Hi ,about port?

what difference and same point between idx1 and we21.
thanks a lot!

Hi Joy,
Difference:
IDX1 is used to create the port in XI system.
WE21 is used to create the port in R/3 sysgtem.
Same Point:
Both are used to send or receive the IDOC message.

  • QUICK QUESTION ABOUT PORTS

Hi, I have a quick question about port forwarding/mapping. My question, lets say I am running MSN messenger, who's ports are 6880-6900. But lets say I am running a torrent application or something else that requires those ports. If both applications were running at the same time, would this cause interference with them on the same ports or now. Thanks
    Nathan

Normally, only one application can listen to a specific port number at a time. If MSN is grabbing those 21 ports then your torrent app won't be able to run.
However, most apps don't work that way - even if they use multiple ports, they don't use them all at the same time, so MSN might use 6880 when it starts up, leaving the others open for other applications to use if needed.
Only experimentation will answer that one.

  • Question about ports

    Hi,
I have a clarification question about ports and Java. Assuming all firewalls are disabled on a PC, a Java application can connect to any port via a socket to communicate with other PCs, as long as this port is not used by another application.
    Is the following correct:
    a) Two applications (Java or no) cannot connect to the same port together, ever.
    b) Two Java applications sending and receiving datagram over a given multicast address using the same port can never communicate with each other when ran on the same PC because of a).
    Thanks,
    J.

Yes. As long as that port is not already bound for listening.
If you mean a client application can connect to any port where a server is listening, then it doesn't matter if another client is talking to the server on that port, as long as the server is written to handle concurrent connections.

    a) Two applications (Java or no) cannot connect to the same port together, ever. No, see above. Unless by "connect" you mean "bind". (Even that may be incorrect terminology.)
    b) Two Java applications sending and receiving datagram over a given multicast address using the same port can never communicate with each other when ran on the same PC because of a).Not sure exactly what you're saying here.
Really, though, why not just write some code and try it?

  • About port 4567

Firstly, I know there have been many other posts concerning port 4567 on the BT Home Hub; I know many other people are concerned, as I am, about what appears to be a glaring hole in the Hub's security. However, I think people need to remember that BT's hub isn't the only one to have this issue; a quick search on Google will show quite a few other branded routers have the same 'hole' in their security. And they often cite the same 'excuses' for why it is there: firmware updates, and general network monitoring. So maybe we should stop giving BT the boot about this?
I used to be really concerned about port 4567, after both grc.com and t1shopper.com both kept showing it was "open" while virtually every other port was "stealthed". But today I ran a simple, free program called TCPView. It shows you, in real-time, the state of TCP/UDP ports on your computer; the processes using them; the connection state, and so on. When I ran it for the first time, it only showed 4 ports with "established" connection. And all those I was familiar with. I looked down the list and not once did I see "port 4567" "established", or "listening", or "time_wait". There was no evidence it was being used by anything; it wasn't listed at all, even though grc.com  - at the same time - still showed the port was "open". So this got me thinking: could these be false positives? Is it possible we're making something out of nothing? Is it really a security risk? Would BT really jeopardise their customers' security like this? I highly doubt it.
BTW: I used to be able to use port forwarding on my Hub to stealth port 4567. But now port forwarding no longer seems to work. Either I am doing it wrong, or somehow a firmware update has rendered it useless. Also, don't bother telling me to use a software firewall; I have tried practically all of them and not one of them stealthed port 4567. In my experience the router renders software firewalls virtually redundant. Either that, or I'm configuring them wrong.

'open' just means that someone trying to connect from the outside can see it.  If there is a service to process it (with appropriate port forwarding if on a device other than the router itself) it may connect; but in the more likely event there isn't such a service they will get some kind of 'not connected' message.  That is different from 'stealth' where they just don't see any response at all.   The response from the open port shown that there is something at the ip address, and that it might therefore be worth trying to attack.
TCPView tells you what is actually connected at the moment.  You are pretty unlikely to see anyone who did attack unless you happened to look exactly as the attack was happening.  Also, TCPView is looking from the computer at connections to the computer, not at the router.  You wouldn't see anything connected to the router, or to any other device on your network, only to things connected (via the router) to the computer.

