Hh5 5ghz signal stopped working
Just noticed that the 5 gHz signal on my HH5 has stopped working (inSSIDer and Stumbler can't see it and the SSID allotted to the 5 gHz wireless has disappeared from Networks in Win 8.1). I have tried stopping and starting the 5 gHz wireless on the hub and changing the channel but all to no avail! Any one have any other ideas? I presume I can get a replacement free as I've had it less than 1 year?

Thanks for that idea but I'm afraid it just doesn't bring the 5gHz wireless back to life. Guess it will have to be a call to India tomorrow and go throught the interminable checking that I've already done - c'est la vie!

Alloysoft's Signal stopped working
I have been using Alloysoft's Signal for a week. Great product. But all of a sudden it stopped working. No idea why. I have rebootted, reinstalled, etc and no luck. Is there anyone using Alloysoft's Signal that has had this problem and fixed it?
I have my answer. My problem was a software firewall that had asked me whether to allow access or not and I had not said yes yet. But there is something else that is a bit of an issue. Signal uses the IP address of the PC as the URL. If the router ever gives a different IP address to the PC you will need to check what it is and use that in the URL. However, Signal needs to update that IP address in its registry but only does this at boot time so if the PC received the IP without rebooting then you will need to reboot so that Signal updates it. For some reason my PC loses access to my network from time to time and each time my router gives it a new IP address. So this is causing a problem too. The folks at Alloysoft sent me the beta of their next version which allows Signal to check periodically without needing to reboot. This is helpful.
The support people at Signal have been fantastic. I was in contact with them at all times. The easiest solution for me is to make my IP address static so that Signal is always up to date. Also, they plan on a version soon that will contain a mini web server which will allow users to use a domain name instead of the IP address to access the application. That would solve everything -
5Ghz WiFi on E2500 stopped working
I had my E2500 with 2.4 and 5Ghz WiFis with different names working fine for months until yesterday when 5Ghz WiFi stopped working and I had to switch my PC back to 2.4ghz. When I go to the router page -> Status -> Wireless Networks the 5Ghz network shows an empty MAC address, Channel as N/A and Channel Width as N/A, while 2.4 has them properly filled. I've tried using different settings for the WiFi, but nothing worked. I also tried resetting the device and updating the firmware. How do I know that the 5Ghz interface is not defective and figure out the cause of the problem?
Solved!
Go to Solution.Ensure the FW was updated correctly:
To safely update FW, I recommend doing the following: Download the FW file from the support site first.
1. Save router config to file first using IE or FF with all security add-ons disabled.
2. Factory reset the router with all other devices disconnected or turned OFF accept for 1 wired PC.
3. Reload or Update the FW using IE or FF. Just download the FW file to your local wired LAN PC.
4. Factory reset the router and then set up from scratch first and test with out loading the saved config from file. Check to see if any problems are fixed before loading the saved config from file. Sometimes you need to set up from scratch with out loading the saved config file. Just safer that way. -
HT1218 2.4 GHz wireless signal not working has disappeared
I have a Time Capsule running the firmware version 7.6.1 (the latest) and today for some reason the 2.4 GHz wireless signal stops works and disappears (the signal no longer appears in the list of available netowrks on my iMac or iOS devices). The 5GHz signal remains and does just fine. When I cycle the power on the TC with about 30 sec downtime before powering back on the 2.4 GHz signal comes up just fine; however, after about a half hour to an hour the wireless signal disappears again . I have seen posts on the net that suggest renaming the wireless channels and changing the channel. Will try these but this seems to me to be a bit of a bandaid - while this may help I'd like to know why this is happening so I can perhaps take other actions to prevent it in the future.

Concerning: VGA monitors using an Aluminum Powerbook G4 PowerPC 2004 15"-screen 1.5Ghz
The DVI (converted to VGA) video output stopped working on this computer after 9 years of service. This raises question 1:
Is there any way of fixing this? I've tried the usual: triple checked all vga cables & devices through trial & error. Bought a new DVI-VGA adapter. Reset PRAM, PMU, etc. Nothing works. Something is probably damaged, because my KVM switch was not working unless I hot-reseated the vga cable into it, leading to this DVI port, and that is pretty rough stuff.
Question 2 (related):
This dovetails into this: Can I drive a VGA monitor with the s-video output port on this computer. It would take an s-video (male)-to-15-pin-VGA adapter. Has anyone does this? So far, I haven't even found the adapter mentioned anywhere.
Thanks for reading this.
el7Thanks for the useful feedback, Knucklesmac. I agree. I must have blown something on the logic board -- because I had a faulty old KVM switch that would not switch between computers without some nasty hot-plugging/unplugging the VGA video cables. (wince!). It's like when Dizzy Dean ruined his arm because a line drive hit him in the foot and he readjusted his mechanics around the injury. I take the blame because this has been a great computer, and does not deserve any blame.
If it will help anyone else reading this thread, C2G (née Cables to Go) has some interesting ideas for still getting external video out of this computer:
-USB-to-VGA
http://www.cablestogo.com/product/30545
-Convert s-video or composite video signals to high resolution VGA
http://www.cablestogo.com/product/40971
The price range is $75-$85, which doesn't make horse sense to me for such an old computer -- which has a lot of life in it anyway, because its own 15" monitor is not chopped liver.

