Hi all - any idea how to download songs from an old AOL iTunes account - have updated to Apple ID which is fine for new songs but didn't realise this wouldn't include the old songs. Have a 1st gen ipod with the original purchases on if that helps

Yes, once the content is in iTunes on your computer, just click it to play and authorise your computer to play it by entering your Dad's ID and password.
Log into your own account and start purchasing your own content which will then be added to the existing content.

What may work is to restore the iPhone fom the backup of the iPod. However, if the two devices ahve different apps that come with the device, that may mess up some of the folders.

You mean update your iPhone software? Yes, you can do that on any computer, but it REQUIRES an internet connection & yes the software needs to be downloaded unless already on the computer and the exact version for your model iPhone.

You don't. Itunes is not a contact/address program. It does not contain your contacts.
They would be in whatever program you chose to sync. Address Book for example.

I was playing around in the Creative Cloud app yesterday. Way back in the stone age of the 1980s and 1990s, you could do that sort of thing. The way you learned how to become proficient was to experiment. Systems were generally set up (at least on the Mac side of the street) to behave more-or-less gracefully. In today's completely co-opted world, that appears no longer to be the case. Market presented me with a bunch of images. Being a Creative Cloud member, it *seemed* that they would be available, so I tried to download my first one. Well, I get a message telling me I'm not quite the class of Creative Cloud owner Adobe really likes very much, and that's just fine. However, the CC app keeps opening, and, when I focus on it, that cute little drawing in the window pops up. OBNOXIOUS. I'd be grateful for any advice on how to get it to CUT THAT OUT! Also, I'd be grateful if Adobe got a clue.

I just talked to Adobe customer support. Apparently, I was logged in under the wrong ID. (I have no idea how I have two different ones.) Issue resolved very easily. It's still kind of obnoxious that the CC app kept reminding me to download an image I could not have, but didn't display any message. While not absolutely accurate, a "contact us for an upgrade" message would have been less confusing.

All the apps on my MacBook Pro have been transferred to the Trash. Any idea how I might get them back into my iTunes?

I recently noticed that all the apps stored on my MacBook Pro are now in the Trash. This is the computer from which I synch all my devices. I'm not sure what I did to make that happen, but I'd like to transfer them back into my iTunes. I have tried to drag and drop them back into iTunes, and I have tried to right-click them to see if there is a good option. Any ideas?

If the applications have got a IPA extension, they are apps for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. First of all, open iTunes and go to Applications to check that your applications are still there, because iTunes removes the old app version when it is updated, so you may have an old version in Trash. In this case, you can empty it.
If not, open a Finder window, select the Go menu (in the menu bar) -> Go to Folder, and type:
~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Mobile Applications
When you are in the folder, open the Trash and move your apps to this folder.

Got a new ipod 30gb for xmas. Attached it to my mac and was told I needed to update itunes. Came to this site and started the download. Three days later and download will not complete.
Unfortunately I only have access to dial-up in this backwoods part of Maine. Apple support tells me I must have broadband, claimed it said so on the ipod packaging. But it doesn't, it says broadband "recommended", does not say "required."
I emailed support again and asked then to send me a hardcopy of the update. They refused, suggested I get someone to burn a copy of the update for me.
Sounds like pretty crappy support to me, as the package never said I couldn't use the ipod with dial-up. What has happened to the much vaunted Apple support that so many Apple addicts tell me about?

Old AOL iTunes account vs. new Apple account

Please help. I had an old iTunes account thru AOL (now expired). My son got an iTunes gift card at Xmas, and put the card number in when he signed on to the music store. The credit showed up ($15.00) in the window on the Music Store, but it would not let him purchase music because the account was expired on AOL. I then went in and created an Apple account using my new e-mail, credit info, PayPal account #, etc. Needless to say, the $15.00 credit has disappeared (and my son doesn't have the gift card anymore). I called the AOL number given, but all they want is for me to reactivate my account, etc. Does anyone know a way to retrieve the old information or someone at Apple to contact to rectify the account status? Any ideas appreciated........L

You don't have to change your AppleID just because the email changed.
You can manage your AppleID here, where you can change the email associated with that AppleID, and I think you may be able to change the AppleID username. https://appleid.apple.com/
However, if you already created an AppleID with that new email address, you can't associate it with the old AppleID.
Regardless, the username is irrelevant to the actual account. It's just a username, but when set up, it uses your current email address as a username.
