I have the same issues on some machines. Is that an HP Server? If I remember correct, there are HP software components which cause this issue, related to resource assignment. A reboot will solve the problem, I did not yet update the tools on the particular machines.

When in Twitter & someone tweets using TMI - when I click on the link to open it I get an empty TMI.me screen. This is a new problem - started a few days ago. When I switch libraries I "lose" the majority of the material in my main library (or at least I can't see it) and can only restore it by repairing the database. Can anyone tell me why this is happening and how I can resolve the problem? Thanks
I seem to have found a way around it. Rather than switching libraries by going into files/switch libraries I used Aperture Preferences to change them. I've done it a couple of times and it appears to work OK.
That is an interesting finding. It suggests, that your "Preferences" file "com.apple.Aperture.plist" may have been corrupted and you fixed it this way. Can you now switch between libraries the usual way? If not, I'd try to remove the "preferences" file from the user library to the Desktop and relaunch Aperture.

I am totaly confused by eircom and efibre.......last year I was in arrears with eircom to the tune of( as I thought) of €357.66and I was disconnected but in the long run I got a huge bill in my door of €656.48 , when I had to the money to pay the original amount, I was put through to efibre who told me that remaining amount of €298.77 shouldnt have been on my account and they would take it off I was also given a new account and phone number. I have now got several bills from my old account plus a letter from a company called BCW (debt collectors) who are treathening to take legal proceeding against me...... can anyone tell me how do I get my old account information and that conversation I had that day??
Thanks Tracey,I got a letter from the debt collectors BCW on Thursday to say if I didn't respond to that letter within 5 days they were going to take legal proceeding against me. 10 minutes from receiving the letter I got a call from BCW to say that eircom had been in touch with them to say the issue has been resolved and that I don't owe the money,I am now waiting on a letter from BCW to tell me same so as I have it in writing. i have bought an iphone 5s few days ago and i noticed that vibration of my iphone is different from other iphones. my iphone's vibration is so loud and noisy it is kind of rattly noise whenever i recieve a call or a text message, So i checked one of my friend's iphone 5s and it vibrates just fine. can anyone tell me why is it so? is it a hardware problem or what?

My imac will not load after I enter my password. The only thing I get is the arrow from my mouse on top of a blank white screen. Can anyone tell me what this is? I've restarted and turned off several times. I left it on in this state for 8 hours hoping it would reload and work. No luck.

Can anyone tell me if the majority of the wifi issues are due to 10.4.8?
i.e., have many tested reverting back to .6 or .5 to see if the issue is/was resident then? Is that a possible temporary fix to the issues noted all over this board?
In case anyone wonders, my issues are similar to most others...BOTH my wifes 2.16 Core Duo and my new 2.33 C2Duo are experiencing the same issues. While at school, she cannot see any of the numerous nearby networks. I JUST got her to switch to a mac, and now this. Her old HP laptop saw about 6 or more wifi's nearby before, and most importantly her schools wifi connection. But now that she is on the mac, nothing. SOMETIMES, and I do mean only rarely a few networks will surface, but then disappear again. I decided to take my 2.33 C2Duo down there and see if the situation was the same with me...it was/is. Every now and then I might see a network or two, but not the shcools.
This in addition to dropping off my own home wifi over and over again also. I will get a connection and surf away, and then I notice that the airport icon has lost connection. I click the icon and there is my network, avail as ever, so I select it and surf again...same issue with her laptop and my step-fathers 17 inch Core Duo. We all experience the same dropped airport connection. And I can tell you it has nothing to do with idle time or sleeping. I can be surfing along and sometimes if I pause for less than a minute, the connection is lost. Btw, I also just got my step-father to switch, and while in general he is VERY happy, this is a knock-out blow to the saying "It just works." Uhm, nope it doesn't.
I have tried nearly every "trick" and tech troubleshooting idea I have come across here on the boards...I used to be a Mac tech in CA for about 5 years, working for ABC and Disney, so I think I can count myself amongst the more knowledgable Mac users out there.
So, to sum up again, can anyone tell me if they are having these issues with a version previous to 10.4.8?
p.s. BTW, I just saw the release of some EFI updates for the Mac line-up...I will update my wifes machine and let you know if anything gets better, but my 2.33 says that this update is not for this machine/isn't needed...so this EFI update doesn't resolve anything for me.

