That is so dumb...Apple is the best and most techinological company IN THE WORLD and they don't have the time to invent something like that? HUH? All they are worried about is making the "Worlds best Phone" and they can't take the time out to help their users or anybody that has their products. All they have is "Find mt Iphone" Well they should step up and do something else to help people like me out. Find a way to turn it on and you can find it or find a way to turn it on remotely.

Each country is a separate business. If Apple in Australia fixes a phone purchased in another country it reduces their profit. The good news is that Apple stores will frequently replace phones purchased in other countries under warranty, but they are not required to do so. Some countries are more liberal than others. India never does, for example.
Why don't you just buy it in Australia? The price difference can't be that great.

Kenwood X991 & iP200 cable with iPod 5th Gen 80GB does NOT work correctly

I have a conundrum. My wife has the 4th Gen v1.2.1 iPod 30GB which works fine on my Kenwood X991 Head Unit. I recently purchased the "new" 80GB iPod 5th Gen with the latest version "1.0.2" which does NOT work properly. The iTunes software tells me that this 1.0.2 is the latest software.
When I attach my iPod to my stereo, it states "Reading" for eternity. It DOES play music but only plays Alphabetical Order ONLY. There is no ability to stop, change, fast-forward, reverse, etc....the only thing you can do is click "Source" to change to CD Player or Tuner, etc...
Does anybody out there know what is going on? I have a request into Kenwood as well. Thanks in advance for all your help!

Thanks for the help. It's an iPod Classic then 80GB. The unit plays when plugged in but does not allow searching, or switching songs nor displays as it is supposed to. My wife's 30GB works with no problems. Of note:
Her 30GB = v1.2.1
My 80GB = 1.0.2
Mine is newer by about 6 months. Both are the latest software according to the screen.
Kenwood has said to "reset the head unit" and "make sure I've got it plugged in properly". I need to try the reset part next but the last statement is funny to me. I can install a head unit, amplifier, re-run all speaker wire, install a Dual 10" subwoofer box, solder and wire tie all connections from a factory unit to a 3rd party Cable manager kit, but I need to "make sure" I know how to plug in an iPod cable.....laughable.

As stated in the tittle my iPod won't charge. I have looked at a lot of the similar posts but none of them are helpful. I can NOT get into DFU mode, I HAVE read both iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting and iPhone and iPod touch: Charging the battery pages, I HAVE tried another cable and another wall charger, I HAVE checked all connections/sockets on the iPod, cord, and wallcharger for debree, rust, or other forign materials, and I HAVE tried plugging it into my computer.
Just for clarification, my sister has an iPod 5th gen with the iOS 7.0.4 and her iPod charges on both mine and her cable/wallcharger/computer BUT my iPod does not charge on any combination of those. The nearest apple store is 1hr 29mins from me (I checked!)
Usually computers and tech do not elude my deductive skills but this has me stumped! Please help! Any of such is greatly appriecated!

Mine had been fading for a while before the warranty was up, and then became mostly unchargeable in the eleventh month.
I took it to a Genius bar where they were able to test it and swap it for a new iPod touch.
Just make sure you have done a very careful backup before you go, I have had weird sync problems after the swap, getting my stuff back.
I suggest the simplest method is to clear off just about everything you can, especially the photos. Less to chase when things go pear shaped.

Hello guys. Today I connected my iPod 5th gen to the charger and I noticed it wasn't charging. This started today. Someone please help me. I appreciate every tip and help I recieve.

Hey Suhey, first inspect the charging port, your looking for foreign debris, lint, dirt etc. anything that could be blocking an electrical connection, if you see something try to carefully remove it. Just be careful not to touch or bend or damage the pins. If you must use a wooden toothpick to remove any foreign debris from the port and inspect the port for visible damage, cracks, missing pieces, etc. If not the issue, then try a different cable. The lighting cables have a history of breaking, shorting out. They will look just fine, but not work. If not the issue with the new cable try a different charging device. If still not working, attempt a reset, press and hold both the power and home buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 10 seconds +/-, then release both buttons. If you can still turn on your iPod go into Settings>General>Reset then tap Reset All Settings. If still not charging connect to your computer and make backups of the stuff you have on your iPod then Restore from Backup last resort, Restore to New. If that doesn't work try letting your iPod drain completely, go dead then attempt to charge. If still not working, contact your Apple store or Apple Genius Bar and have your iPod evaluated. Some other apps say iOS 4+ but don't list the iPod Touch 2nd gen in the description, so I'm guessing they just don't work no matter the OS. However, the apps listed above say OS 3+ and just say ipod touch, so I think they should work. I'm running iTunes 10.3 but not the most recent release, and am updating as I type just in case that's the problem. Thanks for any help or advice!

Question: Is there a software upgrade (for the iPod 5th Gen) out there that will essentially update the device to work or operate like a newer iPod ? For instance, the funtion of the new iPod Nano 3rd Gen which has "Cover Flow" ... is there a way to get the "older" 5th Gen iPod to have this function ?

However I think it is safe to say that going on past model changes you'll not see anything from Apple on this. As an example, when the Late 2006 version of the 5th Generation iPod was introduced it had a new search feature, this was not added retrospectively to the earlier model. The new changes are much more extensive than that one was so I wouldn't expect to see Cover Flow or any aspects of the new interface added through an Apple firmware update to earlier models.

After restoring to factory settings/new iPod you will then have to restore from backup
To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
