run the cleaner (Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs) and then retry installing.

We need to know if any registry settings are causing this error.  Please follow these instructions:
from Windows Start | Search: type regedit and hit Enter; you will see a window like this
now click on the little arrow ▹ left from HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Next click the arrow ▹ beside Software, then Microsoft, then Windows, then CurrentVersion, then Explorer, then click on User Shell Folders
all entries on the right side should start with %USERPROFILE%
If you have anything different, this may be the cause for the install failure.
Now you need to repeat the same thing for another key:
    ▹ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE ▹ Software ▹ Microsoft ▹ Windows ▹ CurrentVersion ▹ Explorer ▹ User Shell Folders
Here all entries should start with %PUBLIC% or %ProgramData%.  If you have anything different, this may also be the cause for the install failure.

  • I just installed Adobe Reader on my Macbook Air (followed all steps given) and still cannot read my .pdf files. Disappointed!

I just installed Adobe Reader on my Macbook Air (followed all steps given) and .pdf files still cannot be displayed after I double click on them.

If by that you mean Preview is still opening the files Control Click and HOLD on a .pdf file you'll see Open With (at the bottom) Other Dialogue box. - mouse over to it and before you choose Acrobat click Always Open With in the checkbox.

  • I cannot install adobe reader into my mac this is the message it tells me to open license agreement and press ok.. and close it then reopen.. i've done this dozen times already

i cannot install adobe reader into my mac.. i get the message to open license agreement and select yes and click it closed

The free Rader does not require a license. Could it be that Mac OS is asking you for the password of your Mac? Or that you are required to launch Reader (open your Applications folder and doble click on the Reader icon) to accept the licence agreement? Please be as specific as you can.

  • Error 1923 installing Adobe Reader XI

When installing Adobe Reader XI I get:
Error 1923. Service Adobe Acrobat Update Service (AdobeARMUpdate) couldn't be installed. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to install system services.
This happens after UAC elevation dialog. Running the installer as administrator doesn't help. Even when I select to update manually, I still get the same error.

    Hi,
This error is coming because service might already be in use. The file can be in use by any anti-virus or  data back-up softwares. It is also possible that your previous un-install has been unsuccessful, and it was already using the service. You can try two things :
    1. Reboot your system once. It should fix all scenarios.
    2. Another thing which you can try is Go to Control Panel ->Administrative Tools ->View local Services. Select Adobe Acrobat Service, Right click and stop it. Then try installation.
You can try msiexec /i [Path to MSI file] DISABLE_ARM_SERVICE_INSTALL="1" as suggested by LeoAdobeX but I will not recommend this. We would like our users to be updated with latest update and service just helps in that.
Keep us posted about the outcome.

  • Problems downloading and installing Adobe Reader X

I had problems with Adobe Reader X (couldn't print pdf documents, very slow opening and sometimes didn't open) so uninstalled it from my computer to see if downloading the latest version would get rid of the issues.   I am running Windows Vista Home Basic.
I am unable to install Adobe Reader X - it gets to a point where it should be installed and I get an error 1303 message, telling me that I need to log in as administrator (which I am).  When I retry the installation, I keep getting the same message.  What can I do?   I have quite a number of pdf documents that I now can't even open and read.
Many thanks in advance for any help that's there!

You can try using this tool to remove all traces of previous version(s) of Reader:
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Then, you may download the offline Reader installer from
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.

  • Make installed Adobe Reader work

I have installed Adobe Reader. When I try to open a PDF it says I have to install Adobe Reader. I've tried this several times. How do you get Adobe Reader to kick in and work?

