  • I cannot get my new projector to work with Macbook Pro

Does anyone know how to hook up a projector to a laptop with dvi-i port? I have a 2008 MacBook Pro with DVI-I out and a new projector. i bought a DVI to HDMI cable and the projector couldsee some weird version of my laptop screen but could not see the movie that was playing, very weird. I don't know if I have the wrong cable, if there is an Apple compatibility issue or what. I cannot seem to find a DVI to analog cable adaptor (Fry's said I would have to pay $100 for a converter)
    Help! Thanks.

you need a dvi to hdmi, or can you use VGA, make  the connection from the Mac to the projector. Mac on projector off. Turn on the projector, it should detect the image, there will not be audio with HDMI, you will need to connect to the in house sound system. Same with VGA.
If it still does not see it go to system preferences>dislpays, detect displays, then adjust the resolution

  • How to get pop up reminders to work on macbook pro running lion

I presently have all of my devices, ipod, iphone and macbook pro syncing beautifully in icloud with one exception.  If I create a reminder it will pop up on my ipad and iphone, but not my macbook.  Sometimes I am at the macbook and want to see that popup from reminders.  I love that I can create it on my ipad and it shows up on my macbook in ical, but I don't get the same alert I will get on my ipad or iphone. I am just scatterbrained enough that those pop-ups are very helpful.  I have been in system prefs and ical prefs but not finding anything for this.  Help is appreciated

  • HT4245 I cannot get Facetime or IMessage set up on my IPad.  It isn't recognizing my password and Apple ID.  I have tried changing the password a few times and it still won't accept it.  Any ideas?

I cannot get Facetime or IMessage to work on my IPad.  It isn't recognizing my Apple ID or password.  I have tried to change my password a couple times and it still keeps kicking me out of it.  What am I doing wrong?  My id and password work for everything else!
    Can anyone help?

Settings\iCloud - Account is your Apple ID appearing here and is the place for your password full of stars.  The password needs to be the password for the email account - not your Apple password.
Once you have checked this go to Icloud main page and ensure mail is on.
Go to home screen and tap on Mail App - check that you can access your mail and your .me.com email account.
The check settings\General\Restrictions and ensure facetime is On  if restrictions is enabled - alternatively turn restrictions off if you wish.
Both services you require run through the cloud and need an active .me.com account to set up initially.  the default account can be changed from your @me.com later if you prefer.
Also note that once iMessage is active - go to settings\iMessage and ensure your Apple id main email is listed in the Receive at Field.

  • I cannot log into my iMessage account from my macbook pro, while i could login from other devices. What could be the issue?

i cannot log into my iMessage account from my macbook pro. but is able to login from other devices. I had to replace my logic board an year ago, could this create a problem?

    From the menu bar, select
     ▹ About This Mac
Below the "OS X" legend in the window that opens, the OS version appears. Click the version line twice to display the serial number. If the number is missing or invalid according to this web form, take the machine to an Apple Store or other authorized service center to have the problem corrected.

  • How do I get Snow to work with MacBook Pro running Tiger?

I have a MacBook Pro running Tiger (obviously), and have been trying to get my Snow base station (a.k.a. Dual Ethernet) to work with it, but couldn't.
After hours of searching these pages, Apple Support and Google, I found this: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301510
So...it seems like it can't be done. The question now is...what do I do? The Support page doesn't give me any help
    Anyone have any tips?

Just to confirm, n5k, the article 301510 says, 'To administer the original AirPort Base Station (Graphite) or second-generation AirPort Base Station (Dual Ethernet) from a Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger" computer, you must use AirPort Admin Utility'. It doesn't say it can't be done at all, just that that neither of the Airport Setup Assistants will work.
I'm having the same problem as you, accessing the Internet from a MacBook Pro running OSX 10.4.6 (yes, obviously) through a Snow Base Station. Now I am wondering if we will be helped by the MacBook Pro SMC (whatever that stands for) Firmware Update which I am downloading now.

  • HT5538 i cant get facetime and imessage to work on my iphone 5 after ios7 update

after my ios7 update on my iphone 5, i cannot facetime or imessage. it just says waiting for activation. help...it has been like this for a week now

    Try a Restart.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
     Resetting your settings
You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. You won't lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the settings again.
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends this only if you are unable to restart it.
Or if this doesn't work and nobody else on the blog doesn't have a better idea you can contact Apple.
Here is a link to their contacts with most of the information below.

  • IMessage not working on Macbook Pro

I have a Macbook Pro 15in mid 2014 and I upgraded to Yosemite and iMessage worked but now it doesn't (along with wifi but thats another issue). It works on my iPhone 5s but not my macbook pro. Ive tried to reset keychains and do a clean install of Yosemite and that didn't work either. does anyone know how to fix it.

    Hi,
    Earlier there were two possibilities:-
Either something about the app and it's link to the servers was amiss...
Or it was something about the set up within the Mac User Account you were using everyday.
As the same info worked in the "new" Mac User account it points to the issue being in the regular Mac User account.
This is where it could get tricky; trying to find out what that particular thing is.
It could be as simple as a typo in the Apple ID or the password.
It could be that the Contacts App > Card Menu > My Card does not list your details.
As the app seems to be saying it cannot deliver iMessages we have to presume there is something about how it is logging into the server.
It could be that the iMessages server can't find where to deliver it to,
It could be there is a subtle issue about how you are logged in that is causing the issue.
I would check the DNS Settings in System Preferences > Network > Advanced Button > DNS tab
This should show the DNS servers from your ISP in greyed out form (they are being read from your routing device)
Sometimes though it only lists the IP of the router (192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x)
It may pay to add a Public DNS server or two http://pcsupport.about.com/od/tipstricks/a/free-public-dns-servers.htm
If that does not work open  Finder window then use the Go Menu whilst holding down the ALT key and select the Library item that appear in the list.
    Navigate to Preferences.
Find com.apple.imessages.bag.plist and drag it to the Trash and then restart the app.
The .plist will be recreated but it will force the app to completely refresh the Login to the iMessages servers.
Crazygamer101 is right in that it is not a good idea to Delete an Mac User account until you have tried everything and moved what is salvageable.

I just got the ios7 for my iphone and I have iCloud set up, but I am not receiving anything from my device to my MacBook Pro. I have already tried signing out of icloud and signing back in. Hi,
Has the Contact's name or ID or iPhone number gone red at the top of the window ?
Do all contact's go red ?
Is there any error messages about all the Contacts "Not being Registered" when you try and Send an iMessage ?
And this Apple ID works in iCloud, iTunes and FaceTime ?
These are all different servers and you could (it's a possibility) that you have an issue with  just one of  them (the iMessages server).

  • FaceTime disconnects when answered on my Macbook Pro running Yosemite 10.10.2

    Dear Apple Support Communites,
I upgraded to Yosemite back in November and have experienced a multitude of frustrations so far. My latest gripe is that FaceTime disconnects as soon as the person I am calling answers or as soon as I answer the caller.
When I first did a clean install of Yosemite it worked absolutely fine. Ringing on both my Macbook Pro and my iPhone 6 but now it doesn't ring at all on the Macbook Pro.
Every so often my Mac won't shutdown (Finder won't respond) and I have to turn off with the power switch. Pretty frustrating really and I wonder if this continued practice has resulted in the further issues I am experiencing currently.
If anyone can fix this issue I take my hat off to you. If you can fix both then I will eat my hat in its entirety.
Thanks in advance for any help offered.
    Best,
    D

    Thanks for your reply Linc.
I have tried that several times but it makes no difference at all I am afraid...
