HFR - Search on Select Members
When our users try to run a report they often need to search for a member to select in the Prompt portion of the report creation process, but since we have so many alternate hierarchies they get back many different shared member options it is pretty confusing. Is there a way to restrict the search process to get back only the prototype member?
Hi, one way to do this - although it's a hack, would be to only give the users Meta-Read access for the main hierarchy.
So as long as they didn't need to see the other hierarchies this would work - and also if they didn't need to load to the cube as you can't have write access with Meta-Read, it MUST be read and write.

I doubt it was either. As I suggested the possiblity the two issues were related. One of a number things could have been the cause, and the solution.
It took me several minutes to finalize my post in which during that time Apple could have very easilty got things back up and running. The two issues could have been unrelated.
Chamar - tt also appears you posted a screen shot from the Mac App store. The link I provided was specifically for the online "Apple Store" - not "App" store.
And again, as it's been an issue in the past - I suggested the two issues may have been related; it usually is, because your Apple ID is tied to "everything Apple" - Mac App store, iCloud, FaceTime, iTunes, Apple Store online, and even here, including the forums... "everythig Apple."
I even tried to get onto Apple Store online through the App on my iPhone. I get the exact same screen shot I placed in my original post. At any rate... everything is back up and running. -
Cannot select members in Create Block
Hi,
our users are using the grahical interface to build their business rules and it seems that with version 11.1.1.3 we are unable to select members in the Create Block steps (there is no magnifying glass on buttons). By default, all members selections are set to <All> and can't be changed. No code is added in the "Source" tab to create blocks and no blocks are created.
The same issue seems to be there with the "destination" in calculation step, where there is no magnifying glass on buttons either. But in that case, we can work around setting the "destination" using the "formula range".
We migrated from version 9.3.1 to 11.1.1.3 and we would like to find a way to solve our problem without having to change all our rules (about 45 rules).
Anyone ever experienced this problem ?

Francois Robineauwow , our mistake, since it a sandbox we have teste lot of thing, unfortunately the connector entries and connector group was changed as per naiming convention and we have not made integrated with scenario..

Select Members in Data Forms via UDA or Substitutionvariable
Hello,
I want to select members in row or colum dimension of a Planning data form via an UDA. But it is only possible to select members via hierarchy (member, sibling, parent,...).
Is there a possibility to select members via UDA?
What I tried is:
1.) in the definition of the dimension members for the dimension "Period" in the data form I filled in: "@UDA(Period,FC01)".
I get the error "The member @UDA(Period does not exist or you do not have access to it."
2.) Instead of the UDA I tried to use a Substitutionvariable "&PER_LIST"
This works if the Substitutionvariable contains only one member. It doesn't work if it contains more than one member (comma-separated list).
I get the error: "A substitution variable required for this calculation is undefined. Variable: PER_LIST" (even though the variable exists and I selected it in the member selection dialog)
Can anyone help? I'm using Hyp. System 9.3.1.

NicoleI would love to see the ability to select EDA's from Planning Forms, it would definately make life a little easier.
As CL says, attributes are great at filtering forms and BR's, their only drawback is that you can only use them on sparse dimensional members.
To get round this problem i've relied on security to filter out the accounts i do not need to see in the forms for the specific users, and kept the form selection on @IDESCENDANTS(Account_Parent).
If you wish to filter on the Period dimension and this is a dense dimension, can you not get round the problem with rollups and, for example, @DESCENDANTS(Q1) to only return 3 months in the form, it really depends on your outline structure. -

Here is the Scenario:
I have a script called DAllocate.lgf in an app - Costing. Now I need to run that app from another app called Reporting. I know that Runlogic wont work in my case because in the Dallocate.lgf there are some Runlogic commands being used. and when Runlogic is being used to call a logic that has runlogics in it, it wont work. So what I hae done is in the SSIS package in the reporting app, I have added a logic task to an existing package and specified DAllocate.lgf with the app name costing.
Here is the issue:
When I run an SSIS package in costing app called Dallocate(which basically runs dallocate.lgf), it runs successfully. But If I run a package called PtoCA in Reporting that has Dallocate.lgf as a logic task, it gives the following error:
"user has no write access to the selected members of dimension : CATEGORY "

