When you download iTunes material, does iTunes record the IP used where it is being downloaded to?  I am trying to track a lost/missing IPOD Touch and want to know if they have that data.   It was left on a small street and someone has found it and has been hacking into my account by resetting my password.  They took about 41+ dollars from my account.   I am hoping the IP it was connecting with to download to it was tracked and that I can get that information to figure out where it is located.

No. From the second link below.
"Apple does not have a process to track or flag lost or stolen product
    - If you previously turned on the FIndMyiPod feature and location service is on, and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud, sign in, and go to FindMyiPhone. It the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - Report to police and change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod.
    - Apple will not help

Your Touch is working correctly. Currently, without unsupported third party hacks, the Touch has NO disc mode. It will only show up in iTunes.
how do i put programes and games in my ipod touch
Right now, you don't. The SDK is scheduled to be released in Feburary. Then developers will be able to write programs that will be loadable.

    If you mean updae server
    Update Server
    Try:
    - Powering off and then back on your router.
    - iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
    - Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
    Public DNS — Google Developers
    OpenDNS IP Addresses
    - For one user uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes resolved the problem
    - Try on another computer/network
    - Wait if it is an Apple problem
Otherwise what server are you talking about

Try restarting. Press and hold the sleep/wake button until you see the red slider then swipe to power off. Then press and hold the sleep / wake button until you see the Apple logo.

    Not Charge
    - See:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
    - Try another cable
    - Try another charging source
    - Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, cracked or broken plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genus Bar of an Apple store.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
    and/or
    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • HT1349 Help! Ipod touch lost, need serial number.  Can I get the serial number off of ITunes?

My iPod is missing, needing the serial number.  Read in iTune support that the information is located in iTunes.  Cannot figure out how to find it.
    Any help is greatly appreciated

@frazzldmot when was the last time ur ipod was synced to computer?
if it was with in the last 30 days list will show ur ipod sn number with out ur ipod
Open iTunes without connecting your iPod touch. Hold the "Ctrl" key and click "Help" and "About iTunes" if you are using a Windows system, or click "iTunes" and "About iTunes" if you are on a Mac. If your iPod touch was the last device connected to iTunes, its serial number will scroll on the screen.

  • Missing iPod touch

hello! My iPod touch is missing and iam not sure where I put it and cannot find it in my house. I tried using find my iphone but I cannot see my iPod touch there pls help me!

Unless you had Find My iPod enabled on it then there isn't any way to try and locate it - and locating it via http://www.icloud.com or Find My iPhone app on another iOS device will only work if the iPod is connected to a network and hasn't been wiped and/or Find My iPod disabled on it.
If you think that it might have been stolen then you should report it to the police. As a precaution you should also change your iTunes account password, any passwords for email passwords that you were using on it, and any passwords that you'd stored on websites/emails/notes etc.

  • Using iCloud to locate a missing iPod Touch.

If my iPod Touch is stolen and someone swipes it clean would I still be able to locate it via iCloud?  I know it goes by Apple ID but does the serial number of the device have any significance in that situation?
To make a long story short-ish: My son lost his iPod Touch when visiting his grandparents out of state.  It was lost in one of two locations: a movie theater or a family cabin.  The movie theater lost-and-found came up empty and the cabin has been searched (although I'm not sure how thorough they were as it's a big place and there's a lot of stuff there).  It went missing on Tuesday evening but they didn't realize it was gone until Wednesday morning.  I was informed Thursday morning and I immediately checked iCloud to see if I could locate it.  It's been "offline" or "not found" every time I check.  The battery was dead when it was lost, but I set up a message to be sent informing whoever "finds" it that the ipod is lost, belongs to a child, and gave a phone number to contact me, for whatever it's worth.  It should also lock itself, but obviously this can only happen if it connects to wifi.  Since there was a good gap of time between the iPod going missing and me finding out about it, I'm afraid someone has already swiped it and kept it for themselves.  Mail, Safari and all the good stuff has been blocked via parental controls so unless they share his taste in music or games they'd be out of luck.  My kid is devastated as he saved for a really long time to by that for himself. I really wish there was a way to flag an iPod's serial number as stolen within the Apple community.
Thanks for any help/insight you can give me.

Thank you.  At this point I guess our only hope is that it's sitting on a shelf somewhere at the house and my kid and my dad are just terrible at finding things.

  • Help! iPod Touch deleted songs after connecting to iTunes but songs still show up in iTunes display

I connected my iPod Touch 64GB (iOS 5.1.1.) to iTunes (12.0.5.00) on my MacBook Pro (10.10.2) in order to add a couple of podcasts.  Unfortunately, now only the podcasts show up on my iPod display -- they're the only audio media on the device. My 6500 songs, all my playlists are gone from the iPod (and iPod display) as well. However, on the iTunes display on my computer, when my iPod is connected, all my songs and playlists are there.
Hoping I can get some help figuring out what went wrong and how to get the songs back on my iPod so I don't have to manually add them all from a backup external hard drive (I don't keep them all in iTunes nor all the backup files on my computer's hard drive to save space).
You can see in the photo below on the left side of the display, 'On My Device', all my playlists remain. On the main display, all my music is there -- it's just not on the actual iPod itself. You can also see at the bottom of the screen, the iPod capacity bar, which shows that 56.80 GB is free, suggesting the songs are in fact, deleted from the iPod.
Can anyone assist? Any thoughts as to why the songs & playlists still show up in iTunes if they are in reality deleted from the iPod?
Thank you for any info or assistance, it's very much appreciated.
    Derek

And I've now tried connecting the iPod to an older Macbook running iTunes 12.0.0.140 and I'm getting the same thing -- the songs and media shows up under 'Devices' on the left, but they are not actually there. Trying to double click on them brings up the symbol. Wondering how the 'ghost' effect of them showing up in iTunes can happen if they are no longer on the iPod itself.
Thanks again for any thoughts, suggestions, or assistance.

  • Someone please help my ipod touch 2nd gen. wont turn on and it tries to start up and it tells me to connect to itunes!

ok so i have an ipod touch 2nd generation and i have had it for many years.   A few months ago it would not turn on and kept telling me to connect to itunes but the problem is my itunes library is set up at my dads house and i live with my mom.  so i tried connecting it to my laptop to see if it would turn on. well it asked me if i wanted to restore it and i was really tried and couldnt think what restored meant so i clicked yes! and it wiped out my entire library! i was in tears because i had had $50 worth of music and apps that werent backed up!  so i sent my ipod to my dad and got everything sorted out.  but last night i tried to turn my ipod on and it wouldnt turn on so i just plugged it in to charge and left it. i came back to see if it was done and it wouldnt turn on and it told me to connect to the itunes store. i probably have about $50 worth of music that is not backedup this time!  omg i want to cry!  i am smart enough to not pulg in into my laptop because i know what restore means now! and i have tried holding the buttons down and everything and i let it charge all day!  what do i do! please please help me! if i send it to my dads will all of my music that is not backed up sync into my library? or will i lose it all?!?! please please help me!!
