I have never used this--on my ipad it says I have an account with icloud and that I can syn all my devices but there is no app for icloud on my ipad.
I have never used my ipod myself--that is to put material on it. A friend did it and I registered with Apple and I did have itunes and a list of my stuff on my old pc but it is gone. I tried to get itunes on the pc I have--no sucess--5 + attempts yesterday. Today I tried to link my ipod to icloud. In the "settings" heading I do not have a "software" choice. I have tried as you suggested, and when opening the "purchased" apps some have the icloud logo next to them, but I only have "OPEN" against "Find My iPhone". When opening it up, it goes through the same routine; needs to be updated before proceeding, and wouldn't update because I don't have IOS8.

If it's a G3, no further upgrades are available.
If it's a G4 or G5, buy a retail Mac OS X 10.5 DVD from a source such as Amazon or eBay; Apple still might have copies in stock if you phone them.
If it's an Intel Mac, buy a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD from the online Apple Store.

is see is a green screeen with lines in it. anything else i can see but not HD.
It was not a pdf file but a video. also i tried to watch a hd live streaming on the masters 2013 and same thing happens. green screeen

ThxiOS 4.2.1 is the latest and last version for the 2nd-generation iPod touch. If iTunes isn't showing any further updates for your iPod, I'm guessing that's the model you have. You can confirm here:

I think this is rather complicated and I really need some help. I am the pastor of the church and we have the enterprise system. We use an exchange server if that means anything. I began with an iPhone 4 that connects with our system. And now I have to iPads. One of the iPads is registered in my name and the other in my wife's.
I'm confused as to how to update to IOS 5. Do I keep my password is the same for both my wife's and my iPad?
Also because we are on the enterprise system, my notes from Outlook do not wirelessly connect from my work computer to my iPhone and to my iPad. I have been told that they have not worked this out yet. Will this change with the new operating system?

Hello, I have ipad version 1 (3yrs old) and I am still running on i.os.5.1.1.
How can I update to new software as I am unable to run some apps.
Itunes is up to date and I have synced but when I click on software is says my software is up to date but mu iphone is running on a newer version?

You cannot update it if you can't get the latest version of iTunes. Actually, the latest version of iTunes will run in XP if you have Service Pack 2. Also, you posted in the iPad forum, and your profile shows you have an iPad, but in your post, you say it is an iPod. Is it an iPad or an iPod?

iOS 4.2.1 suggests that you may have 2nd generation Touch, which cannot be updated past iOS 4.2.1
Check http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353 for help in identifying your model. A quicker method may be to check the back casing. If your iPod has Model No.A 1288 etched into it, then it's a 2nd gen Touch.
Assuming that you are using the latest version of iTunes (today, that is 10.6.3), to check if your iPod can be updated, connect it to your iTunes and look on the Device/Summary pane. Select Check for Updates. If there is one, you will see a message telling you that and how to install it. However, if you see a message saying that your iPod is up-to-date, then it cannot be updated. -
