Your iPad should be able to print directly to your printer if it is an AirPrint compatible model.
Check this Apple support document to see if your printer is compatible.

Add to Templeton's post: Never hurts to power down the iPad, count to 10, then turn it on again.  When my iPad loses touch with our printer, we power cycle the iPad, and that normally fixes the issue.  Also review the link in Templeton's post.

I have tried unintalling and reinstalling as well as doing a soft restart on the printer (Pressing the 6 & #). I have tried putting the IP address in trying to find it that was as well buy the laptop just cant seem to see the printer.  Im sure its an easy fix and Im overlooking something. • Unable to set wireless connection with imac and Canon MX860 printer ...

I recently converted to a Mac and bought a Mac Book, iMac, Airport Extreme, and a Canon MX860 printer. i have installed the canon software numerous times on my iMac to set up the wireless connection. yes, the airport extreme recognizes the printer and i am able to connect to my private and guest networks. the signal strength is good. It's the next part that I'm always stuck at. The Printer settings does not display when i choose More Printers and select Canon IJ Network. I called Apple support and we tried changing my network settings to an unsecured network and it still has the same issue. It was recommended this may be Canon driver issue and advised me to contact Canon. I reset the Airport, changed my network name and password .. i think i tried everything and it still does not work. What was I thinking when i said i wanted to convert to Mac? I can't move forward and connect my macbook or pc yet until I successfully connect the imac. Yes, i installed the latest canon IJ Network tool. of course the USB connection is fine but that defeats the whole purpose if why i bought this printer. please advise how to fix. this is getting very frustrating.

Some help at http://store.apple.com/us/product/TV352LL/A perhaps in the comments.
And maybe at http://www.amazon.com/Canon-PIXMA-MX860-Wireless-Printer/product-reviews/B001R4C 5BK in the comments.
"I ran into the same network installation issue that I've seen in other Canon printers. Canon's network setup forces you to connect by USB cable first. Only after you tell the program that you want to use the computer over the network can you remove the USB cable, move the printer if needed, and if you're using a wired connection, reconnect a network cable. The process isn't particularly difficult, but it's more cumbersome than what other printers let you do, which is simply put the printer where you want it, plug in an Ethernet cable, and install the software." source = http://shop.pcmag.com/shop/product/pcmag/84634068.aspx?SB=6&OB=1
"MAC wireless network printer setup requires turning off firewall, and works fine if you leave firewall off (not recommended). If you set firewall at "essential connections only," wireless networked MX860 won't work. You must add MP navigator and solution apps to your firewall enabled list. Then it worked fine on the admin account, but still won't work on users account which required additional permission settings and selections. After 2 hours it worked fine, but I would've expected better instruction manual for MAC." source = http://cnet.nytimes.com/multifunction-devices/canon-pixma-mx860/4852-3181_7-3352 9769.html
"The only trouble that I have had with this machine is setting up the wireless network. The manual instructions are impossible for me to understand and I ended up having to call for assistance. Which easily solved the problem. And again when I had to reconfigure my network settings it was impossible to follow the logarithm of instructions in the manual. Again I needed to call for assistance. If I need help after the year manufacture's warranty I will be charged for these calls." source = http://www.zimbio.com/InkjetPrinter+Reviews/articles/1932/Canon+PIXMA+MX860+Wireless+One+PhotoPrinter
    Even Windows people have trouble:
"I NEED INTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO CONNECT MY HP LAPTOP TO THE CANON MX860 PRINTER."
"I'm with you. I have my mx860 connected usb to my pc with the printer being shared but my wireless laptop can't find it no matter what I try."
    And, unhappy Vista person:
"I had high hopes for this printer - it seemed to have it all. But the wireless feature never worked, it only worked on my gigabit network for about two weeks (only THREE print jobs including the test print), and never observed it to work via USB - Vista (x64 Ultimate) would throw an error saying it could not attach the device."

  • Cant connect to internet even though wireless is connected

I bout my mac book book pro 13" in March 2013. I was using without any issues all these days and Now i am in india and i do not have any issues even in india.
All of a sudden from 2 days, mac book is able to see the wireless network and able to connect but there is no internet - cant browse any sites, cant get email, no iMessages.
Any help would be great. I do not know much on troubleshooting in Mac.

You will need to get out your booklet that came with your Router, I believe you type in 192.168.1.1. to access the utility page on your browser it will have the information for username and password to type in there box.
There are several options that you can us, I use DCHP and automatic settings to allow the Router assign IP's.
You also will have the options to set up username and Password for WEP, WPA, WPA-2 for security and to protect your network from unwanted intrusion.
Read the booklet carefully and take your time.
This is one of the main reasons that Airport and Airport extreme Bases are recommended for Mac use they are right close to automatic in set up and use, not to mention the built in Printserver for wireless printing. This will allow you to use the Airport Admin Utility and the Airport Setup Assistant.(Very Mac friendly) where the others could care less so it seems.
Hope this helps, like I said there are several options for you to choose from to set up your network.
    Cheers Don

  • Where did the window go that gives the choice to connect by bonjour to a wireless printer in Mac OS 10.8?

