Hi i have an iphone 4s w/c is under contract w/ verizon.  i will be traveling to the philippines tomorrow so i called them 2 weeks ago and requested to unlock it for me.  will the sim card in the phils. work in my 4s?

Hi, i have an iphone 4s w/c is under contract w/ verizon.  I will be traveling to the Phils. so i called and asked verizon to unlock it for me which they did.  What sim card do i use in the Phils. that support 4s?  Also how can i make sure that i wont be charged for roaming when i am out of the country??  Thanks!

Thanks for the info.  I do not want to pay a lot of money for roaming services that's why i had it unlocked.  Just wondering how the micro-sim works.  I guess i have to research for a specific micro sim in the phils that supports the 4s here in US.  Appreciate your time answering my question.

  • I downloaded Mountain Lion a few weeks ago and ever since, as I'm reading e-mail or anything actually, the screen shifts, like a nervous tick, and during that few seconds it's frozen.  Nothing responds. Can this be corrected?

I downloaded Mountain Lion a few weeks ago.  Almost immediately I noticed that there was an issue.  Every few minutes the screen or page I have open, e-mail, Facebook etc. will start to "jiggle" side to side.  Like a nervous tick. During the few seconds it's doing that nothing else responds, it freezes my mouse etc.  I guess I was hoping it would go away!  Everything else is working just fine, and it never did this until I updated to Mountain Lion.  Can this be fixed?

It is probably some incompatible 3rd party software.

  • My iMAC has begun to black out on occasion. It will be 3 years old in August of this year and I'm concerned it may be in serious trouble. I took it to the Apple store/Genious bar a few weeks ago and was told it was okay but to make sure my data is secure.

I'm searching for responses from iMAC owners who have had the same problem?

  • Hello my sister game me her iphone 4S and when i tried to use it with my sim card it doesn't work and it says searching... and No service! How can i fix this? thank you

hello i have a problem. my iphone 4s which my sister gave as a present i put my card in and i cannot get sign ,its vodafone card. It say searching...No service! I can only use it for the internet. How can i fix it? Thank you

Sounds like the iPhone is locked to another wireless provider.
Have your sister contact her wireless provider to see if they
offer unlocking and if she qualifies.
Have you tried to activate the iPhone to your iTunes account?
What happened? If there is an error message, what is the exact
    wording?

  • The new iPad with 4g does it have to have a sim card in the slot for it to work so sometimes i can have4g and sometimes i cant

the new iPad with 4g does it have to have a sim card in the slot for it to work so sometimes i can have4g and sometimes i cant

For it to work(iPad) no. You do have to have it in to get data when your not connected to wifi. If it doesn't say 4g all the time that is because of the location your in. If your connected to wifi, the iPad will use the wifi connection first before using your data plan.

  • HT1688 I have a damaged I-Phone and I need the contents of my calendar off of it. I did not have Mobile me at the time.  Can I swap out the sim card from the broken phone to a new phone and recover this calendar?

I have an older I-Phone (3G) that for some reason the body of the phone has split in two.  This phone was a business phone and it had a lot of important information on it. I have a second phone that is also a 3G.  On the broken phone there is a lot of important information that I need in my calendar. Im not worried about anything else but the calendar.  I didn't have the Mobile Me account at that time or I would be having this problem. Does anybody know if I can ust switch out the sim cards. I just need to recover the old calendar, so im hoping that the calendar will transfer when I switch the sim card into the good 3G. If that doesn't work does anybody know of anyway that I can retrieve this information off of this phone?

Nothing is stored on the sim card on an iPhone.  If you backed up to your computer the backup will contain your calendar events.  Otherwise, if your phone isn't functioning there is no way to back up or extract your calendar at this point.

  • My new iphone 4  wont power on does the battery have to charge first? It was shipped thru mail and took 7days to get here.I managed to turn it on once and shut it of because i had to put sim card in.Now it wont power on.

I tried holding down both buttons like everyone said and this doesnt work. My phone was shipped new from Ontario to Sask and took about a week to get here,Could it be because my battery is so low? And shouldnt it power on when it's plugged in or show a phone charging icon or have some lite on? My laptop won't even discover it when I plug it in. When I first took it out of the box i called virgin mobile. The lady told me to put sim card in because it did turn on at first and was asking for sim card so i put it in and all kinds of languages were displayed so i clicked on english and then then somehow shut the phone off because i wasnt familiar with it yet i have no idea how i shut it off.Anyway, I read a bit further and saw where the power button was and tried to turn it back on. No luck the apple logo appears with what looks like a hairline crack on the apple itself and a very thin blue bar no thicker than a pen stroke its about halfway right behind the apple logo like its going to power on but it doesnt, it just goes black. Then when I hold the 2 buttons down, the home button and the power button at the same time, the apple logo flahes on about every 3or4 seconds as tho its going to turn on but it doesnt, occasionally the bar comes up with the logo but not every time. What can I do? Will it work if I let it charge for a couple hours? Does it need a couple hrs and shud there at least be a charging icon showing me its charging?? I have it hooked up by USB to my laptop charging. My computer and Itunes doesnt even acknowledge its even there. PLEASE HELP? Thanks so much!

