Hi, can anyone help with the problem I am having with pro book 4440s? I can't boot into windows 7, nor can I enter the bios cause i fogot the password. the error I am getting says "windows failed to start. a recenr hardware or software change might be the cause. it then gives me options to boot from a disc but I can't do that cause I am unable to get into the bios to change it to boot from a disc.
The error message goes on :

Status: oxcoooooof
info: An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration.
the only two options on the screen are enter=continue and ECS=exit
I just can't get pass this screen.

Hi,
If you don't already have one, use another PC to create a Windows 7 Rescue CD. Download the relevant ISO from the links below.
Windows 7 32bit
Windows 7 64bit
You should use an application such as ImgBurn to burn the ISO to a CD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here. Once created, or if you already have this, tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to enter the Start-up Menu. Insert the Rescue CD. Select Boot options ( usually f9 ), use the arrow keys to select the CD/DVD drive and hit enter. You may also get a prompt to 'Press any key to continue' - do this if asked.
When loaded, select Repair Your Computer and choose the Command Prompt. When this loads, enter the following commands and hit enter after each one - include spaces as shown.
Bootrec.exe
bcdedit /export C:\BCD_Backup
c:
cd boot
attrib bcd -s -h -r
ren c:\boot\bcd bcd.old
bootrec /RebuildBcd
bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /fixboot
Remove the Rescue CD and try rebooting the notebook.

Can anyone help me with a problem i am having with my music on my iPhone 4S. I have put alot of Compilation CDs in my library on iTunes. I download these tracks onto my phone, everything is ok so far. Now, this is what is niggling me and I don.t know how to resolve it. This is my problem:
Have downloaded for example: Queen – Bohemium Rhapsody from a compilation album as well as a few complete Queen Album CDs into the iTunes library and then put them into playlists,
When I go onto my phone and select Queen on the MUSIC app using Songs tab at the bottom of the screen it will display all Queen songs and their resective Alum pics, that is all those not in a complilation album, .
If I know the song title I can select the songs tab and find the song that way,
I’ve tried fiddling with the settings in the iTunes app by going to ‘get info’ tab and trying to sort the problem out that way but am not having much luck.What I want the phone to do is show, for example all Queens songs including those in compilation albums. Can this be done, would be grateful for any ideas on how it can be done, that is if ic can be done, any ideas

My Ipod was originally set up as a sub-account of a firends. After that, I got an Iphone and set up my own Apple account. I just got a new Ipod, and now can't sync my old Itunes to it. There is no such thing as a "sub-account." Also, you probably mean iTunes library, when you say "account." Your "account" in iTunes is your Apple ID, which is what you use to sign in to the iTunes Store to make purchases. iPods are associated with an iTunes library, not with an Apple ID (iTunes Store account). You'll need to clarify...
So, this is what I think you are saying. You previously shared an iTunes library on a computer with your friend. Your old iPod was synced to that iTunes library.
You got an iPhone, and at that time, you set up your own iTunes library. Is that on a different computer? How does the iPhone affect your question about the iPod?
You got a new iPod. What is your "old iTunes"? Is that the iTunes library you shared with your friend? -

Anyone have the problem I'm having with the Safari collecting cookies even when I'm not on a website? I cleaned everything out and checked several times. Each time cookies were added that I've never seen with my older version of Safari. I have the block third parties and advertisers but I don't think it works. I am having difficulty getting my scanner (HP5590 Scanjet) working with my MacBook Pro, can anyone help please. It did work alright with my IBM notebook.
There's a new driver bundle for OSX 10.6 that you might need to install, the HP link seems to be failing at the moment but there's a version of it here: HP_Installer_Scanjet_v2.4.3_Ph4.dmg

MacMail has stopped noting when I have read an email. For example, I had 17 unread messages, so I read them. Despite me having read them AND deleted them, the inbox still has 17 new messages displayed. Can anyone help resolve the incorrect display?
Lord K. Thank you. Yes I am within the 90 time period, however I travel Intertionally and I can not receive not make a call to Apple. I was just at the Genius Bar in Chicago and they said, don't worry about it. It just floats out there, however, I can not recover my messages on a flash drive. I need to go back to my old computer which I don't have with me. My messages were in folders for a lawsuit. It is going to take an incredible amount of work for me to, you have no Idea. We are talking thousands of pages! I the defendent will have them during discovery so I am not so worried. However, I can not bring them to him on a Flashdrive when I meet with him without an extraordinary amount of presssure on my part. THis is not just some little email issue. This is suing EXPEDIA and Tripadviosr.com

Whilst I'm at work I can't seem to connect to the internet, despite the home screen telling me I have a 3G connection. I can't get anything to refresh at all, until I go home and my phone auto connects to the WIFI and then I get all my emails and app notifications come through in a flood.
All other aspects of my phone working fine.

