Hi I have the old photo shop elements 10 on my computer and want to update and was wondering what the differences between photoshop, lightroom and photoshop elements are?
Also when I upgrade does it have to be with a monthly membership or can I just purchase the product out right like you use to be able?

You cannot "update" from what you have to any of the applications you mention. It will have to be a straight purchase or subscription at full price.
Photoshop is a professional level application that makes no apologies for its very long and steep learning curve.
Lightroom is all about volume, and very light editing.
The Photoshop Elements forum is at:

Remember, you are not addressing Adobe here in the user forums.  You are requesting help from volunteers users just like you who give their time free of charge. No one has any obligation to answer your questions.
I do not know where there is such a comparison table as you seek, but someone else might, or you can google.

When checked, it means that you are going to apply whatever is in the box to all of the selected items.

Check this out https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3362, thanks to Kappy. Contact your carrier, they would be the only one that could possibly blacklist your phone, if they provide that service.

  • I bought this MacBook Pro 15.4" 1.83 GHz MA463LL/A with 2gb of RAM for real cheap on eBay because I'm poor and can't afford a new MACBOOK PRO and was wondering what everyone thinks about these laptops and what can and should I upgrade when I get money?

I bought this older MACBOOK PRO 15.4" 1.83 GHz with 2gb of RAM and Leopard 10.5 on eBay for real cheap because I don't have the money to buy a new one like I would like to  do, and it comes with a disk to upgrade the OS to 10.6 and I was wondering what all I can and should upgrade (short of the whole computer) as I have the money to do so? Or did I just get really hosed?

You have the original Core Duo model. 2 GBs is the most RAM you can install, so the only thing you could upgrade would be the hard drive. Doing so is not a trivial task but you can find suitable hard drives and installation tutorials at OWC.
Since yours is a Core Duo model you can upgrade OS X to Snow Leopard, but not to Lion which requires a Core 2 Duo or better.

  • What happened to the thumbnail photo in an event?  Previously all I had to do was to drag the thumbnail photo to a folder, now I need to drag each individual photo to that folder.  If that means a few or several, it's a hassle. Any help for this one?

What happened to the thumbnail photos for an event?  Previously when I wanted to transfer an event to a specific folder all I needed to do was drag the thumbnail.  If there were multiple events, I only needed to pick the one I wanted and drag it.  Simple and it worked very well.  If there was an event with several, I only neede to drag the one thumbnail and it was done.  Now I need to drag each individual photo to the new folder.  Sometimes that could mean 10, 20 or more. Doing one at a time is can be a very slow process.  If there are events that need to be split, it can be even slower.  Any positive ideas will be greatly appreciated.

You need to follow iPhoto terms since we only know what you tell us
what are you calling folders - in iPhoto folders can not hold photos - albums hold photos and folders hold albums or other folders
The basic default view of photo is by event (iPhoto '08 and later)
Exactly what you you trying to do?

  • I'm looking at buying a MacBook Pro for uni and I was wondering what the best type would be to get? One with retina display etc

I'm looking at buying a MacBook Pro for uni next year and I'm not sure what type to get. I've heard different things about the retina display and that people only get it to edit photos etc but then people have said that it is quicker and makes the laptop lighter. I'm also unsure of how much storage I will need. If anyone can help that would be great!!

There are two screen displays available - Retina and non-Retina - and there's a world of difference between them. The Retina has non-user replaceable RAM and flash storage (well, the latter without voiding your warranty) and the non-Retina has user replaceable RAM and HD/SSD. And then, of course, there's the difference in the resolution of the screen itself... and a difference between the 13" and 15" screens (available in both 'flavors').
How much storage you need will depend on your needs.
I don't recommend the Retina models at this time - too many issues with tinting (on Samsung displays) and image retention (on LG displays).
So take a look at what the non-Retina machines have to offer - you can customize to your heart's content but remember that you can always upgrade the RAM and the hard drive in the non-Retina machines yourself.

  • I have OS X 10.5.8 and want to update my OS.  WHat do I need to do?

What is the next step to getting toward Maverick?

    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8, Lion, or Mountain Lion installed. Purchase and download Mavericks (Free) from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
         OS X Mavericks- System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mavericks
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table — RoaringApps.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

  • What is difference between BI & BOJ and what is the best roadmap

    Dear Sir,
I am confussed about as what is the difference between SAP BI /BW implementation  appraoch or BOJ approach .
Say if a company presently running ECC6 , want to go for implementing BI functionality , so that users can use effectively the SAP data for the routine decision making by using KPIs monitoring or DashBoard type functionality .
To have such a BI in place , do we require to implement BI / BW and then BOJ .  Or only BOJ is enough , if so then what are the limitations .
We request you to kindly help us on these issues pl .

    Hi,
Try a Reset of the Phone... You will Not Lose Any Data...
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
The Apple logo will Appear and then Disappear...
    Usually takes about 10 - 15 Seconds...
    Turn the Phone On...
If that does not help... See Here:

Ringer/speaker stopped working in mid conversation.

In the US, you have one year of warranty coverage against factory defects.

  • I'm in the process of getting my first iPhone and was wondering what the need of additional memory is for to a general user?

I'm ready to join the iPhone faternity from years of android use, and I don't use my phone for work.  What advantage would having 32G or 64G be to me?

Since the iPhone's storage cannot be increased, buy as much as you can afford.  Better to have and not need than need and not have.  Plus it will be worth more when you sell it.

  • Wondering what the dot menu in Mail is...

    Hi,
I was wondering what the dot menu meant. It's the little dot almost all the way to the left of the bar in Mail that has "To", "Subject", and "Date Recieved". (It's up at the top-left)
    Goldenretriever123

Below just the dot heading, a blue dot in this column next to a message indicates an unread message.
If you have Buddy Availability checked as an available column, when you have iChat launched and you are online with iChat, a green dot will be shown in this column next to a received or sent message by a buddy available in your iChat buddy list that is online.

  • What is the difference between PS 6 and PS CC?

I was wondering what the difference is.  What is CC?  I have the PS 6 downloaded from the cloud and not sure if I need to update or add the CC portion.

In a nutshell, Ps CS6 (not "PS 6") is Photoshop 13.x, Photoshop CC is Photoshop 14.x.   Photoshop 6 is well over a decade old.
In other words, Ps CC is an upgrade that would have been called Ps CS7, if Adobe hadn't decided to drop the "CS" denomination.
Needless to say, Ps CS6 has been superseded by Photoshop 14.x.
Make no mistake about it, Photoshop 14.x is a MAJOR upgrade, just as CS6 was a major upgrade to CS5.
If Adobe were still selling perpetual licenses (boxed sets or downloads), they would have charged you over $200 to upgrade to Photoshop 14.x.
