Hi I have Adobe CS4 premium installed on my Mac desktop. It was an upgrade to CS2 Standard. I would like to install it on my new Macbook Pro laptop but nothing happens when I insert either CS disk into the laptop diskdrive. I assume that I need to load CS2 first? But it says that it does not support Power PC ?? So how do I get this software on my Macbook Pro? Thank you.

There is no need to install the Cs2 prior for installing the CS4. You can directly install the CS4.

Install it directly from Adobe. Ensure that you use the uninstaller before installing.

What color management settings? Color mode? This sounds like you are simply not using the proper profile.

You need to have your computer looked at for upgrading and evaluate your third party hardware, software and files.
To fix your issue is too complicated and lengthy to go into all of it here, it will require the services of person very familiar and experienced with Mac's to first recover your data and then restore OS X back to a functional state which may or may not require new hardware/software installed.
You can hire the services of a local Mac computer support technician experienced in these matters.
Have them look at your Wifi security/speed, RAM amount, extra storage and computer backup proceedures in the process.

I have Adobe CS4. No longer have the disc

My discs for Adobe CS4 were stolen, I have the serial number and want to know how to download it to my PC. I did download the first file out of 2. I tried to download the second & I get "the file archive part of CS4 is missing". I've tried to install everything (as best as I know how & I get the message that there isn't enough room on my system. Impossible, it's brand new. Can someone please help me figure this out? I'm not a total idiot, but this is really driving me crazy. I need to get this software downloaded somehow & of course I can't talk to anyone at Adobe, phone support isn't available. I think I need someone to walk me through the whole process from beginning to end.

Adobe CS4 Installation Vista, WONT?

Hello out there whoever reading this, I am new on this forum. :)
I would ask if any of you guys have/had the same problem as me, when I press the exe (installation file) and when i gave premissions to install the program, nothing pop-up how come?
I tried to right click on the exe file & then properties and then under compatibility it says the following:
Drive this program in compatibility for:
Windows XP (Service Pack 2)
BUT THERE IS NOTHIN CALLED Windows Vista (Service Pack 1)
can this be the problem? AND can i fix it?
EDIT there is no "check in the checkbox, it's blank"

Just because you bought your laptop after SP1 came out doesn't mean sp1 is installed.
Easy enough to check though; Go to Start, Control Panel and double click the System icon (might need to use "classic view" to see the system icon) and the window that opens will tell you all you need to know under Windows Edition in the top. If you have SP1, it will say Service Pack 1 under the copyright notice.
If you have SP1 you could still get this error. Just ignore it and the installer will continue (the same happens when you install under Windows 7 Beta, probably because it just can't determine what operating system you are running) but it installs fine anyway.

Adobe CS4 Installation

Collected my new MacPro yesterday from an Apple Store in the West of England. All is fine except for the installation of the CS4 Suite. The installation begins and after a short while the machine completely crashes. (Screen dims from the top slowly as a message says hold down the power button for 2 secs to restart). After a crash machine is often unstable unless shut down. Quark 8.0 and a few other minor apps installed fine. I had to resort to copying the whole Adobe DVD to an external HD on another machine. When I connected this to the MacPro I got it to run fine and install. I had already de-authorised CS4 on the other machine so it was not a Serial No Issue. Would be interested if anyone else has encountered this?

I would not leave a cable hanging, I saw where one LaCie owner had trouble with just such and for now I wouldn't rule out anything until you try with and without.
If you used "RAID" with a 'book, then it was probably just a dual drive case. Not all cases that worked on PowerPC work or work as well on Intel, and then you need to insure it works fine with 10.5.6 too.
As to RAID, describe please. What make PCI controller as those may need new drivers. Recently Sonnet updated theirs for the Tempo E4P and other cards to comply with 10.5.6. They may need to get their hands on and test new Mac Pro 2009.
Apple Hardware Test - Extended will test memory and if it hangs I would definitely be wary and look to replace/exchange. And run Memtest / Rember to give it a workout - make sure those tests are reliable and work with DDR3 ECC of course.
Freezes on wake from sleep can be due to any 3rd party device that does not comply. Was there something you used on an earlier Mac? which one?
A mirror RAID is not a substitute for having a minimum two backup sets, it is fine for one of your backups, but you still need an alternate. And what if the RAID goes.

Adobe does sell Mac and Windows versions of their software. Depending upon which copy you buy, you may get both media in the same box. From my experience reading the Adobe License Agreements though, they technically don't allow you to install the same license on both OSes, they require you to purchase a separate license for the second OS. I do know some people who have actually installed the same license on Windows and Mac, and Adobe hasn't hunted them down, nor disabled their software, but I do not believe that the older license allow for that.

Adobe CS4 crash with Cintiq 13hd

Hi guys, I have Adobe CS4 on a dell laptop, which runs windows 7 (64bit). I have been using this program with a Wacom bambo and an intruos 4 for many years without a problem. Today however I upgraded to a new Cintiq 13. I installed the lastest driver and it all seemed to go well. However, I now start photoshop and get the usual loading screen but now it stops at initalizing and windows pops up informing me that the program has stopped working and needs to close. Anybody have any ideas? I am not very computer savy so wanted advice before I started mucking around.

