You can check if you are using it on any of your iTunes account by logging into each account via this page and seeing it it shows as an alternate or rescue email address on them : https://appleid.apple.com
But there isn't a page that you can go to and see if, or on which account, a particular email address is used.

I recently changed my email on my apple account but the old email address is displayed when I go into iTunes or App Store not allowing me to sign into my account. At some points it's a vicious circle because it asks for a password at key times when trying to correct the problem. Note that the new email address shows when I log into my Apple account and shows it was verified. For some reason the system isn't updating to the new email in ALL places.

Make sure you are checking the email address you used to set up your iCloud account. Check the spam/junk folder as well as the inbox. If it isn't there, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage your Apple ID, sign in, click on Name, ID and Email addresses on the left, then to the right click Resend under your Primary Email Address to resend the verification email.

Mail wants to download every read email in my Yahoo account.

Suddenly Mail wants to download every single email, read and unread, from my Yahoo account inbox. Can anyone tell me why that might be? I like to keep email for a long time in that box as a backup, so I'd rather not have to check Remove Copy From Server. I don't think there's anything on Yahoo's end that would cause this. How do I prevent Mail from downloading read email from a server?

Is the Yahoo account set up as a POP3 account for accessing mail? If you really want to have mail stored on the server after you've logged on to that mail server you need to use IMAP. I don't know whether Yahoo offers IMAP, but POP3 was never designed for some of the uses that people try to put it to. IMAP was.

Regarding PhotosStream, an iCloud, feature, do you have iClould turn on on your Mac? Yu need the latest Lion. Go to Prefernces>iCloud to turn it on. You need the latest version of iPhoto

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you updated your Apple Id and password but now you are being prompted for the old information in iCloud. You are on the right track by changing the Apple ID back to the previous email address temporarily so that you can sign out. You should not need to verify the email address. After you edit the Apple ID back to the old email address and then sign out of iCloud on your iPhone, edit the Apple ID back to the address you would currently like to use. There is no need to change the password again, only the email address, unless you prefer to update the password again.
If you're asked for the password to your previous Apple ID when signing out of iCloud - Apple Support
Change your Apple ID temporarily
If signing out and back in to iMessage or FaceTime didn't help, try these steps:
Change your Apple ID to the Apple ID you used previously. You shouldn't need to verify the email address.
Tap Settings > iCloud. Complete these steps only if the Find My [Device] setting is turned on:
Scroll down and tap Sign Out, then tap Sign Out to confirm. If you're using iOS 7 or earlier, tap Delete Account, then tap Delete to confirm.
Tap Keep on My [Device] or Delete from My [Device]. In either case, your data remains in iCloud and will be updated on your device when you sign in to iCloud again.
Enter the password for your previous Apple ID.
Change your Apple ID to the new email address that you want to use. You'll need to verify the email address.
Return to Settings > iCloud and sign in with your new Apple ID.

When you say it will not let you, are you sigining into appleid.apple.com and clicking 'Edit' next to Primary Email?
Also, you will not be able to use an email address that is already associated with the same or another Apple ID.
If your recovery is what you want the primary to be, what you will have to do is:
1. Create a new email address with any email provider such as gmail, hotmail, etc. (even if you don't aren't going to use it)
2. Change the Recovery email address to the newly created email address.
3. Change the Primary email address to what used to be the recovery.
4. Change the Recovery to what the Primary email used to be.

Setting email other than apple account as default

I am wondering how I can set my college email or my yahoo email account as my default. When I go to email a page on the internet the system wants to use the apple account. I wish not to use the apple email account and want to use one of my other email accounts if I can.

If these other accounts are setup in the Mail.app, you can set them as the default by going to Mail>Preferences>Composing and change the option for Send new mail from:
If they are not already set up in Mail.app, you should see about adding them.
For your school account, you maybe able to set it using POP or IMAP in Mail.app. You would need to contact your school's IT people for the necessary server information.
For Yahoo, you will only be able to add it to Mail.app if you have a paid Yahoo Plus account. For free Yahoo and other webmail accounts, about the closest you'd be able to get would be having the mailto: link open up a new web page.

1. iPhone
settings > iTunes & App Store > Apple ID [email protected] > View Apple ID > type you password > Payment information.
2. Mac
system preferences > iCloud > Account detailes > Mannage Apple ID
But be aware that some of Apple stores require Debit/Credit Card details as collateral

Welcome to the Apple community.
Once you have created a rescue address, you cannot delete it, nor can you change it to the same address as used by your ID. There are numerous providers you can get additional email addresses from, such as Hotmail, Yahoo, Google etc etc.
