Hi All, Can I access Adobe reader internal variables in my pdf? for example location, file size, creator etc.

Hi All, Can I access Adobe reader internal variables in my pdf? for example location, file size, creator etc. I want to create a hyperlink in my pdf $Location/another.pdf?

Thanks Gilad.
let me rephrase my requirement. I have a group of pdf files where one pdf has hyperlinks to the other pdfs
parent.pdf
-- child1.pdf
-- child2.pdf
when I click on the child hyperlink I want the child.pdf to be displayed in another window/reader
If I have the hyperlink as file:./child1.pdf it does not work. It needs a complete path.
So when I create this file in MSWord first, Can I artificially create a placeholder for the directory and append the child.pdf?
suppose the properties say Location = /tmp/pdfs/
can I have in the hyperlink something like file:/$Location/child.pdf and when reader is used it substitutes the url
so I get file:/tmp/pdfs/child.pdf
Hope I explained this.
thanks
-Francis
OK, let me have a very simple requirement. Can I create a pdf and when I open it
there is one line that says - This File is in xxx directory.
where xxx is the directory name where the file is. If I have the file in /tmp then it should say This file is in /tmp directory
and if I copy it to /other then open it, it should say This file is in /other directory.

  • Can't access Adobe Reader,...

After downloaded the new Adobe Reader version, it states that I cannot open any documents in PDF without agreement to the End User Agreement first.  I've searched the Internet for this Agreement and found it but it has no where to AGREE.  I thought this would automatically be done just prior to Adobe downloading to my computer.  Re-downloaded and Re-started my computer,... still the same problem.  HELP!

What happens when you launch Adobe Reader via shortcut?
Go to Reader folder and double click on Eula.exe
    Accept license agreement from there.
    hope this helps.

  • Adobe Reader 10.0.1 printing queue is enormous in file size

Whenever I print a PDF that's roughly 4KB in size, it shows up in my printer queue as roughly 30MB.  It takes forever for it to print if it ever does.  A bunch of the users at my company are experiencing the same thing.  Depending on what printer it is sent to, the printer may not have enough memory in it to queue the print so the print job fails.
A small work around we found was to set it to, print as image.  That reduces the file size small enough to print but is still quite larger than the normal file size.
Is there a way/setting to make these files print normally?
Other files on our PCs print just fine.  It's something with Adobe Reader and PDFs.

I am having this same issue in my office.  The printer will partially print the document and also spits out a page about the printer being out of memory.  Selecting "Print as Image" is our only work around but this sends a large slow page to the printer.
This was not an issue with version 9.

  • Can I use Adobe on-line services to open PDFs and save in reduced size?

A client of mine has approximately 40,000 PDFs.
These are the result of a scanning project.
The third-party contractor scanned at a high DPI rate resulting in an average File size of 40 mgs
i sampled 100 of these files, opened them with Acrobat XI and successfully  saved them to a much-reduced file size.
Can I process the remaining 39,900 files  on-line as a batch or set of batches to reduce human intervention
A quick response will be much appreciated

    Hi Jack,
Do you have Acrobat Pro or Standard? With Acrobat Pro, you could use the Action Wizard on the Tools panel to batch process your files (Create New Action > Document Processing > Reduce File Size).
    Best,
    Sara

  • I can't access Adobe Reader or Azul or any apps in the new itunes

The new itunes on my pc will not recognize my ipad so I can't add photos or access apps.

Thanks ecpa. I eventually found the problem. ITunes indicated that home sharing was "on" but it wasn't. i had to first turn it "off" and then turn it "on" again. Silly really. Then I was able to download the latest software for the ATV, as you suggested. All works well now. Still not too keen on iTunes 11 though. Too many changes and Apple seem very intent getting you into the App Store to buy.

  • How can I get Adobe Reader  for a PC with no Internet access?

    Hi
I have a neighbour who doesn't have Internet access. I have downloaded the installer but the installer requires Internet access. Can I install it on my computer and copy the program file or folder to my neighbours computer?
    Thanks
    Geoff

    Good day Geoff,
You can download the Adobe Reader 10.0.0 installer .EXE file from here:
    ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/10.x/10.0.0/en_US/AdbeRdr1000_en_US.exe
Once you've downloaded it, you can burn it to a disc or copy it to a thumbdrive to bring to the PC that's offline.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
    Kind regards,
    David

I have the interactive student mathematics CD for the Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics (0607) Extended from Haese & Harris Publications that requires Adobe Reader and includes a 'Self-help Tutor". I can open all the features using Adobe Reader except the Self-Tutor. I get a pop-up message saying that: I require an app to open "26Unitary Method.app". I can find no mention of this app online so can someone please help me?
    Thank you.