My MBA 13" Late 2010 displayport to TV has stopped working, is there a way to troubleshoot the port? Have tried several different ways of trying, but TV still reads "No Signal" while the TV changes resolution as if it were sharing it's screen?
Hi garyducati,
If you are having issues with the video out on your MacBook Air, you may find the following article helpful:

RTMPT stops working every once in a few days. Restarting FMS fixes the issue. When the problem occurs both RTMP and RTMPT connections generate the following error in master.00.log:
Failed to signal process condition: errno(43)
Despite the error RTMP works but RTMPT does not. There seems to be quite a bit of memory released after restarting FMS:
Before restart:

Swap: 10217332 0 10217332
What does this error mean? Is FMS running out of memory? The server has 16 GB of RAM. There are about 270 vhosts it loads but on average only about 60-100 connections at any time.Try downloading and installing the updates to Acrobat, fixing permissions and then running the program.

I've got an apple 3TB time capsule. It was working fine until we moved to a new house. The day the ISP showed up to upgrade my speed it stopped working. Now will not pick up signal. What happened what do I do?
What signal is it picking up? Are you joining wireless network? If so don't.. it is really poor way to run things.
Is it connected to a cable modem? Full router or just a modem type?
Try a reset?
Plug in via ethernet.. turn off everything.. wait 5min then restart cable modem.. if that doesn't work, give it a longer off cycle.. 15min or overnight.

My ipod touch 5th generation keeps wifi signal for 10-30 minutes and then just stops working.
I've had my ipod for about a month now and it worked fine up until this week.
This week I noticed probelms with the wifi. I would be just on facebook or browsing the web and the wifi would just stop working. Every time I turned wifi off and the on again it would give me about 5-10 more minutes of wifi before I had to do it again. I've never expeiranced this with my other 4th generation or 3rd generation ipod touches. The wifi itself is not the probelm because it works just fine on my laptop. Today I updated my software and the probelm was not resolved.
I need help sould I got to the Apple store and have them check it out?Does the iPod have the problem with other networks?
Do other devices work OK?
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- DOes the router have the latest firmware?
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

My Apple TV suddenly stopped working. When I hit a button on the remote the light on the apple tv flickers but nothing else happens. Anyone know how I can fix this?
I had the same problem; Apple TV was working proper then for no reason I got the continuous blinking front LED. The Apple TV has no sound or video output at all. I tried reseting the Apple TV via my Apple remote controller but that didn't do anything for me. I finally called Apple and they told me that the way to fix my box is to reset the Apple TV to factory default. So I had to attach the Apple TV to one of my Apple computers and launch iTunes. Once iTunes was running it recognized my Apple TV and I clicked on the option to restore to factory default. After the restore my Apple TV now works properly. My final action on the Apple TV was to sign into my account and enter my password.

