Hi, I've got 5gb of 'other' content on my iphone and i don't know what this is or how to remove it?
Just had my library transferred to a new PC, attempted to sync my iphone with itunes and there seems to be 5gb of 'other' content on my iphone? I can't work out what this is, or how to manager/reduce it?
I suspect you need to backup and then restore the device as this is generally the only way to clear up such data.
Your library should contain all the media that is on the device. If for some reason that isn't so see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

Hello, alot of my space taken up on my ipod nano is listed under (other) I don't know what this is but it sure takes up most of the space on my ipod. Does anyone know what (Other) refers to and how to remove it.?Thx
Hello Norman,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. To find out what the Other section is on your iPod Nano, the following will explain what the Other section is all about.
Understanding capacity on iPhone, iPad, and iPod
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1867
Once that is complete, then check the appropriate sections to see what is there. If you cannot isolate the issue then you may need to restore the iPod Nano. The following will assist with the restore process.

I have plugged in my ipod into my windows computer, scanned and fixed it (which was recommended), now when I tried to sync it again, I couldn't because the memory was used up with 'other'. I don't know what this is and how I can get rid of it, I have no music, films, photos, contacts on it, so am completely stuck! Help me please!
A large amount of other usually signals corrupt software and/or files that were synced to the device. You'll need to restore the iPod via iTunse to reduce it down to a much much smaller size.

Most of my iPhone data is going into this section called "other", but I don't know what that means or how to fix it. Does anybody know?
This is asked and answered often.
The forum search abr is on the right side of this page.
This indicates corrupt files. You will need to restore. -
Within the last few months I have gotten several snap shots of conversations from friends that showed it was my phone number but the conversation was not from me. It was someone using my information but texting frieda, family, and some co workers very obscene things. But the person was using completely juvenile context and I don't do that at all with my texts. The worst part was it began becoming such a huge issue when the cloned number or whatever was texting guys stuff and I wasn't the actual person texting. I got no responses to my phone but I had some very confused friends and even at one point my boyfriend got texts from my number when I was literally sitting next to him and my phone was on the coffee table. Anyone have any ideas on what I need to do. I have reset my phone, deleted everything off of it, reset passwords, I don't use location services but I am still having people getting crude messages. It's to the point now that my very own friends don't talk to me through text or my personal email because they don't know if it is truly me. Please help!
Your phone is not hacked however your sim card probably IS cloned.
YOU need to contact your Mobile Network and local police right NOW ! -
My I POD is at least 6 years old - functions well - 60 GB version
I only use it for music and PodCASTS which uses little room say 5 GB
However, I have a yellow " OTHER " band which is impossible to me as I have not recorded anything else,
However it is taking up some 40GB of space so the I tunes web site tells me!!
What is this please and importantly HOW do i get rid of it please?
Thanks
RichardOther could also be files that are being stored on the iPod if you are using it an external disk. You would be able to browse out to these files (if they exist) on your Windows XP machine by choosing Start -> My Computer and selecting your iPod in the list of drivers.
Other would also be corrupted files or firmware. To resolve this problem, you'll need to restore the iPod to factory settings in iTunes.

as title.
I will be very appreciated if someone can actually help me to solve this problem.
Thanks a lot.If you are wondering why you are not getting any responses, it is because you have vented a complaint without any details that make any sense or give anyone something to work on.
If you want help, I suggest actually detailing what has happened, with versions of software etc. Anything that would let us assist.
As a start I am guessing that you have not really got the hang of "How it all works". Firstly download the Pages09_UserGuide.pdf from under the Help menu. Read that and view the Video Tutorials in the same place. A good addition would be the iWork 09 Missing manual book and something to help you learn how to use your Mac.
If there are specific tasks you need help with:

Is a good resource.

When I got my iMac a few days ago it started instantly by showing the tool bar at the bottom and was ready to use. Somehow I have activated the monster known as keychain and my life has changed. How can I get this thing back into the bottle?
TheEntireSky, that is actually a different problem, specifically related to Safari.
Safari stores passwords for each site, unless you tell it not to. Some websites will place a cookie on your system that enables them to log in automatically. These are two separate functions. Each one can be removed or disabled separately.
I suggest you post a new question describing what you want to do. -
I had an iPhone from Verizon, and i got another iPhone from us cellular. I'm giving my old iPhone to my friend, and somehow we can both see each other's messages sent to other iPhones. Both have different apple ids and numbers. How do I fix this?
You probably activated the new phone will the old phone was still active. That would have linked the two numbers to iMessage. Go into iMessage and turn them off on each phone. Then turn iMessage on for your phone. When it activates, go into Settings>Messages>Send and Receive and see what numbers/email addresses are linked there. It should just be the current phone number and if desired, your Apple ID email address.
Then have the other person turn their iMessage back on and when it activates see if it now only brings their current phone number and again if desired Apple ID email address. -

Also the safe boot red words that was on the top of my screen on the log in window dissapeared after logging in.
So does i have to worry, or its normal. And now that i started up with safe mode does that mean that my mac is alright now? thank you for all of your time also ! -
I just wanted to update firefox and it won't let me. I drag the icon into applications, then a window ask me if I want to replace older version. I click yes and the window mentioned above appears. I purchased this computer new, I'm the only owner. Why would I not give myself permission to do something on my own computer.
If you get an error message that you do not have sufficient permissions or have problems with updating then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop
* Firefox 4.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
* Firefox 3.6.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
* Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
* Install the new version that you have downloaded

I got some kind of error message and I don't know what to do with it.
