HH4A update - Home Network Devices page .....?

Looks like another HH4 update last night. (BT Home Hub 4 (Type A) | Software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.130.1.10 | Last updated 07/06/13)
I note now that on my 'Home Network Devices' page under Advanced Settings, there is a graphic of a HH3 at the top of the network tree, whereas before there was no graphic at all, it was just a list. Anyone else noticed this?
Haven't seen anything else obvious, but this is a glaring c0ck-up - surely a graphic of a HH4 would have not been impossible? Hardly critical, but wonder what else is screwed in this release?

yes i have seen it not that worried about a graphic everything else seems ok

  • Home Hub 5 "Home Network - Devices" icons

    Hi all,
I've been looking at the Home Network - Devices screen from the HH5 and wondered about the icons that it chooses. If you have a look at my network below, my SkyHD box seems to be identified as a games thingy and while my other half's iPhone 5 identifies as a smartphone, my iPhone 4S seems to identify as a tablet. I'm guessing that it doesn't make any difference at all, but I'm interested in how the HH5 is selecting the device icons.
    Cheers,
    Bill

How do you even get these icons! I'm still stuck with laptop icons. Anyone know?
Anyway, I think the way it chooses is through how it access the internet and what data it retrives. (e.g retrieving game data)
Maybe BT just keeps a database of which is which. But they may of made a mistake. Thats what I think.

  • Homehub 5 deleted device from Home Network - Devic...

Hi guys.  I'm setting up a Homehub 5 for the first time.  I have previously had a Homehub 3 and could do anything I wanted with it but I've come across an oddity.
It's a simple query, in the Home Networks - Device section, I have deleted a device from the Wired Connections.  I now want it back!  How do I get it recognised and added again?  I have tried disabling the network (wired) and enabling, restarting the device, restarting the Homehub, nothing seems to work.  Can someone please tell me what I am missing?

Ok.  Most of this issue seems to be solved by my fiddling.
A bit more playing around has given me a new view of the problem.  The device I removed was set up in it's own TCP/IP settings to request a static IP address of its own choosing.  I did this because I could not find a way to allocate a static IP address for a wired device in the Homehub.  For some reason, when I first tried it, it would not allow me to edit the IP address for the chosen device.  I think this may be because the address had been set locally on the PC.  When I returned the PC to DHCP allocation it reappears in the Devices display and I am setting a static address from there.  I also have a NAS drive which is set to request its own static IP address and this also does not show up in the display.  I have changed the NAS drive in its own local settings to allow DHCP and it now also shows up in the router's Device plan.  So...
Am I right in assuming that the BT Home Hub 5 only displays those devices it controls under DHCP and will not display others which have requested their own fixed address?
If so, is there anywhere that devices which request their own static addresses can be viewed in the Home Hub settings or are they simply non-existent as far as administration is concerned?
I would find this last point strange as they are still connected to the network and as such need to be managable.  It would almost seem that you are forced to use DHCP via the Home Hub if you want to set up anything to do with any device.

  • Home Network Web Pages and my IPOD

My router recently died. Verizon installed a new router. I use a server with apache web server to access a custom web page that is connected to my X10 lighting. The web page will load and works properly from any laptop connected to the home network by Ethernet or WIFI. BUT!!!!! Now (it work fine before the new router was installed) my ipod cannot load any of the apache web pages I build. Can someone tell me what setting on the router is blocking these pages to my ipod????? I use my ipod to control my lights, my pool and pond pumps. I am really getting tired of trouble shouting this. It does not make sense that it works fine on my laptop but not on my ipod.

Are you sure that the iPad is connected by wireless to your router and is not connected to someone's LAN OR is not connected to cell phone Internet service (3G, 4G/LTE) ?

