can i update to any latest version of the os x software or thats it?

You may get a dialog box indicating you need to contact Microsoft to activate it if you've used up all your activations (2 for the professional version or 3 for the home/student version). Don't worry - you won't be hassled, just explain that you just bought a new computer and you are transfering the license.

How do I use my new mac instead of old one with my iphone 4
I recently just got a new Mac and wont be able to use my old Mac because I will be leaving for college in a couple weeks. My iPhone 4 is set up with my old Mac. How do i get it to sync with my new Mac now instead of my old one? Because of space on my iPhone, I manually manage all of the music on it. When I have my iPhone connected to my new mac, it shows up in iTunes but it wont let me manage my music.
You can use Migration Assistant to migrate your old Home folder to your new computer. Or, if all you want is your iTunes Library, then copy the /Home/Music/iTunes/ folder to an external hard drive. Then move the external drive to the new computer and restore the folder to the /Home/Music/ folder on the new computer overwriting the one that's now there.
If you have never started up the new computer, then you can use the Setup Assistant instead of Migration Assistant to transfer your old Home folder to the new computer.
The two computers must be connected by Firewire cable or Thunderbolt cable depending upon what they both support. The old computer is booted into Target Disk Mode while the new computer is booted normally. In Setup or Migration Assistant you would be selecting the option to migrate from another Mac or disk drive. -
So i got a MAC and im trying to update my apps imovie and iphoto but the old account i started with still appears and i cant erase it or delete it. Is it a glitch or something can some really help its a irritating problem. Plzzz respnd some one.

i got my Mac didnt have an apple id so i used my cousins but now i made me own like ac ouple months ago but when i try to update soem apps my cousins account still appears and i want to get rid of that. Hope someone can help really.Only the Apple ID that bought the apps can update the apps. That Apple ID is permanently encoded in the apps.
Your only option is to delete your cousin's apps* and buy them with your own Apple ID.
*Your cousin's apps on your Mac is software piracy. -
Upgraded old Mac mini (from 10.4 to 10.6) PowerPC G4 Processor, downloaded latest version of Firefox and ran installer, got a dialogue box that said 'not compatible with this architecture', now I don't have Firefox at all, and it is my preferred browser.

What is wrong with my 2 month old Mac book pro retina?
I bought a new 13 inch Mac book pro Retina at the end of May 2013. I have been to the apple store and called apple care several times. Now things are very bad. It would crash and give me a white screen every so often but over the last week things have gotten very bad. It will crash with the white screen, browsers and applications all close unexpectedly - it started with firefox then safari, then mail then face book, then adobe and finally iphoto and picassa. I did send in the reports. Also if I had a picture in i-photo my picassa program is set up to grab all pictures - recently any pictures that have been grabbed it says the files are corrupted. I keep having trouble with the air port utility in that it can't find the wireless network and or the time capsuel even though it can be wireless or plugged in by ethernet. I called apple care and got this very nice tech guy and he tried many different fixes and said he thought the hard drive would need to be replaced so got an appointment to take my computer in. They ran two tests and said everything is fine with the computer it must be the software. So now I'm supposed to get apple care to help me try and save all my data on flash drives! Can't back it up on time capsuel cause he said it would just back up the problem. So this seems overwhelming and I'm so upset. Well, then I thought about it and my old mac book in which all the data and software was transferred from hasn't been erased as I was having so many issues I hadn't done that yet. So my question is if it was the software, wouldn't it be making my older mac book do the same thing? What is wrong with my New Computer? As of tonight, I can't even open anything it gives a quick flash of trying to open and closes so the computer is totally useless - so no idea how to get the data off that is most recent. Apple says they cannot help cause it is a software program but now I have a 2 month old computer whish is useless. Any thoughts?
Call Apple and make a appointment.
You have 3 months of care and up to 3 years with paid AppleCare, let them handle it and bring everything in.

Hello! I just got my Macbook pro, and i wanted to know if there was any way to get my old games from my oldschool PowerMac from like 1994 to play on it......it says its not compatible...and that makes me sad..

DanIf your old games are OS 9 programs, then they will not run on the Intel Macs. There is an emulator called SheepShaver (www.macupdate.com) that will run OS 9. Then there's the Mini vMac that emulates an old Mac Plus.
If it's a PPC application and doesn't work then it simply isn't compatible with Rosetta. -
Just got a new imac and my iwork software wont work. I have the serial numbers but after migrating from my old mac running OSX tiger it won't even give me that opportunity. I do not have any discs as this was downloaded. Help

1. Does anyone know of a (free) mail notifier tool,
that will alert me when I recieve new pop3 mail? I
used to use AIM for this in windows
The built in email program does sound an alert for new messages.
2. Anyone know of a good (free, again) IRC client?
iChat works well.
3. I noticed earlier that my screen was flickering,
it seems to have subsided for now, but is that normal
to encounter in a new display? It wasn't really bad
flicker, but I could see it.

