the fact that Smart View can run a Financial Report from within any of the Office products. In any case, when you use Smart View in 11.1.2.1 you could open a connection to the Workspace server (the connection in Smart View is defined in the Smart View options under Advanced > Shared Connections URL). Assuming you have provided a correct URL there, pointing to the 11.1.2.1 workspace server, you should see the available shared connections when you open a new conenction.
I re-read your e-mail and wonder if you are confusing things a bit. If you log into Workspace, using Internet Explorer, each user has their own preferences as to what page launches by default upon login. I think you are saying that a usr logging into the 11.1.2.1 workspace somehow has a default page leading them back to the 9.x workspace? If so, check their preferences to examine the default document and it's URL. Once logged into Workspace, choose File > Preferences > General, to view the Startup page. You can make any changes here, but this is user-by-user.

Re-config HFM v11.1.1.3, error occur on config database

When I tried to re-config the HFM V11.1.1.3, I got an error on config database and cannot be proceed. But, I can successfully config workspace, SS, FR and can login workspace, SS without problems.
When I check the application event log, the following is found.
"The Apache service named reported the following error:
[warn] module expires_module is already loaded, skipping."
Anyone know what's is going on?

HFM V11 upgrade questions

Hi All,
We are in the process of upgrading our HFM application from V9.3.3 to V11.
I would like to seek your opinion / views on following questions re: HFM upgrade.
1) If we are upgrading now - is it better to upgrade to HFM V11.1.2.4 or V11.1.2.3.500? Is HFM V11.1.2.4 stable enough?
2) Our current HFM V9 application is classic application. If we upgrade to HFM V11 - is it better to upgrade to EPMA application or still remain with HFM Classic application? Is HFM Classic application (without EMPA) supported by Oracle?
Thanks in advance for any suggestion / tips / pointers.

Please advise if anyone has upgraded from v9.3.1.1 to v11.1.1.3 , also from a SQL to an Oracle database.
Is it possible to do this? Can the copy app functionality be utilised?

You can easily copy HFM from one database to aother using the HFM Copy App utility. I have done this successfully. You will have a bigger issue with other products, such as FDM, but for HFM only it's easy.

HFM V11.1 Application Currency

Can anyone list any potential problems, issues or reasons not to, change our default applicaiton currency from GBP to USD. Our company structure has changed and thought this change could potentially improve the performance of the applicaiton.

First of all, the application default currency in the app settings is only used as a last resort, if HFM cannot find a direct (C1 to C2) exchange rate between child and parent currency in translation, or an indirect (C2 to C1) rate. HFM will finally try to find an exchange rate by triangulating from C1 to app currency to C2. If it finally cannot find an exchage rate, it will not translate the value. This is spelled out in the HFM user guide.
Second, and more importantly, this has nothing to do with performance. I would say you should not make this change if you are trying to improve system performance. Please look elsewhere: your application design, rules, data volumes, usage, or infrastructure. In many cases, application performance is impacted greatest by rules. Perhaps second to that would be infrastructure design, and in a majority of these cases virtualization is the cause of poor performance, followed closely by database problems.
Spend your time wisely and look first at your rules and metadata design. Don't bother changing this one setting which is most likely not even used.

V11 Errors in Consolidations (HFM) - Please Help!

We have a HFM v11 Application, that we have migrated from v9.2.
We seem to be getting 2 errors when we run consolidations, within the system messages. The consolidations seem to complete OK.

You are attempting a numerical operation (i.e. -1) on a variant/string. vbscript will attempt to automatically convert the result of the call to FirstYr_of_Scenario to a numeric value; however, if it cannot convert it, you will get an error as described previously.
I would check the function out as it is probably returning "" for some reason. (Write the output of that call to a log file or something)

Bugs in HFM 11.1.2.2.300 ?

Dear experts,
I want to know if my issue below is caused by bug in HFM v11.1.2.2.300:
FYI, I'm using EPMA and my HFM is shared with Dimension Library
1. After running a consolidation, my elimination journal is created as I wanted. Clicking on Manage Journal brings me to the list of journal (above) and below is journal detail. But when i want to move to one journal and another, i got warning on the screen "The journal you are trying to load has been deleted and cannot be processed. Please refresh the journal list". I didn't intend to delete or do anything to the journal, only wants to view it. So, when I lower down the viewing screen, i'm able to select the journal list without any prompt message and i pull up again the journal view and voila!! the screen displaying my other journal. This is not happening when i'm viewing a normal journal (as in <entity cur adjs> level)
2. In my server, I have STAT application restored, also have my own application. STAT app, has many aliases: English, French, German, etc, while my apps has alias English, AliasTemp1, AliasTemp2. When I go to workspace, trying to change alias from preferences menu, I notice that STAT app is on the first list. So I click on dropdown and change the app, i select my own app. But the language dropdown doesn't change, means, it still point to STAT app.
3. I want to change my consolidation method's name from dimension library. I changed it from CostConsol to CostMethod. Since my apps is a shared one, i check that in my app, the name has been changed (from view application). After validating and deploy, I open Ownership Management to check the name. The name hasn't change yet, still using the old one. How to change the consol method name ?
4. In consolidation rules file, you always has syntax call MyDataUnit.GetItem(i, strAccount, strICP, strCustom1, strCustom2, strCustom3, strCustom4, dData). I have more than 4 custom dimension (i have 6). I want to include all 6 into this syntax, but my consolidation is aborted. Does this syntax only limit to custom4 dimension ?
5. I want to retrieve POWN and Parent value by using HS.Parent.Member and HS.Node.POWN(""). According to admin guide, both syntax can be run in Calculation Subroutine(). But i tried, it doesn't work.
6. In Sub Equity Pick up, I can't execute HS.EXP command. It always generates an error.
Please help if anyone knows/aware that this is happening in HFM v11.1.2.2.300 or maybe i did something wrong with the code.

