What should i do

Try to b boot into the Recovery volume (boot with the Command + R keys held down). If you can you can select Disk Utility to erase the hard drive and then reinstall Mavericks.

Installing Windows XP to its own drive - and install question

Am I able to install Windows on half of a formatted 500GB hard drive or do I have to install on entire drive?
I have already partitioned the drive with 2 partitions and want to install Windows on one of the partitions.
When Windows starts during installation, asked what drive I want to use (not the same screen where you choose the BootCamp partition - before that) and offers choices to delete partition or create one.
I have done this before - can't seem to remember what to do.

Hi Don,
for the BootCamp Assistant to be able to partition an internal harddisk, it has to find the drive to be filled with one single volume using the 'Mac OS Extended (Journaled)' file system and the GPT (GUID Partition Table) as partition scheme.
If already partitioned with Disk Utility for example, the BootCamp Assistant usually refuses to 'touch' that harddisk.
Personally I would go with the 50:50 approach. At least that's what I have on my third HD.
I never tried XP only on a HD with my Mac Pro.
Later Windows versions like Vista and Windows 7 work very well as single installs.
But XP relys heavy on the EFI-to-BIOS emulation Apple uses for BootCamp.
And besides what's the point to have a big unused/unneeded amount of diskspace assigned to XP, when you can use the second partition on that HD for some OSX useage.

How to install Windows 7 from a USB drive!

This is even easier than installing Windows XP from a USB drive, and will also reduce the time taken to install Windows 7, it took me about 15 minutes!
The advice in the guide is also applicable to installing Vista.
You need basically:
a USB flash drive at least 4GB in size
a Windows 7 DVD
To sum up:
Format your USB drive, with the NTFS filesystem
Open Command Prompt as an administrator, and run the Bootsect.exe program off the Windows 7 CD to make the USB drive bootable
Copy the contents of the Windows 7 DVD to the USB drive
Restart your PC, press F11 (or whichever key it is) to access the Boot menu, and select your USB drive to boot from

Hi,
I have a HPE h8-1240ef with a 1 TB SATA III drive.
I would like to add a 64 GBytes SSD SATAIII Drive in order to install Windows 7 on it , to increase performances.
Since we do not have a "Windows 7 installation CD" with the HP machine, I do not know how to install Windows 7 on the SSD drive and swap the bootable volume, to have the SSD Drive viewed as C: Drive.

Hey Grboutin,
You will need recovery discs to recover the system. But you will need a 160GB SSD as the minimum size to recover the system using recovery discs.
You can create the recovery discs on your PC, just type in Recovery in the start menu and Recovery Manager should show up. Follow the instructions to create the recovery media either on DVD or a thumb-drive.

but - the key is - ANY SSD will not work, you HAVE to have a 160GB or larger to recover to. Otherwise you will need to purchase a retail version of windows.

I got the solution;
Answer to question 1 ; using a backup & recovery software to clone my current OS, then transfer to my new hard drive.
Answer to question 2 ; download all the Drivers and software ( all the application that located on the DVD kit that I have) on Lenovo Official Website.
or other solution, send it to a computer service shop and let the experts ( the workers) install it for me ( the most simple and safe way).

How to install Windows XP into a Flash Drive?

I would like to install Windows XP into my flash drive. Not boot from the flash drive and install into my PC. I've searched extremely hard on the internet and found the other thing around and I tried what I could. Any suggestions? (Here's what I tried: Creating partition tables. Install using VMware. Using different formats.

I just wasn't sure if I was really getting "SATA" performance, etc. without specific drivers.

Can I install windows on a RAID hard drive?

Hi,
I recently purchased a used macPro. This mac pro had a raid set so 4 1TB hard drives were created to make one 4 GB partition. This made the raid utility pop up frequently saying there was something wrong so I just broke the RAID set and tried to set the disk up as their on storage partitions (Just as if they were 4 normal hard drives. Now that I did this, only 3 out of the 4 hard drives are visible in disk utility. Also, I reinstalled macosx snow leopard and tried installing bootcamp but when I partition the hard drive and restart using the windows installation disk, it doesn't show that I have any available hard drives to install windows on. Is this because of my RAID disks? (Sorry I don't know anything about raid disks and didn't know this computer had it before I bought it)
Any help would be appreciated.

As stated in the Mac Pro RAID card FAQ you can't install Windows if you have the drives controlled by that card.

Answer: Boot Camp does not support the installation of Windows onto a Mac using hardware or software RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Drives). Boot Camp is not supported on the Xserve with or without the Xserve RAID Card installed.

Look inside and see if there is a RAID controller from Apple, proably top slot #4. Also look in System Profile under SATA interface.
Pull non-graphic card, seems you don't need it if you have one.
You are not getting something: internal hard drives are one thing. RAID card is another. The RAID card just replaces the normal SATA controller that otherwise interfaces.
Take a look at the photos and manual for the card.

Baiscally if your Mini came with Lion Pre-installed new then No you can't use XP.
The Lion installed computers no longer support XP OR Vista via Apple's Boot Camp.
For one thing Apple only supported XP with SP2 in order to install it on pre Lion computers.
If the Mini had come pre-installed new with say 10.6 then you could have installed XP and still of been able to upgrade to Lion without any issues as you already have the drivers for XP installed. Lion only has the drivers for W7.

It's between the Control and Command keys on the lower left. It's also called alt but is best know as the Option key. You are using an Apple keyboard aren't you?
