Hi, my ipod stop responding, and it shows vertical colored lines
Hi, I was using Facebook app in my ipod and suddenly it froze ans showed vertical colored lines on a white backgroud. What should I do, my computer also doesn't recognize it.
Try here:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
If stil problem, let the battery fully drain. After charging for at least an hour try again.
If still problem time for an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. You likely havea hardware problem.

hey i have an ipod touch 5gen ,it has stopped responding and is showing a blank black screen.when ever i connect it to itunes it gives a sound of the connection. what am i suppose to do?(ios7)
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

IBook G4 14" freezes at start up or just shows vertical color lines
Hello, I am struggling with my 14" iBook G4. It either freeze at the early phase of starting up with gray background/apple icon, or shows vertical colorful lines on the screen. I tried to wipe out the HD and reinstall OS, it froze during installing. Whatever is shows on the screen does not mirror to an exteral display. I don't know if anyone has experience on this, a display issue, HD issue, or a more serious logic board issue. By the way, I was able to install OS TIGER on its HD by starting it in target mode and hooking up to another ibook with firewire cable. Any suggestion will be very appreciated. - I am not very experienced with Mac, trying to learn more at this forum. Thank you.
Hello, Cornelius. I am back. Here is what I did. I inserted the hardware test disk, restarted computer, while holding down "c" key. I could hear disk spinning. The colorful lines showed at begining, then they went away, leaving faint backlight on the screen, and DVD drive went silent. Then I restarted it, while holding down apple+L keys, like what you suggested. Disk spins, colorful lines stay, and then everything goes silent. While I was doing this, I hook the mini DVI port to a CRT monitor which I know works well for my powerbook. But no video signal was transferred to it at all, except a turning-on signal. I have another disk says "applecare protection plan", aslo says"techtool deluxe". I don't know what this is for, should I try this? I will be waiting for your or other pros' further instruction. I feel the frustration, but enjoy the learning process. Thank you very much for your precious suggestions.

My iphone5 got a problem of getting switched off and on automatically. I can see my screen getting faded and then i can see the pink vertical lines before it switches off. After about 10 seconds it switches on again.
Hi sumit1310,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I'd start with these troubleshooting steps:
iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 15 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
Regards,

ITunes 12 stops responding and crashes almost constantly
Product info:
Late 2011 Macbook Pro, running Yosemite 10.10.1 with iTunes 12.0.1.26. I have installed all updates.
The Problem:
iTunes becomes unresponsive for at least 30 seconds and then frequently crashes after I request simple operations (like marking a podcast as played or unplayed, deleting a single episode of a podcast, switching between the tabs of the podcast section (between “My Podcasts” and “My Stations”), and switching between the Podcast and Music sections. Almost everything I do causes iTunes to stop responding and/or crash. I mostly use it for managing podcasts and syncing my iPod, so I haven’t noticed these problems with other areas of iTunes.
The application also doesn’t render properly when scrolling down through a list of media, so that some lines of text are split or duplicated until I wave the cursor over each line.
The application has become completely unusable, and I’m not sure what to do. When I was still running Mavericks (I upgraded to Yosemite last week with a clean install), I downgraded to iTunes 11 to fix the problems. The software was functional, but iTunes consumed a lot of CPU and memory according to Activity Monitor, and often the Macbook’s fan would start spinning when I used iTunes. The system update notifier also kept nagging me to update iTunes daily, and I got tired of that too.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes 12, with no improvement (but I didn’t use a cleaner program to strip all associated files, so there might be something I missed). I also moved my iTunes library itl and xml files to the desktop and re-created the library by importing the xml file. That took several hours and made no difference.
I have saved the text from the latest crash report, in case all or part of it would be helpful.
Any suggestions? I'm pretty frustrated here, and I'm starting to look for alternatives to iTunes.Thank you for responding, Linc. I have followed your instructions.