Thank you for the prompt reply.  The CD says that it needs Adobe Reader (and it does read the 'Text book'), but it is not opening the interactive elements. Great!
I am doing as you suggest and contacting Haese directly. Again, many thanks.

  • Can't access adobe website using safari 7

I can't access adobe.com on my late 2008 MacBook running Mavericks OS X. Every time I try to access the website it says that Safari "can't connect to the server adobe.com"
I've tried resetting Safari and restarting my computer. I have Adobe Lightroom 3 installed on my computer.
    Any help would be appreciated!

You, or someone using your computer, may have hacked the system to redirect queries to certain servers. The file modified is /etc/hosts.
The easiest way to fix the hosts file is to restore it from a backup that predates the modification, or to copy the unmodified file from another Mac. If you can't do that, then do as below.
Back up all data before proceeding.
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    open -e /etc/hosts
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting. A TextEdit window should open. At the top of the window, you should see this:
    # Host Database
    # localhost is used to configure the loopback interface
    # when the system is booting.  Do not change this entry.
    127.0.0.1                              localhost
    255.255.255.255          broadcasthost
    ::1                                        localhost
    fe80::1%lo0                    localhost
Below that, you may see some other lines. The first 10 lines should be exactly as above, apart from differences in the blank space within lines. Otherwise you can't use this procedure—STOP and ask for guidance.
If the contents of the TextEdit window are as described, close it, then enter the following command in the Terminal window in the same way as before (by copy and paste):
    sudo sed -i~ '11,$d' /etc/hosts
This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. Type carefully and then press return. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Confirm. Quit Terminal.
If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator. Log in as one and start over.
That will fix the hosts file. There is now a copy of the old hosts file with the name "hosts~" in the same folder as "hosts". You can delete the copy if you wish. Don't delete the file named "hosts".

  • Can't Get Adobe Reader 8.1 to Open in Windows XP

All of a sudden, I can't get Adobe Reader to open in the Windows XP environment on my laptop. Message: "Adobe Reader 8.1 has encountered a problem and needs to close..." [Error Signature: AppName: acrord32.exe AppVer: 8.1.0.137 ModName: mvcr70.dl ModVer: 7.0.9466.0 Offset: 000013d6] Have tried everything I could think of: uninstalling previous versions, reinstalling 8.1 from the website, disabling Norton 360 protection while downloading. Anybody know what gives and how to fix it?

    >When this many people are having this many problems with the program, Adobe has a problem.
For every one person that's having a problem here, there could be fifty more that aren't.
The ones that aren't typically don't come here and talk about it.
    >If you read through the Adobe Bulletin Boards you can see that there are many, many people having trouble with Adobe Reader 8.1.
And if you read far enough to see the solutions, you'll notice a big trend in user errors.
I'm not saying Reader doesn't have it's issues (sure it does), just saying that there are no more issues with it than there are with any application.

  • I can't install adobe reader XI

I uninstalled the program because the last few days the program immediately shuts down and doesn't open again.  So I uninstalled it and tried to reinstall the program but I can't get past step 2.  It immediately tries to troubleshoot the problem but ends up saying that something caused it to stop working and that I should wait until I get an email of the issue.  Which I have not received.  I have gone to my colleges Tech support and they don't know what is wrong with it either and they told me to try and get a hold of someone from Adobe.
So why is it that I can't download Adobe Reader XI!?  Because I now can't access any of my college work or information that I need to complete my classes.
Thank you to whoever answers this.
    Sincerely,
    A very angry Student

    Try the offline installer http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
If that doesn't help, tell us your operating system, browser, etc.

Leopard.  Did a full restore from Time Machine.  Now I can't access my other internal and external drives.  I get the following error: The folder “Capture Video” can’t be opened because you don’t have permission to see its contents.  I have repaired permissions pn the main harddrive.  When I try too click on a disk I get the previously stated error.  I can't even open up information to see what permission/access there is.  It simply will not let me see the content.  It shows the content of my main hard drive when I have clicked the other harddrive's name.

    Solved:
sudo chflags 0 /Volumes/"FCP Time Machine BU"
sudo chown 0:80 /Volumes/"FCP Time Machine BU"
sudo chmod 775 /Volumes/"FCP Time Machine BU"
sudo chmod -N /Volumes/"FCP Time Machine BU"

  • How can I download adobe reader 11

I am running windows 7 and can't download adobe reader. The download stops about 75% of the way through the process and a message says  that Windows installer does not permit updating of managed advertised products. At least one feature of the product must be installed before applying the update. I had reader installed but uninstalled it because I could not print documents. Every sense I uninstalled it I have not been able to install it again.

You can try using this tool to remove all traces of previous version(s) of Reader:
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Then, you may download the offline Reader installer from
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.
