Just today i installed Windows 7 Professional 64bit, but I have been having quite a bit of trouble. I am on my new MBP 2011 MacBook Pro 13 inches with the 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5.
First things first. I arrived at my friends house today having just gotten my DVDs to copy over my online bought copy of windows which I had to download on my PC because the download manager was an .exe file. I installed windows with no problems after having burned it to the DVD. Next up was the drivers, but I have forgotten the DVD with the drivers at home. I went online and managed to find the needed drivers, 3.0, 3.1 and 3.2. At first I got the error that I have seen so many get, saying that the software ins't compatible with the hardware. Also I could not use the regular install file, so I looked on google to find that I had to locate the BootCamp64.msi file, and I managed to install the updates through this.
Now my question lies unanswered to me, yet I am sure there is a logical and simple solution. When I open up programs within the control panel I see a ton of updates at my exposal, but none seem to be activated. I can't get on wi-fi and windows keeps telling me that I am missing device drivers. So having installed the drivers, they do not seem to activate. This seems like something easy to solve, and maybe it is, but I need help for this one as I couldn't find anyone having the same issue.

Can not get on line with new notebook

can not get on line. *we have verizon, *bought new router to see if that was problem. *bought airport express to see if that would help, *my son, bs in computer security, has spent days starting over redoing, *we used his dell notebook to go to apple site (what's wrong with that picture?) it did work for awhile, wanted me to start time machine, but would go on line thru safari? says ethernet cables not connected - he tried 2 different ones. i'm at the point of taking this piece of #$@% back to best buy.

Whoa, slow down. It's hard to understand exactly what's going on when you've explained your issue so unclearly.
Please describe exactly what network setup you have at the moment - you have Verizon DSL? What router are you using, are you wired or wireless, how is the Macbook connected to the network, how are your other computer(s) connected to the network? Let's take it step by step and I'm sure we can find out what's going on.

I can NOT get on Line with Firefox at all, just IE

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac.

Can not get on-lin with pppoe

i've set up ax with both admin utility and setup asst. to use pppoe... i still can not get on-line... it keeps looking for pppoe...
there is no place to input a password for the pppoe account. wondering if this is the cause of no connection to the internet...
mac's networking is set to airport using dhcp...
is this the right set up?

after the account name input there is button "Change password..." is this account passward function or is this the ax password change function... a little bit confusing.

Can't get on-line with Airport Extreem

Hi all,
this is my first post on this forum. I have tried to set-up a wired network using Airport Extreme between a Mac Mini and a G5 1.8 Dual. I was able to see each computer over the network but I could not get internet access.
I tried the unplug every thing route but that did not help. I am hooked up to the internet through a cable modem and can get to the internet without using the Airport Extreme going straight to the ethernet connection on the back of the computers.
What am I doing wrong?

Well now I can get on-line on the Mac Mini (the computer used to configure the Airport Extreme) but I still can't get on-line on the G5.

How to install Boot Camp on Win/XP SP3?

Is Boot Camp even supported on SP3? I can't run the BC that's on the Leopard install DVD (blue screen of death), nor can I run the BCUpdateXP.exe on Apple's website (doesn't launch). I've looked at the other threads here but none addresses this issue. My Win/XP DVD is a new one with SP3 already on it. Could this be the problem, you have to go SP2 -> BC -> SP3?

If you pop Leopard disc in while running XP SP3 and it crashes, then you have:
BSOD: they seem to be due to: driver issue; ram issue; possibly even hard drive bad blocks. Or, there really are differences in XP SP3 CDs, some work, some don't.
BC 2.1 was suppose to "help" was all. If your copy of Leopard, or your Mac, came out in the last 6 months, or since 10.5.4, you don't really even need BC 2.1. Obviously you have to be running Windows to run or install any .exe update etc. What is on Apple web site is standalone but only runs AFTER or when it sees that 2.0x already exists. It is an update-only.
You could try doing chkdsk and memory test from XP.
Roll back drivers, restore from last known good check point, and boot from XP CD and run system repair.

