I'd suggest metalink and opening an SR.
If you didn't follow the docs ... rm -rf would be a good place to start. -

Errors during Oracle 11gR2 Installation on Ubuntu
Hello everyone,
I known that Ubuntu ( and i'm talking about 10.04 or his latest version) is not the official version of OS for Oracle, but I'm trying do to a different work with students and they are more familiar with Ubuntu interface, but, when i'm trying to do Oracle installation on Ubuntu machine, i'm getting different kind of errors and i can't successfully finalize the installation. The list below show libs who OUI "complains" during the instalation, even every lib already installed and a list of prerequisites that are failed and will be show on the screen.
Please, can anyone help me with this steps. Sombody have some guide for this kind of instalation. The instalation on Ubuntu is a prerequisites
Erros will be show at the end of installation:
"Error in invoking target 'idg4odbc' of makefile '/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/rdbms/lib/ins_rdbms.mk'."
"Error in invoking target 'idg4odbc' of makefile '/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/rdbms/lib/ins_rdbms.mk'."

"Error in invoking target 'utilities' of makefile '/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/rdbms/lib/ins_rdbms.mk'."
Libs required for OUI but already installed:

unixODBC-devel-2.2.11As you stated, Ubuntu is not a certified distro for Oracle installs - so errors should be expected. Google for sites (like http://www.pythian.com/blog/installing-oracle-11gr2-enterprise-edition-on-ubuntu-10-04-lucid-lynx/) where others have documented their experiences. Also, just because you are able to install the software successfully does not mean it will work as advertised.

In Workflow 2.6.2, you can load BES seed data using the wfxload command line utility. It is documented in the Workflow Guide.

Error during oracle 10g installation
HI
During oracle10g installlation on windows vista os
Enter prise manager configuration failed due to the error :starting starting database control refer to the log file at c:\product\10.2.0\db_1\cfgtoollogs\dbca\dbtest\emconfig.log
u can retry configuration this database with enterprise manager later by manually running c:\ora\product\10.2.0\db_1\bin\emcaWindows and Unix (in general) are different from the point of view that on windows platforms no relink operations are required, since the install media has the already compiled and linked executables and dll's required. On the unix like platforms, the story is different, relinking is required to create executables, since the install media has the object files. Makefiles are included to perform the relink operation and the relinking is nothing else but recreate executable images. If you were required to relink, probably it's because during install phase something went wrong and there were no relinked executables that made your working environment fail.
In this case, on the windows platform, this problem looks like a configuration issue.

Dear friends
I have one strange error in Oracle 8.1.7 , Windows NT server. We have 4 databases in a same box. All are working fine till yesterday. Today morning I am facing this problem. I can not connect to one database out of four from any client. Getting error "ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist"
Other 3 databases in the same server I can connect from client.
In the server I can connect all four databases without any problem.
I am using tnsping <servicename> from the client, is getting OK.
I Observed the tnsnames.ora in the client , nothing found strange. Because all client machines have this problem.
Pleas advise?I did both your suggestions
First of all all clients are working properly till yesterday without any problem. Today I faced this problem in all clients around 10 clients same time. I feel it is may be Host machine database /network setting problem. How we can trace?
When I restart Listner using lsnrctl command in server , then I can connect from client using SQLplus but a while only. When I Establish another connection in the same client or from any other client, it won't allow me. Also , connected session getting error.
When I issue lsnrctl status command in server it is displaying like this. Maxnew is the one that have problem.
lsnrctl> status

Oracle 10g Installation issue on Windows 7
Hi,
I tried to install Oracle 10g downloaded from the below link on my laptop which runs in Windows 7.
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/10204-winx64-vista-win2k8-082253.html
The Oracle version is 10g release 2 for windows 7. I got this DB version no. for Windows 7 from this forum only. But still, I got the error message stated below and unable to install 10g.
------------------------------------------------------ Error --------------------------------------------------------------------------
Starting Oracle Universal Installer...
Checking installer requirements...
Checking operating system version: must be 5.0, 5.1, 5.2 or 6.0 . Actual 6.1

Please press Enter to exit...
------------------------------------------------------ Error End -------------------------------------------------------------------
Could you please let me know how I can fix this issue? Or is there any other oracle 10g release/patch to fix this issue? I need to install only Oracle 10g and not 11g.
Also, I need to install Oracle Forms 10g too.
It would be great if you could guide me on installing these two softwares in my laptop.
Your help will be very much appreciated.
Thanks,
Arun

This issue has been discussed many times before. Pl use the search feature. The only versions supported in Win 7 (Professional or higher) are 10.2.0.5 and 11gR2. 10.2.0.5 is only available on My Oracle Support, while 11gR2 can be downloaded for free from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/index.html
