HH5 has gone faulty, trying to use another router ...

so the worst has happened, and our Home Hub 5 has died. After speaking with BT Support, we've been told that it'll be 2-3 working days till we get a replacement -CRISIS! It's Friday and we have family coming this weekend, and I have a big much of work to do...
However I have a brand new router provided by my former workplace which I'm attempting to use. It's a Plusnet TG582n. Seems to have switched on and we now have wifi, but it isn't connecting to the internet. In the Connection Info menu in the hub management pages, it was set up to use the 'plusdsl.net' domain, so what settings should I use instead?
Any help at all gratefully received -thanks!

There's a setup wizard which I've tried, using [email protected] and 'password', but I notice it autocompletes the provider as Plusnet FTTC - can't seem to find a way to get at this setting.

Are you sure port 4 can be configured as a WAN port, I've just had a look through the Technicolor manual online and there is no mention of WAN ports.

    I have a late 2008 15" MBP, running Snow Leopard, who's screen assembly has gone faulty and is prohibitively expensive to replace. although I did back it up, I would like to use my other MBP (2010, 12", running OS 10.9.5) as a monitor to view it's contents. Is this possible? I also have an OLD late '90's monitor (Studio Display 21 CRT) attached to another OLD 450MHZ PPC running 10.4. Is it possible to use this monitor?

    Thanks. Viewing on the CRT display as we speak. Now, I just have to find the right screen assembly part online. Apparently, there are two for this model and is was hard for the repair shop to tell...until he got in a screen (at $475) that was not compatible. Turns out the "right" screen assembly goes for $975 refurbished (plus labor). May be cheaper to either wait to find it myself or buy a used 15" MBP and swap the hard drives.

How do I fix this terrible problem?
    If it requires a Photoshop CS5 re-install, (I belief that it may fix the problem) and re-install the two third party plugins (NIK Viveza) and (Onone Perfect Resize) how and where do I get to the proper Adobe upload page to do that.
    I have tried to fix this problem by changing the memory allocations, I have spend many hours on it and are very disgusted with it but it needs to be fixed. The current memory settings are;
    Ram available = 1588 MB
    Range = 873 -1143 MB
    Recommended Photoshop usage range =  857  however I have tried every setting to max and in between. Nothing works. Current setting = 1588 (max)
    The Photoshop I use is registered, I have product # and order # .

    Contact NIK for updated/upgraded versions of their plug-ins.  They have been having a lot of issues with their plug-ins.

  • Trying to use E1200 Router as AP

    OK, got a big house.  Bought a new Linksys WRT router which covers most of the house.  My office has a CAT5 cable from the main router, which I had an older Router that I used as an access point,  but I was only getting 12 MB or so downloads but I can get 100MB hardwired and 60 MB from my new router. 
    The basic problem is that I wanted to set up a new AP, but I decided I would buy a E1200/N300 router,  because I want high speed wifi as well as 4 hard wired cables.  Could not find a AP like that. 
    I configured the main router for DHCP  to give up to 192.168.1.100 and assigned the new AP to 101.  I turned off DHCP on the AP, thinking that DHCP would pass through (like my old router/access point) the DHCP request and pass the new IP. 
    Thing is,  no luck. 
    So did I buy someting that won't work  ?  Am I missing something ?

    Hi Aknipp. Getting an E1200 and configuring it as an access point by cascading it to the main router via LAN to LAN is a good move, but if you want to extend your existing network while at the same time having more LAN ports for more hard wired devices, check out the new RE6500 wireless extender. It is a wireless extender with four gigabit Ethernet ports. This could be the device you're looking for.

  • HT201263 My 3GS has gone faulty. It won't power up and with a wall charger connected, only gets as far as the apple logo. It then makes a vibration noise and shuts down again

    Hi guys, looking for some assistance with my 3GS. A few weeks back it started playing up. Shutting down suddenly and the like. Now, it's failing to start up. When I connect it to a wall charger, the apple logo comes on and after a short while it vibrates and then gives the 'connect to iTunes' message. The minute I disconnect from the wall, it just shuts down. If I keep it connected at the wall it goes through the above sequence before shutting down and repeats the cycle again and again.
    I've tried all the 'recovery' methods without any success. The device is not recognised by iTunes. I've taken it to small independent repair outlets who say they can't repair it. Is there anything I can do or is it totally gone for good?

    It MAY have a bad battery, and that may be all it needs. But you can't find out until you replace the battery, and then you might find out it's something different. It's a 4 year old phone; consider getting a newer model. If you take it to an Apple store they should be able to diagnose it. Make a Genius Bar appointment before going to avoid a long wait.

  • Everything has gone wrong since started using BBM -box re certificates keeps appearing.

    Recently I started using BBM then everything went wrong!! I kept getting messages about trust certifcates and eventuall key stores. Explored online help tried lots of things. Ended up completely wiping everything.
    Now have re-syncronised organiser with my outlook but from contacts only phone numbers transferred!!  Calendar only partially transferred. Still box keeps popping up about certifcates . How can I phone for advice!!

    For technical assistance, you would call Virgin and have the issue escalated up to the BlackBerry technical support.
    I would advise that you wipe the device again and restore your backup, using the BlackBerry Desktop Software, to regain your contacts and calendar. Did you make a backup of the device before your initial wipe?

  • Firefox does not save my downloads to my specified folder. It tries to use another folder. How do I correcct this problem?

    When I try to save a download to my specified directory (C:\Downloads) it tells me that (C:\documents and settings\local\temp) can not be changed and for me to change the properties of that folder. I made no changes to any folder regarding downloads. What can I do to fix this problem?

    Thanks for your input. I haven't changed anything in my virus protection to make this happen. It has been saving my downloads now for a couple years without any problems.
    I am really confused as to how this started. If you have any further input, I would appreciate hearing from you.

  • Ipod touch's headphone jack has gone faulty

    this is the second time this has happened and the second ipod its happened too, this happened last time and they replaced it but this time my warranty is no longer in date so i havent got a clue what to do, does this mean i will have to pay or will me out of date warranty cover it as its a hardware fault not a user fault.

    Try inserting and removing the headphone plug at a dozen or so times.
    Try the standard fixes to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset. Nothing is lost
    Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod
    Last, make an appointment at the Genius Br oif an Apple store. It appears that the headphone jack is bad.

    Ive had my ipod nano since August 07 and have not had any problems with it. However, since i arrived in New Zealand in March 08, the touchpad seems to work only when it wants to. In other words, i can maybe switch it on occasionally, but it will freeze within 2-3 minutes. It occurs when the battery is both low and high. I had been travelling in Australia for a month beforehand yet it encountered no problems. I have reset it numerous times, and it sometimes works, but only for a brief period. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thank you

    i have heard a few people talking about a hard reboot, which you need the power botton and home botton for but i broke my power botton awhile ago.