  • Problem about port on RAC

RAC on windows server 2003 and oracle version 10.2.0.1 no patch.
My problem is RAC that have 2 nodes and when client connect to database with tnsnames.ora via Virtual IP on port 1526 but cannot until the network team use sniffer for capture event and found client connect to database with VIP and port 1526 and database response to client with public IP and port 1521.
The capture log found port 1526 that just use when client connect to database at first time and second time to all session life that connect with port 1521 and public IP alway.
The service on windows appear 2 service about listener there are listener port 1521 that is default listener and listener_<NODENAME> port 1526 if I stop default listener that clients and db server cannot conect to database.
Have any files configure about connection exclude listener.ora and tnsnames.ora?
And last question if I use USE_SHARED_SOCKETthat can fix the problem?
Edited by: taohiko on Oct 6, 2008 4:41 AM

Why did you configure 2 listeners? I guess (because no details about your net configuration files are known), second listener does not serve any instances, because its listener.ora has no static entries and does not register dynamically because of its non-default port. See the installation guide for a working network configuration:

  • LMS 4.0.1 - inventory does not provide details about ports on T1/E1 HWIC

    Hi,
I'm running LMS 4.0.1 on Windows Server 2008 Standard SP2
In the management system I have Cisco ISR 2921 and Cisco ISR 3945 devices with Cisco 4-Port Clear Channel T1/E1 High-Speed WAN Interface Card.
The issue is that for some of those devices, the inventory does not discover the ports on the T1/E1 HWIC card
When i run a Detailed Inventory report (attached is a screenshot) it shows that there is T1/E1 HWIC in the device, but it states the it has 0 ports. In the same time these ports are operational and are managed by the Fault Monitor application.
Another thing is, when i use CiscoView to monitor/config the device, it does not show color information about these T1/E1 ports (screenshot attached).
    The SNMP settings are verified.
Any idea would could be the problem?

    Hello Colin,
    Thank you for your help.
I have copy the "List Access Servers" in below:
    Name Hostname Port
    acs001 scvs032.test.com 6021
    acs002 scvs033.test.com 6021
    acs003 scvs031.test.com 6021
    acs004 scvs030.test.com 6021
But, I don't know how to check whether AccessGate is connected to Access Server surely. Because I have Add a New Access Gate following the Oracle Access Manager Access Administration Guide. but it still connect AccessGate unsuccessfully.

  • How do I go about porting number from Virgin Media...

    Hello,
Have placed an order with BT for Broadband and Calls and was allocated a new telephone number. I would now however like to port my telephone number over from Virgin Media to BT to save fiddling about giving everyone a new number for the second time in the space of 6 months.
So how do I port my number from VM to BT and how long does it take?
    Thanks

Still have the vm phone account...
What a mess bt have made though, title is wrong, name spelt wrong, orders duplicated and some cancelled and to be honest I dont hold many hopes about my phone service been active tommorow.
I think it may be best to cancel all orders that BT have listed and start again, we've had this problem before- when BT edit orders and they fail on the day of activation as someone made a **bleep** up.
I'll phone up and sort it all out now...

  • Apple Mail not sending email something about port 25

I am a brand new iMac user. I am unable to use the native iMac mail. When I try to send a message it says something about not being able to send mail...port 25. Any ideas. Is there some kind of set up I need to do? I have a high speed Internet connection and it is working just fine.
    Please help.
    -Brett

This is a common issue between your mail provider and your internet provider. It sounds like your ISP isn't letting you use port 25 to send outgoing mail, which is quite common now, since some internet worms use that port.
Check with your mail provider to see if you can use an alternate port for SMTP (outgoing mail). One possible port is 587. You can set this in Mail Preferences, under Accounts, then Server Settings.

