Can't view or edit Application Insights webtests in the new Azure Portal

I'm in the process of setting up Application Insights for an Azure Cloud Services Web Role. Things have been looking good so far - I've enabled App Insights telemetry to the VS2013 solution, configured correctly and am getting usage/monitoring data
displayed in the NEW Azure Portal (portal.azure.com).
I set up my first "webtest" on Friday to monitor the site availability from three separate locations around the world and alert when down; however, logging in today shows my webtests graph as blank, i.e. contains no data.
Usually, when this is the case, there's a link provided to create new webtests, but since I've already added a webtest, this is no longer the case. So I can neither view or edit my existing webtest, nor create a new one. I have tried clearing
my browser private data and even use a different browser but the result is the same. I have also tried deleting and recreating the Application Insights instance with the same name but the result is the same (although the data from the deleted instance
remains...). My only recourse is to create a new, differently named Application Insights instance and set it all up again, losing the telemetry collected so far. This isn't such a big deal during the prototype stage, but when this goes into effect
on the production site, deleting and starting from scratch whenever there's a webtests problem isn't going to be an option.
How do I view/edit/clear existing webtests? Is it possible to do this through Azure PowerShell or the Azure SDK?

Adding users to roles in the new preview portal (new RBAC feature) does not work

When I click the Invite Users/Add button for any of the 3 roles in the new preview portal, the page doesn't load and instead, it instantly redirects to an HTTP 520 error page. Can anyone please look into this and fix it? It's been this way since last week,
which is when I checked it out but it is quite possible it has been this way for longer.

New Management Portal - Delete Function

Anyone using the new Management portal?
If yes then please can you let know how to delete a Azure SQL Server (That's associated with the SQL Databases).
I can see the option in the old portal but the new portal under SQL Servers, I do not see any option to delete these servers.
BTW these were test servers with databases and the SQL databases have been deleted but it leaves back the servers.
Previous version AFAIK used to delete the server as well then all the databases were deleted.
I know I can get this done using the old Management portal but I am just curious to know if anyone else has faced or see a similar issue.

One way to delete a server in the new portal, albeit indirect, is to delete the resource group that contains the server. Please note that this will delete the server AND everything else in the resource group. Deleting the resource group in the
new portal can be accomplished by clicking on the resource group name above the SQL server name (example:
Default-SQL-EastAsia) and then clicking the icon for "Delete" on the resulting blade.

if you are talking about the NewsBrowser of Knowledge Management (Content Management -> Explorer -> News), you should see a button "Edit" on the right side of the news.
Press this button and fill in a new URL in the input field "Image URL". After saving the new settings, the new image should be displayed.

The portal components or iviews are developed using the following three ways:
1. Abstract Portal Component.
2. DynPage.
3. JSPDynPage.
1. Abstract Portal Component:
Abstract component is similar to Servlets when compared with respect to capabilities. It handles requests and delivers responses back to client similar to Servlets.
The IPortalComponent is the central abstraction for Portal Runtime API. All portal components implement IPortalComponent interface. Abstract portal component also implements this interface through AbstractPortalComponent class.
It contains content creation methods like doContent() and doEdit() and also some event handling methods.
Steps to Create:
1. Open NWDS.
2. Open EP Perspective.
3. File -> New -> Project -> Portal Application -> Create a Portal Application Project.
4. Enter Project Name and Project Root Folder -> Finish.
5. Now we will get the hierarchy of folders for the portal application. Now expand the nodes and open dist -> PORTAL-INF -> portalapp.xml (called the deployment descriptor which contains the components configuration details ).
6. Now we create our components here. Moreu2026 -> Create -> Portal Component -> Abstract Portal Component.
7. This creates a basic type of iView. Next -> Enter the required fields -> Finish.
8. Now we will get a java file which will extend AbstractPortalComponent class.
9. We write the code in the doContent method.
10. Now we generate a .par file and upload it to the portal where we can run it.
2. DynPage:
For this model we have to write at least two classes.
1. A launcher class extending PageProcessorComponent and overwrite the method getPage().
2. A DynPage class extending either DynPage or JSPDynPage class and overwrite the following methods and implement own event handler method with the signature.
doInitialization: Called when the application is started.
doProcessAfterInput: Called when the web client sends the form to the web server. Except on doInitialization the call is performed every time an event occurs
doProcessBeforeOutput: Called before the form is sent to the web client. The call is performed every time even on doInitialization.
Advantages of using this method are the code is better structured and simple event handling can be achieved by using methods instead of writing long statements.
Steps to Create:
1. Open NWDS.

3. File -> New -> Project -> Portal Application -> Create a Portal Application Project.
4. Enter Project Name and Project Root Folder -> Finish.