From your explanation it is clear that Dallocate.LGF has been run successfully in one of the logics. This means the issue is not in the Dallocate.LGF. The issue is in some other logic of the same DM package.
First, check which logic part faces this issue. Based on your explanation, definitely not in Dallocate.LGF.
Then, check how that particular Catergory dimension member which the user does not have access for, came into the logic calculation. Somewhere in the calculation, it is posting a value in the unauthorized member.

ESH_IX_PROCESS_CHANGE_POINTERS: "No search connectors selected"
HI all,
Today when I rebuilt my TREX indexes using ESH_ADM_INDEX_ALL_SC for EA-HRGXX and then ran program ESH_IX_PROCESS_CHANGE_POINTERS to schedule the automatically I got the message "No search connectors selected". My search connectors have generated and searches are possible with TREX.
The only caveat is that some of the indexes have had changes made to the search object connector templates and the extractor class is not currently compatible with the existing node. However, these indexes still work - the data is just not extracted for these additional nodes.
Any thoughts welcome.

Does EPMA Calculation Manager provide the facility of using any kind of variable which will enable to select members dynamically from row/ column in a Planning webform as we use member variable to select members from Page/ POV?

Provisioning Profiles Generation gives "Unknown Error" after Selecting Members
Well, I can no longer generate provisioning profiles because it gives an unknown error after selecting members and clicking continue. Any workarounds?
They mentioned when I called that the (-18) error is a network error because of their activation servers being down at this time. They said the activation servers are used to authenticate restores through iTunes for the iPhone. It should be back up tonight or tomorrow sometime according to support.
So if its not back up by tomorrow I will call again. Thanks for the help. -

Error while selecting members on spreadsheet
Hello All-
I have a planning application with three databases database1 , database2, database3. The application is multi curreency application.
My users when they try to get connected to any of the database in morning and try the option for member selection get following Error:
"Failed to start the extractor Thread"
I went to the logs and i was not able to find anything significant over there. There are two nightly process that are run on the application:
1. Back up of the Essbase database
2. Running Maxl against Database1 which does some dataloading and running few scripts.

So if you see the application log the user gets connected to database2 and nothing is being done on that database during nightly load.
This User dont get this error everyday but sometimes. Most of the time this error comes up in morning. This error come up while "member selection" in spreadsheet.
Can anybody give me a clue foe the possible cause of this error. The 2 jobs that i told are run everyday. There is nothing else running on server during night.
I restart the application whenever they come up with this Error

I was going through my Maxl log and saw an Error which was as follows:

So the job failed but interesting point is that the error number "1003061" is same as my user was getting while member selection on spreadsheet.
Can this be the source of error? But the only thing is that this job runs on database1 & User was tring the member selection on database2.
Moreover what is the source for this Error?
The issue if this Error dosent come everyday so if i had reduce the size of the buffer last time its hard to say it was useful or not. I guess it was not as it came up with this error again but i can always reduce it as you said there is no harm i
n doing that but the above datalaoad error is because of same issue or something different?

How to pass the default value to search help selection screen

I need to push a certain value as a default value based on a condition to the slection screen of search help in web UI.
Could you please let me know how can we do this?
When we try to open the 'F4' help in web ui then it should populate a certain value as a default value to the selection screen of this 'F4' help. We will get this default value based on condition.

