Hi I will an Australian iPhone 5C be compatible on the networks (2G,3G,4G) in the UK and Europe

The reason i ask this is because i am moving to the Uk and i need to buy a new phone before i go. I have done the research and it appears to be cheaper for me to buy a new iphone 5c (from kogan.com.au) and sign up for a sim only plan when i arrive in the UK.

IF you manage to get an unlocked iPhone4S ( Officially still only available from Apple online in US apparently)
yes it will work with any GSM micro sim worldwide including the UK
Beware of contract free which is NOT unlocked and ensure you get a GSM model
The warranty is not international and if you have hardware problems you will have to get it back to the US
and finally check the sums
the saving is not that great considering the warranty and adding State sales tax and the risk of getting caught on the way back in

  • I updated an iPod touch, an iPad 2, and an iPhone 4 to iOS 6, and all of them now will not connect to WiFi. They all give this wierd 404 error page from Apple and insist that I need to login to the network. Bad job testing the software Apple.

I updated an iPod touch, an iPad 2, and an iPhone 4 to iOS 6, and all of them now will not connect to WiFi. They all give this wierd 404 error page from Apple and insist that I need to login to the network. What's the fix? None of the recommended fixes work in any of these devices. Reset device, reset network, renew lease, etc. None of them work.

    Does the iPod work OK?
Does it charge when connect to the computer?
Does it appear in My Computer?
Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Compare with the iPod that does work/connect.
I suspect you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1

    iPod touch (3rd generation)
iPod touch (3rd generation) features a 3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen multi-touch display and 32 GB or 64 GB flash drive. You can browse the web with Safari and watch YouTube videos with Wi-Fi. You can also search, preview, and buy songs from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store on iPod touch.
The iPod touch (3rd generation) can be distinguished from iPod touch (2nd generation) by looking at the back of the device. In the text below the engraving, look for the model number. iPod touch (2nd generation) is model A1288, and iPod touch (3rd generation) is model A1318.

Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • HT4623 trying to download ios 6 software update to my iphone 4s. While it is downloading it suddenly pauses and knocks me out of my wi-fi network. I then can't access the network in order to continue the download.

    I have a iphone 4s.
I was trying to download ios 6 software update.
Put in a wifi network and plugged in before starting download.
Soon after I hit download it paused and said to choose wifi network before continuing.
It had knocked out my wifi connection.
When I turn the wifi back on and ask it to choose a network it can't find it anymore.
Meanwhile I can't get it to continue to download the ios 6 update.

Instead of trying to update OTA connect your phone to your computer with USB abd have the latest itunes open and do it that way. If it says you are not connected click cancel and see if the download continues.  iOS 6.1.3 is now the latest so that is what you will be updating to

  • HT1595 Apple tv will connect to the network but cannot connect to the Internet

My apple tv is connecting to my network but it says it cannot connect to the Internet. I've already tried restarting everything and I've also connected it to my portable mifi network with same results. Anybody have any ideas?

This is what the MAC address clone looks like:
Should I enable it?  If so, should I put something in the MAC Address?  What?  I was able to connect it thru my MiFi, but not my home network.  Until today, it's been connected to my home network for about 8 months with no problem.  Haven't used it for a while...not since I got a new router.

  • Possible that itunes will not update iphone OS while overseas?

hi, im in australia, and i was thinking about getting the iphone 3gs through the local australian network carrier here, however, a friend of mine said that whenever he returns to his home country with the contract phone that he obtained under a plan with yes optus (australian network carrier) he told me that it is not possible to update the phone or download any apps through the local itunes store in his home country. to confirm this rumour, i head down to a 3 (another australian network carrier) retail store to enquire about the plan while at the same time asking about the rumour, a sales person said that it might be possible that itunes will not update an australian phone with an non australian IP address...is this true? because purchasing an iphone and not being able to update it while i too return to my home country would render the phone quite pointless. could someone please get back to me and confirm if this is true and if there is any possible solutions without hacking the phone? ohh and by the way, the network carriers do legally unlock the phones for their customer when anyone needs to go overseas

If your phone is locked to the Australian network, then you can only roam in Malaysia. If it's unlocked, you can get a SIM card from a Malaysian provider.
iTunes, however, is country specific. You cannot access Australian iTunes from another country. For example, I'm in the US, and I can't access iTunes from other countries.
If your phone is unlocked, and you have a local SIM card, you should be able to access your local version of iTunes. No problem.

  • After updating my iPhone 5 to iOS 8.1 it will not connect to the wifi network at work even though it recognizes it. It however still automatically connects to the network at home. I have restared the phone and toggled the router, still no connection

After updating my iPhone 5 to iOS 8.1 it will not connect to the wifi network at work even though it recognizes it. It however still automatically connects to the network at home (this is the network I used to update the phone). My iPad however does not seem to have any problem connecting. I have restared the phone, toggled the router, re-entered the network password but there's still no connection.