4. I leave my desktops on 24/7x365, will that be a
problem with this iMac? Display shuts off of course
after 30 mins
You could set the iMac to go to sleep after non use. My Macs are
always sleeping when not in use, waking them up takes seconds.
Unlike windoze, never knew if it would be locked up or not.
5. Should I get the extended warranty? I'm usually
against them, but I am expecting this computer to
last me at least 3 years (for $1300 it better!)
before I upgrade, as I got that much out of a Dell
and from what I understand, Mac's do not age nearly
as fast as Windows pc's.
It is well worth the cost. Never know what might happen. Also
it is good insurance for future upgrades. I traded in my G4 tower
purchased two years ago for 75% of what I paid for it. Apple care
transfers, giving the buyer the remainder of your warranty.

i recently got new mac air and transferred my old version garageband projects now when I open them in 10.0.2 I can add new tracks but then nothing can record, shows its receiving sound from software inst. but no sound. I checked audio preferences and they are set as they should be. I tried it in all the other older projects and same issue anyone have any experience like this very frustrating. Can one download old version still ? or can you run both versions on OS10.9.5 ?

Here's something I found out in the meantime, maybe this is interesting for somebody or maybe - problem's not totally solved - enough info for any of you to give me further advice.
When I start Logic Core Audio driver de-activated, I can open old songs. Then I save them in a new folder with all audio files and a new name. And I remove all EXS24 instruments as well as the Space Designer. I quit Logic, re-open with Core Audio activated and I can open the song.
Problem no.1: EXS24 instruments don't find the appropriate samples, but EXSMananger Pro did help me with this. Same problem with Space Designer, which doesn't find the impulse responses, connected to a certain preset.
Two questions, every idea would be great!
- Is there any way to teach Space Designer Presets where to look for impulse respones. I can load IR samples directly and create a new preset, but I can't use my old ones.
- Is it possible to install Logic from scratch over an existing version? Or how should I de-install everything connected with Logic and then install a fresh version from CD?

I used to have a pc with which I youtube converted the majority of my music library. After I got a mac, none of my youtube converted music would transfer to iTunes on the mac. Any ideas on how to put ALL the music from my phone back on to the itunes on my mac?
You can't sync music not obtained from the iTunes Store currently on your phone to the iTunes library on your computer. Assuming this music on your old PC, your only choice is to copy it from your PC to your Mac. Otherwise, SOL.

Just got brand new macbook pro (13inch) and restored all data from old mac via time machine. Now when I p/back a track in logic I get audio drop out for 3-4 secs every 10 - 15 secs!! What is going on and what can I do? Its the same version of logic and all other functions seem fine!
First of all, why did you say yes to Nero Back up before researching what it does with files already on the HDD? When I install Nero, the Back Up is the first thing I disable, it is a nagging pain, there are much better backup programs available. There are several file recovery programs out there to recover deleted files, that is, if that is what happened. Also, if you haven't overwritten the files, so you should be able to find them.

I just bought a Canon Vixia HF R300 camcorder. It looks like it gives me a choice of two recording modes AVCHD or MP4. I will be uploading onto a year old Mac Mini with the Lion Operating system and increased ram. I will be editing in iMovie '11 then uploading to You Tube. Which recording mode should I use? Obviously I'd like to get the best quality but I also want it to show well on You Tube. What do you think? Thanks for the help. BillHi

To make a VIDEO-DVD You must use a DVD Authoring program - to get the right compression format AND Structure - It is a MUST.
There are free alternatives - but resulting DVD hasve been far from what quality iDVD (and Toast™) will deliver.
To get best possibly DVD - also this counts.
- DVD brand used - I only Verbatim
- DVD type used - I only DVD-R Single layer (4.7Gb)
(DVD+R works for many and DVD-R/W usually don't work OK and Double Layer also are a problem to it self)
- BURN SPEED - I set this as low possibly (usually x2)
- Free Space on Start-Up Hard Disk - MATTERS - I never go less than 25Gb

Lightroom 5.5 corrupt catalog detected
LR 5.5 has corrupted my entire catalog. LR will not open. It appears to have occurred after I sorted my database by number of stars. Is there a tool or precedure to fix this? Thank you.