Here 'ZATTR1' is my search help name in SE11 and the field which is having 'F4' help is 'ATTRIBUTE'.
Now when I press 'F4' on 'ATTRIBUTE' then it will give a popup and this popup is having 3 fields..
1.'ATTRIBUTE'
2.'SERVICE_LINE'
3.Description of 'SERVICE_LINE' and hence by pressing 'F4' i should get a value in the field 'SERVICE_LINE' based on
a condition.
However, if there is a value for ATTRIBUTE on the screen and when we press 'F4' on this then in the popup the value of
ATTRIBUTE which is there on the screen is appearing in the 'ATTRIBUTE' field and the same value is being copied to
'SERVICE_LINE' field in the popup.
Please guide me how do we populate the value to 'SERVICE_LINE' field inside the search help popup of 'ATTRIBUTE'.

Case insensitive search in select statement
Hi Experts,
I have entries in table as mixed case. For example i am searching on an attribute called description in the table. I want the serch to be case insensitive for that attribute. Because in table it is i.e. JUMBO Pack and in the search attribute it is i.e. Jumbo Pack.
I do not want to translate both to the same case and search. Is there an option?

One more alternative:
If ztext is ur original field which is saving the mixed text.
Append one extra field(ztext_upper) to the table.
Now if " Sap Sdn" is the text we are saving then
While saving the entires to the table,
1. asusual save the value(" Sap Sdn") to teh original field(ztext)
2. translate the value to upper case(SAP SDN) and save this entry to teh newly appended field(ztext_upper)
Now while doing search, translate to upper case and compare with the value in ztext_upper. If it satisfies then for display options select the original value from the field (ztext) which is corresponding to the satisfied ztext_upper field.

Search Multiple selections ONLY
Hi All,
Ok, is it me, or does the built-in search bar no longer listen to me if I tell it I only want to search the folders I have selected? All our files are on an SMB server, and I daily need to search something out that was done in a specific time frame (we catalog by month), and if I select just the months I want to search, it searches the ENTIRE server.
Is there a preference that I'm not clicking somewhere, or does this just not work this way anymore?

Organizing related files with Smart Folders
With Smart Folders, you can organize files by what they have in common, instead of by their location on your disk. Because they use Spotlight, Smart Folders can organize files by their contents, as well by attributes that describe those contents and how they were created. For example, you can create one Smart Folder with all your spreadsheets, another with the documents you modified today, and another with the presentations that mention a specific project.
Even though a file exists in only one location on your disk, it can occur in many different Smart Folders. A presentation you're working on could appear in a Smart Folder of files you modified today and another of presentations that mention a specific project.
In the Finder, choose File > New Smart Folder.
Choose your search criteria.
To search your files' names, contents, and attributes for text, type in the search field. To limit where the Smart Folder searches, click one of the listed locations, or click Others to choose another location. To search on a specific metadata attribute, use the pop-up menus.
Click Save, and choose the name and location for your Smart Folder. You can place a smart folder anywhere you can place a folder.
If you do not want your Smart Folder to be be in the sidebar, deselect Add To Sidebar.
To view the items that match your Smart Folder's criteria, click it in the sidebar or double-click it in the Finder. The folder is updated automatically as you change, add, and remove files.
To edit a Smart Folder, locate it in the Finder or in the sidebar and open it. When you are done changing the search criteria, click Save.
To change the name of a Smart Folder, Control-click it in the sidebar and choose Rename, or select the folder in the Finder and type a new name.
The fact that you are using a SMB might be part of the problem. It depends on WHERE on the server these files are located not to mention this is a file sharing server. The Mac OS search "Spotlight", here is more information: Using Spotlight to search for items
Spotlight lets you quickly search your entire computer for your documents, photos, email messages, address book contacts, iCal events, and much more. You can also use Spotlight to find applications and System Preferences panes. It's always available in the menu bar, no matter what application you are currently using. If you have a Mighty Mouse, you can assign a mouse button to open Spotlight. (Use the Mouse pane of Keyboard & Mouse preferences to configure your mouse.)
Spotlight is especially useful for finding disparate items that share a connection. For example, if you search for people's names, Spotlight can return their contact information, any documents that mention them by name, any email messages to or from them, any calendar appointments with them, and any iChat instant message transcripts you've saved that involve them.
To search for items:
Click the Spotlight icon on the right side of the menu bar.
Type what you want to search for. The Spotlight menu immediately starts to display a list of results, up to the top 20 hits.
To open any item, select it.
To view all the results, select Show All to display a Spotlight window. Use the commands in the sidebar on the right side of the window to sort and group the items.
In addition to searching on a file's name or contents, you can search on the wide variety of information stored about your files. For example, enter the name of a camera model to find all the photos on your computer that were taken by that model. Or enter the name of a musician to find all audio files by that artist. To see the specialized information stored for a type of file, select one of those files, choose File > Get Info, and look at the attributes in the More Info section
To organize your files so you can find them more easily, use the Spotlight Comments field in the Get Info dialog. For example, you could mark all the files for the same project with the project name, tag all your urgent files with the word "urgent," or enter a description that will help you find the file later.
If you want to limit your search to specific locations and attributes, open Finder and choose File > Find.

