Hi, i cant update my ipod touch software version.

Hi, I think I've got the 2nd ot 3rd generation of ipod touch. its basically like the newer version, but without the camera. When i click on check for update, it says its update, but its not up to date because my sister has got a better version. i asked her to do it, but she doesnt know how to do it. Please help.

- If you have iOS 4.3.3 as you indicate they yu should be able to update to iOS 5.
- Do you have iTunes 10.5 installed on the computer? You need that for iOS 5.
- If you have iTunes 10.5 and are sturck with iOS 4.2.1 they you hae a 2G iPod.
- To determine the iOS go to Settings>General>About>Version.

if your ipod has only 8GB then it is an icompatible old model ( 2nd generation iPod ).
IoS 4.2.1 on it indicates that it is a too old model.
Only 3rd and 4th generation can be upgraded to iOS5.

It sounds like you may have a 2nd generation iPod Touch. If so, 4.2.1 is the highest iOS. Please note there was never a 2nd Generation 8gB version of the iPod Touch.