When your device is trying to connect to the work Wi-Fi network, go to Settings > Wi-Fi > then tap on the name of the Netowrk that she is having trouble with. Then tap on forget this network. Let the device attempt to connect again and make absolutely sure she is trying to connect to the work network and not a nearby network, then make absolutely sure the password is entered correctly.

  • Can an Australian IPhone 6 Plus have UK Apple care Plus?

    Hi guys
I am thinking of buying an Australian iPhone 6 Plus - I am currently in Australia. It is the same region as the UK iPhone 6 Plus and the same model number. I have 2 questions. First, can I buy Apple Care Plus in the UK and for it to be valid for accidental damage (within the requisite 60 days) even though it is an Australian iPhone and second, if I bought Apple Care Plus in Australia - would that be valid in the UK for accidental damage or just Australia?
    Thanks everyone in advance.
    A

Apple Care plus covers everything, but as far as I know accidental damage is something that Apple Care plus won't cover. Any hardware problem is covered by Apple Care plus. Whereas for accidental damage, you need to pay for the replacement price. So you need not worry about getting it fixed anywhere if incase anything hardware related happens.
    You can read it here:

  • Our ISP changed the way we access the internet. Since then, wireless devices such as iPhone, iPad and iPod won't connect to the wireless and hold on to it. Devices get on, but then drop the network and can't get back on. Then it will appear, magically.

Our devices keep getting dropped off the wi-fi. The computer and lap top are fine, but the iPad, iPhone, and iPod all keep losing access to the network. We have tried:
Resetting the D-link, restoring Airport Extreme to its factory settings, resetting netowrk settings, powering down devices, turning wi-fi on and off. It has been pretty frustrating to say the least. This all started after our ISP changed our... I am not sure what it is called, but the thing stuck on the house outside to broadcast across the valley to the mountain where we get our internet.... Any other fixes?

I guess the issue is the Airport Extreme. We put back our old D-link and everyone is on. The Extreme did not live up to my hopes - (guest network, limit wi-fi for my children's devices to a certain time period...) And, it didn't last long - I think it is only a year old, if that. I have restored it to factory settings but to no avail.... perhaps it was a dud. Is anyone else actually able to limit access? I set it up but it quit working over and over and the kids were on whenever. Then we started losing all the devices in the last few weeks - laptop fine for wi-fi, iPad, iPod, iPhone all randomly kicked off and let back on.
This is a great idea - and it would be worth replacing if I knew my new on would work. Thanks for replying lllaass!

  • I have just converted from PC to iMac. Yay. But pls be nice to me; I am back to newb! Running Lion. Have connected a Time Capsule as both a backup and WAP. I want to be able to join the network with my iPad, iPhone, iPod to print. How can I do this?

Can I do this using the Time Capsule. I am not tech, so bear with me. Can I get the iPad to connect wirelessly to the TC, which connects wirelessly to the Canon MP495? Or, can I connect/network the iPad to the iMac to print?
Either way, or if there is any other solution, I would appreciate if someone would walk me through it, or point me to a plain-speaking resource.
    Thankyou.
Actually, one more: I would like to connect my HP laptop as well. I have heard this is not simple, but possible.

You can create a wifi network with your TC, and you can join this network with your iPad. However, your printer does not support the AirPrint protocol, so you will not be able to print from your iPad, unless you load additional software.
    These are the steps:
    1.  (You may have completed this step already) Set up your TC to create a wireless network. You can do this from AirPort Utility on your Mac or from the AirPort Utility App on your iPad (free download from the App Store).
    2. From your iPad, go to settings / wifi and join the network.
    3. Download the Canon iPhone App from the App store on your iPad
    4. You can now print photos from your iPad to your Canon printer.
If you want full functionality, (not just photos), there is software for your Mac that makes your printer available to your iPad through AirPrint (Printopia). The downside is, you have to purchase it, and you have to have your Mac running when you want to print from your iPad.
    Good luck!

  • IPhone 5 wi-fi "unable to join the network"

My new iPhone 5 is my first iPhone and I've had it about a week.  I'm still in the process of setting it up but cannot connect to my home (secured) wi-fi.  I've been reading other Apple forums and Google suggestions and it appears this is a known Apple issue?  My phone came with iOS 6 installed so I have no update available.  I've turned off my router and shut off my phone, rebooting both but I still get an error message when entering our wi-fi password:  "unable to join the network".  I've turned off cellular and re-tried wi-fi to no avail.  I am NOT impressed with my first Apple product.  What a hassle.  Does anyone have any other suggestions to try or am I stuck waiting months for an Apple fix?