Odd Behaviour using User Variables to select members in Planning form
I have a form to enter budget adjustments and another form to review the effects of those adjustments at a parent Entity level.
For each area of the business there are obviously different adjustment and parent levels required in the form.
In summary I can drive a form from a User Variable using the functions (Children, IChildren, ILvl0Descendants, Descendants and IDescendants) but trying to use other options results in unexpected behaviour.
For example with the following structure:

For the adjustment entry form the users would want to see AdjEntityA1 and AdjEntityA2 if they are in business group A.
For the review form they would like to see Group A and its children.
I am trying to avoid writing multiple forms for each business user (largely because the number of groups can vary dramatically). I can't really use generations to drive the selections as whilst the business has effectively levelled the hierarchy business units can be working at different levels of this hierarchy.
I want to offer a couple of options to the business. One will be to define a form that pulls all of the relevant entities into the form and relies on security to restrict the values displayed to the user. The second option would be to utilise User Variables to drive selections. It is the second option I am struggling with.
If we consider a user working in Group A, I think I can see a formulaic way to select the various combinations of Entities if I set the user variable to be GroupA-Adj.
I can define a data form that sets Entity to the L0Descendants of say GroupA-Adj and this is fine.
When I try to define a review form that selects the Isiblings and Parent of GroupA-Adj I hit a problem.
It seems that Children, IChildren, ILvl0Descendants, Descendants and IDescendants works as I would expect.
Using IAncestors and IParents return just the User Variable setting (i.e. just the 'I' part, not the parents or Ancestors).
Siblings, Isiblings, Parents, Ancestors all result in an error message because not all dimensions are represented in the form.
This prevents me using a User Variable to build the review form in which I would like to display the siblings and parent of the entity GroupA-Adj.
Anyone got any ideas?I would love to see the ability to select EDA's from Planning Forms, it would definately make life a little easier.
As CL says, attributes are great at filtering forms and BR's, their only drawback is that you can only use them on sparse dimensional members.
To get round this problem i've relied on security to filter out the accounts i do not need to see in the forms for the specific users, and kept the form selection on @IDESCENDANTS(Account_Parent).
If you wish to filter on the Period dimension and this is a dense dimension, can you not get round the problem with rollups and, for example, @DESCENDANTS(Q1) to only return 3 months in the form, it really depends on your outline structure. -
Business Rules - Selecting Members
Hope somebody can help me with an issue I am facing. When I run/validate a Business Rule and when I try to select a member, I encounter the following:
Some parent level members have a lock symbol and cannot be selected
Some zero level members have a green lock symbol and cannot be selected
Other member (parent and zero level) without the lock symbol works with no issues
The members with locks beside them were created a while back and calculations in those members appear to be correct. However, why can’t I select them to run? How can I fix the issue?

The prompt is for @IDESCENDANTS( [GeoPrompt] ) so it should include everything in the GEO dimension. Additionally, I am logged on as ADMIN so I think it should not be limited by security. Also, using the same credentials, I can access all members through smartview and the webforms. Is there a standalone module in Business Rules that can be causing the issue?