"Display ATI Radeon Family driver stopped responding and has recovered"
For the past few days my laptop Model HP G61-409CA has been displaying broken black and white horizontal lines and black, white, and coloured random squares on my screen. When it freezes the screen and mouse stops moving and the screen goes blank for about 5 seconds then comes back with the error (Display ATI Radeon Family driver stopped responding and has recovered) appears with a yellow triangle. Unfortunetly when i click on the triangle nothing opens up.
Ive tried to download Catalyst Control Centre because when I researched many people spoke about not being able to find their control centre and that it had something to do with the displaying error on the screen. I cant seem to find the folder or the program on my computer, but when i tried to install something similar from http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/mobile?os=Windows%207%20-%2064#amd-catalyst-packages less than half way through the computer displayed a Blue screen and had to shut down. Also when i recovered my laptop the problem did not go away.
My product number : WA964UA#ABC
OS: Windows 7 for x64 based systems
Please let me know what needs to be done ive tried updating all my drivers aswell!Hi Quesspee,
Thank you for your query, I am happy to assist you!
I grasp that a few days ago your display started showing broken black and white horizontal lines and black, white, and coloured random squares on your screen . When it freezes the screen and mouse stops moving and the screen goes blank for about 5 seconds then comes back with the error (Display ATI Radeon Family driver stopped responding and has recovered) appears with a yellow triangle. When you clicked on the triangle, nothing happened.
You tried installing the Catalyst Control Center and approximately 1/2 through, you received a blue screen and your system shut down.
You tried doing a recovery but the issue remained.
I suggest you test for hardware failures. Testing for Hardware Failures (Windows 7)
If this did not help to locate the issue, I suggest contacting HP support for further assistance. They have the ability to remotely log onto your system, to help locate and resolve issues.

When I search for stuff on the internet it says safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding and non of my games work either. What do I do to fix this?
Settings → scroll down to Safari → in Safari settings, I selected both Clear History and Clear Cookies and Data.
IF that does not work -
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
Finally - if problem still present -
Go to Settings>General>Reset
Reset the network settings - you will need to add the password of your home WiFi in your phone once more
The device should turn itself off & back on then go into Settings>Wifi and join your network -
SLI GTX 970 Nvlddmkm "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" Error
Hi everyone,
I'm having an issue with driver crashes and was hoping someone on here would be able to help. The error I am getting is: Nvlddmkm "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered".
My PC specs are:
Windows 8.1 Pro
i7 4770k with Corsair H100i
2x 8GB HyperX RAM
Asus Maximus VII Ranger Mobo
2x MSI GTX 970's
750w Superflower Leadex PSU
I've noticed that the error usually happens while the cards are cooling down after playing a game, although it has been known to occasionally happen while gaming. I am have MSI Afterburner running and have noticed that the GPU usage spikes up to 100% then the power usage drops completely just before the crash.
This problem has persisted through 3 clean OS installs so I do not believe it is a driver issue.
My initial thoughts were that the PSU could be insufficient, but after some reading online my system really shouldn't draw anywhere near 750w. What do you think? I am not totally clued up on PSU's, so not sure if my wiring could also be causing the issue - here's a pic:
The cards use a single cable that joins both cards for both 8-pins, then two other power cables for the 6-pin. Would this be a problem?
It's also worth noting that the issue doesn't seem to occur when SLI is disabled. I never had any problems with the original card prior to adding a second card though so I do not think it needs RMA'ing.
Any advice would be greatly appreciate. Thanks in advance.Quote from: Svet on 08-June-15, 17:36:36
oki remove the second card[your old one] and test the newest card only
I will try this tomorrow, thanks.
A bit more info, it crashes with SLI disabled. Just found out tonight for definite.
Here is a screenshot of what MSI Afterburner shows when it crashes. -
Display driver stopped responding and has recovered successfully
Hi everyone!
I sometimes have recently been encountering this error 'Display driver stopped responding and has recovered successfully' .
This is the version of ATI RADEON Graphics adapter.
This problem is happening recently (let me say about five months ago)
I really don't know what may be causing this problem. However, I have created a virtual machine before about only 3 days with these settings:
Host machine has Windows 7 home premium (64Bit), and the mount of memory available is as follows:
Physical Memory
Memory Usage 34 %
Total Physical 5.95 GB
Available Physical 3.89 GB
Total Virtual 12 GB
Available Virtual 9.43 GB
Guest machine has Windows 7 home prmium 64bit, and the mount of memory available is as shown below, I really needed to this RAM memory size because the Windows 7 got very slow with less than this size.
Host machine has Graphic adapter with memory size of 6GB
guest machine hat his video adapter settings below, because I really needed to this video memory size.
But, as I said I have been facing this error for about five months before VM was created. Thus, I don't think that the problem is related with VM's video display.
Also, sometime when visiting some sites containing video files needing Adobe Flash player, I was faced with that error and the browser got non-responding and then, it got closed.
It would be highly appreciated if you could help me with this.dindin wrote:
Hi Cooperator ,
As I see , your catalyst is from 2011.You can use AMD Driver Autodetect Tool. The AMD Driver Autodetect Tool is designed to detect the model of the AMD graphics card and the version of the Microsoft® Windows operating system installed in your computer. If a new driver is available, the tool is designed to help you download it. After a successful download of the driver, the tool will provide you an option to install it.
Download page:
http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/auto-detect-tool
After that ,open Catalyst control center, and set your programs to performance that you want to run.
It should solve your problem , this error comes when graphic card need more time that win register alow (about 2sec) , and with right drivers , it shoul fix it.
Wish you good luck and all the best!!!