  • Assistance with Wireless Home Networking

    Hello-
I am struggling to get my house set-up properly for a strong wireless signal strength. I could use some advice.
    My current set-up includes:
    1) A 2Wire gateway broadcasting wirelessly at 2.4GHz (b/g)
    2) A Time Capsule connected to the gateway via Ethernet and broadcasting wirelessly at 5GHz (n).
My signal strength is very poor in some portions of the house. Most noticeably where I need it the most... My media room (which has the Apple TV, PS3, etc.). Oddly, my Time Capsule has 30% less strength than the 2Wire.
From reading posts here, it appears I have the following options:
    a) Get an airport express and use it as a range extender.
    b) Get a power line home networking device and hook-up my devices via Ethernet.
I would appreciate any suggestions on the proper way to go, and, if there are any other things I should try besides what I listed above.
To help, I have linked to 2 images: The first is the layout of my house and the second is my signal strength:
    http://www.malphurs.com/shared/LayOut.jpg
    http://www.malphurs.com/shared/Strength.jpg
    Thanks again!

Sorry to be vague... The Time Capsule is only for the back-up of my laptop.
What I am attempting to do is expand my wireless network through out my house. It has not been doing so up to this point. I have a newborn on the way quite soon and had to turn my home office into a nursery. In doing so, I lost my second TV that I had my Apple TV, Playstation 3, and X-Box connected to.
When I moved all these devices to the media room, the wireless was not strong enough for them to function. So, what I have done is:
    1) kept my 2Wire gateway broadcasting wirelessly as before
    2) set the Time Capsule up to "join a network" as opposed to "create a new network" and connected it to the gateway via ethernet
    3) connected a WD LiveWire ethernet adaptor directly into the gateway via ethernet
    4) put the second WD adaptor in my media room and connected all my devices to this via ethernet
All seems fine, but I am not sure this is the "optimum" set-up. I also don't know if I should add an extra router in the media room to broadcast a stronger wireless signal. This router would - of course - be connected to the WD LiveWire via ethernet, as are the rest of my devices in the media room.
Hopefully that is a tad more clear... Thanks again!

  • Devices not showing up on home network

I have a home network that includes a Mac Mini hooked up to our TV, MPB, MB, iPhone, and iPod Touch.  The Mac Mini is my media hub.  I have home sharing turned on, so that in a perfect world, I could watch my iTunes library on my phone, etc.  Additionally, I often use the "Remote" app on my phone to control iTunes on the big screen.
The problem is that sometimes my phone can connect to the mini, sometimes it can't.  Sometimes the MPB sees the MB, or the Mini, sometimes it doesn't.  Sometimes restarting the router solves the problem, sometimes it doesn't.  Basically, sometimes any or all of the devices can see each other, and sometimes they can't.  Durring all of this, connection to the internet is always working.
    Any advice would really help.

I am pleased it is sorted

  • Foscam not in BT HH3 device list on 'home network'

I have brought a Foscam Wireless Cam and it is working fine wirelessly over the BT HH3 home network.
However, the device is not shown in hub manager in 'home network'.  I am trying to Port Forward so I can access it when out and about.  I have allocated it to port 8091 but I cannot see the device in 'home network' to click on it and ad port forwarding.
Please help before I throw it out of the window

You need to assign it a static IP address using the camera interface, then port forward to that static IP address. You need to assign an IP address outside of the DHCP range of the home hub.
There is a worked example on the bottom of this page Port forwarding problems

Be sure you're in range of your Wi-Fi router (access point).
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and on. If your Wi-Fi setting is dimmed, follow these steps.
    Restart your iOS device.
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you're connected.
    Tap and Forget this Network.
Try to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
Note: You may need to enter your Wi-Fi password again if your network requires one.
Update your device to the latest version of software.

  • Our home network has multiple devices connected by iCloud. Having problem with Calendar. On one iMac, all the events are duplicated. How can I correct that problem? Under the Calendar accounts, I had my Apple id listed and also just iCloud.