The Java Servlet approach for developing server-side web applications has some drawbacks, e.g.
. Application logic and content creation is mixed
. Generation HTML output from a Java class is not comfortable (e.g. out.println(.<table name=\.table1\. width=\.100%\.>.)
. Developers need both Java and HTML know-how These issues have been overcome with the introduction of Java Server Pages (JSPs). These are simple HTML (or XML, WML, .) templates, enriched with special tags for server side page processing. At runtime, the JSPs are compiled to Java Servlets.
Steps to Create:
1. Open NWDS.
2. Open EP Perspective.
3. File -> New -> Project -> Portal Application -> Create a Portal Application Project.
4. Enter Project Name and Project Root Folder -> Finish.
5. Now we will get the hierarchy of folders for the portal application. Now expand the nodes and open dist -> PORTAL-INF -> portalapp.xml (called the deployment descriptor which contains the components configuration details ).

Now what to do .

I feel your pain. After having been at this for a couple of
months, here's what I have to offer you.
0) Watch every single one of the portal tutorials on this
website. They are little movies and slide shows with tutorials
and actual application walkthroughs that were EXTREMELY HELPFUL
to me and my team in the absence of formalized training. They
were really great.
1) Take a few days and read every single white paper that you
can about Oracle 9iAS Portal and its architecture.
2) Use the portal interface to create groups and users.
3) Experiment with as many aspects of the portal interface that
you can. This will help you see the strengths and limitations
of portal, and where you may need to focus your development
effort.
4) Create database objects like tables by using the portal
interface. Create an LOV off of one of the tables, and use it
in a form. This is all just general stuff that helped
familiarize me with portal.
5) Publish different kinds of documents to the portal.
6) Create a PL/SQL item in a portal. Educate yourself on the
HTP and HTF procedures and functions to print things to the
screen dynamically.
7) Most important of all, download as many pieces of sample
code as you can and install it to portal. On this website you
will find numerous instances of sample portlets and
applications. You will learn what it takes to install Java-
based providers, servlets, and others.
8) Using a good PL/SQL tool like SQL*Navigator or TOAD, browse
your way through the PORTAL30 data dictionary, going through all
of the tables and especially the packages. This will help you

You'll need to have 1.0.2.2 to be installed on the middle tier before performing the upgrade for your portal 3.0.9 upgrade repository on the database end. So that means, you'll need to wait for the Linux download of iAS 1.0.2.2 to be available before beginning your upgrade of the portal repository, assuming that your middle tier of iAS is also on a Linux box.
iAS 1.0.2.2 does indeed include Portal 3.0.9, of which Portal 3.0.9 components will be installed during the upgrade process along with the upgrade of the middle tier. During the upgrade process, the installer (from my personal experience on NT), will notify you that it is performing an upgrade installation of your middle tier, provided that you specified the middle tier's ORACLE_HOME when executing the oracle installer.
Just be sure to read and follow the 9iAS Migration guide before beginning your upgrade of the middle tier to iAS 1.0.2.2. After upgrading the middle tier to 1.0.2.2, the actual upgrade of the portal repository was extremely simple by comparison.
The upgrade of the portal repository took a few hours (my recommendation is to invoke it off before leaving for the evening), and it will leave a detailed logfile for you to peruse afterwards, if you choose).

ESS for R/3 4.6C on new NetWeaver Portal -- deployment fails!

Hi ESS Experts,
We're having problems deploying the older BP for ESS R/3 4.6C to our Netweaver Portal. Our Software Deployment Manager canu2019t install the file. Normally, BPs are .sca files but the BP for ESS 4.6C is a .zip file. We can manually rename the .zip to .sca, which is then shown in the SDM but the deployment always fails.
How can we install this BP for ESS 4.6C on our newer SAP NW Portal used for our BW system?

Have you tried to unzip the file and identify the required deployment files?
Further to this -->
If you go to /swdc it states BP ESS 4.6C-4.7 50.4 (no longer in maintenance) - this product is no longer in
mainstream maintainence
Also there are no guarantees that 46C products will work with Enterprise Portal versions from other SAP product families
e.g NW 700 with ESS 46C
If you have extended maintainence for 46C perhaps you could open a CSS/OSS message in component BC-CTS-SDM
to investigate why the installation fails and whether there is any workaround

I suggest you to clear all cookies and restart your IE. Let us know the results.
Also, I suggest you to try lauching Azure portal on a different browsers such as Firefox, Safari etc.

New Email portal

The way this change has been "managed" by BT is appalling. Regular messages saying it is to happen, but nothing on the portal to explain in detail. This has made the way open for "Phishers" to send emails with click through links. BT should have sent emails explaining what to do with no embedded links anmd to warn in that email (not buried on the ste) not to click through. BT should also have a "phishing report email" where messages can be forwaded. The only conclusion to be drawn is that BT do not take customer security very seriously.

I never bother reporting phishing emails, even when I could. What's the point?
Everybody, including banks who should know better, tells you not to click on links in emails. They then send you mails with links in them. BT is not alone in doing this.

New OracleAS Portal 10g Courses Released

Oracle University has released two new classes for OracleAS Portal 10g: OracleAS Portal 10g: Build Corporate Portals and OracleAS Portal 10g: Build Portlets with PL/SQL. The first sessions are in February in the US in Reston, VA. These are the very first hand-on classes on Oracle Application Server 10g.
A third class, OracleAS Portal 10g: Build Portlets with Java, will be released soon too.
