Hi I have an iphone 4 32gb requireds activation from some unknown apple id

I own a iphone 4 , which was working fine till now and after formatting the phone requires activation from an apple id which doesn't belong to me. I was using the apple id and even have back up of the phone but the phone now needs apple id which is not mine.

Like ckuan said, Apple does not unlock iPhone; your carrier does, provided that the carrier offers this service.
Unfortunately, SoftBank does not offer authorized unlocking of iPhone.
Your best option is to sell this phone and buy another iPhone from the carrier of your choice or better buy a factory unlocked iPhone so you would be able to use it with any compatible GSM carrier around the world.

It goes on syncing forever, without actually doing anything. I have tried everything, wiped the phone numerous times, deleted all files from the laptop but still no resolution. As a result, the phone does not really synchronise.
This started somewhere in May 2011 when I upgraded what proved to be a problematic s/w version and the phone has not recovered since.
Now I cannot update the iPhone s/w any longer.
Any clue?

You may have to try deleting all the music from your phone (by going to Settings>General>Usage>Music, swipping All Music and tapping Delete), then sync it all back on with iTunes in order to fix this.

I could do that, however when I select the icloud button (or whatever the heck it is) I am asked to enter the apple id and password. So if you are suppose to create another one for icloud you'd think it would give you the option at this point which would be logical.

YES, that is the free 5GB icloud memory for each apple ID. Can I not add the free 5Gb of my second Iphone to my original apple ID (5GB also) as I want to use one Apple ID name on both 2 Iphones? When syncing the iPhone and iPad with iTunes on your computer that is logged in with the Apple ID you plan on using on all three, the Apple ID should be transferred to the iPhone and iPad for the iTunes & App Stores on each device. If not, you'll need to sign out of the existing Apple ID on the iPhone and iPad followed by signing in with the Apple ID you want to use on both.
Keep in mind that all 3rd party apps include DRM protection which is tied to the iTunes account or Apple ID that was used to download the apps. With an app installed on your iPad and iPhone that was downloaded with a different Apple ID from the one you will be using now, you will need to use that Apple ID and password to install app updates for those apps. Not possible to transfer apps purchased with one Apple ID to another or to merge Apple IDs.

you could try forcing it into recovery mode by turning it off, hold the home button and plug it into iTunes at the same time, keep holding the home button until iTunes says its detected a device that needs to be updated or restored. Then restore.

You can send and receive Messages from the Apple IDs and phone numbers signed in to your iMessage section in the settings of your phone. We have an article that explains a little bit about this, and it can be found here:

You can change the address that new iMessage conversations are started with in Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > Start new conversations from:. Note that this setting applies only to new conversations. If you would like to change the address from which messages are sent, first change this setting, and then delete the existing conversation and start a new one.
iMessage responses will be sent from the address the recipient most recently messaged. For example, a friend sends you a message to your Apple ID. Responses in this conversation will be sent from your Apple ID, even if you've selected new conversations to start from your phone number.

I went into the cloud on phone it was on. Turned off and back on. Now i have 6 of one contactDeleted face books also incase that was the issue. Only the wireless provider that the iPhone is locked to can unlock it.
Contact them to see if they offer unlocking and if you qualify.