  • Question about port C++ code to C

    I have a newbie question about C++
I'm being ask to port a C++ sharelib into a kernel driver for work so from C++ => C.  I'm not at all familiar with C++ but i'm making some leeway.  However i'm a little stuck, what does the following line of code in bold mean in C++ and how would I translate it into C code?
    #include <deque>
    struct _buffer
        UINT8* buffer;
        UINT8 length;
    typedef deque< struct _buffer* > MSGQUEUE;
I'm assuming it's type defining a deque of the struct _buffer???  but I'm confused by the <...>, what does that operator do in C++.  Is it defining a struct _buffer pointer within the deque???
This might like a "DUH it means...." question to some people so sorry about the stupid question.
    --Vincent

<> is template syntax and is generally the type of object a container holds..   So it is defining that the MSGQUEUE type is a deque holding struct_buffer*'s.

  • Question about port forwarding 2 xbox 360s to get rid of NAT on one of them

I have a xbox 360 with the official xbox 360 wireless antenna that is already set up for port forwarding and my NAT is fine.  My brother has a xbox 360 and he has a NAT problem but he doesn't have a official xbox 360 wireless antenna, he hooked up his laptop to his xbox 360 via ethernet cable and is using his laptops wireless card for the connection and he gets a NAT error when he tests his connection to xbox live.  Is it possible to port forward 2 xbox's?  I'm sure I have to set up some type of static IP for him but the thing is that I'm not sure what IP address to assign to him.  If it is possible, would he have to use a static IP address on his laptop since he's using that for a wireless connection?  If this is at all possible could someone post some step-by-step instructions on how I should set this up?  Below I will give you what I have set up for my xbox 360 to open up my NAT I just want to know what static IP I can use for him.  Can I use just any numbers?
In my port forwarding tab in my wireless modem I have the following:
and in my xbox i have the following settings:
    IP address: 192.168.1.20
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
    Primary DNS: 4.2.2.2
    Secondary DNS: 192.168.1.1
I have all that entered for myself and my xbox NAT is open.  I just need to set up his xbox if it is at all possible.  Please help!!!
P.S. My router is a WRT54GS v2.0 with updated firmware, just incase you need that info.
Message Edited by nourotherleft on 01-08-2009 03:20 PM

ok that still didn't help me.... he still has a NAT problem.... I don't....I went to port triggering and added the ports that you described but it didn't open his NAT... If the connection is going through his laptop(acting like the xbox 360's wireless antenna) wouldn't either his laptop or his xbox need a static ip? because I had to set up my xbox manually with the following addresses:
    ip: 192.168.1.20
    subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
    default gateway: 192.168.1.1
    primary dns: 4.2.2.2
    secondary dns: 192.168.1.1
so in essence wouldn't his laptop need to be configured with some kind of static ip or something? because if he puts in what I just stated into his xbox it wont connect at all because I guess the ip's are conflicting....so what do I do now?

  • Looking to upgrade (finally), but first...(about port forwardig)

I've got a (fairly) old Airport Extreme (Snow) base station. Most of the computers around the house are new enough to have the "n" airport cards in them, so I'm looking to upgrade to a new base station that support this.
One of the pet peeves I've had for a while is that the base station that I currently have (snow) gives you extremely limited possibilities for forwarding public ports to specific machines. It limits you to 20. If you try to enter in 21 ports to forward to any particular machine, it gives an error and will not let you reboot the station.
Does the current Airport Extreme Base Stations have this same limitation? If not, I'll just buy a different wireless router that does and pay the couple of bucks Apple charges to unlock the wireless card instead.
Has anyone been able to forward more than 20 ports to their computer using the current base station?

