No need to type in all caps - we HEAR you!
I would take a look at the internal drives offered by both Crucial (click the link "Internal Hard Drives Now Available") and OWC. I would stay away from Western Digital drives as they seem to have problems on a number of Mac models.
You can also shop for RAM at Crucial and OWC - just select the System Scanner tab at the Crucial website to find out which memory is right for your machine.
Good luck,
Clinton

This thing is so slow that you would think it was a 199 windoze machine. . Can I erase it and install snow leopard?
SassVery good. Let me explain to you how to install Snow Leopard in that refurbished MBP. It cannot be installed directly from a Snow Leopard disk.
First you will have to purchase a Snow Leopard DVD.
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
You will need a HDD in an enclosure.
You will have to borrow the use of a Mac that can install Snow Leopard. Connect the external HDD to that Mac and install Snow Leopard on the external HDD with the above disk. Then update it to 10.6.8 via 'Software Update...'.
Then you connect that HDD to your refurbished HDD and clone the OS to the internal HDD (Disk Utility>Restore). You should be ready to go.
Ciao.
This is how I did it on my late 2011 MBP.

Is $1019 a good price?
Can you tell me why you don't think its a good buy? Someone bought it that must have thought it was a good buy? You?!!!
I had a macbook pro, spilled an entire latte on it. Cannot afford to drop another 1500 on a new one. I understand the air is a great machine. And for someone that is hard on equipment (aside from liquid!) with no moving parts its a better option. This one is priced at $929 - good?

I have a 2008? MacBook Pro 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 GB ram. Can I use 2 GB ram from the old machine in a new MacBook Pro 2.2GHz Quad-core Intel i7 ?
/bcVery likely not.
RAM gets improved over time like everything else, so if the RAM is too old it won't be compatible with newer machines.
TO confirm, use Crucial.com and punch in each machine, then read the RAM requirements and specifications, if they match, then your good.
But I'm willing to bet they won't be beause of the age difference between the two machines. -
have a macbook pro 15" late 2011 , with only 4gb of mem , i want tot upgrade for 8 witch one its better

I have a Macbook Pro purchased brand new. I take high quality pictures for customers, these display perfect on my laptop but appear CORRUPT on a USB stick. What is causing this? I can't seem to fix this issue. PLEASE HELP!!
I really need this issue resolved it is driving me insane!!! How can the images appear perfectly fine on my laptop then when transferring over to a USB stick they just corrupt!?Check out this site:
http://osxdaily.com/2012/04/22/format-drive-mac-pc-compatible/
That will show you how to format a USB stick for use on both PC and Mac.
If the problem continues take it to an Apple store and have them check it out.
>Also what s exFAT?<
From:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ExFAT
"exFAT (Extended File Allocation Table) is a Microsoft file system optimized for flash drives.[3] It is proprietary and patented."
That first site explains it at length. -
I have a Mac Pro 4,1 quad core intel Xeon running mac OSX 10.6.8 and I have just moved studios and now need to use the Internet wirelessly but there's no airport facilities on this model can anyone tell me what model of airport card I would need for this mac
Instead of getting a wireless card for the Mac Pro, you might want to consider getting an 802.11ac wireless bridge device that would enable you to connect more than one device to it by Ethernet cable and to eventually take advantage of the faster 802.11ac wireless standard.

Hello,
I have a Macbook Pro 17'', 2.4 GHz Intel Core i7 (late 2011). I dont know what happened but the screen shows red flickering pixels everywhere where it should be black, and light blue pixels where it should be gray, I had this problem twice, the first time it just disappeared by itself. Now it's been like this for days, I have really no clue.
Anyone with the same problem or solution?
This is how it looks like:
ThanxIs that a camera picture or a screen-shot? Is there any difference? i.e., can you capture the problems in a screen shot, or not?

I have a MacBook Pro Retina (2,3 GHz Intel Core i7 - 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 - Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB). I use KompoZer for my website, but after installing OS X Yosemite it doesn't work right (I cannot see images in the website).
It's beta open source software so I'm not surprised. It does't look to be too active a project, so I don't know if it will help or not but you might be maybe better off posting a bug report on their Sourceforge page here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/kompozer/

Can I install Snow Leopard on a MacBook Pro 2.0GHz quad-core Intel i7?
I need to reformat my MacBook Pro 2.0GHz quad-core Intel i7 with OS X Lion with Snow Leopard in order to install Final Cut Pro Studio 2. Does anyone know if this can be done? Thanks in advance!!!
Hi z,
Contact Apple and ask them for the install disc that would have shipped with your machine if Lion had not been released. Others have been successful in obtaining the disc and installing SL. -
How well will a 15.4-inch MacBook Pro 2.0GHz Quad-core Intel i7 work with Final Cut Pro X for video editing 4K

I have a macbook pro w/OS V10.9.5; I've downloaded acrobat reader XI for mac (I've also installed Micrsort office XI for mac). PDF files won't open for reading; videos of granddaughter from daughter's iphone won't play...two separate problems. Help! Not very learned about computer semantics and processing functions.
Regarding the USB, see if zapping the PRAM helps.

I have a macbook pro OS leopard 10.5.8. I've synced it with an iPad 2. I cannot access the cloud because my OS is insufficient. Problem is most of my most- used applications would not work with a too-high system upgrade. I can't afford to upgrade all my apps. I need to know: what would be the least-high system upgrade I can install in order to access the cloud on my new iPad 2?
MAC O.S. 10.5.8 - LEOPARD
MacBookPro
MacBookPro4,1
Intel Core 2 Duo - 2.5 GHz; speed 800 MHz
Quark Express 7.3
Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro
Adobe Photoshop CS 3
Adobe Illustrator CS 3
Adobe InDesign CS 3
Microsoft Office 2008
Extensis Suitcase Fusion 12.1.7
Stuffit 12
Thanx
calico6Define "access the cloud". I can access my iCloud.com account on my 5 year old iMac at work running OS X 10.4.11 Tiger. I can download and upload Word documents and Pages documents in the iWorks section of my iCloud.com account.
What do you want to access in "the cloud"?
Snow Leopard would be your next system upgrade and you should be OK with the CS3 applications, and Office 2008. I cannot confirm that the other applications will work.
This is quite old, but take a look or Google the other applications to see if they are compatible with SL.
