Hi I am looking to Study Logic...

...it would be my frist steps from music management and tour managing into Music Production, not just for a chnage of career but due to an illness that has now left me in a wheelchair I am looking to get into the production and stay in one place for a certain amount of time side of msuci. I have dabbled in some live sound mixing, setups etc and a little bit of everything within the idustry I guess but am really looking to spend the next however long learning Logic inside and out. I live in Surrey in the UK not all that far from London can anyone help, with advice on where to start, courses, places to study, places to seek experiance etc...

Okay, if you plan on recording bands as a career:
First off, diallow yourself of the notion that you need to "Learn Logic." First and foremost you should learn --seriosuly learn-- audio engineering/production.
If you want to be more adept than 90% of the knobs that think they are on their way to making great music simply because they have a cool DAW, then you have to avoid that ridiculous presumption.
No, much better to study the physics of audio engineering and learn the art/craft/science of RECORDING before you fret about the post production part of it. Learn and know how sound frequencies work, how they move through air and space, how they are percived by the human ear. God, this is so important and most kids just ignore this knowledge and think that if they have an awesome digital toolbox they're the next Brain Eno.
I'd go so far as to recommend that you buy a console mixing/recording board where you capture all your sources into one dedicated hardware device and also do your mixing there as well. Simple and effective...with the benefit that you'll only have a small finite amount of effects to mess around with.
When you don't fret about twisting digital knobs and adjusting toggle switches, what do you concentrate on? The sound. The performance. The craft. Isn't that what's important?
The "limitations" of such a singular hardware based set-up might seem counter-intuitive, but these welcomed limitations require the DISCIPLINE of capturing quality sound, and when you do that you're going to end up so much more talented and skilled than the majority of Logic users.

When I debug the message processing, it is looking for a port in table SSRVRTCONFIG, finds it(entry created automatically when WS adapter and the corresponding receiver agreement is activated in ID.
Then the program looks for an entry in "SRT_CFG_CLI_ASGN" for a proxy and logical port combination and errors out.
to be able to call an external web service, do we need a proxy to be created? I tried to create but the proxy creation fails because the external WSDL has some unsupported tags.
Also do we need to do any other configuration in SOAMANAGER? I am assuming not because the Web service is external.
Any help would be appreciated.

I already checked that note and made sure that the points mentioned are met. I have a trace set up on the target system and would know if the call reaches them and then fails in authorization. Right now the call doesnt even reach the target system and also from debugging I know that the program is looking for a proxy and then fails.

Seriously ... the macprovideo is a good start up kit. Keep it on your desktop and refer to it after watching. It will get you a long way. There are other more intense videos too once you get through that series. ASK video has a series. I would start with martin sitters first ... at macprovideo. Fast downloads and inexpensive.

In Logic Pro 9, how many midi controlled software instruments do you get...?

In Logic Pro 9, how many midi controlled software instruments do you get and is there possibility to download more as it says 40 on the programs info on the Mac Store, as i intend to compose on it but with only 40 instruments it's not really worth it.
So i was just wondering whether it let you download more for free.

Yes: I too am interested in the software instruments available in Logic Pro: one has to be a bit wary of the jam packs because there don't seem to be many solo instruments included. But I looked at the Logic screen in an Apple store the other day, and it worked like GarageBand in
this respect: you created a new track choosing the software instrument option and a whole lot of instruments came
up in a column on the right: lots of solo wind instruments, plenty of keyboards and guitars of course and not very many solo strings, only one violin, in the world music subsection under Irish fiddle. Yehudi Menuhin