I've got a (fairly) old Airport Extreme (Snow) base station.
You either have a 802.11b dual-Ethernet (aka snow) AirPort base station (ABS) OR an 802.11b/g round AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS). The snow ABS and AEBS are totally different animals.
    KB 107908, Identifying AirPort hardware
The new AEBS allows ranges of ports to be forwarded which makes life simpler. I also believe that the limit of 20 no longer exists.

  • Question about port-auto-adjust

    Good morning Tangosol,
In the operational config file does the cluster-config/unicast-listener/port-auto-adjust parameter apply soley to cluster-config/unicast-listener/port? Or does it also apply to the port numbers of any well-known-addresses that are defined as well? In other words, if port-auto-adjust is 'true' and you have well-known-addresses defined, will their respective port numbers auto-adjust as well?
    Thanks.
    Pete L.

    Pete,
The "port-auto-adjust" setting applies exclusively to the value of the "cluster-config/unicast-listener/port" element. When the port-auto-adjust is set to true, the cluster service will attempt to increment the local port number until it can successfully create (bind to) a UDP socket with that port. This significantly simplifies configuring multiple cluster nodes running on the same machine.
    Regards,
    Gene

  • About port security

    in the dorm
    I have 80 srw224g4 switch
only mac and ip correct on the database can surf internet
but some students steal other mac address
i want to bind mac and port
in the begining learn port and mac address only allow 1 mac pass this port
i find the fuction similar port security
but i set up max 1 and lock
    it can't lock
how i set up it will work?

I don't understand. What is the problem with the Port Security function?
First you have to enable Multiple Hosts on all those ports.
    Then you have three options:
    1. You can lock the ports immediately to the MAC addresses currently learned.
    2. You can lock the ports to a certain number of MAC addresses being learned. However, relearning and aging is active at that moment which means MAC addresses can still get "stolen" if the MAC address was removed due to aging.
    3. You manually assign MAC addresses to ports.
For no. 1: you select the port on the Port Security page. Choose Learning Mode "Classic Lock" and select the "Lock Interface" check box. Press the Update button to get the change into the table. Then click on Save Settings at the bottom to save the changes into the configuration. The switch will store the currently learned MAC addresses on that port. The MAC addresses learned and locked on the interface can be seen on the Admin - Static Addresses page. The addresses will appear with status "Secure" on that interface. No other MAC addresses are accepted on that port anymore. Violations will be handled according to the action defined on the Port Security page for that interface. (Choose "Discard Disable" if you want to force your students to contact you in case of violation and to regain network access). You can manually add/remove secured mac addresses on the Admin - Static Addresses page.
For no. 2: for learning mode choose "Limited Dynamic Lock". Enter the number of MAC addresses you want to accept on any given port. Default is "1". Press the Update button to update the table. Save settings at the bottom of the page. Now select the interface again and choose "Lock Interface", press Update and save settings again. Now the port is in learning mode and locked. Again: aging and relearning is enabled. The default aging interval is 300 seconds/5 minutes. If a MAC address is not used for 5 minutes it is removed and the port is open to learn a new MAC address. But at any given time, only the max entries number of mac addresses is active on a port.
For no. 3: permanently fix the MAC addresses to ports on the Admin - Static Addresses page. Of course, you have to do that all manually which is a lot of work. I guess, you will probably prefer no. 1 to this option as it is pretty similar...

  • Nexus 6004: Question about port-profile type port-channel

I'm setting up a new deployment of Nexus 6004 switches and want to utilize port-profiles as much as possible to simplify management down the road.
All uplinks to other switches, routers and firewalls will be connected using VPC:s. On the port-channels (vpc) the only thing that will change over time is the allowed vlans.
It seems that port-profiles of the type port-channel does not behave in the same way as those with type ethernet, at least not when adding vlans.
If I modify the port-profile using "switchport trunk allowed vlan add XXX" it will delete the previous config and only retain "switchport trunk allowed vlan add XXX", and not merge it with the previous config as is expected.