Thanks a lot,
When I tried downloading the tool from that link you provided as circled in this screen shot below
After amddriverdownload_installer was downloaded, I run it, then another wndows showed me
Then after download completed,
this show me.
I found the tool cannot be downloaded due to incompatible hardware/software on my computer,
Although tool couldn not be downloaded, there are some files in this locatin after clicking install.
As aside, this window below showed me while downloading the tool, then I don't know what let it show me.
Is it OK or should I uninstall it if it were installed
Also, AMD Gaming evolved was installed without asking my permission.
It is installed as 'Raptr.exe' in this location 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Raptr'
Also, whenever my Windows 7 got started, this windows showed me, although I didn't set any account for this, there is accont longins as you see in this screen shot belw.
This raises another question which is what created this account shown above? -
Display driver has stopped responding and has recovered - Intel HD (Satelite P75-A7200)
I am trying to play minecraft on my Toshiba Satelite P75-A7200 running Windows 10 preview build 10130 . The game starts up ok and I can start playing it but then, anywhere from 10 seconds to 10 minutes later the Minecraft window locks up. It shows a "Display driver has stopped responding and has recovered" error in the lower right of my laptop screen. The Java Platform SE binary process shows as not responding when I open task manager. I have tried updating drivers direct from Intel, The latest would not install onto Windows 10 (Not a valid OS), Changing the Windows TDR timeout in the registry to 8 (no effect), and simply deleting the display devices and file associated with them and allowing the system to add them back. I am out of ideas at this point. Please help.
When I first got my P750, right out of the box I was having the same type of issue you are describing here. Only mine had to do with playing a dvd in the Toshiba DVD player. Regardless, after many attempts to fix the issue, the following shows a method of how I was able to fix it. It may or may not work for you, all I can say is it worked for me.http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/Video-Display/Display-driver-error/m-p/299816 My solution is down near the bottom of page 2 and basically it had to do with Nvidia and Intel driver compatibility. I hope this helps.

Prob. - ATI 4850: "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered"
Hey all!
I finally got my new iMac last week.
After installing BootCamp my graphics card driver always crashes just after starting Windows (Windows 7 Pro 64bit). I do not need to run any software but the screen shows some "glitches" => black screen => windows recovers and the message "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" appears.
The process reiterates.... just a few seconds later it happens again. Sometimes Windows crashes down completely.
I removed the driver to let Windows install it again. Nothing changend.
Does anybody know the problem and a way to fix it?
I was searching online for the mistakes and i do not know whether its a problem with Windows or the graphics driver.I did a little bid of research:
I guess the problem is a problem known and there are a few solutions...
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/device/display/wddm_timeout.mspx
The solution might be to enter windows registry and change the time windows is starting to stop and restart the display driver:
Go to HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers and add a new entry (DWord) "TdrDelay" with the number of seconds u want windows to restart the dislay driver. Standard seems to be 2 seconds. I found article giving advice that mentioned 4-8 seconds.
I will give it a try tonight.
Some other people mentioned that it is a problem with a combination of motherboard, cpu, graphics card and main memory. I think this cannot be a problem caused by the OS in generell. Otherwise more people would be confronted. Without a proper solution i will ask Apple for a new one or just send it back...
Others just deactivated Windows Aero and fixed it... -

Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered
I was getting this error from my new computer i had for 6 weeks. This is the second one laptop I bought that had that error from BEST BUY in FRESNO CALIFORNIA. After an amazing amount of research and looking into my machine they folks at the CLOVIS department decided it was hardware and not software. ...Now..
I went to the store in FRESNO and the nice gyt behind the counter could not help me because the policy on returns was 2 weeks. I stated it was hardware and not software. I asked for the manager and got this Chinese looking child about 18 years old come to me and said abruptly not our problem, took his bag, flung it over his shoulder and went home. I stood there wondering what am I going to do with this dead machine.
FRESNO GEEK SQUAD couldnt figure out what was wrong with it, they couldnt even hook it up to the internet so I could show them. Very annoyed I called my other branch in CLOVIS, there I was treated very nicely, they looked at it for about 2 hours trying to figure out what is wrong. they came to the conclusion that it was probably VISTA. They gave me credit against another machine.
I actually put another 500 bucks to get a better an another model machine.
I have acually spent well over 5000 dollars with Best buy in Fresno and I will not be going back for anything.
If anyone is getting that error then take it back in andd get a new machine. So, did you send an error report and check the solutions center at the bottom of the taskbar for a sololution?
It says you need to update your driver from NVIDIA directly to overcome this issue.

Y50-70 Display driver stopped responding and have been recovered
No matter CSGO or DOTA2 or running 3D Mark it will fozen and shows PDC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION, then restart. Or if i transfer to destop when it forzens, it gonna show Display driver stopped responding and has recovered. My display driver is the newest one and even i reinstall system the same thing happened.
hi johnny93,
Welcome to the Forums.
Can you try these steps:
1. Uninstall both Intel and the Nvidia Display Driver v353.30 from the Control Panel and reboot.
2. Install the following drivers in order and observe (reboot if necessary). You can also get them from the D:\Drivers folder
1st - Intel Video Driver for Windows 8.1 (64-bit)
2nd - Nvidia Video Driver for Windows 8.1 (64-bit)
3. If the problem remains, can you check the status of the system by installing Lenovo Solutions Center or manually run a diagnostic on the GPU and post the results here:
Lenovo Solution Center (LSC)

Individual Diagnostic Tools (see Video Test)
Let me know how it goes.

