In order to reliably save the info and be able to restore at a later date, you would need to use his AppleID.
Switch to it on iTunes, back the iPad up and confirm the backup exists (Preferences / Devices), then switch to yours, wipe the iPad and start afresh. Will also wipe his apps, as they are tied to the AppleID as well.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Back up your documents and everything else important to you, not that there is any reason to believe your hard disk may be failing, but the symptoms you describe may presage an impending disk failure, and you should have backups anyway.
To help determine the possible causes of this behaviour read the following. None of what follows is intended to fix anything, but it will provide the additional information required to advance troubleshooting:
Boot OS X Recovery by holding ⌘ and r (two fingers) while you start your Mac. At the Mac OS X Utilities screen, select Disk Utility. Select your startup volume (usually named "Macintosh HD") and click the Repair Disk button. Describe any errors it reports in red.
When it finishes restart your Mac and test again for operation. If it's still not behaving as you expect it should, please post the results of EtreCheck in accordance with the following instructions:

To end Safe Mode restart your Mac normally. Shutdown will take longer as well.

Unfortunately what you need is something that is designed for PowerPC Macs. Stuff that is designed for Intel Macs will not work. The PowerPC (PPC) Mac software is getting scarcer. Macs in 2006 shifted to Intel CPUs. Stuff that is designated Universal will work, and you can buy the retail 10.5 if you have no Mac OS 9 related software that needs to load. If you partition your hard disk, or use an external Firewire hard drive partition just for booting into 10.4.11 or earlier, you can still use Classic for Mac OS 9. Anything Downloaded with a Particular Apple ID is tied to that Apple ID and Cannot be Merged or Transferred to a Different Apple ID.

Can Apple update Snow Leopard so I can shut off Notifications in the App Store? I don't want to update to Mavericks.

That stupid Notification popped up for the 2nd time. I think it does it once a week, where it asks me if I want to update to Mavericks. It''s obnoxious and annoying because I screen record a lot and that can ruin my recordings. Not only that, but why is it trying to force me to update to Mavericks if my older Macbook runs Snow Leopard better? Boot times and shutdown times are better on Snow Leopard, and my fan doesn't run constantly on Snow Leopard like I remember it doing on Mavericks.

Ended up calling apple and got this fixed. Had to change id since it was made years ago with the old style of IDs.

Thanks in advance to anyone that can offer support.
I have used the Apple Configurator to add a profile to both my iPhone 5 and AppleTV (both with latest OS) to enable them to be on our corporate network.
I can now airplay from my Mac to the TV and my iPhone to the TV.
The phone can access the internet fine and the AppleTV can access YouTube and Photo Stream without any issues.
THE PROBLEM: The AppleTV cannot access the iTunes Store and the iPhone cannot get e-mail (either from Exchange server or from iCloud (or Gmail).
Thanks again for any support in rectifying the issue.

Yes, it's pretty much the same with photos, you can't save them to iCloud. Again you're better using something like dropbox.
There is a photo feature with iCloud call photo stream, however it only saves your most recent photos, 1,000 and your last 30 days.