Error creating a classic HFM application in Hyperion 11.1.2.2

I am trying to create a classic hfm application in Hyperion 11.1.2.2. When i enter application name and other information and press submit it shows message 'Creating new application' but then gives an error
The following exception has occurred in .(): oracle.epm.fm.common.exception.HFMException with message: Error occurred while creating the application.
All of HFM related services are running fine. But I have stopped EPMA related services assuming they are not needed for Classic HFM application creation.
Any ideas. Thanks in advance.

Need to increase database (where HFM Schemas are created) processes and sessions. once after increase you should be able to open the application without any issues.
Looks like newly redesigned hfm v11.1.2.2 need more db sessions & processes.

HFM 11.1.2.2 in EPM 11.1.2.1 Environment

Can HFM v11.1.2.2 be installed and used in an EPM v11.1.2.1 environment?
My company recently upgraded to EPM v11.1.2.1 (Essbase) and is now looking at installing HFM. However, they prefer the features of HFM v11.1.2.2, not HFM v11.1.2.1.
Questions
1) Does the entire EPM architecture need to be uplifted to v11.1.2.2 to support newer HFM?
2) If so, is this a patching exercise? Complete reinstall? How complex?
3) Does newer HFM version work in slightly older EPM architecture? Supported by Oracle?
Any guidance or comments would be appreciated.

Yes. The entire EPM system need to be upgraded to 11.1.2.2
from 11.1.2.1 to 11.1.2.2 is a Maintenance Release. that is when you run the EPM system installer you need to select " apply maintenance release"
for information.

HFM Process Control and Process Flow History

Hi,
When I review the Process Flow History for top parent members of the consolidation, the POV shows <Scenario> <Year> <Period> <Entity> <Entity Currency>. For all other applications and entities, the <Entity Currency> member shows but I've built a new application and the <Entity Currency> shows as "EUR Total" (EUR is one of the currencies) except that EUR is not the default currency of application or the entity's value. Could anyone explain to me why it would show that way or where it could be coming from?
I'm using HFM v11.1.1.3.

EPM v11.1.2.3-suggestion needed

Our client is using older version of Hyperion Enterprise for their financial consolidation and reporting.
They are planning to implement latest version of Hyperion so we suggsted them to go for HFM v11.1.2.3 latest version.
I have few questions and need couple of suggestions from all you experts :-
1. They have source system as JD Edwards in place and they wanted to integrate data integration with HFM.Have we suggseted them correct version,to migrate from Enterprise to HFM 11.1.2.3 ?
2. What modules should we suggest them to implement in a greenfield implementation ,mostly in terms of data integration: FDM or FDMEE? What is more appropriate,on what basis should we decide that .

With regard to your queries, please find below some of the key points to be noted
1. As Hyperion Enterprise system is having limited number of dimensions and on the other hand Hyperion Financial Management system has the capability to handle unlimited number of dimensions to accomodate customer specific business requirements in the financial reporting application as much as possible. First of all we need to understand the business requirements and also client should be aware of HFM 11.1.2.3 features so that they can utilize the software features to a maximum extent. If the customer is expecting major changes in terms of metadata structure before implementing into HFM system, kindly design the application structure as per HFM product features
2. Coming to the requirement for data integration, older versions of FDM can be used as well. If we use FDMEE, then we can integrate Metadata and Data from source system like JD Edwards to Hyperion Financial Management system. Most preferable to use FDMEE as it has very good features to streamline the data and metadata integration.

Planning Adhoc works differently than HFM Adhoc ?

We have Hyperion Planning v11.1.2.2.300 and HFM v11.1.2.2.x installed.
Smartview version is v11.1.2.5.200 (Build 174).
It looks like Adhoc behaves differently depending on whether we are using HFM or Planning but we are unsure if this is intentional or a bug (I think its a bug or, God forbid, we do something wrong!).
Example for HFM:
Row: Entity
Column B1 - Version (Working)
Column B2 - Scenario (Budget)
Column B3 - Year (FY13)
Column B4 - Period (Jan)
In Column C3 we insert Year = FY14
Press refresh and column C1, C2, and C4 is filled with the contents of the equivelant B cell,
If we do the same for planning then we get an error "Member FY14 is out of place" !!???
This applies to anything we insert in cell C1 to C3.
If we insert a value in C4, ie Period = Feb, and press refresh then it works and C1 to C3 is filled with the equivalent values from B !?

It is not a bug. The different providers work differently. In Planning it get rid of the repeated members, you would select on the options->data tab suppress repeated members.

Using GetItemExtDim in HFM 11.1.2.2

Hi experts!
Has anybody used the function GetItemExtDim in rules file in HFM v11.1.2.2?
We are using a 5 Custom application and we are trying to get the values of the Custom 5 Dim. I read the HFM Admin Guide but it's been quite hard to understand.
Has anybody used and/ or could have a better explanation than the Admin Guide, and if possible, send some examples on how to use it, please?
