For "Could not open key/write value" errors when reinstalling try b noir's user tip:
"Could not open key: UNKNOWN\Components\[LongStringOfLettersAndNumbers]\
[LongStringOfLettersAndNumbers]" error messages when installing iTunes for Windows.
The technique can be applied to the branch of the registry mentioned in the error message.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

Can anyone help? I have been trying to install the new version of Itunes for ages my new iphone wont activate on the old version!! Keep getting the same error message - Hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run - Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.
Please Help!!!!!That particular key can sometimes be hit by malware, liam, so just to be on the safe side I think we should try a malware scan first.
Try downloading and installing the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware. Update your MBAM definitions and then run a full scan of the PC. (Takes about 2 hour on my Lenovo.)
http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
Does the scan find any infections? If so, please paste the contents of the log file for the scan in a reply here so we can have a look -

I'm getting this error while installing client on server 2008 Sp1 box.
Steps i tried:
1.I did try manually registering oringinally but when the client fails to install, it removes all the source files including the ccmcore.dll. So, ccmcore.dll doesn't reside on the system after failing to install the client or at least not that
I can see.
2. I have tried timing it just right so that my "regsvr32 ccmcore.dll" is run during the install process while the file is in the CCM folder but that didnt work either.
3. I had manually created the directory CCM\x64\ccmcore.dll and copied the file from a working client and try to register but it gave me an error " Failed to load .dll"
4. i have tried uninstalling the client from ccmclean as well but no luck.
I'm running SCCM 2007 Sp2 native mode and trying to manaully install the client.
Please help?*complete...

Hi Rick,
by "repair" I mean I went to the control panel, option - programs and features, and in the list of all my installed programs I selected "Apple Software Update". On top of the screen you find the options Uinstall, Change and Repair. I clicked the repair button and that did the trick. After the repair I could uninstall the program. I also uninstalled iTunes, Apple Application Support, Apple Mobile Device Support en Bonjour, thus all Apple programs. Then I installed iTunes 10.5 again and everything went fine.
Success,

Hi. ITunes 11 dont install my pc.. Problem: "There is a problem with this windows installer package. A problem required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor." Please help me.
Repair your Apple software Update.
Go to START/ALL PROGRAMS/Apple Software Update. If it offers you a newer version of Apple Software Update, do it but Deselect any other software offered at the same time. Once done, try another iTunes install
If you don't find ASU in All programs, go to control panel/
XP- add n remove Programs/highlight ASU, CHANGE then REPAIR.
Vista or Win7 - Programs n features/highlight ASU and click REPAIR -
5, it says, "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor." I have Windows XP and I need help.
After reading all these posts, one by one did not resolve my problem until I got the very end. Regardless of what step would resolve your problem, these are the steps I would recomment to everyone for a what seems to be a safe and fool-proof upgrade to iTunes 10.5.
1. Stand alone upgrade to the latest Quicktime version
2. Go to control panel and "change" then select repair to the following applications in the order specified by the post on Oct 27. (Notice I skipped Quicktime because it had been upgrade manually, and Bonjour did not have a "repair" option)
iTunes; Apple Software Update: Mobile Device Support; Apple Applications Support
Some of these applications may not appear if they do not apply to your configuration (no iPhone, or no iPad, or other apple devices).
Once all updated, I did not need to restart nor launch any applications, I simply went straight into the 10.5 upgrade, and where it normally got stuck, this time the installation continued for a while longer until it completed successfully.
Great work everyone who contributed! Thank you very much! -
I got the iPod touch, when i went to connect it to my computer to upload my music to it, It said that I need to upgrade to 10.5 but when I did I got the message below. So I tried uninstalling itunes and quick time and I cant download it at all and still get the message below. I have NO itunes on my computer now. =(
The message I get is::
There is a problem with the Window installer package. A program required for this intall to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package venfor.
I have no idea what this message means or what to do....There is a problem with the Window installer package. A program required for this intall to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package venfor.
Perhaps let's first try updating your Apple Software Update.
Launch Apple Software Update ("Start > All Programs > Apple Software Update"). Does it launch and offer you a newer version of Apple Software Update? If so, choose to install just that update to Apple Software Update. (Deselect any other software offered at the same time.)
If the ASU update goes through okay, try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the errors this time? -
Could not write value Content Type problem when installing itunes 08. help!
When I tried to update itunes 08 there was an error. Instead, I uninstalled and downloaded the itunes8 setup. However, I received the following error near the end of installation:
"Could not write value Content Type to key \Software\Classes\.aif. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.
Abort...........Retry............Ignore"
Retry/ignore doesn't work and aborting stops installing. How do I deal with this problem.
