Yup. If it is enabled (and i believe it is by default) in the settings, double clicking the home button brings up the iPod controls which allow you to raise the volume, play a song, and more forward or backward a song. If the headphones are plugged in, clicking the center button on the headphones once can also play/pause a song while double clicking will move forward and triple clicking will move backward.

Why is it not possible to play music stored on iphone from multiple pc's

I am able to hook my nano up to 2 different pc's and play music that is stored only on the nano from itunes. When the same is performed using my brand new iphone I find all the songs stored on the iphone are greyed out and cannot be accessed.
Why is this so?
I do not want to sync to this computer just use the itunes interface to access the songs stored on my iphone for playback purposes only on a machine. Seems like madness to me and a step backwards in terms of functionality.

After updating to 3.0 i am unable to listen to music while using certain apps. I used to be able to double tap the home button and the ipod controls would pop up and i could play music while using an app. Now with this crappy update, it brings me to the music section of my ipod and closes my app. I dont see why you would take this feature out, so i imagine its still possible to do this. Is there still a way to do this or did apple just feel like taking this feature out?

Still works for me. I ran an App and then double clicked the home button and the iPod Touch displayed a small window for music controls on top of the App window. After that I hit Close and the window closed leaving the App intact.
Lets see if you have your settings set as mine and take it from there. Go to *Settings - General - Home* and then see if there is a Check Mark on HOME under _Double Click the Home Button For:_. Also iPOD Controls are set to ON.

Is it possible to play music videos on the Music App of the iPad 2? Or create a playlist for the Video App? or sort the music videos by artist, genre, album, etc.?

I have two music videos on my iPad and they don't even show up in the Music App - only in the Videos App so I have to conclude that you can only play them in the Videos App.
I could be wrong - heaven knows it won't be the first time - but I see no way to play it in the Music App.

However, to your question. If the game app (or any app) you open has sounds, yes, it will override the music app causing it to pause.

but in this case I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for that feature. iOS already provides a "priority". It goes to the app that is currently open, as it should.

I skimmed through this very long post but from what I read, this sounds much more like a coverage issue with your network than a device issue. I have not seen or heard of this issue before and I do not have this issue personnally and & I use the music app quite frequently while working in the yard.
The DND feature should not be a factor at all if you're sure it's turned off. I always recommend restarting your phone by holding down the home button + the lock button for 10-12 seconds until the Apple logo appears. Once the phone reboots, do a test to see if this has helped to resolve the issue.
If not, go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Then, test it out again. Post back if neither of these solutions solve your issue.

Strangely enough, I exchanged the ATV2 and ATV3 and now both work fine. I suspect it may have something to do with the fact that (previously) the ATV3 (1080p) was behind an ethernet hub. Somehow the ATV2 (720p) does not mind being behind the hub. Either that or iTunes suddenly became smarter since the exchange . Anyway, it works now so I'm not touching it. Thanks for the suggestion.

Noticed that you can play your iPod music while on an iPhone call? How sweet is that? Play music while on a long rambling call, or hold.
How? Simple: once you are on a call switch back to the iPod and hit play.
BUT the music is so loud that you really can't hear your call.
Has anyone found a way to independently adjust the volume of the iPod and iPhone? Pretty sure I know the answer to that.
Sadly your caller cannot hear your music either. Why not? What a rad feature that would be, play music for you and your pal while on a call.

If the apps use sound - such as game apps, you will not be able to play Music while using this apps. If you are working in a Word Processing app or some other app that doesn't involve using sounds, you should be able to play music - using the iPad Music App.

Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new device.
Have you tried ALL the troubleshooting steps? If you have and you're still having problems, then you'll need to bring your phone into Apple for evaluation and possible exchange.

Make sure you don't have Repeat turned on. While the song is playing, tap the screen (cover art) if necessary to bring up the extended music controls (see image below). Then tap the Repeat button until it turns white (which is off).

Our experience is a little different, we have different iTunes accounts for different family members, each family member has their own iTunes library on their own mac, each mac uses my Apple ID for homesharing and we are able to play purchased content from each library on the Apple TV.
