  • Normal for Macbook Pro to be at 70 degrees Celsius when only Chrome, Itunes, and Adium is open?

I just got my macbook pro two days ago, and I realised it's heating up enough for me to take notice. I use my laptop on the table, in a well-ventilated room.
I downloaded istat pro and realised my CPU temperature was up to 70-80 Celsius, with just itunes playing (with visualiser on), adium open (with no on-going conversations), and my chrome open (with a couple of tabs on apple forums). The fanspeed can range from 2500 to over 3000 rpm. I checked my Activity Monitor and the only significant activity comes from itunes.
Is it normal for a MBP to heat up so much with such mundane activity?

If the CPU temperature of your machine rises into the high 90s (C.) and stays there even with the fans running at or near 6000RPM, then you may have a problem of some kind that requires attention. If the CPU temperature ever reaches 105°C, the MBP will shut down for its own protection. That is the upper limit of the CPU's safe operating range, according to Intel's specifications.

  • Is this normal for macbook pro?

Hi, so I recently bought a macbook pro 15 retina early 2013 model.
What I notice is that my battery percent go down pretty quick I never really timed how long it last because I always charge it back up when I hit like 60 or 70%. I did these system rest and mirgration assistant command thing. When I click on battery indicator to check how long it will last, it shows like 8 hours or about 7 hours when it is at 100%. But when I use it, I notice the percents go down really quick. I would occasionally click on indicator to check the remaining time and It would show like 3 hours left and then it would go back up to 5hours and such.
Is this normal? Does this happen to other people too?
And I am on lastest ios version.

Even on my late 2011 model, when I'm on battery power the time remaining will fluctuate. I think that it simply depends on what's going on with the machine at the time that you check the time remaining. It's going to be less if you're engaged in CPU/GPU intensive tasks and more if you're just surfing the Internet and the like.
Nothing to worry about - it's normal.

  • Is it normal for the 4s to get kinda hot when running apps/ video recording?

Any know? Hope it's not a hardware issue.

It's normal to get pretty warm when running hard, i.e. video or some apps.  If it gets too hot to touch, that's not normal.

  • Is it normal for a 2011 2.2 macbook pro to get really hot while watching a HD youtube video?

    Only running firefox and itunes.
    4 gb of ram
    more than 15% available
    up to date flash, flip4mac
never heard of perian. its a quicktime player? would this help?
Give Allan's advice a try. I'm curious to see how that works for you.
4GB RAM could be part of the issue. Open Activity Monitor, select System Memory and see what it says for Page ins, Page outs, and Swap used.
Perian isn't a necessity, but those three together usually cover all the different formats you might encounter.

  • The normal value of battery capacity for macbook pro

    Hi there,
I noticed my battery full charge capacity value is way below the technical specification from Apple.
    For macbook pro 15" early 2011 version a 77.5W battery is built-in.
However, so far after 4 cycle, my full charge capacity is 6913mAh.
It seems that I missed something. Though I didn't really notice the initial value when it's brandnew.
Statistically what's the average value of the new battery will be ? around 75W or 7500mAh? Any idea?

  • I bought the wrong version as I need it for macbook pro but somehow bought windows...help

I guess I will have to wait until normal office hours.  I have no idea why it bought the window version as I did not realize that is what was selected.  I hope I can get it exchanged for the photoshop elements 13 for macbook pro retina display.     Anyone know if this is an easy switch and one they will do?

When buying HD versions of shows, only the HD copy will automatically download now (probably due to requests from people who don't need/want the SD version and complained about it being forced on them). The SD copy can be downloaded from your purchases area in iTunes, though. On the main iTunes Store page, go to Purchases under the Quick Links and then select TV shows. Click the "Not On This Computer" button. Uncheck the "Download HD when available" box and you should then see the SD copies of the shows and be able to download them.

  • Operating Temperature Limit for MacBook Pro

The specifications, for MacBook Pro, mention that the operating temperature is 10 to 35 Deg C. Does it mean that MacBook Pro will not function above 35 Deg C? Is it recommended to operate MacBook Pro always in an air-conditioned environment? As I plan to buy for the 1st time, I seek an answer.

You will find that if you use applications that are CPU intensive the internal temperature can go over 100 C.  This actually is within the safe operating parameters of the MBP.  Should the temperatures become excessive, there are heat sensors that will activate a shutdown so that no damage will occur.
You might download from the Internet a utility called iStat pro that will show you the internal temperatures of your MBP and the fan speeds.  You can then correlate this information with Activity Monitor data and determine if the temperatures are normal for the given circumstances.
    Ciao.

  • Base speed for fun;lower and upper threshold for macbook pro 13" mid.2010

i have install fun control, and i have modifiated impostation for base speed (fun) lower and uppeer threshold,
what is the parameter impostated by apple?
    thanks
    Francesco from Verona

Fan base speed is 2,000 RPM and increases upon load.
    122-158º F is normal
You have a 13" MacBook Pro, it doesn't also have a dedicated video card (like the 15" and 17" do), only CPU graphics, thus the heat is double in the same location.
This is normal for all CPU graphics machines, Intel or AMD processors. Mac or PC.
Don't use the 13" for intense graphics uses or in hot environments.

  • Macbook pro md313 over heat, is it normal ?

Macbook pro md313 over heat, is it normal ?
i bought macbook pro md313 2 days ago, its really really over heat it burns my legs and very loud fan, is it normal ? and if its not how to fix this problem ?

Without any real data we cannot give you any advice.  Install from the Internet iStat pro and then you will be able to see the actual internal temperature and fan speeds for your MBP.
In the mean time be advised that there are temperature sensors that will shut down your MBP before it commits Hari Kari, so do not be unduly alarmed.
    Ciao.

Forget about a virus. There are no documented viruses that affect a Mac running OS X.

Apple hardware drivers are an integral part of OS X and cannot be removed through normal means.
Why do you believe it's necessary to download a driver?

  • How can I know if my new internal hd for macbook pro is compatible?

I have been trying to upgrade my internal HD for macbook pro early 2008 2.4 and have been having a hard time getting it to boot.  Problems with both WD and Seagate.  I am wondering if the problem is with Mavericks.  I got a good back up from Time Machine to load on the hybrid drive.  Then when I try to restart it shows the apply symbol with no chime and then a black screen comes over the blue screen with some code (strange problem I have never seen) I can see that all the data is on the drive.  I was able to partitian in disk utility.  Anything ringing a bell.  I have done several switches like this and this is the first time I have had so much trouble.  I reinstalled my old drive just to make sure there was not another hardward issue and everything is fine there.  In fact I have a new logic board freshly installed by mac.

Your machine has a SATA 2 interface and I'm sure the new drives are SATA 3. They should still step down and work though. It's possible your SATA cable is marginal and the newer drive is trying to demand more out of it than the old one did. A good test would be to put the new drive in an external enclosure and see if it works ok from there. If so, it's probably the cable.

How did you install Mavericks on the new drive?