OCR Crashing Can anyone help me with a problem I am having with the current OCR engine crashing
I have a lot of difficult images to recognize and whilst I am not expecting good results I am hoping to OCR these multiple files without crashing the program all the time. I have tried optimising scanned documents on the various settings, splitting the files to make them smaller, using both Acrobat Pro 10 and 11 and Acrobat standard (same OCR engine for all), 3 different PCs but the program continues to crash, tried contact Adobe but no help there. For example it happens while processing the first page of a new scan if I open another document first then start to scan a new document. If there is nothing open and it is the first document in Acrobat then it seems to scan correctly. I will try closing each new scan as I complete it and see whether it happens again. Alternatively I may just need to close and reopen Acrobat EACH time I want to scan a new document - pain in the a*** but it might get me through until a real solution appears.

oh, scanned a two page document but didn't save it then tried to open another (24 page document) to insert the newly scanned pages into the old document only to have the programme crash, again. something seriously wrong with this. I'll go back to saving the 2 pages first, close acrobat then open the 2 documents and try to merge them...
then scanned 2 pages, saved closed file and reopened same file at which point Acrobat crashed.
switched off scanner, switched on again, reopened file, ok.
reopened 24 page document (in new window), ok.
inserted the 2 pages into 24 page file (now 26 pages), saved file exited, ok.
scanned another 2 page document, Acrobat crashes during processing of first page. not ok.
Going back to thinking it is the interaction with the scanner...
one comment, everytime I scan something for the first time Acrobat comes up with dialog box "Multiple scanner drivers detected. Please choose a scanner." . I have found no way of setting the preferences to use a specific driver, is there one? The options are Epson Perfection V30/V300; Sane Twain; and WIA - Epson Perfection V30/V300. I have always chosen the first option should I try the others? It does feel like it is the scanner driver but as I have said before I have the most up-to-date driver installed for it, or is it simply the scanner is too old to work with Acrobat XI Pro? Scanner is attached via USB, perhaps it is interacting with somethning else (I have a USB hub, USB linked hard drive and USB linked tablet attached) and causing the problem although I have used the tablet in the Epson scanner programme (which works fine and creates PDF files directly) and in Photoshop without a problem. Perhaps I'll just go back to using the Epson scanner programme and aggregate and reorder the files later in Acrobat.

Hey all,
First off i would like to say hey to everyone as i am new so i hope someone out there can help me and me likewise in the future.
Onto my problem. I recently bought an Alesis Multimix 8 USB and i am having a few problems with my iBook recieving the left and right signals from the device. I am currently running it through Ableton Live however when it recognises the mixer it says that there is only one input, the left one.
For the work i am trying to do i would need the left and right inputs to act as seperate channels into Live. When i first bought the mixer it worked fine and Live read 2 inputs easily however now for some reason it has stopped seeing one.
I think it may be a problem with the audio software in OS X 3.9 but i am not sure, i am trying to repair what i can however it seems to me that the only option i may have would be reinstalling 3.9 again from scratch.
If anyone has any ideas about what could be wrong or how to get the 2 inputs back i would be very grateful.
Please help me as this is driving me mad!

I cannot pretend that I know anything about your subject but a couple of non invasive things you can try before resorting to a re-install. (Usually a last resort with Macs).
1) Have a look at Audio MIDI setup in your Applications>Utilities folder and see if there is a setting there that with resolve your problem.
2) Create a new user in System Preferences>Accounts.(always a good troubleshooting measure this, whatever the problem). Log out of your own account and into the new. Does the problem persist? If it doesn't there'll probably be a preference file somewhere to do with the device you are using.
If the problem does persist then it could be the unit itself, the lead (have you tried a different one/port?), or - worst case scenario- a hardware/sw problem with your iBook.
Not a lot of constructive help, I'm afraid, but some avenues to explore…

Can anyone help; re: Faxing problems with my 6200 all in one
Our HP office jet 6210 which we use only for faxing and minor printing intermittenly goes crazy with blinking red and amber lights
when a fax is being received or when we are sending one. When the fax fails and we stop the blinking lights, it self tests then turns off. Sometimes when it does this we get an error message printed that says "Power Failure." The party being faxed gets 1/2 a fax or 1 page out of 5. I'll unplug it from the electric and plug it back in and then it will work fine for a day or two. We have tried faxing from the glass when we have problems and that seems to work when self-feed faing doesn't. We have not installed any drivers as this is not plugged into a computer but stands alone with it's own designated phone line.
Any ideas??? The machine is 5 years old and has never given us any trouble until now. Is it time to upgrade?

JoanneI have a new photosmart plus printer B209a CD035A and I have never been able to set up the fax, I get a message saying that the phone line is not connected to the modem, the phone is connected to my modem or I would not have an internet connection, perhaps I am not understanding it, I have the printer set up wireless now but it was wired before and I still could not set it up, I purchased it in April this year along with my new desktop Elite HPE-150f model AY603AA, using windows7 64 bit, now I have a problem with the alignment, all the fonts are cut off down each side which makes it hard to read instructions, can someone give me some help with this. The alignment problem has only just started this past 2 weeks. thanks
