Hi my iPhone 4 got wet , will apple replace it at a discounted price in ireland? If so where do I take it to be replaced or repaired?

My phone got wet not dropped in water but left out in the rain. Now it will only power up if connected to the wall charger and then i can enter my unlock code .After this it says Activation Required , connect to itunes. It says 100% battery but no service .When I remove the usb lead from the wall socket to connect to my pc the phone dies.Then when i connect it to the computer the apple comes up on my iphone and nothing else just the apple then blank then the apple then blank in a continuous loop.itunes doesnt start when i connect the iphone to my pc and it doesnt show as connected in itunes either. The sim in the phone is also damaged as when i removed it to put in another phone it didn't work or wasnt recognised. When I brought it in out of the rain the speakers were making a crackling noise but they have stopped this now .Also the camera lenses were a little clouded with moisture but they have since cleared .
What to do ? Apple dont cover water damage (the phone is only 8 months old) so do I have to buy a new Iphone at full price or will they like in the states replace it at a discounted price. If they will replace it will I be able to get a 32gb as they only sell Iphone 4, 8gb now in the apple store

Take it in for service or most likely out of warranty replacement. Water damage voids your warranty so you will need to pay towards the replacement.

You can try and put it in a bag of uncooked rice for 5 days or so, but don't get your hopes up. If that doesn't work, you get an out of warranty replacement or buy a new phone.

The phone is damaged. Take it in to an Apple Store or authorized service provider. More than likely you will have to pay for an out of warranty replacement.

A liquid damaged iPhone 4 can be replaced by Apple for $149.
By the way... and electrical short can be dangerous, creating a fire or explosion hazard. You can see the short that's affecting the flash... It's the short you may not see that's affecting the battery and/or charging circuitry that's the problem.
Get it replaced.

Does the camera work correctly? I have seen this before on iPhone 4, so may not apply to 4S. But if camera does not work, then simple camera replacement could be the next step to fixing this problem of both camera and flash (they are combined part).

Yes it does, although I wa a minute faster than you. To see if someone is parroting you, or that they just posted at the same time, look at the head of the post and it will show you the data and time of the post and who they were responding to. Looking at that first saves some misinformation in future posting.
You'll see some posts where there will be 5 posts all in the same minute sometimes. Answer posts late at night and you won't see as many.

Put it in a bag of rice or silica gel. Leave it there for a week. Do NOT attempt to power it on or charge it before the end of the week.
If it still doesn't work after that, make an appointment at the genius bar and get the phone replaced or buy a new one.

Thank you. I told it to the apple store in Southampton and they were fab. I was lucky and there was no water damage, the water indicators didn't change colour. It was just bad luck my screen failed at the same time as it got wet!! Screen changed and all is well. Thank you Genuis Tom and West Quay!!

Have this problem too, iPhone 5 ios 7.0.4, I had headphone jack connected and apple charger connected, disconnected headphone jack, no volume on iPhone, thought it still had headphones connected, I manually turn off my iPhone 5, swtich to power off, all normal, nothing weird, but when I turned it back on it will never pass the apple logo, it will go away after some time, then apple logo again. I did a full restore and it did recognized it, it restored it to factory settings, welcome screen on itunes but not on iPhone, just apple logo, I noticed that after the full reboot loading bar, it will do another one like not even halfways, then it will turned off and back on by itself again, it charges, (can tell by itunes info window) it holds the charge (i've let it go fully discharged) Did recovery mode, dfu mode, nothing works warranty was 1 year and i've had it for 13 months. If your phone is officially unlocked, you will get an officially unlocked iPhone if yours is replaced under warranty. Apple maintains a data base of officially unlocked iPhones & can verify whether your phone is officially unlocked or not. To be safe, point this out to the genius bar, if you go to an Apple store or whoever you talk to, if dealing with AppleCare.