Our home network has multiple devices connected by iCloud: 2 iMacs, 2 iPhone 4s, 1 MacPro Laptop, and 1 iPad 2.  When using Calendar, all the events were
duplicated on my husbands iMac.  On his computer, under Calendar accounts, I had included iCloud and also my iCloud ID.  I thought that because I had two accounts listed that were connected to iCloud, that might be the cause of the duplication.  When I deleted ithe calendars from one of the accounts, it resulted
in deleting all of the events on all of our network devices!
I have since entered some new events into Calendar from my iMac and from my iPhone.  These appear correctly on all devices except my husband's iMac where they are again all duplicated.
I have two questions: 1)  How can I eliminate the duplicated events on my husband's computer and 2) How do I retrieve the old wiped out Calendar events from
Time Capsule.  I don't know how to find Calendar in the Time Capsule.  If I find the Calendar information in Time Capsule, how do I transfer it to my current Calendars?
I was obtaining phone help from one of the Apple techs at Apple Support, but our call was disconnected part way through.  Didn't know how to reconnect with the tech.
    Thanks for any help.

It's important that you have a steady WiFi connection, ZealousEdge. What phone do you have? Is your phone unable to connect to any WiFi network? If you can, please try deleting the saved WiFi network and re-adding it.

  • TS2972 enable my tv entertainment provider on my home network - then updated "a newer" modem and now home sharing just stopped home sharing

Only 2 changes to my home network set up: #1 - I installed a "new model modem" recommended by my ISP provided, and #2 I had my tv entertainment provider install their modem to the TV receiver box for accessing my home network and now home sharing will not home share.
I original had enabled, and all devices are still set up for home share - that's laptops, iphones, ipods, and ipads.
Any suggestions?  I understand these modem most have ports 123, 3689, and 5353 opened for itunes and the home sharing.
Now I am stumped on how to verify these settings.
Is it possible for me to verify these ports on these modems; how?  Or is it just wiser to contact these providers and have their technicans investigate this issue?  OR is it possible I am missing an even easier route to cure this ailment I have created unintentionally in my quest for connectivity between all things electronically capable and on the same secure network?
Oh, using PC w/WDW7 if this helps, and one other annoying detail, which confuses this entire issue of mine, the Home Share, pops on for a few minutes, and then disappears.  So yes, I am confused, it is there, and then it is not!.

Scan the Support Community sites. Apple TV losing connection is prevalent. The many postings point out the problem occurs with Apple TV1,2and 3; with different brands of router including Airport Extreme; from current and past versions of iTunes; after varying periods of working well.....minutes, hours, days; losing connection with Home Sharing and loosing Airplay; whether the router and Apple TV are in same room or separated by distance; after trying innumerable posted 'fixes'; after exchanging for a new Apple TV.
Readers, please don't post a fix until you check it works for atleast a week.

  • Hp Officejet Pro 8600 Premium - wireless home network printing from multiple devices

We have a wireless home network with several desk tops, lap tops and tablets using the network for internet access. There is only one printer in the home, our hp Officejet pro 8600 Premium. Right now everyone who has access to the network can print. We want to prevent printing from specific devices while allowing printing from others. How do I password protect the printer so that only certain devices may print? Or alternatively, remotely prevent devices from printing?

Well this is a little tricky.   You have a 'home' network so we assume you want everyone to print went they want.  If you are talking about 'guest' that come over and use the printer, the best thing is to get a router with a Guest Network which isolates your home network.
That being said there is no 'password' you can put on the printer , however you can add security.
Start/Devices and Printers/ Right click on your printer and select Printer Properties , select the Security Tab.  Now you can set security.

  • How do I send email and web pages to a shared printer on home network. I verified that I can send documents to the shared printer.

My home network (one wireless computer using Windows 7--the other using Windows XP) share a printer, but I can't send web pages or email to the shared printer. I can send documents to the printer, so I know that connection is set up properly. Could Firefox be blocking this function? If so, how do I configure it. Both computers use Firefox exclusively.