Go through the below description of LDB. I hope you wil get a fair amount of idea.
SAP comes loaded with all the extras. Among the extras that are most helpful to IT managers are all the access routines needed to pull any business object that managers can think of out of SAP databases. However, SAP has not thought of everything where your particular applications are concerned. SAP organizes its standard database tables to service business units based on conventional business applications. Itu2019s likely your business requires something new, perhaps even something exotic. In that case, you will need to create a new database, using information from different places. Basically, you need a logical database. You need to create a virtual business data object repository consisting of a new kind of record or table that suits your purposes. In addition, the repository should be composed of information that is actually stored in a number of different locations, none of them necessarily logically associated with one another. Letu2019s take a closer look at creating logical databases.
A case for a logical database
Suppose my company manufactures widgets of the most obscure variety, and they are components of other widgets. I sell my widgets as raw material for the more sophisticated widgets built by others, but in some cases I actually partner with other manufacturers in creating yet another class of widget. Now, in my world, I consequently have customers who are also partners. I sell to them and I partner with them in manufacturing and distribution. Also, I need an application that uses both of these dual-use relationships.
Essentially, I have a customer database and a partner database. Neither contains records that are structured to contain the identifying particulars of the other. Thus, I need a hybrid database that gives me tables detailing these hybrid relationships. What can I do? I can go the long way around and write a new database, pulling information from both and creating new objects with a customized program that I write by hand. However, this process is cumbersome and contains maintenance issues. On the other hand, I can use SAPu2019s logical database facility, create my logical database in a couple of minutes, and have no maintenance issues at all.
Logical database structures
There are three defining entities in an SAP logical database. You must be clear on all three in order to create and use one.
u2022     Table structure: Your logical database includes data from specified tables in SAP. There is a hierarchy among these tables defined by their foreign keys (all known to SAP), and you are going to define a customized relationship between select tables. This structure is unique and must be defined and saved.
u2022     Data selection: You may not want or need every item in the referenced tables that contributes to your customized database. There is a selection screen that permits you to pick and choose.
u2022     Database access programming: Once youu2019ve defined your logical database, SAP will generate the access subroutines needed to pull the data in the way you want it pulled.
Creating your own logical database
ABAP/4 (Advanced Business Application Programming language, version 4) is the language created by SAP for implementation and customization of its R/3 system. ABAP/4 comes loaded with many predefined logical databases that can construct and table just about any conventional business objects you might need in any canned SAP application. However, you can also create your own logical databases to construct any custom objects you care to define, as your application requires in ABAP/4. Hereu2019s a step-by-step guide:
1.     Call up transaction SLDB (or transaction SE36). The path you want is Tools | ABAP Workbench | Development | Programming Environment | Logical Databases. This screen is called Logical Database Builder.
2.     Enter an appropriate name in the logical database name field. You have three options on this screen: Create, Display, and Change. Choose Create.
3.     Youu2019ll be prompted for a short text description of your new logical database. Enter one. Youu2019ll then be prompted to specify a development class.
4.     Now comes the fun part! You must specify a root node, or a parent table, as the basis of your logical database structure. You can now place subsequent tables under the root table as needed to assemble the data object you want. You can access this tree from this point forward, to add additional tables, by selecting that root node and following the path Edit | Node | Create. Once youu2019ve saved the structure you define in this step, the system will generate the programming necessary to access your logical database. The best part is you donu2019t have to write a single line of code.
Watch out!
The use of very large tables will degrade the performance of a logical database, so be aware of that trade-off. Remember that some tables in SAP are very complex, so they will be problematic in any user-defined logical database.
Declaring a logical database
Hereu2019s another surprising feature of logical databases: You do not assign them in your ABAP/4 Code. Instead, the system requires that you specify logical databases as attributes. So when you are creating a report, have your logical database identifier (the name you gave it) on hand when you are defining its attributes on the Program Attributes screen. The Attributes section of the screen (the lower half) will include a Logical database field, where you can declare your logical database.
Logical databases for increasing efficiency
Why else would you want to create a logical database? Consider that the logical databases already available to you begin with a root node and proceed downward from there. If the data object you wish to construct consists of items that are all below the root node, you can use an existing logical database program to extract the data, then trim away what you donu2019t want using SELECT statementsu2014or you can increase the speed of the logical database program considerably by redefining the logical database for your object and starting with a table down in the chain. Either way, youu2019ll eliminate a great deal of overhead.

In which package would I find the recalculate payment due date logic

In R12 Invoice Workbench screen when you change certain fields the payment due date is recalculated. I want to look at the logic behind that functionality. I am looking at the code for the form but struggling as I haven't looked at Oracle forms in years and never anything this complex. Can someone point me to the pl/sql package that contains the logic? Thanks!

The information comes from multiple tables.
But you can get most of the information from mtl_material_transactions. It will give you transaction date, type, subinventory, quantity, uom , transaction value
You will have to join the record with po tables to get PO#

I installed Lion OS X and Logic Pro won't run. I downloaded the 9.1.5 update: "An Eligible Logic Pro Version Was Not Found in the Applications Folder. This Update require Logic Pro Version 9.0 or higher". I have Logic Pro Version 9.1.1 installed.

For others benefit, here is what happened.
I had installed Logic Studio 9.1 some time ago.......not knowing what all the programs were nor what they did, I created a "Logic Studio" subfolder in my applications folder and put all Logic Studio programs into it so I'd know where they were and could review each at my leisure over time.
My assumption now is that when the updater looks for the Logic Pro program, it looks only in the applications folder. It seems lame that it would not also look in the subfolders of the applications folder, but that apparently IS the way it works. Because my Logic Pro program was located in the "Logic Studio" subfolder, the updater just didn't see it..hence the error message I received when I tried to update.
Solution: I moved all the Logic Studio programs out of the subfolder and now they reside in the applications folder. Ran the 9.1.5 updater and it worked like a charm.

