How Can I make time tagging for other data to be synchronized with GPS time every 1 sec. Thanks.

Another option you may wish to consider is to increase the number of serial ports available on your laptop. For example, you can obtain a PCMCIA card that has additional RS-232 ports. National Instruments has a 4-port PCMCIA RS-232 card available, which can be found on ni.com by going to Products & Services > Instrument Control and Connectivity > Serial Interfaces > PCMCIA > PCMCIA-232/....
With this expansion, you will be able to connect each RS-232 device to its own port, and then interface that within LabVIEW. Other options could be to convert the serial interface into another protocol, such as USB (as previously suggested) or Ethernet.
Hope this helps!

  • ABOUT GPS RECEIVER IN NOKIA 6210

I only want to know that can i grab the data of gps on my pc by using GPS receiver of NOKIA 6210...If possible how??...I need a GPS receiver and if search get over on this mobile phone i dont have to buy a GPS receiver separately...

You can use GPS receiver of NOKIA 6210 to get information from satellite.
But for receiving satellite signal you need to keep your mobile outside in open sapce , then only mobile's internal GPS receiver able to receive information.
Now to get information on your PC; you can try out to get it on PC using Bluetooth.
But I think for your requirement ; External GPS receiver would work.

  • Can I use an external GPS Receiver via Bluetooth?

Great phone.  I used a Galaxy Nexus for over a year until I got this phone, but once I started using the Z10, I never looked back.  The "Hub" is a GREAT feature, exactly what I use most of the time.  Oddly enough, I was never much of a BB fan until the Z10.
Anyhow, I have bought several apps and accessories for the Z10.  I rely on my Z10 a lot.
I still have (from my old Windows Mobile 6 phone days back several years ago) a perfectly working external GPS receiver that has Bluetooth (Holux GPSlim236).  Great little receiver.
Since I often use my Z10 for GPS nagigation (I am using Mireo DON"T PANIC) for directions whilst riding my motorcycle all day long, with Bluetooth enabled to my helmet, having the GPS radio on as well as Mobile (aka phone) and Bluetooth does drain the battery faster than if I could avoid using the internal GPS at this time (I still want to use the internal GPS at other times).  I do have a data plan, so I could use the internal maps, however, I often ride through places with no data access (back country).
I was able to pair the Bluetooth GPS Receiver to the Z10 (easy enough), however, there is no option in the "Network Connections" settings area to be able to disable the internal GPS radio, or anywhere else, so I can't tell for sure that this is working (that is, not using internal GPS but using external GPS).  I suspect it is not using the external GPS Receiver, though, since Bluetooth settings indicate "no services" for the external Bluetooth device.
Is there a way to sometimes use the external Bluetooth Receiver on the Z10 (in order to save battery on long trips)?
It is also not just for battery power savings, but also when I ride there is no air conditioning, so the phone does get hot, and I suspect would be cooler if I used an external GPS receiver via already-enabled-anyways Bluetooth.
    Thanks

I am not sure my original message was clear.
I have th Z10, it has GPS software and a built-in GPS radio receiver.  I also have an external GPS radio receiver, not a GPS device.  It is strictly a radio receiver.  I used to use it years ago on my Windows Mobile device - the software with maps was on Windows Mobile, and the GPS receiver hooked up via Bluetooth.
The GPS receiver in the Z10 uses the Z10 battery.  I have the Bluetooth on anyhow to connect to my helmet headset.  Since Bluetooth is on already, I could save Z10 battery by using the external GPS radio receiver (disable the internal GPS radio receiver), thought the map software would still run on the Z10.
So, the previous response says "does have GPS profile" but also says "external GPS will not work:".
I am not sure the statement was respect to my setup.
What I really need is for the Z10 Bluetooth to see the external GPS receiver, perhaps as a serial  device or as a GPS device, howsoever such things work, and for the GPS map software to use the external rather than try to use the internal (the map software should not really care, it should be the OS that virtualises the GPS port).

