The Apple IDs from @mac.com and @me.com (Older MobileMe and more recent iCloud Names) are also Valid AIM Screen names.
Any other sort of Apple ID is not a Valid AIM Name.
A Google ID that is associated with Google Mail Account (And has "Talk" enable on your Google Settings) can be used in iChat as Jabber Name/ID. (Google Run Jabber server).
Jabber and AIM are different IM Services and it is not easy or straight forward to add Buddies from one Service to the Buddy List of another. (As A Starting point consider it "impossible")
iChat 4 and 5 have links to the registration page of @Mac.com here with a "Get an iChat Account" button in the add (Account) screen (You select @mac.com or MobileMe and then press the Button - Choosing AIM and then pressing the button used to lead to the AIM registration page but AIM moved their page).
Apple IDs can be any valid email (or an @mac.com or iCloud registration)
Therefore you could make a Google ID into an Apple ID.
However this will not be a valid AIM Screen Name the way @mac.com or MobileMe/iCloud ones are.

I am having difficulty moving spiceworks from an XP box to a Windows 7 box. I have followed the instructions as follows.Created a backup on the xp machine and then moved the zip file to the windows 7 machine.I installed spiceworks on the windows 7 box but did not start it up.I deleted the DB and Data foldersI unzipped the backup and moved the unzipped db and data folders into the spiceworks folder.started spiceworks and now stuck. (see screenshot)

I've had several problems with Access on W7, mostly me not being able to select it as all. What i'd start with (unless you really need to file mobility) is to install a SQL Server (express) and import the data there. Set up a .udl pointing to the server (which'd be the same for 7.1 and 2010) and then try.
If it still doesn't work you probably have some Race condition in your old code that has risen with the recompile. Do the old code have lots of local variables?
I avoid the obvious "do you have database connectivity installed on the 2010 machine as i assume you do".

As an avid flight simmer I bought a new soundcard my previous was
an audigy 2 platinum ex with an external module I really liked but somehow all of a sudden I was getting a screech when using FS9 sor I opted to change to the present. Well stone the crows my soundcard was auto updated with new drivers and well you guessed it the soundcard did not show in the sound video controllers window No I have just joined this forum and it looks like3 you may have the answer for me . I am now going to do as you suggest and see what happens.
I shall return with the outcome of my dilemma.

I acquired an airport express to extend my cable modems wireless signal, BUT having difficulty getting set up.

Having trouble getting set up. I'm trying to set up airport express to extend my existing wireless network, so i can get a better signal for my iPad at the other end of the house. I can get a green light on the airport device , but signal is still weak. How do I tell if apple express has been properly set up. Does the apple express need to be connect via ethernet to my cable modem (either for set up or to operate properly)?

If you are trying to "extend" using wireless only, Apple's "extend a wireless network" feature is a proprietary design that is designed to only work with other Apple routers.
It would be extremely unlikely that the Express could be configured to "extend" a wireless signal from a 3rd party modem/router or gateway.
More likely, the Express has been set up to "join" the wireless network. It does not provide any additional wireless signal in this type of configuration, which is designed for use with AirPlay.
I can get a green light on the airport device , but signal is still weak. How do I tell if apple express has been properly set up.
If you have a Mac laptop handly, you can perform a quick check to see if the Express is actually "extending" the signal.
Locate the laptop near your main router. Hold down the option key on the Mac and click on the fan shaped AirPort icon at the top of the screen. Look for the BSSID and jot down the least few numbers for identification. The BSSID is actually the AirPort ID of the device to which your Mac is connected at that time.
Now move the laptop close to the AirPort Express and perform the same check, If you see the same BSSID, this confirms that the laptop is still connecting to your main router's wireless signal...and the AirPort Express is not "extending" the wireless signal.
If the Express is "extending", you will of course see a different BSSID when you perform the check.
Post back on your results, so we will know how best to proceed if you want to configure the Express to provide more wireless coverage. It will help if you can provide the make and model number of your "modem", which is likely a combination modem/router or gateway type of device.

You can pair one iOS device to another iOS device at least two ways:
- Via app that use BT for peer-to-peer gaming
- By a general purpose app like

I am having difficulty getting my iPhone to sync with iTunes.

When I plug my phone in iTunes recognises it but does not start auto sync. I have the "Automatically sync iTunes when this device is plugged in" box checked. Also, all of the music on my PC Library does not transfer to the phone and niether does the music on my phone to the Library. I fear that doing a restore or transfer purchases will cause me to lose music in one or the other.
Anyone else have a similar problem or have a solution?
As an added note, this problem began when my old PC began to die and we bought a new one. I did not experience these problems on my previous PC.

Congrats on the new phone, sdhasley. Let's get to work on getting your phone to sync up with your Facebook. Have you downloaded the Facebook Application from the Google Play Store? If so, please remove the application from the phone and then re-download the application again. Once the application is re-downloaded please try to re-sync the device. Please keep us posted.

HT1296 Having difficulty getting music from my old 4S to transfer to my new 5S. I go through a Sync process and when it gets to the last step of Sync, the blue Audio bar shrinks back to show the few albums that are already on the phone.

I've been trying to get songs from my old 4S to my new 5S. I am using a computer to accomplish this. My 5s has a few albums I purchased from iTUnes. I see all the music I want to transfer to my new phone. I go through a Sync process and it cycles through the steps but the music will not get to my new phone. I used the Manage my music configuration.

hi i had the same problem today when i updated my itunes to latest version. however, i have just found my songs in the 'itunes media' folder. this was accessed through 'my music' then keep clicking through until you find itunes media and all my library songs were in there and i then just added these files to my library and all were restored however, i have lost all my playlists but at least my 700 songs are back. very dissapointed with apple that they have let this happen with their latest update, the previous version was miles better than this one . hope you find them. stevo

I have an IPhone 5. I am having difficulty getting and sending texts. Some I don't get until I completely shut down the phone and turn it back on.

I have an IPhone 5. Software is up to date. Having problems receiving texts and sending them. Sometimes it take for the phone to be shut down and restarted before the texts are received.

The basic way malware works is that it runs a program on the device. However, the iOS does not allow any program to be downloaded or installed onto the device, unless they are from the App Store. And Apple thoroughly checks all apps submitted by app-developers before allowing them onto the App Store.

The fortress is the iOS device. The guards are the operating system. The identification is the App Store.
You didn't come from the App Store? Then you can't come in. It's as simple as that.

Would any of you know by any chance how to find the download for a Mac OS X scanner driver? my Canon LIDE 600F scanner normally works fine - and i've checked and in principle it should be compatible with the latest Photoshop CS6 trial i've successfully downloaded. i've checked the Apple software update and that's fine too. it's just that when i open my photoshop CS6 and go to File - import - scanner, the scanner is 'missing' - and then when i try every which way, an error flag comes up, stating there's an internal error and cites the scanner driver. it looks as though i need a scanner driver download for Mac OS X 10.6. i've googled this and can't find it .... has anyone else encountered this hitch since downloading the latest Photoshop? previously i had Photoshop CS3 - it's the CS6 version now that i'm trying to work with.