If I update to Lion from 10.6.8, will Adobe CS4 "upgrade" work?????

I have Adobe CS4 from an "upgrade". Will these adobe programs work if I upgrade to Lion? Please, need an answer ASAP, so I know whether to make my next computer a Mac or a PC!!!! It is absolutely ridiculous that my friend, who has at least 8 PC computers ( including business computers) is able to use all features of icloud using Win7(which is 16 months old), and I cannot use it on my "Apple" antique using 10.6.8(which is only 9 months old) (2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) for the same purpose.
I have never even had a PC, always an Apple product. Now I get slapped in the face, HARD. Apple just killed me for EVER buying another Apple computer, if I am unable to use ICloud with my computers which WILL run my adobe products. I also have an IMac Intel Core duo 3.06, two IPads and a new Iphone. and now I am done with Apple products I guess, if I have to update to Lion to use ICloud with a computer. Especially if Lion doesn't support my current expensive suite of CS4(UPGRADE), and other Apps. What on earth is Apple trying to do, phase out of computers totally? Have a relative who works for Apple, and no one can figure out why the company is so favoring the PC people. The only thing I can come up with is that Win7 is a far superior program to OS10.6.8, and is likely vastly superior to the current joke of "Lion", and the upcoming "Mountain Lion". At least Snow Leopards have some dignity, and honesty in their "live" form. "Lion" is aptly named after an animal widely known for killing and eating cubs of its own species. Mountain Lions are sneaky, creepy stalkers, who attack suddenly without notice, and kill animals off efficiently and quickly. Male Mt.Lions also are known to kill the young of their own species, even their own cubs. I guess these new OS's are aptly named, as they certainly are killing off those who have been faithful to Apple for so long.
I can buy a PC running Win 7, with the speed, programs, etc., that I need, for far less than a new, comparable Mac, which it seems will require me to purchase all new expensive Apps. (Adobe CS+), etc.
Why is Apple unable to either 1) offer its previously totally faithful adherants the ability to use its ICloud service using 10.6.8, which only came out 9 months ago (while Win 7 and Vista users can use the service easily), or at least make its new OS, work with expensive Apps owned by people, which work on 10.6.8, but will not work, so I hear, on "Lion" (and presumably not on "Mountain Lion" either).   Apple is/has turned into a predator of the worst sort, without a single thought or care about previously faithful customers.   WHY?
Also, off my wagon and back to my question; will an "UPGRADE" of Adobe CS4 work with the latest updated "Lion"? Thanks!

I went to that page. Basically, it didn't specifically answer my question, or I am too dense to find the answer. I understand that there are a few problems with Photoshop, which is the main use (of mine). I could live with what it says. I also found that there were problems with CS4, and using the brush tool, when I updated to 10.6.8. Found a fix to that by updating my Quicktime. Why that works, I have no idea. I am not a computer whiz, in fact at the other end of the spector, but read on a discussion that this updating of Quicktime worked, so tried it, and it did!
This community is a life saver for me. I live in rural Wyoming (I guess all of Wyoming is rural.....) and no one knows anything about Macs. All my problems have been solved by you great people! And I thank you !
My present concern is: I read somewhere else, that if my version of Photoshop, which is CS4, was purchased as an "upgrade", which it was, then maybe it will not upload to "Lion", as maybe the disk (upgrade), I have, may use Rosetta, which is NOT included in "Lion".   What I have read is that I would have to have a "new" (not an upgrade) version of CS4 in order for it to work with "Lion".   Anyone out there know the answer???? Photoshop users?????

I love my Macs, but really am irritated that the friends I have tried to talk into buying Mac computers, but didn't, now can enjoy all the advantages of ICloud, with an older version of their computer program (Win 7 OR(!!!) Adobe cs4 not working due to error 148:3

I have adobe cs4 and i can't launch the program or uninstall it, and every time I try to launch the program, it is showing me an Error named: Error 148:3, and also saying that liscensing for the product has stopped, please help!!!

Trouble with Adobe Reader Installation

I am trying to download Adobe Reader. After I click Install Now, it directs me to go to my download file and double click on Adobe Reader Installer to continue. I don't know where to find this. I don't have Adobe Reader Installer in my download file. Please advise.

Adobe CS4 and Canon Scanner LiDE35

I have Adobe CS4 and a Canon LiDE35 scanner. (Mac OS X 10.5.6)
Although I've downloaded the latest scanner driver from Canon, the scanner is unrecognized in, for example, CS4's Photoshop.
I have a temporary work-around: Haven't yet uninstalled the CS2 that CS4 replaced. Looks like I can scan into CS2, save, close, and reopen in CS4.
Anybody know how to get this scanner to play well with CS4?

Yep, plus the Canon "toolbox" was handy for other scanner uses, too. (Faxing, copying, etc.)
I deleted the latest Canon Toolbox software and reinstalled the older toolbox that came on disc with the scanner. It works fine with Mac OS X 10.5.6. Strange that the newer TB doesn't.
I'll give Canon an "A" for effort in the customer service department, though. Direct emails from me have been replied to promptly and personally.
The only suggestion I haven't tried that Canon suggests is moving the scanner connection from a USB hub directly to the computer.
Might check out VueScan anyway.