  • How do I get my iPad2 to use an external GPS receiver

I have a Marine Navionics Chart app on my iPad. I have bought an external Blue Tooth GPS receiver. The iPad has recognised the device. I wish to use this to improve the accuracy of my location when at sea. When I have "Location Services" off my iPad does not seem to want to use the external receiver (a GNS 1000 device).
How can I get it to use this device?

Make sure to select your recever in Audio Out options, under Sound in System Preferences. If you cannot see your receiver listed, than it is most likely ana adapter issue.

  • Does The New iPad have GPS receiver? Can I use it as car GPS navigate?

Hi, Does the New iPad have GPS receiver include as hardware? Can I use it as car GPS navigate?

If you get the WIFi+Cell model of iPad, then it does have GPS. You can use it for navigation if you purchase an app that provides downloadable maps. The built-in Maps app can work for navigation, but it doesn't provide turn-by-turn and requires an Internet connection to function and so usually isn't practical for in-car use.

  • How do I use GPS and Maps on my new Nokia N95?

    Hi everyone.
Apologies if my questions seem very stupid
I have read my manuals but don't understand how to use the GPS or to use maps. (FYI - I live in Australia).
-When I go to the menu, and click onto Maps, it loads up a picture of the world but nothing happens. There is a little wavey line thing in the top right corner that moves - does this mean it is searching for a position?
-Someone said everyone needs to make sure their GPS Receiver is turned on - what does this mean?
-Is there anything I need to download before I can use maps or GPS?
-Am I just supposed to go outside after clicking on maps, and wait for it to find a position?
-Do I need to download anything?
Thanks everyone. I am just so confused about how this actually works and can't seem to find any basic instructions or information.
    Thanks, Doc

    Hi doc18
Firstly if you are using v12.0.013 software on your N95 it is a lot quicker to obtain fix with A-GPS feature, although an active connection via WLAN or Network is needed. The symbol for this is a bit like two curtailed arrowheads at top right of screen.
There is an updated version of Nokia Maps 1.0 available:
    http://europe.nokia.com/A4509291
Go outside away from buildings and tress with clear view of sky. Open slider and hold phone at 45degrees, don't cover "#" key as GPS antenna beneath it. Low cloud or rain will make satellite acquisition a lot longer.
If you go to Menu > Tools > GPS data > (searching for + calculating data) > Position > Options > Satellite status
This shows any number of satellites up to five - empty rectangle = not locked on - black filled rectangle = signal acquired; you need a minimum of 3 solid bars for lock-on and triangulation to work!
If you return to using Nokia Maps application the "red cross" disappears off satellite icon bottom right of screen when locked on.

  • IPhone as GPS receiver for Wi-Fi iPad

As you sadly know there is no such feature, the iphone hotspot provides ONLY internet.
    what other options are available?
    1. buy BT GPS receiver in addition? which one is best?
    2. Apps?
Please share and let me know how did you overcome this.
[it's really annoying that apple couldn't overcome this and develop location service sharing between idevices (when using personal hotspot)]

One solution is a Bad Elf GPS receiver for iPad - http://bad-elf.com/
They've been making external GPS receivers for iOS devices for several years, and have some good online reviews.  They make BT devices as well as devices to connect via the older 30-pin or lightening connectors.

  • How to use GPS on Nokia E65

i am unable to use GPS on my Nokia E65. can u please tell me how i can use GPS on my mobile fone. secondly tell me does it coast some thing

Depending on your software version Nokia maps can be used as a GPS programme. With the latest Version 2.0633.65.01 Nokia maps is included as a standard menu item.
Your other option would be to buy a Garmin Mobile XT pack which includes maps and navigation. Depending on your gegion the price will vary.
The E65-1 does not have a built in GPS receiver therefore you will also need to purchase a one. Nokia's LD-3W works well and is not that costly.
Lastly Nokia maps will cost you as it needs to be activated for full navigation functions. Once again this will depend on your region.