I am trying to set up a wireless printer to a new macbook pro.  Both the printer and the computer are on the same network but are "not connected".  The printer works fine connected USB.  In previous systems there is a window that gives the choice of how to connect and bonjour is listed along with USB.  I cannot seem to find that window in 10.8.  I think the computer is just trying to connect USB and needs to be told to look for wireless printers?  The printer does not even appear in the add window when it is unplugged.  The drivers are updated.  I have restarted everything.  I have also run the wireless set up app that came with the printer.  Any suggestions will be appreciated.
    Thanks, Barbara

First is the wireless in the printer connected to your router? Is the Mac connected wireless to that same router? Can the Mac ping (/YourHardDrive/Applications/Utilities/Network Utility, ping mini-tab) the printer's IP (that your wireless router gave to that printer)?
Plus in 10.8.x to add a printer is first to get it's "driver" for that printer. Sometimes Apple might have a driver (for certain models) that will get in Software Update (when printer is attched to your Mac). The other way is to go to printer's web page and get their latest OS X drivers.
Then once you have the drive just open System Preferences->Print & Scan pane and use the + button to add the new driver for the printer. For this networked printer make sure you get the IP of that printer because you might need that IP here.

  • How do I connect my iPad to my wireless printer

How do I connect my wireless printer to my I pad

iOS devices can only print directly to AirPrint printers. All AirPrint printers are wireless but not all wireless printers are capable of using AirPrint.
To print directly from an iPad / iPhone you will need an AirPrint compatible printer or another device to act as a print server. That can be a Mac computer running Printopia ($19.95 with free trial) or handyPrint (donation - supported). The Mac must be "on" but may be asleep for them to work. Equivalent PC options may exist but you're on your own finding them.
You can also buy this standalone print server:
    http://www.lantronix.com/it-management/xprintserver/xprintserver.html
The xPrintServer Home Edition will support a directly connected USB printer. The Network Edition will support any network printer.
These options enable you to use any printer available to your Mac, even older ones that may predate AirPrint by decades.
Otherwise you will need to buy an AirPrint printer or multifunction device.

  • WRT110 wireless printer connection to Brother HL-2170W wireless printer

New here and I have a question.
I have Linksys WRT110 wireless router that works great. I have 7 notebooks working very well. Assignment were done with WEP connection and made sure that all the MAC addresses are registered and limits that router to recognize only computers with such MAC addresses... no problems at al here.
Recently I bought Brother HL-2170W wireless printer... followed all the instructions in their manual, registered its MAC address in my router, provided WEP key to the printer (via their web browser utility)... and this is where the brain fart started...
I can ping to my router just fine... I can ping the printer from the router just fine... however, I can not get the printer to work with any of my notebooks... It works fine if I connect it via USB or Ethernet connections, but nothing on the wireless side..
I know the IP address that this printer was assigned via DHCP... When I programmed the printer with the correct IP address, it also points to port number 9100... and this is where it falls apart...
Can someone please tell me what am I doing wrong or better yet, what step am I missing?
    Thank you in advance!

You said "I know the IP address that this printer was assigned via DHCP... When I programmed the printer with the correct IP address, it also points to port number 9100...".
When you programmed the printer, do you mean that you entered the DHCP assigned address directly into the printer, so the printer could use it as a fixed (static) LAN IP address?  If so, this might be the cause for your problem.  When you manually assign an IP address to a printer (or other network device), by entering that address directly into the printer, then you must use an IP address that is outside the DHCP server range.  See "Using Static LAN IP addresses" below, for more info on this topic.
Additionally, to get your printer to work, you must install the network printer drivers on each computer that will use that printer.
Additionally, for WEP, you must enter WEP "key 1"  (found in the router)  into your printer, not the WEP password or passphrase.
*****   Using Static LAN IP addresses   *****
Linksys has several rules for using fixed (static) LAN IP addresses.  You must follow these rules carefully.
Rules for using fixed LAN IP addresses on Linksys routers:
With Linksys routers, a fixed (static) LAN IP addresses must be assigned in the device that is using the address. So you need to enter the fixed address in the computer or printer, not in the router.
When using a Linksys router, any fixed LAN IP address must be outside the DHCP server range (typically 192.168.1.100 thru 192.168.1.149), and it cannot end in 0, 1, or 255.
Therefore any fixed LAN IP address would normally need to be in the range of
    192.168.1.2 thru 192.168.1.99 or
    192.168.1.150 thru 192.168.1.254
assuming you are still using the default DHCP server range.
Also, in the computer, when you set up a static LAN IP address, you would need to set the "Subnet mask" to 255.255.255.0 and the "Default Gateway" to 192.168.1.1 and "DNS server" to 192.168.1.1
It is also important that no two devices on your network be set to the same static LAN IP address.

  • Why I cant connect my iMac with my iphone 4s

Nothing. You can't pair an iPhone with a computer except as part of the Personal Hotspot feature.

  • How can I get connection from iMac to TV wirelessly ?

How can I view photos from my Mac hard drive or from an external hard drive on my TV screen? My Sonia Bravia TV is in another room and has a Wireless LAN adaptor which detects my Router and connects, and also detects an external hard drive connected to the Router via Ethernet. But it does not detect my iMac (can be connected to my router via ethernet or wifi- makes no difference), nor can it connect to the external hard drive. I don't care which source I send the photos from, but at least one would be good! The Router is a Netgear DG834GT.

You can use an Apple TV.
Otherwise, you cannot do what you are attempting.  Your television cannot access the devices and files on your Mac.

  • Printer and Network connection between imac and PC (Wireless)

    Hi All
I Have connected successfully to the internet via my imac through airport as has my pc through a wireless network card. But my problem is sharing files, networking between the two computers, it doesn't want to happen!!
And i am unable to print through the imac, the printer is linked up to the PC via a USB. The imac and PC are both connected to a wireless router/modem.
Would like some advise on these issues. Any suggestions welcome!
    Cheers.

Everything I know about a mixed Mac/PC network, I learned from iFelix and Joel Shoemaker. They both have fabulous sites that go through the process step-by-painful-step.
As far as the printer sharing goes, it took me a while to get it right, but I ended up using both the files found here and got it to work. Of course it was an HP printer, but there are others located here for other brand printers.
Good luck and let us know how things turn out.