Running Logic + Skype concurrently

I installed Skype version 2.8.0.851 on my mac about 2 weeks ago. Under Preferences / Audio I had two choices for input/ output: 1) internal mike+ speakers 2) Audio interface ( Duet ).
Since the Duet is connected to my Logic Studio music software and I wanted to keep the two apps separate, I chose option 1 ( internal mike+ speakers ) for Skype.
Then, when I wanted to open a Logic project, I first got a window saying Audio Engine has been removed and then a second saying that I would be connected to the internal speakers.
I checked Logic Preferences and Duet is still selected. But in reality it doesn't connect.
I checked Skype and my Mac Preferences and both ONLY now show the option internal mike+ speakers.
Last year the same thing happened ....... it took me a couple of weeks of total frustration to realise that the origin lay with Skype and not Logic. I then simply deleted Skype and everything reverted to normal.
I would be truly grateful if someone could tell me how Skype can co-exist without altering, my other apps.

Hi Erik,
Yes -the Duet disappeared after Skype was up-and-running. When I checked the Audio window in Skype before using it, the Duet was there, but I chose the internal speakers +mike. Later when I looked here ( after Logic wouldn't open ) it was gone from the Skype Audio window as well.
So I de-installed Skype, ran DU, cleared the caches etc and restarted. None of this worked. I could see that the Duet was active (lights on) but the Mastro windows wouldn't open either. So I reckoned that the internal 'connection' had been lost.
Then I simply pulled the cable put of the mac and reinserted it and bingo - it was back again.
I don't want to re-install Skype till i understand how to avoid all this shillyshallying !

Is there a function in Logic to move in one action several regions (that are each at a different time position)
to a same time position but on their respective track ?
Exemple :
Select 3 regions.
Region 1 on track 1 at position 1 1 1 1
Region 2 on track 2 at position 2 1 1 1
Region 3 on track 3 at position 3 1 1 1
Can we move in one action these 3 regions to the position 4 1 1 1 , keeping them on their respective track ?
I'm on Logic 8 and i haven't found this function.
I have also looked in the Logic Pro X manual but this function, that i consider basic for a soft that claims to be pro, still isn't in Logic it seems.
If this function exist in Logic, where is it ? How to action it ?

What qualifies a professional tool is,
for one part the good quality work that it permits to achieve,

i'm looking for following logic for Accounts Payable transactions ...i'm developing a report having 'document type' and posting date on selection screen.....
i'm downloading the results in CSV file... i want to know how to identify a bseg line item whether it is a gross amount or net amount... as my program does processing based on this ....
DMBTR will have the value for each line item (gross, net, tax) .... i'm looking for logic which should work for all AP document types (i.e., doc types in FB01) ....
i'm sure program needs to workout logic based on posting keys and may be doc types also... any help??

The essential first step when building a report is to understand your data. FI documents are configured differently at different sites, so follow the good advice already given and ask your FI consultant about this. To get some more technical information, display a document in FB03 while running ST05 SQL trace - the trace file should tell you all you need to know about how to get the data from the database.

What does the chain/link button in Logic instruments do?

I'm a new user of Apple MacBook Pro and MainStage v2.2.2 for music ministry work. Found the Logic Software Instruments and some useful documentation about the interface and programming for each, but no mention thus far of the two lines of controls that MainStage adds to the top of each.
First line is blue chain/link button - no rollover help, no F1 help, no right click context menu/help, no nothing. The pulldown items on that line and the stuff on line 2 is fairly obvious. What does that little chain link button do? Every one of the software instruments seems to have the button present.

Okay. I tried your experiment. Double click on ES P button in channel strip and up pops the ES P software instrument. Click on link button -- on is blue, I see -- and double click on EXS24 button in another channel strip. EXS24 window pops up, with the link button still blue/on, replacing the ES P window. Turn off link button and open another software instrument and it joins the EXS24 on the screen.
I now know what the button does, and that was my entire reason for posting, but your first sentence now has me curious. You wrote, "The Link function is not obvious in MS, but essential in Logic." It wasn't obvious because it's not documented, that I can find, in MS help, MS User Guide or Logic Pro 9 Instrument documentation. No rollover tip. Zip, squat, nada. When you contrast "obvious" with "essential," do you mean the feature is not relevant in MS? I'm not looking for a Logic tutorial, but I did find the feature mentioned in that product's manual. I just want to know what, if anything, I need to do with this in MS.