  • N95 8GB with external GPS receiver

Not being too happy with the internal receiver on my N95 I bought and external one (HBTGPSOL BT Solar GPS Bluetooth GPS Receiver by Hamletcom.com).
It is very easy to connect by bluetooth but I cannot figure how to switch the phone from using the internal receiver to the bluetooth one.
    Any ideas ???
Message Edited by linwood on 23-Jun-2008 12:15 PM

You will get a meassage asking you whether or not you want to activate bluetooth everytime you run Maps. If you say yes, it goes to bluetooth if you say no it goes to the internal GPS receiver.
There is no real need to disable the others.

  • Nokia N97 + BT GPS Receiver

    Hey all,
Well I had my old N73 with my Receiver and my version of tomtom and it worked perfectly. Now Ive got the N97 and Tomtom, Its hard for the phone to even detect my receiver. It finds it, and then just sits at connecting to GPS device...
Ive purchased Garmin XT which makes use of the internal GPS which is nice but the internal GPS is too slow at obtaining a signal. Garmin cannot detect my GPS Receiver. Is there something I'm doing wrong?
Anyone here using a GPS BT Receiver with any GPS software and its working properly?

    @sargerx
The bottom line is there could be loads of reasons why your device doesn't work properly.
It's an interesting point about the bluetooth connection though. Although, when I paired my GPS device with my phone, I set it to connect automatically, is doesn't. Bluetooth is always on, in my N97, and when I go into my car and turn on the ignition, the N97 connects automatically with my car radio. So my phone / satnav device produces its sound via my car speakers, and acts as my handfree device too (there is a microphone in the radio)
However, when I switch on the GPS device, it doesn't automatically connect to the phone. The bluetooth connection is only made when I open the application on the phone. This triggers the bluetooth connection, and waits for a GPS signal. So the External GPS device can be connected via bluetooth, but not receiving a signal. It will hold the bluetooth connection for ever, even if the phone is not receiving a GPS signal.
So it's important to distinguish between the bluetooth connection, and the receiving of GPS information.
You've not said what display there is on the device, and what the device displays when it's switched on, making a bluetooth connection, receiving a GPS signal, etc. My device has 2 leds, which light constantly or flash, and in different colour combinations, to tell you whether the battery is high or low, whether the bluetooth connection is made, whether it has received all the info it needs, and is delivering the info.
What do you see on the device when you  switch on the GPS? Do you have any display at all? Unless you have some means of knowing what the device is doing at any one time, whether or not you have a phone trying to connect to it, you may never know if it's possible to use it with your phone.
Have you tried pairing the device with a PC? If you can manage to do this, you can probably get the name of the device on the bluetooth info box. Then you want to search for a manual.
The GPS (probably) looks like a "black box", but it can (probably) be reset via a PC, and may already have had its settings changed. There is software available which can change all the settings in the GPS. If somebody has already done this, you may never get it to work. It would only require for someone to change the baud rate for the main serial connection from, say, 19,200bps to 38,400bps to prevent communication.
You need to start by describing the "display" on the device, and its various states.
By the way, I use the built-in Nokia Maps, and also Garmin Mobile XT, both with the internal and external GPS's.

  • Does anyone know the technical specifics of the GPS receiver in the iPad2?

I have an iPad2 that I use in the aviation community and I am trying to learn the technical specifics of the GPS receiver in the 3G iPad 2, i.e. sensitivity, how many satelites does it receive concurrently, what level of accuracy is used to measure its reception quality?
Does anyone have this data or know where I might find it?

Ifixit.com identifies it as the Broadcom BCM4751 Integrated Monolithic GPS Receiver in their iPad 2 G3 teardown.

  • How to use GPS with n73?

hihi, just bought n73 couple days ago, i am new to this cellphone thing. can any1 tell me how can i have gps with my n73. like procedures, accessories and softwares i need to get it to work. is there a step by step guide.

I dont think it needs A-GPS with an external GPS receiver because it gets a lock so easily. I started mine from cold this morning (ie from off not standby) and had a lock in about 20sec. From standby I usually get a lock in 10-15 sec.
I was just about to buy an N95 when the new ones were announced so I'm holding off but I always thought I would more often than not use the LD-3W with the N95 while driving anyway. I think you can do that. No loss because I'll give the N80 to the boss (wife) anyway.