MacBook Pro • 2.33 • 120GB/5400RPM • 2GB Ram Mac OS X (10.4.8) Duo Mac Mini w/2GB Ram, 5g 60gb iPod...I had issues in 10.4.7 as well as 10.4.8.
My problems occurred at the beginning of 10.4.8, then many users brought light to me using WEP, which was not working that great. I changed my connections to WPA2 and my problem has disappeared. If my problem didn't resolve the way it did, I would have mentioned it the next time I visited an apple store.
The bottom line is that assumptions, complaining, and self diagnostics don't get many people very far and bringing the problem to apple helps them know the incidence of this problem, and helps them develop a reliable solution.
Though some users have reported the "cold shoulder" when reporting Airport problems to apple... I hope you weren't one of them. -
Can anyone tell me if Quicktime Pro retains aspect ratio once a video is rotated?
I'm reluctant to purchase Quicktime Pro until I know the answer to this question and Apple Support doesn't seem to have anyway to ask, so I thought I'd try this group.
I took some videos with my iPhone (the long way), and need to be able to rotate them and convert them to avi files. I understand that Quicktime Pro can do the rotation and conversion, but I saw one review that said the aspect ratio is not retained, i.e. the video comes out flattend (wider).
Can anyone tell me if this is still true with QT Pro, or if there are other solutions for resolving this outside of QT Pro?? I have tried a number of other converters, and found one that rotates, but aspect ratio not retained.

This may or may not depend on your specific work flow. Many "settings' saved to the original file by QT 7 Pro are merely "playback instructions" which may or may not play correctly in other media players while these same settings do work properly when saved/converted to a new file container. In addition, not being a Windows user, I don't know if there are are any significant differences between the Mac and Windows versions of QT 7. In any case, I just took a short sample clip, stored it on my hard drive via Aperture 3, opened the file in QT 7 Pro, rotated the clip in QT 7 Pro, and used the "Save As..." command to store the modified file. This modified file now plays correctly in current versions of the QT 7, MPEG Streamclip, and VLC media players. Have uploaded a copy of this file so you can download it, test playback in various players you normally use, and/or test convert it to your specific AVI audio and video compression formats.

As indicated above, the file plays correctly for me in various media players and all media "Inspector" windows, including other third party media information utilities, confirm the correct dimensions and aspect ratio as displayed. As to AVI conversion, I test converted the uploaded file to AVI (DivX5/MP3) at original dimensions using VisualHub. (Also tried the VideoMonkey AVI encode but it limited the source 720p file to a 720x480 output and I did not know if you were agreeable to such a restriction.) Suggest you run similar tests with your preferred Windows converters to confirm/refute results on your system. -

Can anyone tell fromm the log below why my iMac keeps randomly crashing and forcing a restart? It is happening way too often now and it's driving me crazy!
Only just a few days ago I wiped my drive clean and installed a fresh OS copy of mountain lion, I then though it may be a Ram issue but a thorough test said everything was ok and I had a memory monitor window open last time it crashed which showed that barely any of the memory was in use!?

com.apple.kec.corecrypto 1.0Right so I decided to erase my harddrive completely using disk utility, then went on to install a fresh version of mountain lion (both by holding down cmd-r when booting up)
With a fresh system I tried what had previously casued a kernel crash, which wa copying a video to my downloads folder, selecting it and then hitting spacebar to preview it, the video plays fine for about a minute then it jolts, freezes and then retarts with a white screen saying I need to restart.

I have recently begun using Safari as I was unhappy with Opera but my husband and I have found that when visit the Webkinz site or the Moshi Monsters website, I cannot type out any messages at all within the games whilst in Safari? Can anyone tell me if there is a something that needs to be turned on or off within Safari or my computer to "fix" this? Or is this simply a glitch that make Safari unuseable to me? Thanks all!
I had issues in 10.4.7 as well as 10.4.8.
My problems occurred at the beginning of 10.4.8, then many users brought light to me using WEP, which was not working that great. I changed my connections to WPA2 and my problem has disappeared. If my problem didn't resolve the way it did, I would have mentioned it the next time I visited an apple store.
The bottom line is that assumptions, complaining, and self diagnostics don't get many people very far and bringing the problem to apple helps them know the incidence of this problem, and helps them develop a reliable solution.
Though some users have reported the "cold shoulder" when reporting Airport problems to apple... I hope you weren't one of them.