I have had to change my email address/Apple ID. my iPad recognisIes the change of id but on my MacBook Air, iCloud just keeps asking me for a password for the old email address/account. How can I get iCloud to recognise the new details? Help please!

Go to System Preferences and click Sign Out, select Delete at all the prompts, then sign back in with the changed ID? (Your iCloud data will disappear from your Mac when you sign out and choose Delete, but will still be in iCloud. Provided you are signing back into the same account your data will reappear on your Mac when you sign back in.)

In syncing my Iphone 3GS to my computer, it lost all of my contact detail info. I do get numbers but with no name associated. I also did get emails. Its a mess now. Help please???

Unable to install Boot Camp 3.1 on Win 7 on iMac Intel (suggestions?)

I got the OEM version of Windows 7, professional and 64 bits, and installed it via Boot Camp Assistant. Got it running (no keyboard recognition), and tried to install Boot Camp for Win 7 via the Apple site:
"Unable to install 3.1, needs 3.0".
No problem, insert OSX disk (10.6.3), click, aaand:
"Boot Camp 64bit is not supported on this model"
Uh?,... I thought that my machine was supported (it's running Win7 64bits!),... any suggestions?. Am I doing something wrong?. Any help will be appreciated.

Unfortunately I cannot answer your question but I'm hoping someone can help us. I went a step further than you. I have an iMac 8.1 Intel Core 2Duo 2.8 GHZ Processor (early 2008). I spoke with Apple Customer Support and made it clear that I had Windows 32 bit and 64 bit software and wanted to install on my iMac and MBP. The agent told me to order Snow Leopard for the iMac. I found out tonight I cannot use 64 bit on this particular iMac even though Customer Support had the serial number and data when we ordered the Snow Leopard disc.
So, I partitioned the HD equally between Mac and Windows. Boot Camp installed Windows 7 with no problem and then encountered the same thing you did. Install Boot Camp 3.0 before 3.1. When I put the brand new Mac OS X Snow Leopard from Apple in the iMac it said 'not supported'. I tried to install but it won't.
Funnything is Win 7 seems to be running. I am having problems with the numeric keyboard on the UBS keyboard. I haven't really tried to do too much.
My question to append to yours is how do I go about uninstalling Windows 7 and installing Windows 7 32 bit?
I'm sick about this but at least I believe I can install the 64 bit on my current MBP. I wanted it on both my computers.

Internal Microphone doesn't work (after installing Boot Camp 3.1)

I have installed Boot Camp 3.1, and after this installation, my internal mic doesn't work (ONLY IN WINDOWS XP).
I tried to fix the problem with several manners (hardware test in CONTROL PANEL / SOUND .../ VOICE TAB / VOICE RECORDING; reinstalling drivers and hardware etc), but I can't get success (for example, the test results: SORRY, NO SOUND IN MIC...).
On the other hand, when I boot as Mac (Snow Leopard), I can use the mic (in skype, for example), without problem.
I note that ear plug (connector in the back of the iMac) doesn't work too.
Somebody can help me in this case ?

i got a macbook pro, 2 weeks ago, the 2.53Ghz unibody aluminium, the desing of this mac is great even tough the system specs are really low for the price actually, im happy with it(the hardware)...
The only reason i got this is cause apple claims to support windows, i like Mac OS, but i work on windows i need it... if theres no windows capability in mac i wouldnt ever buy one, so this issue is really bothering me A LOT. my impresions about apple are changing after seing this topic filled with questions and not a single moderator answer, go and check a logitech forum and see how they take care about user problems.

How to install Boot Camp 3.1?

I would like to install Boot Camp 3.1 which I can download from the Apple Download page. But when executing the exe file on the Windows Partition it tells me I need to install Boot Camp 3.0 first. But there is now download available for Boot Camp 3.0. The Apple Software Update Utility does not show it as well so I am stuck here.
Does anybody know how to perform this upgrade?