    Hi,
Which Operating System are you using?
    For Windows
    - Start menu - Control Panel - Programs and Feature/Add or remove programs
Please check if Adobe Reader is in the list
    For Mac
    - Check if you have Adobe Reader in the Application folder
If not, Adobe Reader is not installed on your machine.
Please download and install Adobe Reader from http://get.adobe.com/reader/

  • Cannot install Adobe Reader 9

    Hello,
I have problem to install Adobe 9 on two Terminal Server.
Windows 2003 French R2 SP2 with Office 2003 and all Microsoft Updates.
Previous version of Adobe Reader was 8.1.3.
When I install Adobe Reader 9, I have this error message (translated from french):
"Program have not enough rights to access folder: c:\document and settings\all users\application data\adobe\acrobat\9.0. Impossible to install.
Open an administrator session or contact your system administrator."
Of course I'm Domain Admin. And I have access to the folder.
I have try to manually create the folder 9.0 in c:\document and settings\all users\application data\adobe\acrobat\ and it gives me the error:
"Error when creating the folder "c:\document and settings\all users\application data\adobe\acrobat\".
I test with an other admin account, and with the "run as" command, same problem.
I have test Adobe Reader 9 in english: same error:
"Error 1303. This instsaller has insufficient privileges to access this directory: c:\document and settings\all users\application data\adobe\acrobat\9.0. The installation cannot continue.
Log on as an administrator or contact your System administrator."
It's very strange because now, I cannot reinstall Adobe Reader 8.1.3, or 7.1.0. Nothing happen when I click on the icon.
I never have trouble on those servers to install/uninstall applications. And never have trouble to install Adobe 9.
Any idea? I will make some searches about the #1303 error.
    Thanks

I have try this solution for the same error for other Adobe products:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb405850
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=332541
    Ok, it works.
I have to apply full rights on folder C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\application data\adobe for the local admin group, and not the domain admin, and it works. :)
    Thanks

  • Partition changed on computer, cannot install Adobe Reader 9

    Hello,
I have a Lenovo computer that had a quirk from the factory.  It was partitioned into two drives, a C drive and a much larger D drive.  I started running out of space on the C drive, so the tech wonks at Lenovo walked me through how to eliminate the D partition so that C would now get all the remaining space on the computer.  So now I have only a C drive.  However, there are some holdovers (files or programs) on my computer that still must be operating with D drive addresses, and I don't know how in the world to fix this.  Apparently the Adobe installer must somehow have a D address, because I have been trying to upgrade from Adobe reader 8 to Adobe reader 9.  Problem is, when I try to install Adobe reader 9 I get an error message saying that there is no such address (D).  I have tried to completely remove the Adobe Installer, and yet it keeps coming back with the error message about the wrong drive.  I am also starting to get messages from my personal firewall that Adobe reader should be upgraded, but I can't upgrade it under current conditions.
If anyone can tell me how to fix this address issue, like going into the computer and changing all the old D addresses to C, since there is now no D drive, I would appreciate it.

After lots of searching I found a fix.  It was a problem with some wrong drive paths listed among several hot keys, after the D drive partition was removed on my computer.  A few drive paths retained the D address, and as a consequence Adobe and a few other programs would not update.
Anyway, it was a matter of getting the correct hotkeys within the registry, and following instructions on how to change the addresses that were still D drive.  After completing the changes, everything was back to normal.  I was able to download Adobe Reader 9.
Thanks for your help.  Luckily, there was no need to remove and reinstall the OS.

  • Can I install Adobe Reader to a drive other than the C: drive?

Can I install Adobe Reader to a drive other than the C: drive?

    Hello there,
Welcome to Adobe Community. Yes it can be installed on a different drive. Though some of the files installed by it will still be installed on C: drive.
When you run the installer, use 'Change destination folder' at the bottom of the panel
If you already have Adobe Reader installed on the C: drive, you must uninstall it before installing a new version on a different location.
    Thanks!

  • Error in Installing Adobe Reader

I'm trying to install Adobe Reader and everytime, it gets to 96% and an error message pops up telling me that it can't finish installation until I close Adobe Reader- however there is nothing open except for the installation window and the error message.

Make sure that anything that uses Adobe Reader is closed; check with the Task Manager's Processes tab.
If you're still having problems, uninstall your current Reader installation, then reinstall the latest Reader.
    Download the installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