We have a problem with one of our deployments of Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V with a 2 node cluster connected to a iSCSI SAN.
Our setup:
Hosts - Both run Windows Server 2012 Standard and are clustered.
HP ProLiant G7, 24 GB RAM, 2 teamed NIC dedicated to Virtual Machines and Management, 2 teamed NIC dedicated to iSCSI storage. - This is the primary host and normaly all VMs run on this host.
HP ProLiant G5, 20 GB RAM, 1 NIC dedicated to Virtual Machines and Management, 2 teamed NIC dedicated to iSCSI storage. - This is the secondary host that and is intended to be used in case of failure of the primary host.
We have no antivirus on the hosts and the scheduled ShadowCopy (previous version of files) is switched of.
iSCSI SAN:
QNAP NAS TS-869 Pro, 8 INTEL SSDSA2CW160G3 160 GB i a RAID 5 with a Host Spare. 2 Teamed NIC.
Switch:
DLINK DGS-1210-16 - Both the network cards of the Hosts that are dedicated to the Storage and the Storage itself are connected to the same switch and nothing else is connected to this switch.
Virtual Machines:
3 Windows Server 2012 Standard - 1 DC, 1 FileServer, 1 Application Server.
1 Windows Server 2008 Standard Exchange Server.
All VMs are using dynamic disks (as recommended by Microsoft).
Updates
We have applied the most resent updates to the Hosts, WMs and iSCSI SAN about 3 weeks ago with no change in our problem and we continually update the setup.
Normal operation
Normally this setup works just fine and we see no real difference in speed in startup, file copy and processing speed in LoB applications of this setup compared to a single host with 2 10000 RPM Disks. Normal network speed is 10-200 Mbit, but occasionally
we see speeds up to 400 Mbit/s of combined read/write for instance during file repair
Our Problem
Our problem is that for some reason all of the VMs stops responding or responds very slowly and you can for instance not send CTRL-ALT-DEL to a VM in the Hyper-V console, or for instance start task manager when already logged in.
Symptoms (i.e. this happens, or does not happen, at the same time)
I we look at resource monitor on the host then we see that there is often an extensive read from a VHDX of one of the VMs (40-60 Mbyte/s) and a combined write speed to many files in \HarddiskVolume5\System Volume Information\{<someguid and no file extension>}.
See iamge below.
The combined network speed to the iSCSI SAN is about 500-600 Mbit/s.
When this happens it is usually during and after a VSS ShadowCopy backup, but has also happens during hours where no backup should be running (i.e. during daytime when the backup has finished hours ago according to the log files). There is however
not that extensive writes to the backup file that is created on an external hard drive and this does not seem to happen during all backups (we have manually checked a few times, but it is hard to say since this error does not seem leave any traces in event
viewer).
We cannot find any indication that the VMs themself detect any problem and we see no increase of errors (for example storage related errors) in the eventlog inside the VMs.
The QNAP uses about 50% processing Power on all cores.
We see no dropped packets on the switch.
(I have split the image to save horizontal space).
Unable to recreate the problem / find definitive trigger
We have not succeeded in recreating the problem manually by, for instance, running chkdsk or defrag in VM and Hosts, copy and remove large files to VMs, running CPU and Disk intensive operations inside a VM (for instance scan and repair a database file).
Questions
Why does all VMs stop responding and why is there such intensive Read/Writes to the iSCSI SAN?
Could it be anything in our setup that cannot handle all the read/write requests? For instance the iSCSI SAN, the hosts, etc?
What can we do about this? Should we use MultiPath IO instead of NIC teaming to the SAN, limit bandwith to the SAN, etc?Hi,
> All VMs are using dynamic disks (as recommended by Microsoft).
If this is a testing environment, it’s okay, but if this a production environment, it’s not recommended. Fixed VHDs are recommended for production instead of dynamically expanding or differencing VHDs.
Hyper-V: Dynamic virtual hard disks are not recommended for virtual machines that run server workloads in a production environment

> This is the primary host and normaly all VMs run on this host.
According to your posting, we know that you have Cluster Shared Volumes in the Hyper-V cluster, but why not distribute your VMs into two Hyper-V hosts.
Use Cluster Shared Volumes in a Windows Server 2012 Failover Cluster

> 2 teamed NIC dedicated to iSCSI storage.
Use Microsoft MultiPath IO (MPIO) to manage multiple paths to iSCSI storage. Microsoft does not support teaming on network adapters that are used to connect to iSCSI-based storage devices. (At least it’s not supported until Windows Server 2008 R2. Although
Windows Server 2012 has built-in network teaming feature, I don’t article which declare that Windows Server 2012 network teaming support iSCSI connection)
Understanding Requirements for Failover Clusters

> I have seen using MPIO suggests using different subnets, is this a requirement for using MPIO
> or is this just a way to make sure that you do not run out of IP adressess?
What I found is: if it is possible, isolate the iSCSI and data networks that reside on the same switch infrastructure through the use of VLANs and separate subnets. Redundant network paths from the server to the storage system via MPIO will maximize availability
and performance. Of course you can set these two NICs in separate subnets, but I don’t think it is necessary.
> Why should it be better to not have dedicated wireing for iSCSI and Management?
It is recommended that the iSCSI SAN network be separated (logically or physically) from the data network workloads. This ‘best practice’ network configuration optimizes performance and reliability.
Check that and modify cluster configuration, monitor it and give us feedback for further troubleshooting.