Plug your phone into the wall charger for at least 30 minutes...make sure you have a sim card in the phone...then:
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, iTunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new.
Make sure you have no anti-virus software running or any firewalls...turn all of that stuff off.

    Hello, no ice.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
As long as you purchase the GSM model and acquire a Nano-SIM card, you should be able to use your iPad abroad.  Here is some information about this process that you may find helpful.

  • IPhone 4S fell on some water, was working but now won't work. I got a replacement coming. Can I use the old Sim card in the new phone if it wasn't damaged? Will I get my pictures and contacts and messages back if it wasn't damaged?

My iPhone 4S accidentally fell into a very shallow bit of water. The phone was wet, but worked afterwards for a short bit. Now it's not working, so I called and got a replacement phone coming. Same exact phone. Can I use the old Sim card in the new phone without harming anything? I don't know if the sim card got messed up or not, but I had a lot of pictures and messages and my contacts on my phone, and I assume these were on the sim card or am I wrong? I just wan to know if I can use the old sim card if it's still working in the new phone that is coming, as long as there was no damage to it? Thanks

I think I had it on the iCloud, I just changed computers and had part of my old computer backed up, where are the default iTunes info saved like the pictures and I know my contacts were backed up cuz I kept getting updated stuff that I wasn't sure about, but it was contacts where some belonged to my wife's contacts....but anyway, if the cloud backed up contacts, it should have grabbed pictures too? Like I asked before, if they were backed up to the computer, is there a default iTunes folder they are saved to? I had a crap load of pictures on there that I usually could really access if I was connected to wi-fi. I turned off my data stuff as I only have 4GB and between me and my 2 kids, we seemed to use up a lot of it. My son would play music from Pandora during work, and use up all our data til I limited him to only 3GB, my daughter and I barely used 1GB. Anyway, thanks to everybody that is answering. I thought I might have done good finding the dang sim card, but pointless I guess.
Ralph - F.Y.I. I would be happy to back up the iPhone if I could turn it on LOL......I am pretty positive I did, but what about Text messages? ANY of those saved too or not? Sorry guys, I don't know a **** of a lot about cell phones, but I do know about memory cards, but not sim cards that act like memory cards or look like them anyway. What is the purpose of a sim card if I may ask a stupid question since they don't hold any data from my phone stuff. I just hope my stuff comes back on the new replacement phone once I get it up and running. Again, thanks to everybody for the edumucation.

A Verizon corporate store can provide you with a nano SIM and activate it for you. Corporate stores do not charge for SIMS. I don't know what a reseller might or might not do.

    Hey NicolasZen,
Thanks for the question and welcome to the Apple Support Communities. I understand that you are experiencing issues with “No Service” or “Searching” on your iPhone. The following resource provides some great troubleshooting steps that you may wish to try:
    iPhone: Troubleshooting No Service
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4429
Your iPhone may have one of these symptoms:
    - iPhone displays "No Service" or "Searching" in an area of good coverage
    - iPhone doesn't regain service when returning to an area of coverage
    Resolution
If you encounter either of the above symptoms on your iPhone, follow these steps to attempt to resolve the issue. Test after each step.
    1. Toggle airplane mode: Tap Settings > Enable Airplane Mode, wait five seconds, then turn off airplane mode.
    2. Turn iPhone off and then on again.
    3. Remove the SIM card and verify that it's a valid, carrier-manufactured SIM. Also verify that it isn't damaged, worn, or modified. Then reinsert it.
    4. Check for a carrier-settings update. Connect to a Wi-Fi network. Then tap Settings > General > About. If an update is available, iOS will ask you if you want to install it. If Wi-Fi isn't available, connect your device to iTunes.
    5. Update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS.
    6. Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This will reset all network settings, including Bluetooth pairing records, Wi-Fi passwords, VPN, and APN settings.
    7. Restore the iPhone.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

    thanks

iPhones require a SIM card for activation, regardless of whether it is being used as an iPhone or an iPod.
Put a SIM in the device for the carrier it is locked to and activate it.  The SIM can then be left it it or removed.