Why does my airport express 2.4 stop working
I have my network wireless using the Airport Extreme Base station and extended by an Airport Express.
The 5Ghz band tends to work fine, but not all my devices support it so I rely heavily on the 2.4ghz radio.
that radio tends to fail about every other day. It just stops working.
The airport express light stays green, but has zero throughput.
The 2.4 from the Airport Base station fails too.
The only way I can get it working again is to reset the base station. Even then, it only works for a short period of time.
I checked to be sure nothing else was on the same frequency and have tried different frequencies/channels. No luck.
Please help?I agree with John, this sounds like very classic interference.
Luckily, there are things that can be done to get around it. For instance, keeping your Airport away from other sources of interference: cordless phone cradles are the really nefarious ones, but satellite receivers tend to cause really unfortunate issues in the 2.4GHz range as well. If you have either of those nearby, try to get the Airport and these devices as far away from each other as possible.
Also, if you have 5+ other wifi networks in your area, these can also be scrambling your 2.4 signal. Try using Airport Utility to change your radio channel:
Version 5.5.3: Applications> Utilities> Airport Utility> Click on Airport device > Manual Setup> Wireless. Where it says Radio Channel, experiment with channels 3 and 9. Click 'update' after changing the channel.
Version 6: Same channels, but path is Applications> Utilities> Airport Utility> Click on Airport device > Edit> Wireless> Wireless Options -
I thought it would be nice to see Skype contacts on the large screen and realised this should be possible using my Apple TV, but AirPlay (in mirror mode) on Apple TV stops working when a Skype or Google + conversation is started after showing all right on the TV till that point. I'm using iOS 7 and the problem occurs on my iPad 2 and iPhone 5. Facetime seems to be OK, and Skype works over Apple TV when using my daughter's MacBook Pro (though I haven't tried Google + on it), so I deduce that the issue is with iOS 7. I have had success one or twice with using Skype in this manner on my iPhone so it is not consistant, but this is rare and hasn't happened in my latest attempts. Unfortunately some of my Skype contacts don't have an Apple device so I often can't use Facetime.
Is there a work around, or has Apple acknowledged this issue and said there will be a fix?Same problem here.
iPhone 5s + apple TV + Skype all are up to date. Mirroring is working until the video signal starts, after that the Apple TV goes back to the Apple TV starting screen. -
Satellite L770 - ethernet adapter has stopped working
HI
I have three laptops all connectable to my home hub, but I seem to be having serious problems with the latest model, the L770-13D. The signal strength has never been as good as the older models and just recently the Ethernet adapter has stopped working. I've updated drivers on both adapters but it hasn't made any difference. I've just recently upgraded my connection and I'm wondering whether the Ethernet adapter is not correctly configured since it was working alright prior to the upgrade.
I've also tried just about every test that I can do - The Toshiba config doctor returned a FAIL on the hardware check I did, but the device manager reports that both network adapters are working OK. Also, the troubleshooting of the wireless adapter reports that there 'may be a problem' The evidence seems to be pointing towards a hardware problem with this laptop.
Any thoughts?HI Dr Lamp,
No I haven't tried that probably because I wouldn't know how to do it. I have a full recovery image on the data drive but I'm not comfortable with making any changes to the OS in case I mess things up. I've also got a recovery flash drive. Really, I'm out of my depth when it comes to making these sort of changes - I just thought that there may be something very simple that I'd overlooked. The machine is still under warranty, so I'll probably take it to a local computer specialist for diagnosis before involving Toshiba. If it's more than a software problem, they should earn their fees by repairing it. If you involve them and it isn't a hardware problem, they will bill you for about 80 plus carriage, so I'm naturally reluctant to do that. Also, you have to hang about waiting for delivery and collection. It may better to buy a USB/LAN adapter for about 20. Thanks for reply, anyhow. -
Right USB Port stops working after disconnecting device since 10.9.2
Hi,
Since updating to 10.9.2 the right USB port on my MBA stops working after diconnecting a device (tested: external hard drive, USB flash drive, USB HSPA Modem). The only way to get the port recognizing the device on that port is to do a restart. If the device is connected from starting the MBA it works fine, if I then eject the drive and reinsert it or a different USB device the device doesn't get recognized. The devices do get power, my WD passport ultra spins up just fine, the USB HSPA modem also indicates it's working (with signal) but nothing shows up in finder or diskutility. If the modem is connected from start (and thus working) and then disconnect from the internet but not remove the drive I can reconnect to the internet. The problem only occurs after disconnecting the device. The port becomes inactive. The left USB port works as expected.
Steps I've taken:

Nothing out of the ordinairy. Thanks for any helpIt's an Apple Pro keyboard and mouse, the dongle is
plugged into the Mac and not the keyboard. The same
set-up is, and has been working on all our other
Macs.
The sleep issue sounds interesting- hum, maybe...
Is your keyboard plugged into one of the USB connections on an Apple monitor? If so, you may want to change that connection to one that is on the G5 itself. My monitor came with a warning note indicating that problems will likely occur if the keyboard is connected to the monitor.
I also had a problem with the automatic sleep function. After much trouble-shooting and a logic board replacement, it was concluded that coming out of the automatic sleep function with any USB device active would freeze the entire USB bus. After disabling automatic sleep in system preferences, I've had no freezing problems. My machine works fine with the manual sleep function in the Apple Menu.

HP Pavilion external monitor has stopped working with my Macbook Pro (Mid 2012) with OSX 10.8.3. When I purchased the monitor a few weeks ago it worked perfectly when computer was in clamshell mode or with lid open. Now external display has stopped working. When I turn on display it scans for signal but does not find it and then immediately goes into sleep mode. I am using a DVI connection with the adapter for the mini display plug. REALLY FRUSTRATING. Any help would be extremely appreciated.
Hi lancekatigbak,
If you're having issues with the display out on your MacBook Pro, you may want to take a look at the troubleshooting steps in the following article:
