Hi am unable to switch off my ipod culd u kindly guide

can any answer my question please?

Hello, Roger!
Thanx again!
I did manage to force-quit and re-start my iMac.
Wrt the attached screen-shot; it shows that I need to download the OS X Mountain Lion but in reality; I DID download it on the same day of its purchase - yesterday. However; it shows that it stll need to be downloaded.
Secondly; on the "updates"; one can also see that the iTunes 11.0.1 is available for the  update. Hence I clicked to update it yesterday. It was at that time; it began to update [I think] and continued - non-stop - since yesterday till I force-stopped it today; as per your suggestion.
My questions are:
1: Do I need to download the Mountain Lion once again?
2: If I download it again, what do I do; if it still shows - as attached "available for download"?
3: Should I update the itunes before [OR without] downloading the Mountain Lion once again?
4: To be able to update the iTunes as mentioned above; do I need to purchase it separately?
Thanking you,
With warmest regards,
Alhad Kothare

What am I supposed to do next?

    - What happens when you turn the iPod back on?
    - For a 1G and 2G Pod, erasing all contents and settings can take hours and you need to have it connected to a chargings source.
    - You may have to place the iPod in recovery mode and then retore via iTunes.  For recoverymode:

  • I switched off my ipod touch 4g during an ios6 update

it was during the ios6 update that i realised for some reason i did not want to update it because of what my friends told me, it had nothing beneficial for the ipod touch 4g, so i decided to switch off my ipod touch 4g and now it would not turn on the only thing that i could do with it was restart it which  i have done over 40 times and it either shows the apple logo and then goes dull or turns blue to yellow, yellow to white, grey to white etcetera.
Can someone please help me i don't know what to do with it i've looked everywhere for a solution.
and my dog bit through the top of my usb lead. **** you bellatrix

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I am unable to switch off Passcode on my ipad3. The button for switch off Passcode is greyed out.

    Hello again,
I have managed to disable the Passcode.
I checked and I removed a profile that was linked to a business app.
I think it must have been security policy through business app that didn't work anyway.
Thank you very much for taking the time to attempt to resolve my issue.
    Keep up the great work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • HT201401 i am unable to switch off iphone with the power on/off button.

i am unable to switch off iphone with the power on/off button. Though I can feel the sense of the button, but it doesnt work.

If there is Warranty or AppleCare make Genius reservation or set up service and take or send to Apple for resolution. If no coverage, Apple charges $199 for Replacement iPhone 4S. You can use Assistive Touch. Settings App > General > Accessibility > Assistive Touch > ON > tap new white screen button > Device > Lock Screen. This can be used to turn iPhone OFF, hold down on the Lock Screen icon until "slide to turn off" appears. To turn iPhone ON, connect to power, charger or USB port of computer.

  • Sony Xperia Z1 No Alarm Display and Unable to switch off alarm

Eversince I had the first Android Kit Kat update, my Xperia Z1 C6903 was not able to hear any notification sounds, my alarm sound worked but unable to switch it off or delete it and when my contacts call me, it send it straight to voicemail and I don't even hear the notifcation call sounds either. Did a reboot and went on safe mode, I still had the same problem. Found out online that there is a sound bug with my current firmware version: 14.3.A.0.681.
When the new update 14.3.A.0.757 was available, I downloaded it. After this, my sound notifications worked fine, however, my alarm is still not working. Both on normal and safety mode, my alarm does the following:
    1) The alarm sound works
    2) Side key behaviour does not show up on my screen, so I am not able to dismiss my alarm
    3) I manually go to my "Alarm and Clock" app and press the "OFF" indicator. Alarm sound does not stop.
    4) I have to go to > alarm settings >Delete alarms >Choose the current alarm to delete > Alarm Sound then stops.
This has been happening eversince the Android Kit Kat version was available for download (the previous and current one). I have reboot my phone, gone on safety mode, I have gone to >Settings >APPS> All> Clock > Clear Data, and went to the Sony PC Companion > Support Zone > Repair phone/tablet, as well as deleted all my apps.
I do not know what else to do. I can only conclude that this is an existing problem with the new software update. I need my alarm working or else I am unable to get up for my morning meetings. PLEASE HELP!

so i have been having the exact problem on my Z1. the alrm goes off at the right time....the notification works perfectly but you just cannot switch it off or snooze it. if i go to the drop down menu the active alarm is not listed there...the side buttons dont work or have no effect even when configured.
you literally have to power the phone off for it to stop sounding. this is really annoying and i notice that teh last comment here was a month ago and Sony have still not addressed this problem. if you google this issue there a stacks of people with the same problem and more frustarted as we keep getting suggested fixes like clear clock cache which EVERYONE knows will not work as the problem is not with the data of the alarm....its a bug in the software that prevents the app from excuting teh way it was intended to.
my alarms worked perfectly fine before teh update was applied. ever since teh update i ahev had this problem. i dont believe that a solution is to install another alarm app from google play store. i bought the phone which advertises the alarm as a feature and if sony cannot fix or address this probelm then you have falsely advertised...
i am a sold out sony fan...i will never purchase any other brand of phone based on my past experience with sony products but this problem is making me think otherwise. give us a proper fix for this alarm issue and dont treat us like ignorant fools with your suggessted fixes like start in safe mode or reboot your phone....that will never ever fix the problem....its just a way of avoiding the fact that you dont know what to do to fix this problem...

I Am unable to power off my iPad. Any suggestions?

    Hi there smdsue,
You may want to try resetting the device. To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo. Take a look at the article below for more information.

  • Expose crashes and then unable to switch off

Sometime - and I cannot identify a reason or scheme behind - the activation of Expose in the screen corner stops working. When I use it via the programme icon it works.
In these cases, when Expose is not working anymore, I cannto switch my MacBookPro off. The Dock and the icons disappear, the mouse pointer not and nothing happens forever.
After a restart everything is fine again. No other application or function is affected, everything fine - just Expose and then the switch off problem.
    Any idea? Thanks!

You are not alone...Did you ever find what the issue was or a fix? My wife blames all my 3rd party apps.
I do get some permissions errors from time to time as well...wonder if they are associated?

  • Can't switch off my ipod

i know it sounds stupid...people having problems with switching it on..i have problem with switching it off...I've been using my ipod for a year...but now i couldn't switch it off anymore...i had to leave it on while it's charing...it really annoys me...has anyone got a clue what's happening here?

Well in some instances the iPod might get into a state in which it needs to be drained completely before it can be reset so try these steps.
    1. Disconnect iPod from all power sources and leave it disconnected for about 24 hours.
    2. Reconnect iPod to the Apple iPod Power Adapter or the computer and reset it.

  • I am unable to switch on my ipod shuffle gen 4

i ws using my ipod shuffle in morning and in evening when i tried to switch it on it is not switvhing on ...plzzz help

That means you don't know if the problem is the iPod not working or if it's not being charged.
If the iPod is fairly new to you, make sure the plug on the USB docking cable is completely inserted into the shuffle's headphones jack, as shown in this document
iPod shuffle (4th generation): Not seen in iTunes - Apple Support
Also, are you using the USB docking cable that came with the shuffle?  If it's a replacement cable, it needs to be for 3rd and 4th gen shuffle.  A cable for 2nd gen shuffle will not work, because the connector is different.
Otherwise, there are three possibilities.  (1) There is a problem with the USB port on the computer.  To rule this out, you should shut down (power off) the computer and disconnect all USB devices (including hubs).  You can leave standard keyboard/mouse connected, if used.  Put the shuffle's power switch in the OFF position.  If the computer is a laptop, connect its power adapter so that it's not running on battery power.  Startup computer, run iTunes, and connect shuffle to a direct USB port on computer.  If it still does not work (and no light on shuffle at all immediately after connection), connect something similar (like a USB flash drive) to the same USB port to confirm it works.
    (2) There is a problem with the USB docking cable.  To rule this out, you need to try a different cable, or use the cable you have with another shuffle.
    (3) There is a problem on the shuffle.  If you have ruled out (1) and (2), it is likely to be (3).  If you have an Apple Store nearby, you may want to make a reservation at the store's Genius Bar to have it checked.  Take along your docking cable.  If it's less than one year from purchase date, it is under warranty for manufacturing defects.

  • Volume switch off but IPOD plays through speakers

I was at a conference today and turned my iphone off so it would not ring. After about 5 hours I started messing with my phone (I know I shouldn't have but...) Anyways, all sounds are muted except IPOD functions. Songs and movies play through the speaker even when the mute swithch is activated. Anyone else have this? Is it in need of a fix or am I missing another place to mute the phone?

Page 37 of the iPhone User Guide describes the switch as a ring/silence switch.
Page 96 states that when set to silent, the phone will not play any ring, alert or effects sounds. It does play alarms set by the clock.
Go to Settings - Sounds on your iPhone to see what is controlled by the ring/silent switch. Don't fool with anything else while "in conference".

  • N96 - Unable to switch off the Status Light

I am trying to disable the illumination light for the rim around the scroll key. I downloaded the N96 user guide from your site which says that the phone has the option under Tools > Settings > General > Personalisation > Standby Mode > Status Light. When I go to Standby Mode on the phone, I only have the Shortcuts and Standby Theme as options. The Status Light and Operato Logo options are not there. Is there any other way I can disable the illumination on the scroll key?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You need to turn off the 'breathing' feature.
    Tools/ Settings/ General/ Navi Wheel/ Breathing - Off
