If your phone is locked to a particular carrier, you must contact them to request they unlock it. Once they've taken care of that and you've followed the instructions to complete the unlock process, you will be able to use the phone elsewhere.

You can upgrade direct from 10.6.8 to 10.8 Mountain Lion without going through 10.7 Lion with the Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody. The Model 5,1 will probably run 10.9 Mavricks when it comes out.

Also Mountain Lion doesn't run any Power PC programs. To see if you have any Power PC programs go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up select Applications under Software. Then look under Kind to see if any of your applications are listed as Power PC. Universal and Intel will run under Mountain Lion.
Before Mac switched to Intel processors in 2006 they used Power PC processors from 1994 to 2005. Power PC 601 through 604, G3, G4 and G5. Applications written for the Power PC processors need the application called Rosetta to run on Intel processors. Transferring video from laptop to iPad over wi-fi is quite slow. It is much faster to do it with the iPad's USB cable.
If you are transferring videos to a 3rd party video app, follow these steps (wi-fi or cable);
1. Open iTunes on the laptop.
2. Select the iPad in the Devices list in iTunes.
3. Go to the Apps pane for the iPad in iTunes.
4. Scroll to the bottom of the pane and find the video app in the File Sharing list.
5. Press the Add button and then browse to the location of your videos on the laptop.
6. Choose the file(s) that you wish to transfer to the laptop.

Firefox has gummed up by yahoo mail. 1/2 the time the email doesn't open, it doesn't 'move' on the first click. Anyone else have these problems?

My yahoo email has many 'delays' when trying to open and I have to hit "retry" and generally that doesn't work either. Since I downloaded the new FFox, it's awful! I'm sorry, but it is. I have these problems on both of my desktop computers.
Also, when I try to 'move' an email to a yahoo folder, it generally won't move on the first click, but takes 2 or 3 or more to get the email moved. What did you people do?

As John says, they don't make it easy to find. CS6 is now almost 3 versions back with no more updates being rolled out for it.
As an alternative to purchase, you might want to consider the Photography Plan which includes PS CC and LightRoom for $9.99 per month. At least, that way you'll be eligible for updates as soon as they become available.

I just rented a movie from the ITunes store ...

This is my first attempt at downloading a movie to my laptop, via Verizon MiFi 2200, to sync on to my Ipad to watch. It appears that the movie takes 8 to 10 hours to download. Is this correct? If not, what am I doing wrong. When I want to watch a movie, I don't want to have to wait a day to see it. Just doesn't make sense. Any help you all can provide will be greatly appreciate.

Further to my question about not being able to see the content, I tried to open the movie in Quicktime instead of itunes and it says, need authorisation to view content. I have never needed authorisation before and on Itunes my computer is authorised, so dunno what's going on.

I did find an error log related to the error code and tried all suggestions on the list of recommendations, still no luck
I definitely am running OS X10.5.8 (hopefully will be updating later on this month)
I tried several brand new discs from the same box, still no luck.
My last option is to go out and try a different brand, guess I'll go with Verbatim this time but I think I'll poke around some more before buying 20 more new discs.

No. There is a download for each system. What is common is the licence key to activate the install. The latest update issued today is here.

If you have a License for LR 2.x you can download and install its free and you can have it installed on two computers. One can be Mac and one Win or two on either system.
P.S The update is the full program so you do not need to install the original version, you just have to input the License Key. keep it safe.

Is it just the one film that is showing a black screen, or does the Videos app appear to be frozen ? If it's the complete app then try searching for the name of one of your videos on the iPad's spotlight search screen - swipe your first homescreen to the right, type in it's name, and if it finds it tap on it to see if it plays.
If that doesn't work then try closing the Videos app completely : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Videos app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Videos app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option if the two above don't work is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