There are a couple of things that you can try. First, try disabling the security on your wifi network and see if the phone will connect. Check the type of security you are using. Some have reported the iPhone reacts differently to some wifi security. Check to see if there is a firmware update to the router. This is usually the biggest culprit of the bunch. Once routers have been updated and restarted, troubles disappear.

Go to Settings > iTunes and App Stores and set to "use cellular data" to ON. Be aware this will use your mobile data allotment when streaming music.

  • VNC Mocha Lite, DynDNSm, iPhone setup for accessing Mac outside network

Not sure if this will help but it took some trial and error to get right. This is to help those who want to use the Mocha VNC program to remotely access their Mac from outside their own network. Hope it helps.
    1. First you need to get a domain name (free) from www.dyndns.org. Simply go there and sign up for a free account and pick your domain name (such as joeblow.homeip.net)
    2. Goto the Mac you want to remotely control. In System Prefs goto the "Sharing" menu. Make sure to click on the "Screen Sharing" option (no need for Remote Login/Mgmt, etc). Then click on "Computer Settings...". Check on the second option "VNC viewers may control screen with password:" Then type in a password and hit "Okay"
    3. Open Airport Utility
    4. First you need to ensure the Mac retains a static IP address within your network if you access the network wirelessly. Your router may change it from time to time, so just to be sure, make it static. You do this by selecting your router then 'Manual Setup'.
    5. Click on the "Internet" option at the top of the setup dialog box, then select the "DHCP" tab.
    6. In the "DHCP Reservations", hit the "+" sign below.
    7. Type in the description, for me this is simply the name of the Mac we are setting up, you can name this whatever you like.
    8. Be sure the "MAC Address" is checked and hit "Continue".
    9. Type in the MAC address, you can get this from the "Network Utility" utility found in the Applications/Utility folder and in the dropdown box be sure you select "en1". You do not have to type in the ":", it will automatically be done. Then in the "IPv4 Address" box type in the IP address you want to set as static for the Mac. For me, i simply used the address my router had currently given it, 10.0.1.197, but it can be 10.0.1.19x. for most who aren't connecting to more than 10 computers this won't be a problem. Hit "Done", you have not made the IP address for the Mac static.
    10. Now you have to 'port forward' a port on the router so that when a call is made from outside the network on a certain port, it is forwarded to this Mac. Click the "Advanced" icon at the top of the Airport Utility application. Then click the "Port Mapping" tab.
    11. click the "+" button below.
    12. In the first two boxes, type in "5900" (if you add other Macs, make it 5901, 5902, etc, etc, each Mac must have a unique "Public" UDP and TCP port). Then in the private IP address type in the IP address you just reserved for the Mac. In the two bottom "Private" port text boxes type in "5900" (this is the same for ALL Macs...for whatever reason, on the Mac, VNC only seemed to work on port 5900). When done, hit 'continue'.
    13. Type in a name for this port mapping - I used "VNC - {name of computer}" and then hit "Done"
    14. Click the "Update" button at the bottom right of the Airport Utility app to update your router with these new settings. That's all you need for the Mac.
    15. After installing VNC Mocha Lite on your iPhone. Open up the app and hit the "Menu" button, the "Edit Connections". Select one of the empty 6 connections.
    16. In the "VNC Server IP Address" type the dyndns.org name you reserved "joeblow.homeip.net".
    17. In the "VNC Server Port" box type 5900 (or 5901, 5902 etc, for subsquent computers)
    18. In the "VNC Password" box type in the password you created in step 2 above
    19. Give it a name in the next text box, whatever you like
    20. Be sure the Mac OS X server is "On" as well as all the other options.
    21. That's it, you should be set.
    Hopefully this helps others.

Thanks a million, Dave and John, for the very helpful responses and suggestions. I now understand that with OS X 10.5.2 there is a "built-in" VNC-like server, thus there is no need to run Vine Server.app; I also checked, it is NOT in the Login list (under Accounts), hence does not automatically load in the background.
    One puzzlement and one question:
The Puzzlement: the Password necessary for connection seems to be my regular password to log in to my Mac as a user. Whatever password I set under System Preferences>Sharing>ScreenSharing>Computer Settings>Password seems to have absolutely no influence on my being able to login with my iPhone with the (stored on the iPhone) "regular" password. that is to say, no matter what password I set on the MAC, I am not being asked and the iPhone connects and displays the screen. Go figure! ???
The Question: how do I do a port forward on the Airport Extreme BaseStation?
Using the Airport Utility.app (vers. 7.3.2)>Manual Setup>Advanced tab>PortMapping tab I click the plus button and then I am at a loss what Service to choose (Personal File Sharing, I assume?) and what numbers/digits I need to fill into these fields. Any advice appreciated.
    I will follow-up on the dyndns.org advice.
    Hope that you can help.
    Thanks and cheers,
    Veit
