Hi, thanks for the suggestion. I have tried as you suggested, and when opening the "purchased" apps some have the icloud logo next to them, but I only have "OPEN" against "Find My iPhone". When opening it up, it goes through the same routine; needs to be updated before proceeding, and wouldn't update because I don't have IOS8.
Anything else I could try, or am I doomed!

So if you still have your iPhone 4S backup in order and ready to use, you might try:
Settings > General > Reset > Erase all content and settings
... and then start the iPhone 5S setup once again.
It could be that the original seller did not set up the iPhone quite right.

The music sync is one way - computer to ipod. the only exception is ituens purchases.
You need to copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

You cannot bypass this security measure. You need to recover your AppleID from appleID.apple.com
If you can't send the password recovery to a secondary email, contact Apple Support.

See these two, try everything you can before renaming places.sqlite, such as the corrupt local store, backing up and restoring bookmarks, etc. -- because you do not want to lose your history by deleting or renaming places.sqlite. I have never had to delete places.sqlite but I did delete history once when I thought they wouldn't actually delete all your history from a tool bar button would they (that is a bit more protected now, at least by default).

I have always used the same computer to update both of our iphones , welll with this last one it changed my husbands apple account to mine , how do I get that change back, I looked on support but there is nothing l can find to address that issue

He still has money on his account, and plus it is just one more password and all. The information on his phone is all the same, thank god I didn't lose his phonebook or anything.

I can't see anything like the transfer purchases option that exsisted in the previous versions. I've tried to eject and start again, but it's still not giving me the option like it used to when you connected a device for the first time.
